PT

Lori has a PT appointment for her traps and neck this morning so we’re up early. We need to leave around 6:30. Then we’ll be around the house for the day working.

Yesterday the Mayor of Denver was schooled in D.C. He probably shouldn’t have volunteered to go. He has higher political aspirations and was thinking he could self-promote himself, but it was the opposite. He might have ruined his career with his performance. Nobody likes this guy, even his own family, who we know well.

We’re headed to Arizona tomorrow, weather permitting. The news is saying 10 to 20 inches of snow up here. We don’t believe it, but you never know. That’s about it, time to get going. Have a great day and God Bless.

Hump Day

Lori’s in Frisco, I’m in Denver and Ty’s at work. Think we’re getting a break in the weather today. We didn’t get much of anything yesterday, maybe an inch throughout the morning.

Last night Trump took it to the Dems. They looked like petulant children pouting all night long. They’re so disgusting as they didn’t even stand or clap for a kid with cancer, a couple moms who lost their daughters to illegal criminals, and many other mainstream issues. Trump even said at the beginning of the speech, “there’s nothing I can do to make these people clap or stand or anything”. He was 100% right. The Dems have no message other than Trump is bad, and that just doesn’t work anymore. America is back!

5:30am now, time to get moving. Lots going on, things are tough out there. As I’ve said, there’s going to be some short-term pain to get to long term gain. In the end, it’ll all be worth it.

Have a great day, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

National Pancake Day

A little snow outside on the grass this morning but really nothing to shovel on the driveway. Looks like maybe a half an inch out on the truck. I was down to Denver by 9am and headed back up by 10. I had to fill out some paperwork on a lever action rifle and picked up a couple pair of jeans.

Lori works in Edwards today and Frisco tomorrow. We’re hoping the snow goes away today. Looks like a little Friday morning when we’ll be headed to Boulder for our flight to Arizona.

Denver is so unsafe these days. Polis is “concerned” that the pause in Federal funds will make Colorado unsafe. This is hilarious as the reason it’s unsafe, and why funds are paused, is because of Polis’s policies! I mean, this is the definition of ironic. How about stop harboring and releasing and funding criminals, along with no longer making Denver and Colorado a sanctuary city and State, and we’ll be safer, and the money will be flowing again! I really don’t understand how anyone votes for these clowns. I also don’t understand how people are protesting the government eliminating fraud, waste and abuse. Yes, some folks will lose their jobs, but these are jobs that they shouldn’t have had in the first place. We say keep it up, bring it on and finish the job. We have to take our Country back!

It’s National Pancake Day! I love pancakes but really don’t eat them anymore, especially in the morning. Carbs are just too heavy on your stomach. I might drive Lori today since I’ll be going to the gym.

My buddy Chris who owns Aspen Hatters in Austin, sent me two hats yesterday. One has the hat band made out of some old tack I sent him that came from when we were kids. He used a piece of old reins from an old bridle that I think was Chief or Dandy’s, one of our two horses back in the late 60’s. It’s super cool.

5:30am now, time to get moving. Have a great Tuesday. Mardi Gras is starting in New Orleans today. I think free agency in football starts this week too. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Snow

Looks like some weather is coming in tomorrow. It is March after all. Yesterday after the gym we stopped for breakfast and ran into some friends of ours, John and Kathy. Then it was home to hang out around the house. Ty showed up with another load from Tommy’s. Sadly, a beer burst open in a trash bag with a bunch of cool sports cards and other stuff. We had to throw out a bunch of it, too bad.

Ty took off after he unloaded his stuff into our basement, thanks Tom, ha. I headed out to meet Mark and Clark for a nice afternoon cigar in the sun. Once again, when the sun went down, the jackets went on. Meanwhile Lori made enchiladas for Davy and Abbey who were driving home from the ranch in Gunnison. She tweaked her back yesterday. Davy brought us a bunch of fresh meat, ham, roasts, hamburger and sausage, yum. Nothing like meat straight from the ranch that’s all natural.

