Champions

After a hard fought game where we didn’t play our best, we won. In fact, if you look at the series, we really didn’t have one good game where we played like we normally do. Yet, we still won. That says something about just how good we really are. We’re already the favorites to win next year according to the odds makers in Vegas. That’s a long way off but those guys know their stuff. Anyhow, what a great day. We’re all so happy. My phone didn’t stop blowing up for about two hours after the game. Tom and I must have exchanged 25 or 30 texts or more during the game and after.

We also had a house full as Ty had about ten friends over for the game. They had a blast too and the tv downstairs is on about a 5 second delay so we’d hear them all cheering after we knew what was happening, funny. What a great day and moment in this messed up World, congratulations to our team and to all of us fans! The best team won!

Today I’m off to Denver for a meeting on our new business. More to come on this but we’ve been working on it for a couple years. My Partner is flying in at 11ish and I’ll pick him up at the airport and head to a lunch meeting that’ll go a few hours.

Lori is working in Vail for part of the day and then will be here at home. Ty is here at the house. We have a landscaping project outside Ty is going to do. Jag was studying for most of the game as he has a test today. That’s dedication but not surprising as that’s just who he is. 6am now so time to get moving. I don’t need to leave until around 8 but have a few emails to send. Have a great day and God Bless.

Busy

5:14 am, just finished my coffee and will hit the shower in 15 minutes. It’s about 50 degrees outside right now, gorgeous. I have a 9:30 meeting, then will head to Park Meadows to meet Toby before picking up Ty and heading up the hill.

Lori took her mom to get her nails done yesterday and then brought her up to the house for lunch. She’s confused more than not these days but as I told Lori, I’d love to have my Mom around in the shape Dixie is. That put it in perspective for her.

Earlier I went to the hardware store and picked up some more mulch that Lori spread around the last few places in the yard that were not covered. I have a new weed puller that’s pretty ingenious and works pretty well so I was outside pulling weeds most of the day. The yard is looking pretty good. I think we’ll be staining the house before winter as we need to do it every 3 years or so.

Time to get moving, huge game tonight. I hope the players aren’t watching tv as there’s too much “when we win it” crap out there. It isn’t over until it’s over. Then we can celebrate. 6:30 start time, Go Nuggets and God Bless.

Beautiful

It’s so nice outside right now it looks like a painting. Yesterday we bought 20 bags of mulch at the hardware store and Lori spread them around the trees and flowers in the backyard. She did all the work in her swimsuit to get some sun and stepped on a cactus as she was barefoot. I had to pull probably 50 little stickers out of her foot with tweezers. The green grass, trees and mountains are in sharp contrast to the blue sky and faint white cloud off in the distance. Beautiful. Sometimes we take for granted where we live. I couldn’t imagine ever living in a city again.

Yesterday we went and saw Dixie, went out to lunch, hit the hardware store, and Costco and stopped by Riley’s to get the chocolate cake that was oh so good. I think I ate too much of it!

Ty is either coming up today or I’ll get him tomorrow. I have a pretty big week coming up and then next weekend is Father’s Day weekend and Aspen Food and Wine. I should probably drive over on Friday for the annual Bubbles Party in the afternoon.

Not sure what we’re doing today. Tomorrow I’m supposed to drive to Denver to meet the buyer for a national steak house chain and Tuesday I have Brian flying in for an all day meeting. Wednesday on I should be good hanging at home.

Jagger wants to have a pig roast either in Boulder or up here so we’re going to check into what that takes, beside a pig! Big game tomorrow, hope we win. A bunch of us guys are thinking of getting together. James is off to Sweden today for the last stop in this leg of the European tour. He’ll be home a week from tomorrow and needs the break. I think we might go on a leg of the 2024 tour with him between the Munich and Helsinki Finland shows next May since we didn’t make it this year. Here’s a pic they sent yesterday of him and Addy flying in by helicopter to the show in England at Castle Donington. That’s it, have a great Sunday! God Bless.

FUN!

What a great game. This NBA Finals should be a life lesson for humanity. The reason we’re winning, is we are a team. Yes we have great players but our team plays together and as a team, not as individuals, like most other teams. It was a fun game to watch and be part of. Sports is unique as when you’re a fan and your team wins, it’s as though you’re winning too. Go Nuggets!

