The Big Loop

Off at 6 am, headed to the windshield place in Denver to get a new one for the Mercedes. Next it’s up to Frederick and then to Boulder before back to Lakewood and then up the hill. Tonight there’s a delayed graduation party for Jag and some friends at 6:30. I’m going to James’s house first and then will stop in. Ty’s in Nebraska at the lake and was jet skiing most of the day. Lori worked in Frisco and still has a headache, ugh. It’s a tough one this time around.

Work is going well with things continuing to get stronger every day. Crossing our fingers it continues. Hope to get back some pay from our cuts last year in a few weeks. It’s hot out, not so much up here but in most of the west temperatures have been over 100 degrees. I think the high in Phoenix today was 118! Are you kidding me? Going to be a long hot summer. Wasn’t that a song or a movie? Time to move, enjoy life, get busy, be kind and God Bless.

Finally home

Lori’s plane landed around 2:30 and I picked her up about 3. Next up was the drive home. What should have taken a couple hours turned into a bit over 3. Traffic was horrible. First there was construction in Denver and then an earlier motorhome and semi fire on I-70 by Genesee had traffic moving at a crawl. After that, for some reason, there were a ton of trucks on the highway slowing us down all the way to Vail. Finally we made it home a little after 6 pm.

I dropped Ty about 11:20 and then went to Bed Bath and Beyond and grabbed the last canister vacuum they had. I had to call about 4 stores to find it on Colorado Blvd. Told you things were tough to find! I picked up some other supplies and then stopped at Whole Foods and Marcyzk’s for some food. Finally I was off to get Lori after gassing up the truck.

Jag worked until 4 and was home before us. We grilled up some salmon and asparagus before watching the last half of the movie Money Ball. I was off to Denver today but will wait until Friday. Too much driving. The house is pretty clean, I did a great job, ha! Dixie is not feeling too well as she had a doctor appointment that took a few hours and sitting in a doctors office for a couple hours can wear anyone out. Hope she feels better soon.

Time to move. Katie came up last night and will hang out with Jagger until tomorrow. Jag is off I think until Friday. He had his first showing yesterday, big time! God Bless.

Coming home!

It’s been five long days but Lori is finally coming home. Looks like Dixie won’t be coming back today but probably in 3 or 4 weeks. She still needs to get a few things in order. I’ll pick her up around 2:30 this afternoon so we’ll be home by dinner. Ty is headed to Nebraska with Preston where his family bought a couple houses on Johnson Lake. They have a fabulous water skiing boat too. He’ll be back Sunday. Jag is working today and the dogs will guard the house.

It’s been hot up here with temperatures in the 90’s but no where near as hot as in Denver. I was down there early in the morning and it’s near 100 with more today. Jag met me at the dealer and we dropped off the Suburban and were home around 11am. On the way back around Frisco he had a warning light come on in the Audi. It said we were losing air pressure in the left rear tire. We stopped to check it out and sure enough we found a screw in the tire. We put air in and made it to Costco in Gypsum where we dropped it off for repair. Again, the best $10.99 you can spend anywhere! I did go see Tom’s new truck, awesome! If I have time I’ll swing by today as he said I could take it for a spin. I do need to drop Ty, run a bunch of errands and manage to get to the airport by 2:30. If not today, in the next few days for sure. It’s huge!

Estimated taxes are due today, ugh. Don’t get me started. I managed to get the house cleaned up pretty well. I do need to make a trip to the dump tomorrow as I have a bunch of stuff out front to go. There are food shortages everywhere. Anyone notice how certain things you’re used to buying are not available? On top of that if you do find what you want, prices have gone way up and the size of the package has shrunk. Thanks Joe. This guy is on an apology tour. We don’t want every Country in Europe super happy with us. That means they’re all getting everything they want from us. Say what you will about Trump, and the media still is as they blame him for everything, but he did make other countries pay their fair share. Why are we suppose to pay for all the aid any country in the World needs and be the policemen of the World? I prefer a President who doesn’t give everyone everything they want, think about it! A member of the Polish government yesterday said this guy is making multiple mistakes left and right. No surprise. God help us.

That’s it, wear sunscreen. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Bam

I did it! I managed to get the garage clean. Took about 3 1/2 hours but it was long overdue. Hard to believe we’ve only been here about 11 months with all the crap we accumulated. To top it off I swung over to Ace Hardware and bought some brackets and wood to put up a shelf for our router. So all in all a good day. I cleaned up the mud room and a few other areas in the house too. Throw in six loads of laundry and it was a busy day.

