No rest for the weary

Yesterday we were in Thornton by 10am and Boulder by a little after 11. In the back of the truck we had a dresser, a tv stand and a desk. An hour later we had it upstairs and put together. Lori is a genius when it comes to fixing things and putting things together. We made it home by 3 and then Lori took her mom to get her nails done. I actually fell asleep around 6 for maybe 45 minutes. Ty was out with friends.

This morning we’re off to meet Marty and Melanie at Whole Foods in Frisco at 8:45 to get some food to go boating on Green Mountain Reservoir. We’ll cruise around and do some fishing with his new downriggers. We’re tired but it’ll be fun and we’ll be home mid-afternoon.

The Broncos looked good yesterday. It’s only pre-season but it was fun to watch. Back to Dixie, she played Bingo and met some new friends which is great. She seems to be settling into her new digs.

Dark clouds were here late yesterday afternoon but not much rain. Supposed to continue in this pattern for the next few days. Hopefully no new fires pop up. There is one by Frisco where we’re headed fishing but it seems to be under control. Looks like a new one in Utah and the Dixie fire in California is still going strong.

Looks like Kabul in Afghanistan has fallen. It looks like Saigon in 1975 with helicopters taking diplomats off the roof of our embassy. Biden really fucked up here, more than usual. We’re so conditioned to his missteps these days we mostly ignore them but this will have Worldwide ramifications as jihadi’s are already flocking to the Country to join forces as this is the new safe haven for their operations. Expect more 9/11 attacks to come. Everyone is blasting this move by us as weak, inept and 100% wrong. God help us.

Hang in there, buy some extra food and stay safe and healthy. That’s it, God Bless.

One more trip

Yesterday it seems like 20,000 kids and their parents were moving into their apartments in Boulder. The town was packed like New York on New Years Eve. We managed to get Jag and his stuff moved in and set up by about 3 or so in the afternoon. We then took him and Lexi to the store for groceries and spent about $750 getting them the essentials and a good foundation of food. This morning we’re off at 7:30 for one more trip to take down some stuff we bought at Costco up here last night. We’ll go straight to American Furniture Warehouse in Thornton for a desk, a dresser, and a tv stand before hopefully getting to Boulder by 11. With luck we’ll be out of there by 12:30 or 1.

Lexi starts spending the night there full time tomorrow as she has one more day of work at King Soopers. She’s a sweet kid. Hope all works out ok, seems like they’ve known each other for years as they’re good friends.

Dixie is doing fine, so is Ty. Lori and I are tired but we do what we have to do, right mom? Time to get moving so we can get on the road in an hour or so. Almost half way through August, Fall will be here soon! Get ready, God Bless.

Moving Day

Today we’re moving Jag into his apartment. We need to be out of here by 8:30. Hope he’s packed and ready. Last night at 5 he hadn’t really started, hmm. Can you say procrastinate?

Lori went to Denver and was home about 6 after stopping to see her mom. I went to James house for our weekly guys hang which we do every Thursday and Ty went down to the park for a concert and some other fun stuff that was going on. He made it home around 9.

As soon as we get Jag moved we can breathe for a few days. Tuesday Ty starts school. Two weeks from Monday I go to Utah hunting with former Denver Bronco Roulon Jones. We’re bow hunting this year which will be fun. Lori also needs to squeeze in a couple day trip to California to get some more stuff for her mom before then.

We’re picking Jag’s new bed up in Boulder around 10:30 so time to go. Need to load up whatever he’s packed into the truck too. More to come tomorrow, Friday the 13th too! God Bless.

Hair Day

Lori is off to Denver to get her hair done. I was going to go with her but think I’ll hang out and do some work around the house today. Yesterday Ty and I went to Frisco for school supplies and groceries. Today he’s volunteering at the Salvation Army. Jag will be packing to move tomorrow. Yesterday we bought his bed which we’ll pick up tomorrow morning in Boulder.

Biden is out of control. After getting over $1 Trillion in an infrastructure bill passed, the Dems are now trying to jam through a $3.5 Trillion dollar package. Does anyone really understand how much money this is? There are so many useless programs crammed in this bill that are a joke. Lobbyists are writing this thing and we’re paying for it. No of the people in Washington have even read the whole bill. They never do. Gas is up 42%, food 30%, hotels 24% and on and on. This is all directly due to runaway spending. Under Trump oil was over $70 a barrel and gas was about $2 a gallon, under Biden oil costs the same, but gas is between $4 and $5 a gallon (closer to $5!) depending on where you buy it! Looks like the tide is turning though, Cuomo is out in New York, where are all those celebrity Cuomo lovers now? Newsom looks like he’ll probably lose the recall election in California and the news is predicting a blood bath for the democrats in next years mid-terms due to immigration, crime, inflation and the pandemic which Sleepy Joe promised he’d stomp out in his first few months. God pray that they’re right. Finally things are hitting every day Americans and they’re waking up.

The boys and I found a giant tick on Harley yesterday. It was the size of your fingernail. It had been on her for at least a day. We managed to get it all off with tweezers. The vet says she’ll be fine. It was like some alien bug with it’s little six legs squirming and all fat and gorged with blood. Ty found it.