Earlier in the day we hit the gym and are going again this morning. After that the cleaners came while I ran some errands. I needed to go to the eye glasses shop, the butcher and the flower shop where I picked up some flowers for my lovely wife, just because.

Later in the day we went to see Dixie. She’s doing fine despite her falling the day before. Good thing about her memory loss is she doesn’t remember falling, ha. After that I went to hang out with my buddy Mark for a bit. By the time I made it home, it was gametime.

Today, Riley, Adriana’s daughter, is making me a cake! She went to cooking school specializing in becoming a pastry chef. Anyhow, she made a cake for her brothers graduation party and Lori had brought some home for me about three weeks ago. It was literally the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had in my life. It was so moist and the frosting was sort of like a sweet cream. It’s hard to describe but she knew how much I liked it so she was going to make me one before we went to Hawaii but I told her to hold off until we got back, so today, we’re having chocolate cake!

James has his second show in England today then is off to Sweden for two shows and then home. He’s ready to come home for sure as the road can be tiring. He texts every day and I know he’s tired and a bit homesick. Thankfully Adriana is traveling with him or it’d really be rough. Everyone thinks it’s so easy being a rock star, and yes it’s an incredible life, but it does come with unique pressure and challenges none of us can understand. Oh well, as Mom always said, you do what you have to do.

Have a great day, God Bless.

Friday!

Lately the days have been running together. Today though, it’s Friday! Thank God. We have a big game tonight and the cleaners are coming today after not being here for about a month. Last night I went to James for cigar night with six of the other guys. We’ve all been traveling so it was good for us all to get together. Meanwhile, James was being flown in by helicopter to a field in the middle of the English countryside as the road to the festival was so packed with 100,000 fans that he said it took over 2 hours to go 2 miles by car. That’s why the chopper.

Dixie took a fall in the middle of the night, night before last. She can’t remember when so we can only estimate. She’s fine but bruised and cut up a little. Lori was down there while I was at cigar night.

Ty has his second interview at Elway’s today, hope he gets the job. He’s coming up Sunday morning. Both boys will be coming up next weekend for Father’s Day, Lori said. Not sure what we’re going to do.

Big game tonight. Hope we crush them. We’re definitely the better team but that doesn’t always mean you win. Sunny with blue sky outside. Denver had thunderstorms and lightening and hail last night. My buddy Toby texted me pictures and it was all over the news.

Time to get moving and get to the gym before the cleaners come. Have a great day and God Bless and Go Nuggets.

Big time

Great game last night. We played like we usually play, which is like great team. We need to have the same attitude tomorrow night and put them down while they’re down. Tom and I were texting the whole game as not only did we need to beat the other team, we had to beat the referee’s too. We’re both glad the next game is tomorrow instead of a three day break.

Lori and I are off to Denver this morning. Hope to be back by 2 or 3 at the latest. Dixie had a rough day mentally. Her vitals were fine but she was making no sense when we talked to her and when Lori went to visit her at halftime of the game. We think she was having mini strokes which often happens at her age. Hopefully she’s more coherent today.

Ty has a second interview at Elway’s today. That’d be a good job for him. Meanwhile Jag solved a problem in his quantitative finance class that the professor couldn’t solve. The teacher gave the class a problem and Jag finished it before the professor tried to finish and solve it on the white board. He then told the class, “wait a minute, you can’t solve it this way”. In the meantime Jagger had already solved it his way and gave it to the professor who then told the class, “here’s how it can be solved, do it Jagger’s way”, amazing. Like something out of a movie. Jagger is really that smart and that’s a microcosm of who he is. He’s going to do some amazing things in his life. So will Ty, in his own creative way. I always joke that Ty will invent some life changing thing like flying skateboards and Jagger will run the company and they’ll make billions of dollars.

It’s a little foggy outside but nice and green everywhere. I think the rain is supposed to taper off next week. Time to get moving, have a great day, God Bless.

Pretty morning

For the past few weeks, we’ve had a lot of rain as a State. I think we have a few more days of this until the pattern changes. The first 10 days of June are historically stormy so this is nothing new, but the volume of moisture is up this year. Even though it’s no fun now, it’s good for the State. Right now at 5:30am, it’s beautiful out with a crimson red sunrise over the mountains in front of the house.

