Nice win

I was up until almost midnight watching the Buffs beat Wyoming. It was a good game and our QB played like we thought he’d play when we picked him up in the off season. Good win. Now let’s hope the Bronco’s beat the Chargers today. Last year, if the Buffalo’s won, the Bronco’s won. If they lost, so did the Bronco’s. Hoping that trend continues this year.

Tens of thousands are lining up in Phoenix right now for Charlie Kirk’s memorial service. It starts at noon. Thousands also showed up at CSU in Ft Collins yesterday here in Colorado. This is a good sign for the Country. The left is still full of hate though, so the war is nowhere near over. It’ll take years for the Country to come together, if we ever do. I’m not so sure as many on the left are brainwashed by years of radical teachers and left-wing groups. Hope I’m wrong.

We had a nice lunch yesterday with Ben and Eleni who drove down to Eagle to meet us. Ben’s lifetime friend, a rancher who was 68, passed away the other day and the service is Wednesday. He lived on a 6000-acre ranch his whole life and died, of all things, from a bee sting! This guy was as tough as any one you ever knew and apparently didn’t know he was allergic to bees. The Flight For Life helicopter made it to him but by the time they flew him to the hospital, he was gone! Unbelievable. Another one that makes you stop and think about life, so sad.

Lori is leaving around 9 or so for Katy’s service down in Greenwood Village in Denver at noon. She’s adamant that I don’t need to go. She made popovers yesterday and is making some more this morning as the eggs weren’t at room temperature yesterday which made them denser that they should be. Still, they were good. Mom used to make them when we were kids.

Tom’s house is on the market! I told him I’m sure it’ll sell fast as it’s a great house, all fixed up and in a great neighborhood. Guess he had like 16 people through over the weekend.

Big week coming up being the last full week of September and then we’re off to Italy. A couple of our aspen trees out back are already turning orange. The sunsets are nice and the colors are changing fast. Next weekend will be the best time to catch the change before the trees drop their leaves. It’s my favorite time of year. Looks like we’ll be hunting down near Gunnison the first of November. Could be snow by then, we’ll see.

Here’s a picture from the other night. The line on the right is water dripping down from the downspout on the roof from a rainstorm, ha. Not a scratch on your computer screen!

God Bless.

Ten Days Out

Ten days from today, we leave for Italy. Yesterday we went down to Denver so Lori could have her hair done. I went to REI with Jagger and then we had lunch, while waiting for her.

Our longtime friend and hairdresser, of over 25 years, looked like she aged ten years from her scrape with death a few months ago. You might remember she had something wrong internally, was opened up for a few days, had sepsis, and almost died. She now has to have a hernia operation October 2nd from a hernia she got from her incision. We feel so sorry for her as she lost a bunch of her hair and as I said, just looks way older. Thankfully she didn’t die. Lesson here is life is fleeting, and things can change in a day, or a moment. As you get older, there are lots of these wake-up calls, as most of our friends are older being the same age as us. It’s just part of life, but when you grow up and see some people just going through the motions, it makes you question what to do with your time. As I always say, time and freedom are the most important things now. Not more money, a bigger house, a new car. Spending time with family and doing things you enjoy are the goal. Just my rant for the day.

Ty is off today, and Lori and I are going to lunch in the Village with Ben and Eleni. Might get a few rain showers up here this afternoon. Tomorrow Lori has Katy’s memorial service in Denver and says she can go alone, as she’ll be hanging with the girls she worked with. I might still drive her and drop her off and then pick her up. She says I should stay home and watch football though as she knows it’s a big game. If she changes her mind, I’ll still drive her.

That’s it, have a great day, take care, God Bless.

Denver

I have a call at 8 this morning and Lori has a hair appointment at 11:15. If I’m done, I’ll drive her. Ty is already at work.

I just finished reading the book Crow Killer. It’s the true story of Jeremiah Johnson. Pretty amazing book. If people these days had to survive as they did in the mid to late 1800’s, most wouldn’t make it. It shows you just how soft we’ve become as a species in 150 years or so. Most would say how far we’ve advanced, and while we have technologically, you could easily argue that we’ve gone backwards socially. Kind of eerie that while I was reading this book, that Robert Redford passed away, as of course, he played Johnson in the hit 1972 movie. I still remember the first time I saw it (probably seen it over 50 times, literally) in a little movie theater in Glenwood Springs Colorado in the early 70’s. Lots of life lessons in that book.

It’s about 7am now and I need to shower and put out the trash before my call. This is the last weekend of summer with Fall starting Monday. Get out and enjoy it! God Bless.

