Today is my parents anniversary! Hope it’s a fun party up there. I’m sure it will be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’m off to Denver in an hour or so to meet my buddy Toby and then to get a quick haircut before having minor surgery at the dermatologist. If I’m lucky, I should be home around 5:30 or so. It all depends on traffic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lori is working hard at work. Ty works at 10. I didn’t sleep too well last night, but am fine now. I have a lot going on at work as every day a few new issues pop up. You just have to handle them one at a time as they come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I talked to my 50 year friend Fred, who lives up in Shelton Washington, near the coast. He’s a bit older than me, at 73. I called him a couple weeks ago and was worried as he didn’t answer his phone. When he called me back, he said he just looks at his phone now and laughs when it rings. In typical Freddie fashion, he said, “dude, I’m done, I checked out”. What he meant was he’s fully retired. He said he and the wife downsized and now has a 2500 square foot garden at his house and his little sail boat right on the water out front. I asked him how often he gets to Seattle and he said he hasn’t been there in two years! He said he doesn’t even go in the grocery store, but picks his stuff up that he orders outside the store. He’s basically gone full native without a care in the World. When I hung up, I was a bit envious. I’d love to put my phone in a drawer and not look at it for a week or so, or even throw it away! Freddie said he was a slave to the fucking thing and wasn’t getting the return from it for being tied to it 24\/7. Makes sense if you think about it. I’ve always said I miss the 70’s before all this technology. Sometime soon, I’ll get there, but it’ll probably be another year or two. Can’t wait though. It’s a good goal to have, detaching yourself from the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
