Hanging with Ms. Dixie

Yesterday after the gym, Costco and some other stuff, we went to visit Dixie and hang out for a while. She’s fine physically which is a miracle. Don’t forget, she has heart failure, kidney failure, ankles and feet the size of an elephant, stomach issues and dementia, but just keeps on ticking. She’ll be 92 in a bit over a month. I call her the energizer bunny after the old battery commercials. For the most part, she’s happy which is good. She does think her parents and siblings are all in Europe on an extended vacation. We started that a few months ago as it was like Groundhog Day having to tell her over and over her parents passed away years ago. She was shocked and saddened every day as she’d wake up thinking she was just with them or had talked to them. So there, she’s fine, jokes with us and watches tv and is stubborn as ever, but happy. Not sure I want to be that way though ever.

It’s a mix of blue sky and grey clouds outside. No snow and I think even though it’s forecasted for the mountains, we’re in the eye of the storm. They say strong winds though today, we’ll see. It was a little windy last night.

Looks like covid was a joke for the most part. Yes in the beginning it killed people and yes, it was man made, no doubt about that, but the big killer was the shot. A new study shows 8 times as many people died in six months from the shot as did die from covid in 18 months! WTF? Everyone I know regrets getting the shot. Even those that were all pro-vaccine a year ago. Woody Harrelson had it right when he said last week on Saturday Night Live that the largest drug cartel in the World made everyone stay in their homes until they took their drugs. Even Bill Maher, the liberal comedian on HBO said all the covid deniers are looking pretty good now. Lesson here, don’t trust anyone, think for yourself. What a mess we’re in. God we need new leadership. Now the administration is trying to get us into a World War. The idiot comedian running Ukraine said yesterday that our sons and daughters are soon going to have to fight and die over there like theirs are! Fuck that, our kids are never going to fight some proxy war over there. What happened to the 8 million men they had? This is all a huge money laundering scam. You’ll see a bunch of new propaganda promoting saving them as public opinion is changing. Guess I had too much coffee this morning.

Lori wants to go to the gym so I guess I’m going to the gym. I could take a break today but what the hell, I’ll do a few miles on the treadmill. Looks like we’re going to Arizona at the end of the month! A close friend for 20 years, Laura, will be there and we have a business deal we’re working on. Jag has Spring Break then too so we’ll get a nice hotel somewhere and hang. Think we’re coming down on the 24th.

Have a great Sunday, read a book, take a walk, call a friend or call us! That’s all folks, God Bless.

In the groove

Lori and Addy had another great day at the range. They’ve come a really long way in a few short hours. I ran up valley and picked up lunch for them while they were training. Later in the day I ran to Costco and the grocery store. After that we settled in and watched a movie before the big showdown between the Nuggets and the Grizzles. The first half was rough as we couldn’t hit a 3 pointer but after 3 quarters we were tied and in the 4th, dominated! It was a great game in true Nuggets fashion where if were not leading from the start, we hang around and then stomp. It’s a fun year for basketball in Denver.

Today, well, you guessed it, we’re headed to the gym and then I’m not sure what’s up. Jag might come up to visit, we’re not sure. No real snow, just a dusting that I can blow off with the leaf blower. Lori had a patient who we’ve known in the valley since we moved here, text from the ER last night as they wanted to do a spinal tap thinking he had meningitis. You don’t want to fool around with that as you could lose a limb or two so she went into instant “I got this” mode. In minutes she had a PA and Dr. B, who was in Miami, calling the patient and doctors in the ER. Not sure of the outcome as I was sucked into the game. I’ll ask her this morning.

Marty is back from Grand Caymen late tonight and James is having a so so time in Calgary. I guess shooting a movie is a lot of sitting around. Cold up there too. He’s not back until next Wednesday. He texts daily updates though.

That’s it, no bozo talk today, I’m taking a break pretending he isn’t President, ha. Enjoy your weekend and God Bless.

Good news

It’s Friday! Seems like a Saturday so guess I’m getting a 3 day weekend, at least in my mind. Yesterday the girls went shooting. It was a big day, pretty traumatic. I’m not going to go into details but in Adriana’s past there was an incident that involved a handgun that would scar any of us. After 12 years, she was ready to face her fears and handled it well. Today the girls are going back for another range session. Need to stay on the horse. By the way, they both did really well, especially Lori.

First up this morning we’re headed back to the gym. It’s like Groundhog Day. Sometimes it’s a challenge to go but it’s pretty much part of our daily routine now. Ty worked the Bruce Springsteen concert last night. Excited to hear how it went. Jag might come up this weekend, we’ll see.

Not much else without diving into how fucked up things are in the Country. Think I’ll spare all of us today as we all pretty much know it. God help us. Have a great 3 day weekend, ha! God Bless.