Staying cool

Nice up here. Snow way up high and good rain down here. I turned off the sprinklers, as I said the other day, to save money. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see our first snowfall in a few weeks. Tis the season.

Yesterday afternoon Lori and I ran up to Edwards to see Jagger who came up for a dentist appointment. He had to hurry back as he had something going on last night. Good to see him. We have a great dentist who is also a good friend. Thankfully we have his cell phone, and he takes care of us whenever we have a problem.

Ty’s almost out the door for work. Lori is working from home today, so am I. She’s going to Denver tomorrow to get her hair done and then has Katy’s memorial service on Sunday. Katy was one of her nurses when she worked at Dr. Rodger’s plastic surgery practice when we lived in Denver. She was a sweet younger girl who when working with Lori, finally got married and I think had a kid. Right after, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer. We thought she was in remission, but cancer tends to come back. So sad. The service is from 12 until 3 Sunday and Lori said she’s fine going alone. I offered to go, but she said that’s ok. I’ll still probably go with her, as that’s the right thing to do.

People are losing their jobs left and right for mocking, celebrating and making fun of Charlie Kirk’s death, and we’re just fine with that. The latest and most deserving to go is Jimmy Kimmel! This guy is a vile human who should have been cancelled years ago. The tide is turning as these people are now getting the same medicine they’ve been dishing out for years. Funny how they cry foul or not fair, when it happens to them. Typical Democrat. Play the victim. Good to see America is no longer putting up with their crap. Time to stand up for what’s right.

That’s it, have a great day and God Bless.

A soaker

Had some big rain yesterday evening. Time to turn the sprinklers off to save money. Don’t think we need them anymore this year. Rain started in the valley around 3 and was on and off until around sunset. Always good to get rain as long as no fires start.

Super busy today as I am every day. We’re going to the gym and then will start our workday. Ty worked for a few hours yesterday morning as a coworker was sick. He works again today. Lori and Ty are both on Z Paks as they feel like they’re getting a cold. Luckily, we can call in prescriptions when we need them.

The days are getting shorter as the year goes by. Usually, it’s light outside by now at 6:20. Not today. The colors are turning, and it won’t be long now before the trees drop their leaves. The Fall Equinox starts Monday.

That’s it for today. Have a great day, be well, stay safe, (watch out for left wing loonies) and God Bless.

Snow

Here it comes, not here at the house, but up on the peaks. Hopefully we’ll have an Indian summer. That means a nice fall and a late start to winter. It is in the 30’s up here though in the mornings, albeit the high 30’s.

Yesterday afternoon Harley threw up all over the dining room rug. It was so gross and took me a good hour to clean up. I had to borrow the neighbors steam cleaner and Lori used it again when she made it home.

Work is coming along well. I’m super busy wrapping up that big deal which looks like it should, (knock on wood) finally get signed on Thursday.

Dr. B’s dad isn’t doing well back in New York, so he flies out today or could already be gone if he was able to get a flight last night. Lori had to reschedule all his surgeries for the next few days.

Two weeks from today we’re off to Italy. Italy this time of year is spectacular. The tourists are gone for the most part, the food is great (it’s truffle season), and the weather is nice. It’ll be a bit of a grueling trip as we pack and unpack six times in ten days, but it’s still Italy in the fall.

While things are still a mess out there, it looks like the killing of Charlie Kirk is a turning point for the Country. People everywhere are speaking out and standing up for what’s right. The silent majority is waking up and no longer silent. The bullies on the left don’t like this and are unbelievably still spewing hate and evil, and it will probably get worse, but like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, I believe good will win over evil.

Last, Robert Redford has passed away. He was one of the great actors of our time. We all remember Butch Cassiddy and the Sundance Kid. Flipping through channels last night, I happened to watch the end of Three Days of the Condor, and of course my favorite movie of all time is Jeremiah Johnson. He was 89, RIP. Thought he was younger. You can’t beat Father time.

God Bless

Tax Day

Time to send tens of thousands of dollars to the government today. What a waste. You know how I feel about the taxes that those of us who work for a living pay. We pay more and more each year to cover expenses for those who don’t work, and then when we do pay, we get less for our money. No way around it though, until we can vote the freeloaders (career politicians) in D.C. out.

We had a fun dinner with Lori’s team after the Broncos had a win stolen from them with a fantom call with no time left on the clock. Hard to believe that in 2025, referees can still get it wrong.

Ty golfed at Red Sky Ranch with some clients from work. They love him and took him golfing at the best course in the valley. He had a couple birdies, a bunch of pars and yes, some bogeys. He had fun. He works today.

Lori works today in Vail. Starting in November, she stops going to Frisco as they’re not going to use that office anymore. Then it’ll just be Vail all the time.

