Denver

Quick trip this morning, hope to be back by 1 at the latest. Jag’s working out at 9, Ty has a call with James in Brazil at 8 and I think Lori is working from home. We had a little wind yesterday but it was calm last night. Jag has some friends coming up tonight and I think they rented a cabin at Sylvan lake for tomorrow night. It’s 10 minutes up the road and a nice little park and lake.

The Av’s won last night and now should have about a week off. It was a great hockey game. Ty washed and cleaned his car really well last night. Only a few weeks left of school for Ty. I think two weeks from today is his last day. Graduation is the 27th.

Time to get moving, make it a great day, stay safe and be well, GB.

Wind

The past couple days have been windy but nothing like it was last night. Even our heavy Adirondack chairs were blown around the yard. Windows shook and it was enough to wake you up over and over during the night. Had to be above 75 miles an hour. It’s going to be “breezy” today, according to the news, whatever that means. Then windy on Wednesday and Thursday, hmm.

Now to Mother’s Day. It was a nice, fun day. We dropped the girls for massages at 10 and then Marty and I hung out until we picked them up around 11;45. Then it was off to lunch where we met up with the boys. Our good friends, the Bradbury’s were there as well as Jag’s high school math teacher and her family. Lunch was really good. Restaurants are hit and miss these days. We then headed home and Marty and Melanie wanted to go to Costco so they headed there and then came over until about 6. For dinner the boys drove to Vail to get sushi to go from Matsu. Lori went to see her Mom but she refused to come up. She just didn’t want to go out, which is fine. All in all, Lori had a great day.

It’s a little windy but nothing like last night. I’m off to the gym for a 7am workout. I think Jag is going with me. Lori is getting another massage at noon as it really helped her head. Ty has school and I have a 9am call.

Time to get moving. Hope everyone had a great day, Make it a great week, God Bless.

Happy Mother’s Day

Today is the day to honor all moms. Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom, Lori, Annette, Robin and Dixie and all others who put their children ahead of themselves. Mother’s Day always seems to be a bigger deal than Father’s Day but we’ll get to that next month, ha. So today, thank your Mom whether she’s still with us or not. It’s not an easy job.

Yesterday Ty drove to Denver to get his suit and then was out last night until about 11:30. Jag showed up around 2 am as he decided to drive up after hanging out with friends. Lori, being a mom, got out of bed and helped him make his bed as she washed his sheets. We were not expecting him until this morning. I made a Costco run and then made it home to watch the hockey game. While I was gone, Lori laid outside to get some much-needed sun. Only problem was she got a little too much and is now read from her neck to her toes on her front side. She does cover her head with a towel so she has a nice little line on her neck. This morning she has a massage with Melanie so hopefully her sunburn won’t be too bad. After the girls massage, we’re all having lunch at the 4 Seasons. Then we’ll grab Dixie and bring her up for the afternoon and dinner if she feels like hanging out that long.

The wind was strong yesterday with gusts blowing 60 to 70 miles an hour. I asked Tom who said they didn’t have much wind at all, but Marty and Melanie, who flew in from Boston said the airport was one big brown cloud from all the wind and dust. May is usually windy up here every year. Then it calms down.

Friday night Pfizer did a huge document dump which companies and the government does when they don’t want any press or publicity. They think if they dump information on a Friday night, there’s the weekend before it gets noticed. Well not this time. A high level VP from Pfizer was arrested for fraud as it turns out they falsified their test results and knew the vaccine was not safe, yet went ahead with giving it to tens of millions of people. Hmm, anyone surprised? Something the government said is good for you turns out to be not true? How many lives have been needlessly lost? Now the Moderna vaccine has issues too and the news yesterday said, do not get the J&J, great. Hope they all go to jail but most will deflect blame and say something like, “we followed the science”. Where have we heard that before? Hope Fauci is held accountable too. A judge immediately granted Pfizer’s lawyers a media blackout so you have to search for it to find it right now but it’s out there. I’ll stop now but hopefully we all now know for sure, don’t believe everything you read or hear. Oh, and the White House is still pushing the vaccine, wtf?

