Doing well

Yesterday on my quick trip to Denver, I met up with my buddy Art who has been dealing with severe depression for about a year. Happily, he’s doing way better than he was last year. Last time I saw him he was so drugged up he was like a zombie. He’s almost back to what we all think is normal, at least on the outside. Mental health these days is a big deal. Guess it probably always was but when we were kids, it didn’t seem as common. Maybe everyone just kept it in, I’m not sure. Anyhow, glad he’s doing well.

Lori is in Edwards today and she’s going with the girls, (Adriana, Melissa and Eleni) to dinner tonight after work at Zino. She’d rather just come home but should go as she committed and it’s right after work and she’ll have fun.

No snow on the driveway but a little on the grass so far. We’ll see how the rest of the day plays out. I have to go to Vail later today so hope it misses us.

They’re now pushing a covid nasal vaccine. When will people learn? Not sure about you all, but we’re through with any more shots. Follow the money and you’ll have a whole different view of the covid thing.

We’re trying to decide where to go for summer vacation. We want to do it on points, airline and hotel, so we need to plane it out. Good news is we have over 1 million United miles and about 700,000 Marriott/Westin points so it’s pretty wide open. We just need to check schedules. Right now I have France mid-July and we’re all in Arizona for Labor Day, so end of May or early June looks like the best time.

70’s this weekend for Dixie’s birthday and Easter, whoo hoo! Better start getting things prepared. Have a great Tuesday and God Bless.

Windy

Last night the wind was blowing, so much that I kept waking up here and there. The day was nice though which was good. In the morning the boys, (3 of them, Ethan wasn’t feeling well), went to the range with Steve for some training and fun. In the meantime, I dropped Lori at her mom’s who wasn’t feeling well. After cleaning up at her place and getting Dixie to take a shower, they told Lori that a stomach bug had been going around the building. Thanks for the heads up, after the fact!

The boys left around 11 and Lori and I did stuff around the house for the rest of the day. I did go wash her car and fill it up with gas. Later in the day, Lori wanted to get some sun but with the wind, there was a chill in the air. Being smart, she turned my truck around so the truck bed was facing the sun and laid down in the back of the truck in the driveway! Funny but pretty smart. The truck bed made a nice wind break and she was able to get her sun! For most of the day, she wasn’t feeling too well. Hope she’s better this morning. My rash is getting better and I’m off to Denver at 7. Lori is going into the office this morning but will hopefully get out of there early today.

Time to get moving, April 3rd already. A little snow tomorrow which clears out in 24 hours. Bring on Spring. Have a great week, God Bless.

Hanging with the boys

Jag’s three buddies came over yesterday afternoon after skiing and hung out and spent the night. They’re good guys and we’ve known them since Jag started college. They played some cards and smoked some cigars and had a few beers. This morning we’re going to the range for a little friendly competition. They’ll all head back to Boulder today.

I’m headed to Denver tomorrow for a couple morning meetings. Ty called yesterday with some big news! He told us Maddie is pregnant! I was thinking immediately, of course she is, what else could happen, then thankfully he said, April Fools Day! Thank God. Lori didn’t hear him call me so he called her a few minutes later but in a couple seconds, she figured out it was a prank before he even told her. That would have been all we need, right!

Castle Peak just called and Dixie wasn’t feeling well last night. Lori and I will go over there in about an hour after we get the boys situated at the range. Steve is going to run them through some drills so he’ll be with them at the range.

I took a steroid yesterday for my sun rash. It seems to be much better today. Weather looks good. I think we have one more small chance of snow Tuesday and then the weather looks good for the next two weeks. Hopefully this will be it for winter.

We’re thankful for another beautiful day and having Jagger up for the weekend. Next Saturday is Dixie’s 92nd birthday and then Sunday is Easter. Kristin is flying in Friday until Sunday. Pray for the people in Arkansas and the surrounding States. My good friend Bob and his wife Deb were in their storm shelter the night before last until 1am. They live about 45 minutes outside of Nashville. I keep asking him why in the hell he lives there. He’d love to move to Wyoming.