Ty went mountain biking with Will and I picked him up at 7 in Edwards. Mojo is driving me up a wall. He crapped again on the living room rug. Not sure what to do with him. In, out, in, out, that’s his routine.

I’m off to Denver in a few to drop the Suburban which we’re selling back to the dealer and meet Jag who will drive me back up the hill. I think we’ll stop by Tommy’s to see his new truck. I do have a conference call at 9. Ty is staying home with the dogs. Lori is doing fine except she still has her headache. Feel bad for her but at least we know she’s not allergic to sage, or worse, me! Taxes tomorrow, they suck. No other way to describe them.

Time to go, make it a great week, God Bless.

Another project

Ty had a great game and won all his face off’s and his team won the game. I picked him up around 4. His arms and legs were pretty sunburned. Meanwhile Jag went to Denver to see Katie and will be back up tomorrow. Early tomorrow morning we’re driving the suburban down to the dealer as they made us an offer to buy it that was too good to pass up. They’re giving us about $5000 more than we paid for it and it has 20,000 miles on it. And again, Sleepy Joe says there’s no inflation! With the truck and the Mercedes we’re ok and don’t need to rush out and get another vehicle right away.

I cleaned out the pantry yesterday and am starting on the garage as soon as I’m done here. Ty has about 90% of his room done and after I finish the garage it’s on to my closet. I washed both down comforters yesterday and they took forever to dry. Mojo pooped on the living room rug and it’s going to be a problem. We have a shag rug and I’m not sure how to get it all out as he laid on it and squished it in. I think I’ll let it fully dry before trying to get the rest out. Nice smell though, ick.

Lori and Dixie are deciding what and when to do this week. Dixie needs doctor clearance before she can fly so that’s on the agenda tomorrow. Good she went out there to get some things figured out. My Mom use to say, “it’s hell getting old” and of course again, she was right. Lesson here, listen to your parents, ha! God Bless.

Steamboat

This morning I need to get Ty to school by 7:15 for the bus to go to Steamboat for soccer. Yesterday we sort of overslept as my phone has been losing time on the clock weird. Jag had a great first day of work doing all kinds of things. He has an office and a desk at the main office in Edwards too! But the news of the day is Tom got a new truck! We’d been going back and forth on text for a couple days and he finally pulled the trigger. He bought the incredible Dodge Ram TRX with 702 horsepower! Super cool and we’re really happy for him as he always wanted a truck and he’ll have a blast.

In the afternoon I went to meet Eric, John and Lori. We walked around the GoPro games before going to La Bottega for some apps where we met up with Andrew and Amanda. Eric, John and Lori want to go to Italy in the Fall so I’m helping set them up. While talking with them, Eric told me they’re taking his dads plane which is huge and goes non-stop so we might go with them. It’s a huge plane and flying private is the way to go if you go. Think it’s a 787.

Lori had a busy day with her Mom and I guess Dixie is ready to give it a go back here. We’ll have a lot to do to get her here and although she’d come back in a couple days with Lori, there’s some stuff that needs to get done first like getting oxygen to the house, getting her doctor’s clearance and finding a flight! It’ll be good to have her here with the boys. We’ll probably need to go back in a week and get her.

I need to get Ty moving. He’s up but hasn’t come down for breakfast yet. Nice and sunny and warm up here but not overwhelming. Hope everyone is well. I sent Serena a surprise gift yesterday so she’ll get that sometime next week. One more thing, it was Ali that reminded me I missed the blog yesterday, thanks Al! That’s it, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Late!

I woke up at 5:30 am to get Ty to lacrosse practice by 6:30 and then the morning just got away from me. Tommy just emailed to remind me. Jag’s off this morning (left at 9) for his first day of his new real estate gig. He’s working for the top relator at Liv Sotheby’s and is at the most expensive listing in Colorado which is a 32,000 square foot house that’s selling for $78 million dollars! Not sure what he’s doing, I think giving tours, but what a way to start his new career. He’s also studying to take his test and get his brokers license. Ty, I think, went back to sleep. He has a bad cold but really wants to play tomorrow at the game in Steamboat so he went to practice. Remember, he’s been out for weeks due to his broken ankle and was just cleared to play.