Yesterday Ty and I headed to Denver around 8am. I dropped him a few hours later and then made my way around town to do my errands and meetings. I was back in Vail by about 2 where I stopped at Marks to hang out for a bit. Lori finally made it home a little before 6.

Tonight we have another basketball game. Hoping the Nuggets bounce back. I’m off to the gym at 6:30 and at 9 have our builder coming over to caulk and paint the baseboards they removed to replace the floors a couple months ago. The rest of the day will be spent on work.

Jag is doing well, so is Ty. Tomorrow Lori and I are down at Libby’s for our dermatology appointment at 11 and then we’ll grab Ty and head up the hill. Then it’s home sweet home until next Tuesday when I have a meeting in Denver.

Lori and I are committed to decluttering our lives and the house. All excess baggage, mentally and physically, are going away. Time to clean and lean out! That is it for today. Enjoy your day and God Bless.

D-Day

79 years ago today was the day the allies landed on the beaches of Normandy France. It was a big turning point in the war. I just read a factual account of this called Band of Brothers which was quite a riveting story. Hard to believe it’s almost been 80 years. Not many, if any, veterans left.

Sunny and green up here. I’m headed down to Denver to drop Ty and pick up some wine from the warehouse and return some shoes along with a couple other stops. Lori is in Edwards today. Ty is up and ready to go. He has about 3 or 4 places lined up to try to get a job. We’ll pick him up when were done with our derm appointment on Thursday.

I cleaned out the garage yesterday and sent most all of Dixie’s broken furniture to the dump. Good to have that crossed off my list. Orkin came too but I already had the ants all taken care of.

7am now so time to go. Make it a great day and God Bless.

New week

Lots going on. Tough loss last night in the Nuggets game. We just never got it going and were screwed by the refs too. On to Wednesday. I’m headed to the gym, Lori is off to the office. I have a couple calls until 12:30 today. Yesterday I went and picked up Ty and dropped stuff to Jagger who starts school today. We all met at Tommy’s for a bit.

Ty needs to clean his room today and keep setting up interviews for jobs. I might be in Denver tomorrow and if so, he’ll go with me. That’s it for the day. Blue sky and sunny up here even though we had some rain on and off yesterday. It’s nothing like Denver though, they’ve been getting hammered.

Have a great week, God Bless.

Busy

Yesterday we accomplished a lot and today will be more of the same. I’m off to Denver at 7 to pick up Ty, meet Jagger and drop him more stuff, pick up some steaks at Edwards (for the big game tonight) and hopefully be back between noon and 1.

Upon arriving home, we found some small ants coming up through the floor boards over by the window. This happened a year or so ago too and they pretty much stay in one spot and go in and out of the ant traps I put down. Orkin will be here tomorrow afternoon to spray them and put and end to them. It’s because of all the moisture we’ve had. They’re harmless but annoying.

Blue sky up here. I was out with my shirt off yesterday getting some sun as it was 70 and sunny in the afternoon. Looks foggy and soggy in Denver. Big game tonight at 6, can’t wait!

We hit the gym hard yesterday and are both down shedding about 90% of what we gained on our trip. It was mostly salt and water weight.

My Partner Brian and I are finally starting our new business. In general it’s an exclusive wine club for extremely high end VVIP consumers that want the best and hardest to find wines. We’ll have a retail license in California along with a store front but won’t serve the public. We need to do that for license requirements. Everything is basically a pre-sell as all product will come in and then ship to the customer. We’ll also have storage facilities for customers to store their wine purchases if they don’t want to take immediate possession. The goal is to scale this in 24 to 48 months and spin it off. We’ve been working on it for a year and can’t seem to find any holes in our plan. Might even eventually retire from the import business on a day to day level as the projected cash flow here is so strong, we’ll be able to do so. More to come but the money is there and so are the customers as both are lined up. We’re limiting both which is a good place to be. Our customer list is a who’s who of a mixture of celebrities and sports figures and uber wealthy people as we’re charging a hefty fee to even join. To get in, you essentially need to apply. People always want what they can’t get and even more, what other people can’t get. More to come but we’re close to the launch point. Exciting.

That’s it, time to move and groove, God Bless and Go Nuggets!
