Mojo!

Up all night, in and out, no sleep, ugh. Our fault letting him sleep with us, big mistake. I was in and out of Denver yesterday in good time. Back down tomorrow. Going to be hot the next few days, especially down on the front range. Ty is headed to Denver today and then will be up here tomorrow. We were invited to a concert tomorrow night with Marty and Melanie but are going to pass. It’s some country duo that’s sort of a B band. Jag worked yesterday and is off today. Hopefully his car is done soon. I have a call with an estate in Macedonia in 40 minutes so time to get moving. Stay safe, crazy out there, God Bless.

Fall?

Won’t be long, in about six weeks the kids are back in school. In 5 weeks Jag moves in to his apartment! In less than 4 weeks, training camp for the Broncos starts! Wow! Here we go.

Jag and Katy made it up around 4. He goes to work this morning around 10 and she’ll drop him off on her way back to Denver. I’m leaving in about an hour and Lori in two. Ty gets home Thursday. He’ll get back to Denver tomorrow but will spend the night and drive up the next morning so the drive isn’t so long.

It’s gorgeous outside as usual. James made it home from a long weekend in Atlanta and we’re finalizing our elk hunting trip today. We’re going with a former Denver Bronco that has a place in Utah. He’s taking his son and I’m taking Ty. Jag will be too busy as it’s the week before Labor Day.

It was a good weekend. Lots of social events, not much relaxing but we did make it to the gym three times. We found a new rug at 40% off in Frisco that I’ll pick up on my way back from Denver around noon today. It was raining yesterday on and off so we didn’t want to chance it getting wet. I need to be out the door in less than an hour so time to get moving. Be well, stay safe, lots of idiots out there and random crime is surging, God Bless.

Last minute

Last night we went to a cocktail party at one of the guys home from dinner the night before. A lot of the same people and a bunch of new ones. We were only there for an hour and a half or so which was just right. The boys are having fun. Amy sent a picture of all the kids on the boat. Not sure what the hand gesture means, ha. Jag and Katy are coming up today and I think Ty comes home on Thursday. Preston is then staying with us until Sunday. Hard to believe we’re in the second half of the year. It’ll go fast now, get ready. The news is already talking about kids going back to school.

I think we’re just hanging out today. We did a bunch of laundry yesterday and some cleaning too. Dogs are fine and driving us up a wall as usual. We will head out to the gym pretty soon. We need to figure out when Lori is going to get Dixie. Sometime in the next couple weeks. Time to go. Enjoy the day, especially if you have it off! God Bless.

Happy 4th!

Imagine July 4th 245 years ago, wow. What a celebration it must have been. Then again maybe it wasn’t a big celebration but rather a day of accomplishment and satisfaction for the peoples efforts. It still amazes me how hundreds of years ago the Founders of our Country had the foresight and ability to craft the Declaration of Independence that would stand the test of time and still be relevant today, even though some have tried to tear it down when they don’t get their way. That’s exactly why they did what they did and fought so hard for our independence. So we would stay a Country of free choice through the toughest times even though these days it doesn’t always seem that way. So Happy Independence Day!

Last night Lori and I headed to Gerry and Marcy’s around 6. There were 12 of us and it’s always a great mix. Gerry and Marcy’s doctor and his wife from Chicago were there, (Gerry and Marcy are his only patients as he’s their private physician, ha), a woman from the Dallas Symphony who is in town playing a concert with the symphony today at the Amphitheater, and a bunch of other fun people from the valley. Food was good but the night was really fun. Lori made her cheesecake which was the hit of the evening. We stayed until about 10. Earlier in the day we went to Vail and walked around and had Lori’s jewelry cleaned at the jewelry store and also stopped in to say hi to Luca and Jen at their store Luca Bruno which was super busy.

Today we’re headed to the gym and then just hanging out. Glad we have another day off after today. We need the time to recoup. Hope all’s well, stay safe and be thankful for the Country we all live in, it’s still the best Country on Earth! God Bless.

Don’t take it for granted!

Ok, the first part of today’s post is more about life and what’s really important rather than what we did yesterday. If you want to skip down to the bottom you can skip this part.

In the past few days we’ve run across a bunch of individual life stories that puts things in perspective. From the local pastor losing his daughter in a car accident on the way back from Lake Powell or George our neighbor who we found out last night is in remission from leukemia, and his wife who had seven stiches from a bicycle accident where she was lucky she didn’t get a brain injury to even Lori fighting her headache on a daily basis, buying the biggest house or fanciest car don’t really mean much. Sure we all need money to pay the daily bills, especially these days with gas around $4.50 a gallon (imagine if Trump was in office, the news would be all over him) and the rising cost of food, energy, and just about anything else you can think of. Fyi, our water bill this month was $655.65! But the big take away is how are you going to spend your day and live your life, today? George, our neighbor who had leukemia says he now wakes up thinking about how he can be kind today and how he can help people and make the World around him a better place. Imagine if everyone thought this way, what a better World we’d have, right? To his credit, being older, he stopped taking life for granted a long time ago, but still, something like leukemia has to be a shock to the system. So how about today instead of being a roadblock to someone’s troubles, let’s each of us go out of our way to help someone who doesn’t expect it. Open a door for a stranger, buy the person behind you a coffee, do something unexpected for your husband or wife, pick up some trash you see on the ground, anything to make the Universe a better place. Trust me, not only will it make the World around you better but you’ll feel so good inside. Life is too fucking short as it is, make a difference for someone and for yourself.