Have a great Sunday, God Bless.

April!

Bring it on! We’re ready for Spring! The sky is blue and it’s supposed to be in the 50’s or maybe even the 60’s today! Just what the doctor ordered.

Jag came up yesterday for the weekend. Great to have him here. Not sure if we’re doing anything special today or not. I think we’re going to the range with him and a few friends. Yesterday Tom, our builder, came by at put the baseboards back on as they were off from having the new floors installed. Before that, Lori and I went to the gym. We’ll probably head there again this morning.

We were going to head down and have lunch with Ty and Maddie but I think she has to work.

I had a sun rash from too much sun in Scottsdale, (we all did to some extent) but thankfully it’s pretty much going away now.

I booked my ticket for France in July yesterday. You need to book this far out to get a good fare and First Class. It’s still around $5K, ugh. I’ll fly into Brussel’s and then connect to Bordeaux. A week later I’ll fly out of Paris to Newark and then from there to Denver. We also booked our tickets to Arizona for James big birthday party and the Metallica concert over Labor Day. We’re flying JSX which is basically flying private. We’ll fly out of Rocky Mountain Airport into Phoenix. Our neighbor’s brother is a pilot for them so she gave us a friends and family code which saved us even more. In the end , it was about half the price of United! Super excited and we still get our United Miles on JSX!

Lori just woke up so time to go. Make it a great day. God Bless.

Last day of March!

Hope tomorrow brings April showers and not more March snowstorms! We didn’t get much on the ground but it was blowing and snowing from about 4 in the afternoon through the night. Looks like it’s all gone now.

Lori is taking Dixie to the dentist this morning and I have a conference call around 10. Dixie came up for a visit yesterday and was here when I made it back from Denver.

Five of us got together at James house for cigars yesterday. He of course is in California for two more weeks. Tomorrow we might go have lunch with Maddie and Ty, we’ll see. Jag and I met up yesterday at Phoebe’s for haircuts. I gave him this cool bag from London I just got called the Weekender so he has a bag for short trips. It was featured in the latest James Bond movie, pretty fun. I called Ali in London and had her send another one for me.

Looks like I’m headed to France for 8 days or so in July. We’re taking the whole sales team for our annual meeting. I need to look at flights asap to make sure I get First Class. Should be fun.

We’re headed out to the gym soon so we can get back and get on with our day. Hope you all have a great March 31st! God Bless.

Denver

This morning I need to drop a sample bottle of a French wine at the distributor, then pick up a couple lever actions that were being serviced and then meet Jagger for haircuts. Then about 11:15 or so I’ll be headed home. We might get some snow so I want to get out of town early.

Yesterday we were dragging from getting up at 3am the day before. I’m still a little off but better than yesterday. Lori worked until around 6:30 last night, long day. Only two days left in March! Looks like 70 in Denver this weekend meaning at least 60 up here.

That’s it, time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Home

Wow, what a whirlwind. We made it up and out the door by 3:45am and were at the airport by a little after 4. By the time we reached the main terminal on the train from the rental car place, we were joined by a thousand or two of fellow travelers. The TSA Pre-check line was so long, it was longer than the regular line. Jag headed to the regular line while Lori and I proceeded to the Clear line. Thank God we had Clear or we would have missed our flight. Jag still beat us through security though, ha.

We took off at 6am as scheduled and arrived around 8:15am in Denver. It was a short 75 minute flight with the time difference. We lugged ourselves and luggage to the truck and headed to Tommy’s to pick up Jagger’s car. We all then went to Whole Foods to load Jag up on some groceries before heading home.

We pulled into Vail around noon to pick up Harley. She tore up her bed into little pieces and wasn’t a very good girl for the vet. I guess she tried to bite the vet when they were going to cut her nails so they didn’t cut them, ugh. We’ll have to take her back and give her a shot to cut them.

