I haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t been since Dec of 1964 .<\/p>\n<p>Maybe we can stick you in our suitcase!<\/p>\n<p>Ok, I came across this today while reading some stuff and thought I should share, read it all the way through, it won&#8217;t take that long.<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/modernsurvivalblog.com\/lessons-from-history\/how-old-is-grandma\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">How Old Is Grandma?<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Stay with this\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 the answer is at the end\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 guess before you read the answer, I&#8217;ll bet you&#8217;re wrong!<\/p>\n<p>One evening a grandson was talking to his grandmother about current events. The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.<\/p>\n<p>The Grandmother replied,<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Well, let me think a minute, I was born before television, penicillin, polio shots, frozen foods, Xerox, contact lenses, Frisbees and the pill.<\/p>\n<p>There were no: credit cards, laser beams or ball-point pens.<\/p>\n<p>Man had not yet invented pantyhose, air conditioners, dishwashers, clothes dryers.<\/p>\n<p>Clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and man hadn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t yet walked on the moon.<\/p>\n<p>Your Grandfather and I got married first, and then lived together.<\/p>\n<p>Every family had a father and a mother.<\/p>\n<p>Until I was 25, I called every man older than me, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sir.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sir.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>We were before gay-rights, computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.<\/p>\n<p>Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense.<\/p>\n<p>We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.<\/p>\n<p>Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege.<\/p>\n<p>We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent.<\/p>\n<p>Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.<\/p>\n<p>Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started.<\/p>\n<p>Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends -not purchasing condominiums.<\/p>\n<p>We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CD\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.<\/p>\n<p>We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s speeches on our radios. And I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey.<\/p>\n<p>The term \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcmaking out\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 referred to how you did on your school exam.<\/p>\n<p>Pizza Hut, McDonald\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, and instant coffee were unheard of.<\/p>\n<p>We had 5 &amp;10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.<\/p>\n<p>Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel.<\/p>\n<p>And if you didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail one letter and two postcards.<\/p>\n<p>You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, but who could afford one?<\/p>\n<p>Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.<\/p>\n<p>In my day, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153grass\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was mowed, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153coke\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was a cold drink, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153pot\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was something your mother cooked in and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153rock music\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was your grandmother\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lullaby. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Aids\u00e2\u20ac\u009d were helpers in the Principal\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s office, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153chip\u00e2\u20ac\u009d meant a piece of wood, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153hardware\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was found in a hardware store and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153software\u00e2\u20ac\u009d wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even a word.<\/p>\n<p>And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.<\/p>\n<p>No wonder people call us \u00e2\u20ac\u0153old and confused\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and say there is a generation gap.<\/p>\n<p>GUESS HER AGE NOW!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How old do you think I am?<\/p>\n<p>I bet you have this old lady in mind. Now just contemplate, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Why?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>WOW, pretty amazing. My how the World HAS changed, and in my opinion, not necessarily for the better.<\/p>\n<p>Just thought I&#8217;d pass it on.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday the kids were back in school and Mom was diligently preparing for our camping trip this weekend. She&#8217;s made lots of progress and has a lot organized. She said to me that we should keep stuff like this packed all the time in case of an emergency. \u00c2\u00a0Good thinking.<\/p>\n<p>I worked and was on and off the phone for most of the day. it&#8217;ll be great to have a break for 4 or 5 days. I&#8217;m turning my phone off and we probably won&#8217;t be able to post on Friday. I will get it in Thursday an then Saturday afternoon but Friday will be tough.<\/p>\n<p>Not a whole lot else going on.