Blame game

Man, whatever goes bad these days seems to be Trumps fault. Yesterday Biden chuckled when talking about a mom who lost two kids to fentanyl saying it was Trump’s fault. This is just one more thing to blame on the former President. Remember, the train derailment, which was due to faulty bearings in a wheel, it was also Trumps fault, even though fact checkers at he left leaning Washington Post said that’s just not true. Biden’s been in office for about 2 years now yet everything from crime to inflation is either Trump or the Republican’s fault. Funny thing is the far left, actually believes this. Biden also says he’s banning all assault rifles (by the way, there’s no such thing) and high capacity magazines as apparently guns kill people, not people. The number one killer of people 17 to 45 in this Country is, you guessed it, fentanyl. It’s like these guys are purposely trying to destroy the Country. If you don’t see that, you are part of the problem. At least the democratic hub of Chicago voted out their waco loser mayor yesterday with the leading vote getter running against crime. Of course she blamed her loss on racism, bwaaah. First time a sitting mayor in Chicago lost in over 40 years.

Ok, moving on, thank God we live where we live. I can’t imagine living in the middle of a blue State city. Denver isn’t as bad as let’s say, Chicago, L.A., or New Orleans or Philadelphia, but things are not good. Where I’m going is we need to stop the blame game and realize that children raised without values and responsibility are the culprit. It’s hard to fathom attacking a stranger or stealing from anyone, much less shooting a police officer. Kids and people don’t just wake up and say I’m going to go shoot a cop. They’ve been indoctrinated in our schools and through social media and conditioned to think authority and the rule of law is wrong or bad and that they can get away with things from a system that has no consequences for illegal activities. This has to stop. Will it? I don’t know. Not knowing means, be ready for it not to. Where do you think we’ll be in two years if the same people keep doing the same things? Won’t be pretty. Lori and I will be ok, we’re concerned about the future for our boys. God help us and save them from a future of lawlessness with a government that doesn’t care. Sad, bad situation right now.

Now to the day. We have a little snow but not much. The girls have a two hour private shooting lesson with Steve. He’s my Group 19 (Green Beret) buddy. We’re squeezing in a lesson before he heads out to Greenland in a few days for an op. Perfect time for the girls to get comfortable shooting and carrying a handgun. The boys are well. Jag wants to come up and go shooting too. I think Ty is working the Bruce Springsteen concert tonight at Ball Arena. Not sure if we’re going down tomorrow or not. Depends on the weather. We are off to the gym. Lori has us on a keto diet. We’ll see how that goes. My back is a bit sore from my back workout yesterday but I’m good. The dentist called when I was at the gym yesterday morning so after my workout I went down a few buildings for a teeth cleaning. Keep your teeth clean and healthy! Super important for your overall health to do so.

6:37 and time to get going. You know the old saying, use it or lose it! Off to shovel and then to the gym. Make it a great day, be well, stay safe and think for yourself! God Bless.

March!

Spring is coming. Daylight Savings time too. NFL free agency starts the 15th and St. Patrick’s Day is the 17th. In March we turn the corner from winter. We can still get snow but in 31 days it’ll be April! Bring it on.

Last night I managed to bring in another $225K in sales between 5 and 8pm to close February strong. It was touch and go there for a while. This is a big deal as I needed to get off to a good start to put 2022 behind me. March and April should be good months so I’m really focusing on May and June right now.

Lori is in Vail today. I’m hoping the weather misses us so I can get up on my new ladder and see how much ice is clogging up the gutter. The boys are well. We might go see them Friday.

I’m down to one cup of caffeine a day. That includes coffee and/or tea. I get sucked in and can drink 4, 5 or 6 a day if I don’t watch myself. I love coffee or I guess the buzz it gives you. Lori has us on a keto diet. Think that means basically zero carbs.

Time to get moving. I’ll head to the gym and then do some computer work. We might buy some plane tickets to Costa Rica for the boys so we can get passport appointments for them on Friday and not have to wait months to renew them. We just then cancel the tickets and reuse them to go somewhere else. I need to call and see what appointments are available Friday.

Make it a great day, keep your head on a swivel. Don’t look like a victim, walk with a purpose. Be a wolf, not a sheep, or at least act like one. Criminals prey on the weak in most cases. With more criminals in the Country, thanks Joe, the odds of encountering one are greater. Just saying. At the same time, don’t let it consume your life. Live your life! Enjoy! It’s short enough as it is, right? God Bless.

New ladder

Today I’m getting a new tall ladder so I can get the snow of the front overhang of the house. We have heat tape but it doesn’t melt the snow until it gets near the gutter. They have a tall green one I’ve been eyeing at Ace Hardware for a while.

Turns out Bill Gates fake meat causes cancer, hmm. He says it doesn’t but doctors says it does. Who are you going to believe? This is the same guy that said the vaccines were harmless. No matter how you feel about the shot, one thing is clear, it is not 100% harmless. But enough of that one. I’m a live and let live guy, do what you want but don’t tell others what to do.