We made it home and started organizing things around the house. James leaves today for some press and practice for two weeks in California before the tour so they had us over last night for dinner. We were super tired but went sine he was leaving. He’ll be back the 13th and then leave for Amsterdam on the 15th for two weeks. They have about 10 days of rehearsal’s with the new stage and production people before the first two shows of the 16 month long tour. They’re pretty good about spacing it out. After two weeks, he comes home for about 10 days and then is out for a month back in Europe. They then go on for about two weeks, and off for about two weeks for months. Addy bought Lori a gift in Miami where they went for a wedding for someone in her family and she also framed a picture of the four of us bowling a few months ago.

Finally we headed home a little before 8 and were in bed by 8:30. I fell asleep by 9. I’m still a little groggy this morning but will be at the gym by 8, while Lori is headed to Vail today for work. Hard to believe Saturday is April 1st! Here we go! Fun trip but good to be home, God Bless.

Fun trip

Yesterday was more sun time, maybe a little too much. We were only out from about 8:30 until 11 too. Then we headed down to Old Town to meet Robi and Robert for lunch. After that it was a stop to get Jag some work clothes. Then back to the hotel to try to grab the last bit of sun at the pool. Unfortunately when we arrived the sun was behind a cloud. I went back to the room to put a work fire out and then of course the sun came out!

We got up at 3 and are heading to the airport at 3:50. Our flight is at 6 and we should be in Denver a little after 8am. Fun trip with sun, family and good times. Lori’s phone still blew up with work calls as she can’t get away from her job. I told her she just needs to turn it off and leave it off!

That’s it, time to get moving, make it a great day and God Bless!

Home safe

Yesterday was more fun in the sun. It was also a big day as Ty took his first flight solo home to Denver. He took an Uber to the airport, explained why he didn’t have an ID to TSA, made it through security and made his flight home. His flight was at 6 so by the time he made it home to his dorm, it was 10:30.

Jag, Lori and I went to dinner with Brian and Laura. The restaurant, Lure, was really good, and really close, probably 3 minutes down the road.

Today we’ll hit the pool for a few hours and then maybe run down to Old Town and meet Robi and Robert for lunch. We’ll call them this morning. After that, we need to get Jag some new clothes for his internship this summer. Scottsdale or Arizona in general, has nicer stores and clothes than we do in Denver. Especially summer clothes!

It’s been a fun trip. The weather has been great and we had a great time as a family. Too bad Ty has to miss today but school comes first. Good news is the temperatures in Colorado are warming up Tuesday for the foreseeable future, at least 50 degrees or more at home, so they say.

Time to go, hope all’s well, bring on Spring! God Bless.

Fun in the sun!

What a day. We started out with a crappy breakfast at a place close by. It was Ty, Lori and I as Jagger slept in. Then we hit the pool from about 10 until 3. We all got some much needed sun! After that we hung out a bit before heading out to our anniversary dinner. I found this French bistro that was just like you were in France. It is owned by a couple from France and everything from the escargot to the sole was amazing. Lori and Jag had a cocktail before dinner and then we ordered a bottle of Montrachet for dinner. Ty, Lori and Jagger drank that although I had a sip as after all, it was Montrachet.

The cocktail hit Lori particularly hard. She had a great time as she was a little tipsy. It was super fun as when Mom has fun, we all have fun! We were home a little before 9 and that was the evening.

Today I think Ty is flying home as he has a quiz in Excel class he can’t miss tomorrow. I think we’ll put him on a plane around 2. He’ll have to talk his way through TSA as remember, he doesn’t have a physical drivers license. Meanwhile we have another daybed booked at the pool that I might switch to tomorrow as it’ll be warmer. That way we can hit Old Town after we drop Ty at the airport.

Tonight we’re going to dinner with Laura and Brian right by the hotel at Lure, a fish house. It’s 6:30 now as I wake up around 5:30 every morning which is 6:30 Colorado time. Lori looked especially beautiful last night. She always looks great but last night looked like she was out of a movie.

That’s it! A couple more days of fun in the sun! We love it! God Bless.