Jag and Ava are doing well. Ty works today and so do Lori and me. That’s about it. Get your groceries before tomorrow’s snow. God Bless.

Denver

Yesterday after the gym and walking the dog, we headed out for Denver at noon. Lori needed some new work pants and cheap shoes. After a short stint of shopping, we went over to Jeff and Tina’s to hang out. While there they showed us the model and info on their new 2300 square foot condo in Miami that’s being built and will be done in 2029. It’s 3 million dollars, plus, and this is the worst part, $4000 a month in HOA fees! it’s beautiful but no way in hell we’d buy that, even if we had the money. We love them but they have more money than sense and we’re close enough that I even say that directly to them. Still, they’re all in. They thought their home on 7th and Josephine in Denver, which is a beautiful old home they’ve fixed up to the nines, would be their forever home. But all the crime and Denver going to shit, made them decide to get out. Tina was walking around the house with Lori asking her if she wanted this and that, showing her stuff that they’re not planning on taking with them. I said, we might not be here in three years ourselves.

After hanging with them, we went to a new restaurant in Cherry Creek and met up with Jag and Ava who came down for dinner. We had fun and were done around 6:45. Ava’s family dog had to be put down on Friday, so it was good for her to get out. That put us home around 8:45 last night. The food was mostly pretty good, but my scallops were so so. Jagger, a couple days ago, got an email from a professor at Standford and Harvard saying he was the top accounting student in the school, and has the highest grade and they want to talk to him. He hadn’t replied yet, but we told him to make sure and respond as this is a big deal. Ava was super proud of him and encouraged him to tell us or we might have never known. We’ll see where that goes. They’re so cute and a perfect match and will get married for sure.

Looks nice and warm outside right now, relatively speaking. More shootings yesterday in Denver. We’re armed wherever we go these days in the city. In the car, in the stores and in the restaurant. Up here, it’s much safer. Ty’s in Denver coming up today.

We’re headed to the gym this morning and then we’ll be around the house for the day. March 2nd, Spring will be here soon. Next Sunday we spring forward meaning move our clocks an hour ahead. We talked with Robi for an hour while driving home last night. Can’t wait to see them. We’re going to dinner with them next Saturday night. That’s it for the day. Take care, be safe and God Bless.

We’re here!

March 1st, 2025. Sounds surreal. This morning it’s a dog and deer morning. Harley and our resident deer herd get along well. They don’t even run away from her as she usually doesn’t bother them. Harley was down the hill playing with a coyote yesterday, hmmm, bad girl. I scared it away, but we can’t have coyotes hanging around the house!

We were thinking of going to Denver today but haven’t decided. Looking forward to waking up in sunny Arizona a week from today.

I had to break down and have a few carbs yesterday. I was just too hungry on only meat and eggs.

Need to re-up our Bronco tickets today. Looking forward to a big year. It’s a big expense but Ty loves going so we’re basically doing it for him. It’s hard for us to get down from Eagle for the games.

Trump and Vance kicked the former comedian and now dictator Zelensky out of the White House yesterday. We’re so proud of them for sticking up for America. This guy has a $35 million dollar home in Florida, 15 other homes scattered around the world, and over a billion dollars in a bank account. That’s all been bought with our tax money! This guy is a grifter who shouldn’t be in any office. The Parliament of Ukraine started impeachment proceedings against him yesterday after what he did in the Oval Office. Of course, the Dems are siding with Zelensky saying Trump ambushed him, what a joke. Like Trump knew he was going to try to hold us up for more things during a photo op. Anyone who sides with Zelensky over the President is a traitor to the Country. This doesn’t mean we’re against the people of Ukraine, hell, we’ve given them 350 BILLION DOLLARS! Everyone I know was thrilled that Trump walked away from the deal. This guy has no leverage and he comes here trying to bully us for more money? Screw him. That’s my rant for the day, America First!