Now to the day. Lori went and had a massage and then had a doctor appointment for her concussion from on the airplane about 18 months ago when a passenger dropped a suitcase on her head and knocked her out. We might need an attorney as they have been unresponsive. After that we headed up to George and Kasia’s house (our neighbors) for her party outside. There were maybe 30 neighbors, a lot we didn’t really know. So it was a good get together where we all got to know each other a bit more. We stayed until around 9 when the mosquito’s became more active. Jag and Katy came up at the end and then I gave them a credit card to run down the hill for some dinner. Earlier in the day we went to the gym and then bought Lori some flowers for the house. She loves her flowers and so do I.

Tonight we have a dinner party with 12 people at Gerry and Marcy’s house in Lake Creek. I think tomorrow we’ll just hang out. We were thinking of going to Aspen for a party but I think we’ll hang. Monday we’re all off which is nice. Lori is making her Basque cheesecake to take tonight so I need to run to the store to get the stuff. I think Ty is going elk hunting with James, his son Castor and I, the week before Labor Day weekend. We’re going to Utah this year.

That’s it, time to get moving. Enjoy the weekend and surprise someone with an unexpected gesture of kindness! God Bless.

Holiday weekend

Here we go, a four day weekend. That of course includes today which isn’t really a holiday but everyone will be knocking off early if they’re working at all. 75 degrees up here, nice. Lots of rain down in Denver but just a little up here.

Ty made it to Nebraska just fine. One of the local Pastor’s up here lost his daughter who is Jag’s age in a car accident the day before yesterday. They were coming back from Lake Powell and somehow were involved in an accident. We don’t know the details but she was going into her second year at Baylor. How sad. Lots of people know the family. Just goes to show you how life can change in an instant.

Jag’s car is still in the shop. Katy made it up yesterday afternoon and is here for the weekend. She was helping Jag clean his room. No fun for her. We’re headed to the gym and then later today Lori is getting a massage and then has a doctor appointment for her head.

Tonight one of our neighbors is having a get together and tomorrow we have a dinner party and then we might go to a party in Aspen for the parade on the 4th. That is it. Happy Independence Day! Savor your freedom. Don’t let the politician’s take anymore of it away! Stand up and speak up for your rights! God Bless.

Off to Nebraska

Looks like Ty is going to Nebraska after all. Today we’re driving him down to Denver as Lori is getting her hair done. I’ll run a couple errands while she’s doing that. Jag’s car is not back for a few more days, tomorrow night at the earliest. We now need two new wheels at $495 a pop and brakes. Never stops. Ty and I saw Tommy yesterday. He’s doing well and his truck is still super cool! We both had haircuts yesterday and were back by 2 or so.

Need to get moving, lots to do, be well, GB.

Road trip

This morning Ty and I are off to Denver. Hope to be back by 3. Lori is in Frisco and Jag will be here with the dogs as his car is not yet fixed. Last night we had a Zoom call with Jag’s new roommate Lexi and her parents. Super nice girl who went to Mullen High School in Denver. Parents are nice too. They’re renting a two bedroom apartment for the year. Or should I say her parents and us are renting a two bedroom apartment for the year. Different times these days as back in my day and boy and girl would have never roomed together. Lexi seems super sweet and sort of quiet. We as parents raised issues we think needed to be discussed from how is food shared to party’s at the house to dating and anything else we could think of. Hope it works out.

Ty and I are getting haircuts today. He decided to stay home this week rather than go back to Preston’s parents lake house in Nebraska. We’re happy he’s going to be hanging out with us. 6:04 am now so I should get going. Oh, Ben our tile guy will be fixing all the tiles by the end of August. That’s how far out they are booked. I’d better get moving, be well and God Bless.

Change of plans

We didn’t go to Denver after all. Too much to do up here. Jag worked and so did Lori and I. Ty went to the skate park in the afternoon. Nice weather. Jag’s car is done today, late this afternoon. We have Ben the tile guy showing up at 8:30 this morning to make a plan on fixing all the tile in the house that needs repair. No food today as I ate way too much yesterday and the day before. Lori is making us latte’s and we need to get moving. We’re both pretty tired. Dr. B said the other day that people build up a sleep debt and your body absolutely needs to catch up. He did a big study for NASA on sleep trying to figure out if astronauts could actually skip or go without sleep. The short answer is no way.

Time to go. Here’s Harley in her new vest! She’s pretty tough and looks like a military dog, which she basically is. Nobody wants to mess with her, ha. She can literally jump over a six foot fence among other things. Both dogs had a lot of play time yesterday. You think they’d be tired but no, they just keep on going. Be well, GB.

Fun

We had a busy but fun day. 5 pm came quick and Molly and Dr. Braxton showed up right on time. Dinner was great and we hung out and talked business and life until about 9. The boys were helpful and good company as always. Jag works today and Lori and I will drop him off on our way to Denver. First up at 8 I need to be at the tire shop to see about his car. Weather is nice and it’ll be in the mid 70’s all week. We had another mud slide in the canyon on I-70 that shut things down. It’s 5:37 am now and I have a bunch to do in the next three days to close the month. Like I said yesterday, hard to believe the year is half way over. Time for coffee, God Bless.