Time to go, enjoy the day and call your mom if you can. If she’s gone, tell her how much you love and miss her as she’ll know, believe me! God Bless.

A bath

Lori just said Harley needs a bath and her nails cut, uh oh. That’s no easy job. Ty is off to Denver today to pick up his suit. Dixie wants to go dress shopping to get her mom a dress and thinks she’s living in Laverne Oklahoma. We finally had her up yesterday but she’s definitely fading. Her legs are weaker and she’s looking really pale these days. She tried to remember our last name yesterday and when I told her, she slapped her hands together and said, “that’s right, I like that name”. We’re planning on getting her up again tomorrow for Mother’s Day, after Lori’s massage and our lunch.

We’re headed to the gym, (what’s new right), and then Home Depot for some stuff Lori wants for the yard. Hockey is on at 2:30 so Tom will be watching for sure. He knows more about the game and the rules than I do, so often I text him with a question.

Politics is a mess with the Dems doing anything they can to change the subject. Everything is more expensive, and things are disappearing. Shouldn’t say I told you so, but…. I told you so. It’s only going to get worse, much worse, before it gets better. This is going to be a tough summer and even tougher fall. Don’t fall for the vaccine push that will be coming in a few months. That’ll for sure be another “national emergency” aka, distraction, the Dems will try to push to try to get you to ignore inflation, crime, illegal immigration and more. Don’t be fooled and for God’s sake, do not get any more shots! Even now with all the bad things coming to light from the vaccines, the White House is still pushing them, unbelievable.

7am so time to go. Be well, keep positive and think for yourself. God Bless.

Warming up

Here we go. In a few weeks, people will have their air conditioning going full blast. I think starting today we can leave the plants out all night. Yesterday the deer ate the flowers right off the top of the two geraniums Tommy bought Lori for her birthday. Lori is not very happy about that!

We were in Denver most of the day picking up Lori’s new car. She’s now has a brand new 2022 Porsche Cayenne. It’s a great car as I drove it home. Super comfortable, handles well and has good power. It’ll be much better for her up here in the mountains with the rain and snow. I had fun as I always do when buying a car. I look at it as a game and I pretty much always win.

We’re off the gym this morning before my 11am conference call. I should be done by 1. I just saw on the news that baby formula is basically out nationwide, hmm.

Today we told Dixie she has to come up! No excuses. On a sad note, my mom’s older sister, Auntie Dee, is probably going to pass away today. My cousin, her daughter, texted a few days ago saying she stopped eating and is ready to go. I don’t really get the “ready to go” part but Auntie Dee is I think 96 and has been in assisted living for over 10 years. She’s also in a wheelchair but her mind is sharp as a tack. I guess she and Chris, her daughter, talked and they decided to just increase her pain meds? I’m not really comfortable with the whole thing and I know Robi and Tommy aren’t either but it’s not our place. Prayers for her. She’s the last of that generation of family on mom’s side. I’m now the oldest of the family on the Rossow side. That’s my mom’s maiden name. Lots of good memories of when we were kids and of Auntie Dee who was about 10 years older than mom.

That’s it, time to go, make it a great day and God Bless.

Cino de Mayo

Yesterday we had a good day. Family, fun, laughs and food. Jag drove up for dinner and then headed back home as he has something going on today as a lot of his friends are leaving to go home for the summer. Ty has his big Stats test at noon and Lori and I are off to Denver to check out a car. 60 degrees today and then mid to high 70’s, maybe even 80’s for the next week or so.

Lori opened some presents which were mostly things to plant and grow but she did get a new pair of headphones. She’s so hard to buy for.