Meanwhile Lori is with Dixie and they’re having some sort of evaluation with the nurse from the retirement home a couple miles from us so she can come out for a month. They have a busy 4 or 5 days to get some things done like doctor appointments and more.

Tom hopefully is on the way to the dealer to get himself a new truck! He and I have been texting and he found a cool one that he’d love driving so I told him to get off the couch and go buy that thing! With inflation, although Sleepy Joe says there isn’t any, the dealer is giving Tom about $10K more for his current ride than he paid for it! Wow! Hope he follows through as he deserves it and it’ll be a blast.

We have the GoPro games up here this weekend and I’m having sushi with a couple of friends in Vail at 5. James and I hung out last night as he just got back from Cali the day before. A month or so ago he told me to go use his house in Maui for however long we want so we can get out of town and have a vacation. I’ve been looking for a few weeks for a rental car as there are none available but last night when he asked when we were going, I told him I can’t find a car, and he said “shit, I have a few, just use my F350 truck”! He said he’ll just have his caretaker put it in the parking lot at the airport and text me a picture of where it is. Super nice of him. So all we need to do is get our flights and we have about $4000 of unused tickets from covid so we can go for pretty much free and go First Class. So I’ll start looking at tickets and we’ll probably head over for a week or 10 days at the end of the month. It’ll be a great family break and best of all, pretty much free!

That’s it, I need to go and call Tommy and see if he’s on the way to get his truck! Take care and God Bless.

Off to California

Here we go, out the door in 90 minutes for the airport. Lots of decisions and stuff for Lori to do in California. I should be back mid-afternoon. Looks like 100 degrees in Denver today, 80 or so up here. It’s awful early for all the hot days. Luckily it’s 10 to 15 degrees cooler up here.

Camping was fun for the kids. Ty went to lacrosse and had his buddies over for one last night. Jag and I went and picked up sushi from Matsu last night. I’ll need to get some groceries today with Lori gone for five days. Time to get moving, enjoy, God Bless.

Still camping

Yesterday morning Jag and Katie showed up as the tent we borrowed didn’t have tent stakes! Jag said he used rocks to sort of make it work. They made it through the night, had a fire and hung out and had a blast. I ran up to Edwards and rented a tent from Alpine Quest for last night. They’ll be back sometime today. Meanwhile Ty and Jack spent the night at Sonny’s. It was Jack’s birthday and today is Sonny’s but the party is over. No more back and forth sleepovers. Ty went to the lacrosse game last night and the team plays against his old school tonight so he’ll be going to support his team there too.

I went to my buddy Eric Shirley’s yesterday. He’s a big car guy with dozens of cool cars he races all over the World. His dad was the Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft way back when it started so Eric has some disposable income to say the least. His dad’s vintage car collection is one of the best in the World. We’ve known Eric for about 20 years and he’s a real good guy. He, a friend of his who I know too named John and I are going to sushi Friday. The GoPro games are up here this weekend too. Eric managed to get an outside table at Matsu.

Lori is working in Vail today. I got a call yesterday telling me they ordered the wrong windshield so no drive to Denver today. Should be in in about 2 weeks. Lori is off tomorrow, she’ll be gone five days! We’ll miss her a bunch. Dixie needs some help so it’s good she’s going. She’s had a rough couple of weeks.

Time to get moving. Av’s lost in overtime, ugh. Nugget’s tonight. Hope they can steal one on the road. Beautiful up here, really pretty. Make it a great day, God Bless.

Sunny and warm

It’s warm and nice outside. Going to be that way all week. Yesterday morning I loaded the truck and was off to the dump by 7:20. Amazing how much junk you can take for $6! Next up was my weekly conference call and then phone calls for most of the day. In the afternoon Jag and Katie decided to go camping up at Sylvan Lake. That meant I had to get all the stuff together for them to go. I did it though so Jag could go through the process of setting up a tent and camp and figuring everything out on his own. Good life lesson. They must have made it through the night as they aren’t back yet. Meanwhile Jack, Sonny and Ty hung out. Ty had a fever but I think it’s gone.

More garage work today. Nuggets lost, no big, only one game and we were right there until the 4th quarter. Think I’ll go to the gym. Lori is working in Edwards today. Not much else going on. In Denver tomorrow and then Lori is off to California Thursday. She’ll be gone five nights, ugh. That means I’ll have a lot of plant watering and dog duty. All done for the day, God Bless.