Yesterday I made it to Denver by 9 and then did some grocery shopping. I called Ty over and over to drop off some food but he never answered so up the hill I went. He slept in until 11 and called me then but I was already passing Georgetown so I missed him yesterday. Jag has classes until 2 so I didn’t go through Boulder either. Maybe we’ll go see them Friday.

Ty did call Lori a bunch yesterday as he was making some homemade spaghetti sauce. He’s really into cooking. Who knows, he might end up being some great chef. He’s really into it. His pride and joy is a cast iron skillet a friend gave him for his birthday. He’s always searing something like a steak with fresh rosemary and sauteed onions or something in it. Below is a picture of his homemade sauce with fresh herbs, sausage and burger and pasta. Looks yummy!

We have a dusting of snow, just enough to cover the driveway and windshield of the truck. Nothing more. I think tomorrow night down south near Telluride they could get a foot or two. Right now it says maybe an inch and a half for us. I can live with that.

The NFL Combine starts today. That means nothing to anyone here except Tom and I, ha. The off season is exciting to us and we follow it closely. What else are we going to do?

Guess I’ll go. Lori is working from home today as Dr. B. is speaking at a conference in Snowmass. I don’t talk about it that much, but he is one brilliant guy. If I had any back or neck issues, he’s the only guy I’d go to. Without Lori though, he’d be lost. She’s the glue that keeps him together.

Make it a great day, God Bless.

Denver

6am and I’m trying to get out of here by 6:45 or 7. With luck I’ll be back by 2. Yesterday we brought Dixie up for almost the entire afternoon. Normally she doesn’t hang out that long but Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase was on tv and she enjoyed it.

I’m hoping to see both boys today, classes permitting. Lori is staying home to take Dixie for a haircut at 11. No snow yesterday. We had a lot of melting. Hopefully we’ll have another day of warm temps.

Almost March, we’re hoping it’s warmer than February. Great Nuggets win last night in overtime. Super fun. 6:10 now so time to move and groove. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

More Wednesday Snow?

Looks like for the 4th week in a row, snow will arrive on Wednesday, March 1st. I guess Wednesday has been the snowiest day of the week since 2019. Today though it’ll be nice up here. I’m organizing the basement and garage a bit and getting some things ready to go to the dump. I’m trying to convince Lori to let go of Dixie’s furniture that arrived broken when the movers delivered it six months ago. It’s taking up half of the garage.

This week the girls are having their first shooting lesson with Steve, weather permitting. Lori and Adriana are hopefully going to go Thursday as of right now. I’m headed to Denver tomorrow to drop the samples to my buddy and then see Ty and hopefully Jagger. Lori is taking Dixie to get her haircut at 11am.

We stopped to see Dixie yesterday after hanging out with James and Addie in the afternoon. Dixie is doing fine. We convinced her to go down for dinner. She’ll ask a question or say something and then 30 seconds later ask or say the same thing. But she’s happy.

Time to get going. I’m off weights and just doing a few miles on the treadmill every day. Enjoy the last Sunday of February. Take care and God Bless.

Clearing up

After snow again yesterday morning, it’s all clear here this morning. It snowed until about 11am and dumped another 4 inches or so. I was thinking of running down to Denver this morning but think I’ll go Monday instead. I need to drop some sample for the hotel convention event with hotel buyers from all over. It’s happening next week.

Lori wants to go to the gym this morning. Guess I’ll go and just do the treadmill. I’m laying off weights for a while. Lori says I’m sore from all the shoveling.

The boys are well and so is Dixie. James leave tomorrow to film that movie in Calgary for a week so we’ll probably hang out today for a bit. That’s another reason to go to Denver Monday. Plus it’ll be a lot warmer.

Hope Robert is healing up well. We are going to Arizona sometime soon when Lori heals up. We’ll probably wait until Spring training is over so the prices go down and the crowds are gone. We’re all thinking of going to the Metallica show September 1st to celebrate James 60th birthday which is a few weeks before then.

Time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Fun

Last night we had a fun time at dinner. That was despite the so so food and music that was too loud. We have a good group of people though so that made up for it. Before as I said, Lori and I went to Addie’s to hang out for an hour on the way. We made it home a little after 8.

Seems like a Saturday even though it’s Friday. Not sure what is up today other than a bunch of computer work. Might go down to Denver tomorrow for lunch, we’ll see. It’s cloudy out right now and trying to lightly snow, sort of like a mist of the white stuff. No real accumulation is forecast though, so we’ll probably get a foot or more.

Trash day so I need to roll out the trash can. The boys are well. Lori is still sleeping as she needed it. Time to go, make it a great day and God Bless.