Looks like I’m going to stay with a new suburban. I’ve looked at every car out there from Range Rovers to Mercedes to the new Lexus and they all have issues while the burb seems to be the most solid. The Mercedes is the only one still in the running, but I’m basically a “buy American” guy.

That’s it, time to go. Have a great day, think of Tom and us paying for all the losers out there who don’t want to work! Ha. God Bless.

Great Show

Yesterday after Costco and doing stuff around the house, we took off around 4:30 to go to the concert. We went to Gerry and Marci’s and then all headed to Elways for dinner. We made it to the amphitheater around 8pm, 30 minutes before the opening act was over. Good call to skip them.

The Black Crowes came on around 9 and it was non-stop dancing and fun for the next 90 minutes. We, and the entire crowd, didn’t sit down once! We were in the 5th row which was prefect as we were eye level with the band. We left a couple songs before it was over to beat the crowds and walk back to the Village. It was really loud, and the bass was turned up so much, your whole body shook with every note. That was the only downside, the sound could have been better. Still, an epic show as they’re such a good band and have tons of great hits over the past 35 years. Their first album came out in 1989.

Marci was so buzzed from eating gummies! She’s my age and I thought she was going to pass out or for sure and I’d be carrying her back! We found one of those rickshaw bikes and I told Gerry and Marci to take it. Gerry has a bad foot and is 78 years old. Lori and I walked back to Elways where our cars were parked. Marci was so funny all night!

We were asleep by midnight and today have Lori’s team (5 of them) over for dinner at 6, right after the Bronco game. Looks like some snow up high tonight. Only above 10,000 or 11,000 feet though, so no worry.

That’s it, time to go. I’m meeting Tom who left Carbondale on his way back to DIA, in about 30 minutes, down by the highway to get some samples. Tom is my guy from California who worked a wine festival in Snowmass the past few days.

Have a great day, take care and God Bless.

Home

It was easier travelling to and from Europe than to and from Seattle. I couldn’t believe how packed the airports in both Denver and Seattle were. After all, it’s the middle of September, not summer. Then, it took me 4 and 1/2 hours to get home. After landing at 12:30, I was home at 5:15.

Good trip, my deal is 90% done but until it’s done, it’s not done. Tonight, we’re going to the Black Crowes concert at the amphitheater in Vail. Should be a great show, but it is outside. We could get some rain and I think it even snowed on top of the pass.

Ty’s off to work and we’re getting ready to go to the gym. We’ll be around the house all day, with a trip to Costco thrown in. Davy might come over to hang out before he takes his 5- and 10-year-old camping tonight. Abbey is in Michigan as her dad had a couple stints put in earlier in the week.

Lots of division in the Country over Charlie Kirks murder. They now have a 22-year-old kid in custody who allegedly did it. He was a gamer who was radicalized online. The guy in Butler PA who shot Trump was 20 years old, the shooter in Minnesota a few weeks ago was 23 and this kid is 22! All were easily influenced online, and I’m sure convinced that what they were doing was a good thing. Just look at the Democrats words daily and it’s easy to see how a young kid would think they’re doing the right thing. Again, 20 to 23 years old! Unbelievable. Now reality sets in and Utah has the death penalty, and I’m sure this “kid” is second guessing his actions. Maybe I’m wrong and he’s been so brainwashed that he thinks he still was in the right. After all, you have grown adults of all ages defending and even celebrating the murder. I have a hard time with this as I think most people do, as no matter what anyone believes, I would never celebrate anyone’s murder. Anyone celebrating murder has serious mental problems and should be avoided. all you can do is pray for them.

That’s it, time to go, have a great day, stay safe and God Bless.

Headed home

Great day in Seattle. My new partners are really smart, successful, and want nothing more than to make the Company bigger and better and to manage it and run it for years after I retire. Besides a perpetual money stream for me, there are other benefits (mainly tax benefits) as well. It’s like a new dawn with new energy infused into the Company. Not patting myself on my back, but I did the whole deal from start to finish.

Hope to land in Denver by noon, grab some lunch with Jag and maybe look at a new car, time permitting. Everyone is still reeling from the Charlie Kirk murder yesterday. Ty is taking it particularly hard, disillusioned at the Country and liberals in particular. Can’t really blame him. Everyone I know across the Country is fed up with the left and their crap. Hope it ends peacefully, and things can go back to the way they were 40 years or so ago. Sadly, I’m not sure we can ever go back. Man, we didn’t know how good we had it in the 70’s.

That’s about it. Hope everyone is well. Take care, please be careful as everyone is amped up right now, and God Bless.
