Americans Convinced Gun Homicides Soar Despite Actual Plunge In Gun Crimes
\n05\/07\/2013 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 20:14<\/p>\nIn yet another example of the massive gap between the American people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s perception of what is going on around them (whether by propaganda channels or simply cognitive bias) and the actual reality, Reuters reports that while gun-related homicides are down 39% from the 1993 peak, only 12% of people believe that gun crimes have fallen. Non-fatal firearm crimes declined by 69% to 467,300 in the same period but 56% of Americans believe that gun crime is higher now than it was 20 years ago, the Pew Research Center said its poll showed. The dichotomy between record food stamp usage (and non-employment) and multi-year highs in consumer sentiment comes to mind \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we wonder which is more \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcreal\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Yesterday the Bocelli Sangiovese was featured on The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda. This is quite the big deal for the Mr. as they say 4.3 million people watched the segment. Let’s hope it turns into more sales! Those girls sure are funny, drinking wine all day and telling jokes.<\/p>\n
The oldest had dress rehearsal for the talent show for 2 hours after school. The Mr. had picked up his suit, so he could wear the jacket. \u00c2\u00a0He wanted to wear the entire ensemble, but I didn’t want to wash and iron the shirt. \u00c2\u00a0He is really excited about the Talent show. So are we. None of us has seen a rehearsal yet.<\/p>\n
Tonight is the oldest’s 5th and 6th grade musical performance(totally different from band and orchestra…which is the 17th). The kids will perform for the entire student body at 2:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. for the parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles.<\/p>\n
The oldest will miss baseball practice tonight due to his conflicting schedule. \u00c2\u00a0He has a game tomorrow night and most of the team is going out for pizza afterward.<\/p>\n
Mr. Collins, the school Principal has challenged the third grade to a “Mad Minute” multiplication contest. \u00c2\u00a0He will bring Subway to the winner. \u00c2\u00a0The kids are really excited…what a fun way to ramp up the kiddos for math.<\/p>\n
The youngest is in the basement playing cool math games on his dad’s computer. \u00c2\u00a0The Mr. had to go downstairs to do a little work, so the youngest jumped on the drums and said, “Daddy, tell me a joke.” The Mr. told the youngest a joke and the youngest hit the drums….da dun dun, ting. \u00c2\u00a0He cracks me up.<\/p>\n
I’m off to prepare for my staff meeting.<\/p>\n