God Bless.

TGIF

Thank God It’s Friday, we need a break. I have a call at 10am and then after that, am going to wind down for the weekend. Lori and I are working out at 8. She has Pilates and I’m lifting with my trainer.

I’m down 8 pounds in six days by just eating meat and eggs. I feel fine but am hungry a lot. I’m also getting tired of not having other food. I did have some hard cheddar cheese yesterday, which apparently is ok to have. I’ll keep it up another week or so and then slowly introduce back some veggies and good carbs. I am going to do my best to keep sugar and simple carbs off my plate though. It takes 18 days to break a bad habit so after 12 more days, hopefully my sugar cravings are all gone.

Looks like 55 degrees up here today! That’s nice for us. Snow is melting but I’m sure it’s not yet done for the year. If we’re lucky, Spring will kick in in about a month.

Most of the guys made it to cigar night last night. Marty and Davy were missing. Marty was on the way back from Denver and Davy took Abbey and the two little kids to the ranch down in Gunnison until tomorrow. He called me when I was on the way home from cigars and told me they left Tux (the cat) outside. I stopped and let the kitty in and fed her. It took me a while to get her to go into the garage from the house, but finally she followed me when she heard I had food. Davy is bringing us a bunch more meat back from the ranch. Their steak burger, which is basically hamburger made out of steak, is really good.

Trump is still cleaning house. There are some enemies of us all, still holding on to the Biden agenda in some agencies. How anyone can be against the fraud and waste they’re finding is beyond me. The Dems, of course, are lying, trotting out single women, grandma, and anyone else they think will tug at your heart strings, to try to get public opinion back on their side. Thankfully this won’t work with the majority of the people as we’re all tired of the overspending on crap we never voted for. Don’t fall for it. Listen up, there’s going to be some pain to unwind all the carnage and damage Biden did to us for four years. Hang tight, it’s only been one month and eight days! It’ll be better in the end.

Time to get moving. Have a great Friday and last day of February. God Bless.

Property taxes

Another govt. grab, property taxes. You see, even if your house is paid off, which includes the land you bought, you don’t really own it. The govt. can take it from you if you don’t pay their property taxes. These can change yearly at the will of the govt. and usually do. One of the largest portions of your property taxes are the school levy’s. This is an absolute joke, especially when you don’t have kids. But today, we disagree with the majority of the things they try to teach kids in school. I say try, because out of 40 developed countries, we rank number 40 in performance and number one in spending per pupil. Couldn’t be worse. Another example of the govt. taking your money and wasting it. $$10,800 for us! A comparable home in Montana is about $2800! Thanks Colorado. Enough said.

Lori and I are headed to the gym today. She has a lot of work to do so we’ll get out of here early. It was nice yesterday but once the sun goes down, so do the temperatures. Should be nice today. We’ll have our fellowship tonight. Not sure where, as I’m not sure if James’s is in town or not. One of his two homes.

Ty’s doing well, and so is Jag. Jag had a ugly mole taken off his head a couple weeks ago and I got the call yesterday, after they did a biopsy, that he’s good to go and it was just that, an ugly mole. They send everything in these days as skin cancer is nothing to mess around with.

Our espresso machine finally broke down a few weeks ago so we’ve been using these French Press coffee pots I bought a while ago and have had in the pantry, just in case the power ever went out, or something like our espresso machine dies, like it did. It makes really good coffee! It’s also nice as it forces you to slow down and go through the process as it takes 5 or 10 minutes to make, which in this hurry up world, is a blessing.