A buddy of mine called from Hawaii yesterday. He and his wife are stocking up on supplies as he’s convinced that things are going to come to a head in America, even in Hawaii. He needs some help getting some things he can’t get in Hawaii. Now Jeffrey isn’t one of those big preparedness guys. In fact he plays guitar for Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith and others. We’ve been buddies since the Guitar’s Etc. days back in the 80’s. He and his wife are really worried. This is a big shift for him and I was surprised when he told me of his concerns.

Lori and I and a close buddy of 20 years are going in on a vegetable farm in Grand Junction that churns out 5000 pounds of veggies a week on 5 acres. It’s a remarkable farm with a state of the art irrigation system and grows way more than the owner can sell. We’re setting up a system to sell shares to people and each week they’ll get a box of fresh organic vegetables for a fee. Food costs are rising daily and fresh organic food is at a premium. We have an option on an adjoining 20 acres if we need it. Looks like the canyon is opening Saturday. Good news as we have a quarter of beef in the freezer from a ranch over there to pick up. Our cost for steaks, burger, roasts and stew meat turned out to be $3.33 a pound for certified organic pasture raised black angus beef. We locked this in two years ago on a 5 year contract. Good move.

Dixie is fine, so is Lori and the boys. I’ve had a headache for a few days. Hope it goes away today. Cooler up here, especially at night which is nice. That’s it, time to move. Stay safe, God Bless.

Time Out

Ok, we need a break, not a vacation although that would be wonderful but how about just one day! One little day is all we ask. Doesn’t look like we’ll get one anytime soon. The boys started their laundry yesterday and said they were all done but in their mind I guess that means they filled up both washers and dryers. We had to finish drying and folding all of their clothes.

Jag went to Denver for the night and Ty had some friends come over for a movie after going out to dinner. Lori and I hung out trying to get some rest which didn’t come. We were up on and off most of the night for one reason or another.

Today Lori is in Frisco and I have to get some groceries and school supplies for Ty. Also need to get Jag his bed. Seems a little cooler this morning, nice. Looks like 80 degrees today up here.

Dixie had a good day. Probably the best she’s had in her new place. She likes it a lot and likes the food and is settling in. It’s a great place, sort of like a nice hotel, she has room service, a great chef, all kinds of activities and us visiting daily, what’s not to like! Of course I stopped and saw her yesterday and so did Lori on her way home. I was going to say I think I’ll take Friday off but that’s the day we’re moving Jag into his new apartment. Maybe in a week or two we can have a day off. I need to rest up to go hunting!

That’s it, be well, stay safe and healthy and God Bless.

5am

I need to be at the warehouse in Denver by 8 at the latest so I can head back up the hill. I’m picking up some wine and want to beat the heat so that’s why the early morning.

Yesterday Ty was fitted for his Terminator brace. It’s pretty cool looking and allows his leg to bend at different degrees depending on where it’s set. We have about another month before he’s healed. Luckily no surgery. Lori worked in Vail and we saw Dixie a few times. When she takes off her oxygen she gets confused. I’ll stop by today when I get back. If all goes well I’ll be back between 10 and 10:30.

Lori is working in Edwards today. Jag has packing to do and Ty needs to get his school list together. That’s it as I need to get moving. 5 am is awful early these days, God Bless.

More heat

Looks like a hot week. Temps in the 90’s all week. Smoke is sticking around too.

Yesterday we hit Costco to begin to shop for Jag’s apartment and bought some things for Dixie too. Lori then took Dixie’s stuff (a new down comforter, Claritin, etc.) over to her while I did some cleaning around the house. Later in the day we went back and picked Dixie up to bring her for dinner. Lori made a pork roast in the crock pot and we had pork tacos for dinner. She stayed until a little after 8 and then was ready to go home.

This morning Ty has a doctor appointment and Jag needs to start organizing stuff. We need to get Dixie in for her cardio evaluation too. Her appointment is the 16th but we don’t really want to wait another week if we can help it.

We didn’t watch much of the Olympics, just didn’t really care. Too much politics these days. I remember when the great thing about the Olympics was there were no politics involved. Countries and people got together to compete and be as one. That was part of what made it so great. They say viewer ship was down over 50% due to the “wokeness” (I hate that word) of some of the athletes which were primarily American. To be fair we did have a bunch of athletes, the majority, who were proud to represent our Country and proud to be there. Too bad they were overshadowed by the few losers the media chose to focus on. Represent your Country with pride or don’t go.

Lots to do this week, time to go. Stay safe, be well and God Bless.

Veggies

I’m craving vegetables today. Think we’re throwing a pork roast in the crock pot this morning but I’m going to get some veggies going too. Yesterday we made it to Frisco at noon for lunch with Lexi and her parents. This just might turn out alright. She’s a good girl and her parents are great. Jim is my age and Diane is super nice and funny. Before we went I dropped Lori at Dixie’s while I filled the car with gas and went to the post office. She was doing well yesterday. Last night we did bring her up for dinner and she was totally fine. She said again she loves her place and wants to give it a good go, hmm. Good news. After dinner and after some blueberry pie, she seemed a little lost. I think it was the combination of her being tired and maybe the sugar. Lori took her home a little after 8 pm as she was ready to go.