I ordered 4 bags or about 90 pounds of dog food yesterday off Amazon. It cost us $300 which is up from about $240 including tax and everything. Prior to finding it, the cheapest I found it was $350 so we jumped on it. Lots of things are quickly disappearing. Unless you are looking for specific things, you might not notice it at stores are good at filling up shelves and spreading things around to make things look normal. Get it while you can, whatever it is you use and need.

Jag will be back up in a few days. Lori and Melanie have massages at 10am on Mother’s Day and then we’re all going to brunch at the 4 Seasons.

Time to get moving, make it a great day, GB.

Happy Birthday!

Today is Lori’s birthday, Happy Birthday! She’s off to Frisco today for work but will cut out early as Jagger is coming up and we need to celebrate her day.

Yesterday I was down to Denver and back up by about 2. Lori was home at 7 and Ty at 5:30. Everyone is busy. I need to run down to see Dixie and have her sign a card for Lori. I told her it was Lori’s birthday about 5 times during our 5 minutes conversation. At one point she was struggling to get a sentence out and finally asked if I was interested in any women. I laughed and told her of course not as Lori and I have been married about 22 years. She said she forgot we were married, ha. Just another day in the life of Dixie.

We have a dusting of snow on the mountains but that’s it. It’s supposed to warm up after today. Time for me to get moving, hope you all have a great day. We have cake and presents for Lori and some other surprises for when she gets home tonight. Give her a call! God Bless.

One more day….

Tomorrow is Lori’s birthday! Not sure how old she’ll be, I think 40. Today she’s in Vail and I’m off to Denver. I should be back by 1 or 2 and Ty has another day of school. He thinks he did well on his AP Gov test. It was 4 1/2 hours long, ugh. Jag is coming up tomorrow and we’ll do something when Lori is home from work. She’s in Frisco tomorrow so she’ll be late. Maybe we’ll get some food to go or something. I need to stop and get her cake today on the way up the hill.

I made a little headway on the basement and my office yesterday. It was nice yesterday afternoon and I think will be so again today before a little rain tomorrow.

Oh, no more masks at the hospital or clinics up here. All the doctors and staff are thrilled. About time. Lots of people are getting the vid but it’s a mild strain with just a couple days of fatigue and a head cold. Nothing like when it started a couple years ago. About the only person I know that hasn’t had it is Tommy. He probably did and just didn’t know it. Hopefully it’s almost over. Thankfully it seems people of northern European decent seem to have more resistance to it than some other backgrounds. We’re Vikings you know. We didn’t get the flu shot this year either but are all ok.

Hard to believe it’s May 3rd. That means in 120 short days it’ll be September 3rd or Labor Day weekend. Summers go faster than winters up here. Need to make the most of it. Maybe Annette will come for a visit as summer in Colorado is hard to beat! And yes, it’s warm!

Almost 6am so time to get moving. Tommy bought Lori some potted geraniums I need to pick up today. Robi and Robert sent flowers too. I’m also picking up a present for her today.

Make it a great day, God Bless.

Rain!

Ok, it’s not a lot, but we did get some rain. We’ll take any we can get. It’s a little misty out with low clouds over the mountains outside our windows. Reminds me a lot of Tuscany in Italy.

Today Ty has his first AP test in Government. It’s at 8am. Jag is out of school and is coming up Wednesday for Lori’s birthday and will stay through Mother’s Day. Today I’m getting started on the basement.

Yesterday after a Costco run, we stopped and picked up 4 dozen more eggs from Kellie, our egg girl. We go through a lot of eggs! The farm behind her lost two lambs to a bear the other night. She has a bunch of new chicks and ducks so is on the lookout. Around 5, Marty came over for dinner. We hung out until around 8pm.

Looks like a warm weekend coming up. Should be in the high 70’s, maybe even the 80’s up here by Thursday. Lori will be in full planting mode. If you turn off the news and don’t pay attention to how Biden is wrecking the Country, it’s almost like a nice normal Springtime Day in May. It’s important to not get all consumed by all the crap going on and live your life and enjoy each day. But sadly, you do need to be aware and prepare, enough said.