Not sure if you can tell, but we’re in the beginning of our self-imposed planning stages towards retirement. This means change, hence the potential move to Montana, or wherever. When you retire, unless you have a ton of money, you need to look at everything from property taxes, to State tax, vehicle taxes (we’d save $7K a year in vehicle registration by leaving Colorado!) health care and more. Basically, the total cost of living as once you stop having money coming in, you’d better make sure you have enough to live on. Not sure what we’ll do or where we’ll end up, but you need to go through the process. Right now, Whitefish Montana, up by Glacier National Park, looks like an unpretentious version of Aspen with a lot less snow, nice lakes and rivers, and all the amenities you’d want. We’re going to go check it out this Spring. We’ll also be looking in Arizona next week. Ideally a main home in Montana and a smaller place in Arizona would be great. Then you spend June to January in Montana and January through May in Arizona. This is what Mom and Dad did. More to come, we’re not going anywhere this year, or probably next, but it’s never too early to start planning.

That’s it, time to get to the gym. We’ll work out until 8 and then Lori has a PT appointment. I’ll go grab breakfast with Ty and get her at 9. I’m loving my carnivore diet and leaning out fast. It’s just meat and eggs, nothing else. Going for six pack abs at 68! Ha.

That’s it, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Off to work

Lori is headed into work today. I have a couple important calls, and Ty is working too. I didn’t go to Denver yesterday as Tom said there was no need. I might run down with Ty Saturday morning to move some of the heavy stuff in Tommy’s basement. Jag has some stuff there that needs to be thrown out in the trash, but it needs to get brought up from the basement and Tommy can’t do it with his knees.

Nice weather up here and it’s going to continue for the next few days. We’re excited to go to Arizona in a little over a week. It’ll be nice to get some sun. We’ll also get to see Robi and Bobby. His birthday is a week from today, if I heard Robi correctly.

I’m working out with Brent this morning at 7. Then I’ll probably stop and see Ty before heading home and getting on the computer and the phone.

We’re seriously looking hard at Montana and Arizona as where to move to retire. Unless Colorado has a serious turn to the right, we don’t see how we can stay here. I think we can end up with between 2 and 3 million if we sell the house next year. That goes a lot further there, than it does here. It seems the quality of life is better in either place. Lori was talking to a nurse who lived in New Hampshire, then moved to Vail and worked at the hospital, and is now in Bozeman. Lori told her, “My husband wants us to move to Montana, what do you think?” She said while they have snow and it was cold last week, the big thing is that people are so much nicer. That makes sense as we have such a transient population here being a World class resort. We’ll see. The ideal situation would be a nice house in Montana where we’re at from May until January, and then a smaller place in Arizona to hang out for the bulk of winter. That’s basically what Mom and Dad did. Never really thought about being this old when I was younger, ha. We’ll see, lots to work out.

Time to get moving. Have a great Wednesday and God Bless.

Wowzer

A month from today is our 25th anniversary, Wow!

Three days left in February, Wow!

60 degrees yesterday, Wow!

I made it to the gym yesterday after going to Home Depot to buy an air compressor. Hard to believe I didn’t have one. I needed to get it to pump up Lori’s right front tire to take it in and have it fixed. After the gym, I stopped to see Ty for bacon and eggs. My appointment to get Lori’s tire fixed was at 12:30 so I had plenty of time to get some work done.

After my conference call at 9, I started on some work around the house. I might go to Denver this morning to load up some stuff from Tom’s, but he didn’t text back last night during the Nuggets game. I’ll text him in a few minutes as he’s usually up early, to see if he still wants me to come down today.

A week from Friday, Lori and I are headed to Scottsdale for some pool time and sun and golf. We’re flying JSX which is our favorite private-Esque airline as there’s no lines, parking is easy, basically no security and best of all, almost no people. We also love flying into the private airport in North Scottsdale instead of the large commercial airport. We’ll be there until Tuesday.

Lori might go in for a little bit today. She’s still fighting off her cold. Thankfully neither of us had anything like the flu. Neither of us get the flu shot anymore and haven’t for 6 or 7 years. Once the kids were grown up, we stopped. Overall, we’re pretty healthy, knock on wood.

That’s about it for today. Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.