Lots of smoke in the State. More in Denver than up here but still hazy up here. Tommy called and said you could cut it with a knife in Denver. It’s coming from California. More crap from California we don’t want!

Off to the gym today. Big week as Jag moves in on Friday. We’re meeting Lexi and her parents at American Furniture Warehouse in Westminster at 9:45 am next Friday to grab the last few pieces of furniture the kids will need. They rented a large U Haul and have most of the stuff to fill up the apartment. We do need to get him his bed. Ty is doing well. He’s been going out with his friends a bunch. Walt the plumber came and fixed the compressor on one of the water heaters. He needed to hook a bicycle pump up to it and pump the excess water out. It acts as an overfill tank.

Lori is slowly getting back to normal. She’s still overwhelmed worrying about Dixie and has to get out to California to get things taken care of at the house. It’s clear now that Dixie is not going back.

That’s it, enjoy the day, God Bless.

On the go

What a day, busy busy. After the gym we stopped to see Dixie who was doing fine. We sat with her while she had breakfast which she ordered and had delivered. She says she loves her place! Lori went back later in the day to bring her some medication and other things. All was good until we were driving to dinner when Lori called her as Lori brought her new phones with large numbers. Dixie snapped at her saying “I came all this way to see you and I haven’t seen you”. Lori tried to explain that she had been living with us the past 19 days and that Lori was with her 9 days before that but Dixie wasn’t buying it and eventually hung up on Lori! We were told there would be an adjustment period that could last up to a month. Dixie, in her mind, was just upset that Lori didn’t come visit her even though Lori had just left 45 minutes earlier. She also thinks she’s in Fresno California although that changes multiple times each day. Tough situation.

We made it to Elway’s in Vail to meet Gerry and Marcie for dinner at 5:30. We then jumped in their car and headed over to the Ford Amphitheater for the Vail International Dance Festival. It runs 11 days and is run by a former top New York Ballet dancer who is now the CEO of Julliard. The best in the World are picked to come here for 11 days to dance and be part of the festival. I guess people and dancers from all over the World want to come here to see it. Of course we were in the sixth row and everyone knew Gerry and Marcie. We enjoyed most of it and were glad we went but it’s not the sort of thing we’d pay hundreds of dollars on our own to go see, if we could even get tickets. Good experience though.

Today at 11 we’re headed to Frisco to meet Jagger’s roommate Lexi and her parents for lunch. Should be back by 2 as Lexi works in Denver at 3:30. We have a lot to do to move him in next Friday. Ty will hang out here at home with the dogs.

We need to go see Dix and probably take her to dinner tonight. We’ve been told it’s best not to bring her back up to our house right now as it’ll just confuse her. Hope she settles in. Well keep going down daily and spending time with her but it’s clear that it’s a good thing that she made it here when she did. Being 90 is tough. Lori has been remarkable and unquestionably did the right thing in bringing her here when she did. It’s been as tough on Lori as Dixie, maybe even tougher. I think Lori is going down to see her for breakfast right now.

It’s smoky here from all the fires in California. Hasn’t been this bad in a month or so. We could use a good rain storm but I think it’s going to be dry for a bit. That’s it, time to get moving. Think we’ll skip the gym today. God Bless.

So far, so good

We rushed out the door this morning for the gym so I’m a little late. After the gym we stopped by Dixie’s new place to drop off her newspaper and make sure her first night was good. Happy to report even though she’s a little confused (no more than normal) she had a good first day and night.

Yesterday I was in Denver getting Lori’s car serviced while she, Jag and Katie moved Dixie and her stuff in. Lori did a lot! Not only yesterday but over the past month. Don’t underestimate the amount of work it takes to take care of an elderly parent. I had the car scheduled for Tuesday but Lori had me move it to yesterday and then Dixie’s move in day switched. Lucky me, poor Lori.

Biden’s a fucking idiot, there, I said it. Good God. Whenever he speaks on his own and doesn’t read a teleprompter, he is, as the tv said, Ron Burgundy at best. If you don’t know that was the character Will Ferrell played in a couple movies. Moving on, tonight we’re going to the Ford Amphitheater to the International Dance performance. Gerry and Marcy are taking us to dinner at Elway’s and then to the show. Should be incredible.

Tomorrow we’re going to Denver to meet Jagger’s roommate Lexi and her parents. We also need to buy another bed for his apartment. He moves in a week from today and a week from Monday Ty starts school, arrrggh.

Last night a bunch of us hung out at James’s as his birthday was the 3rd. We’re headed out hunting at the end of the month. His son who is going with us is bummed Ty is hurt but I’m trying to pull out a miracle and get him to be able to go. We have a doctor appointment this week so we’ll see.

Time to go. Hope all’s well. Stock up on staples. Been to a store lately? Lot’s of stuff out of stock. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, God Bless.