Make it a great week, God Bless.

New Cars!

We were on the road by 8:15 and in Denver a little after 10. First stop was Prestige where we checked out a couple Audi’s for Ty but they didn’t have what we wanted. Next up was a drive by one of Lori’s favorite clothes stores where she ran in to return a pair of pants. Then Ty and I dropped Lori to get her hair done. We then headed back to Neiman to have his suit fitted. Once the tailor came down and started pinning his suit it was clear that it was way too big. Heather, the manager and I decided it just wasn’t going to work. Ty is in that in between size being a 40 long which most manufacturers don’t make. Ty was super bummed but I said let’s go down to Nordstrom. Jag drove down and met us so off the three of us went.

At Nordstrom’s we tried a Hugo Boss suit as we were told they run long. Thankfully it did! After some alterations it’ll be great. Ty found a new pair of shoes, a black t-shirt and some new cologne (both boys like cologne), so we headed out to get Lori. She was still getting her hair done so the boys and I had lunch at a great Aisan place. While I was surfing for cars online and talking with the dealer near Flatirons, I told the girl to give me a number on Jagger’s 2015 Q5 just out of curiosity. A few months ago my Chevy dealer gave me a number way more than it was worth so I thought I’d check. She said she would and we were headed there anyhow to look for a car for Ty.

After arrival we found two really nice, clean Audi A4’s. They wanted around $33K each, or $66,700 for both but the GM knew me from my Chevy dealer and my buddy Matt’s brother in-law runs the service department there. The GM was off but prepped his staff that I was coming. After getting the initial numbers from our salesgirl, Kristi, I said, just let me talk to the manager on duty. She look perplexed a bit but said ok. Apparently she didn’t know who I was, ha. Within 3 minutes, Jay the manager on duty, who knew I was friends with the GM and service manager and was a frequent buyer who understood the car business, agreed to give me both for $57K. He showed me the files on line and I bought both for around $300 more than they had into them. With it being the last day of the month, it’s super important for dealers to hit a monthly number just like it is for me, so it’s always the best day to buy. On top of that, no one ever buys two cars at once! The thing that made this doable for us was they had already given me a number of $18K for Jag’s car. We paid $24K four years ago and as you loyal blog readers know, he’s crunched that thing 3 or 4 times! Also his interest rate was 6% on his current car and I had already secured 2.99% before showing up. This made it a no brainer. Lori and I decided to each finance one car and put each boy on the loan so they can build credit. So, done deal. All that was left was 20 or 30 minutes of paperwork and we’d be on the road. But nooo, that wasn’t to be!

Everything that could go wrong from this point on, did go wrong. Nothing to do with us but with the dealer. Their printers broke, their internet went down, the finance girl messed up printing out the paperwork four times, and they were way short on staff. Over the next 3 hours, yes three freaking hours, we got to know Kristi our salesgirl pretty well. She’s a single mom, her husband died, she has three girls, and she was pretty fun. Without going into it, we knew some of the same people, (we knew some of her customers and most of her bosses) and after waiting so long, it turned comical. I would have left any other dealer as usually when I buy a new car, they have the paperwork ready for me and I’m in and out in about 10 minutes. In the end though, all was good. The boys are both thrilled, as they should be, and we’re paying less for 2 cars than we were for just Jag’s. Both cars are Certified meaning they still have warranties and will be good in the snow as they’re both Quattro’s meaning all wheel drive. By the time we left it was 7:30 pm and finally at 9:45, we pulled into the driveway. Ty made it home 45 minutes after us as he wanted to stop to show his friends.

It was a good day, both boys have new to them, reliable, good cars and we’re off the crunch bucket that was Jag’s car. Ty has his Prom suit and Lori’s hair is all fixed up. Me, well, if the boys and Lori are happy, I’m happy. Time to get moving so we can go to the gym. Hope everyone is safe and well, God Bless.

Check out these posers! Gotta love it!
