Almost here

Today Lori works in Vail and I was thinking of going down to Boulder to see Jag and Ava but am still on the fence. We’ll see. We had a little rain yesterday but as the week goes on, our chances go down. It’s not quite as humid this morning as it was yesterday.

Yesterday, Ty drove down to Grand Junction to the farm, to pick up strawberries for work. I don’t think he’d ever been there and said it was a nice drive. They pay for his gas, and he still gets paid as if he’s working at the restaurant.

Summer’s almost here! I think this weekend it should kick in as they say the temps will be in the 80’s. Soon we’ll be praying for rain. Our allergies seem to be picking up as things continue to bloom. I don’t remember ever having allergies when I was younger.

I’d like to get some cleaning done downstairs today and, in the garage, if I have time. Probably won’t, but I need to get down there sometime.

Moose attacks are up! Three in the last ten days. They’re very protective of their young and now is the time moms are walking around with calves. They will charge you! Bet that sounds funny if you live in California, right Annette?

That’s it, time to get moving, almost 6am. Have a great day and God Bless.

Nice and humid

It’s kind of foggy outside. We didn’t have any heavy rain, but rather a nice slow, easy stream of rain that was great for the trees and plants. It’s really nice and humid right now. Not cold either.

Lori is working in Edwards today. I’ll be working around the house. Davy came by yesterday with a giant beef tenderloin as a restaurant that rented space from his family, in a building they own in Vail, didn’t want to pay the going rate, so Davy didn’t renew their lease. In the kitchen, there was a bunch of meat in the freezer, so he grabbed it.

I’m back to my Omad lifestyle. Omad is “one meal a day”, if you remember. I love it. I just feel better. Plus, I save a lot on groceries! We made a reservation on June 14th at Makato, the restaurant we went to the other night. We’re going for Father’s Day with Jag and Ava, and Ty and Madi. It’ll be a fun night. We decided to go Saturday rather than Sunday. Sunday, we’ll go to the gym and then probably BBQ.

Well, the guy who attacked the people in Boulder, was an illegal Egyptian immigrant. No surprise there. He tried to buy a gun but couldn’t pass the background check. You don’t hear a lot about that though as it doesn’t fit the lefts narrative. The news say potential “lone wolf” attacks could be coming while the Director of Homeland Security said this, hmmm.

Border czar Tom Homan warned Monday that he’s “convinced” the US will suffer a major terrorist attack as a direct result of former President Joe Biden’s immigration and border policies.

“It’s coming,” Homan said of the possibility of a 9/11-style attack conducted by migrants who illegally snuck across the southern border under Biden.

Looks like my friends warning could be right. Let’s hope they find them before anyone else gets hurt. I’ll leave it at that.

Our good friend Peggy from Aspen called yesterday to see if we’re coming over for Aspen Food and Wine. She has the huge home in Belize we stayed at years ago. I used to drive her 1934 Rolls Royce and Ferrari all the time when we lived in Lakewood. Her ex-husband passed away in December and they’re having a big party July 12th. Bobby (her ex) was a musician and played with Jimmy Buffet, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and others. The Dirt Band is playing the party, and it’ll be really fun. Lots of musicians and fun people. Peggy’s family owned most of Aspen back in the day and we’ve always been super close. She’s known the boys since they were both under 10 years old. They’re of course invited too. It’ll be a great party as 700 people showed up for Bobby’s funeral service. Peg said we can stay at her house too, but we’ll either drive back or get a place.

The sun is up now, blanketing the hills and lighting up the neighborhood like a huge spotlight. Things are really getting green. It’s also Mom and Dad’s anniversary. I remember the day they were married as if it was yesterday. They were married and then flew down to The Broadmoor. Us kids were not invited, ha! Dad was a smart guy!

That’s it for today. Take care, be safe, (more shootings in Denver, what’s new) and God Bless.

Lone Wolf

Yesterday in Boulder, what appears to be one guy, attacked a group of older Jewish people protesting Hamas holding hostages in Gaza. That’s not a surprise, what is a surprise is that it happened in Boulder. No one thinks anything will ever happen to them. When stuff like this happens, it happens to somebody. The guy appears to be a lone wolf meaning someone who acted alone, but I wouldn’t be shocked to find out he was part of some group and that this was organized.

I normally don’t share things like what I’m about to tell you, but hear it is. Take it for what it is, secondhand information. My close friend of 10 years, who is Group 19 military, which is a modern special forces group similar to what used to be the Green Berets, who is still on active duty and is an officer, with 20 years in, called me about a month ago to warn us that they received an alert telling them to be on 24 hour standby for the remainder of the year. The alert is due to some 1500 bad actors in numerous cells, positioned nationwide, that came over the border in the Biden administration. They’ve been trying to track them down since the beginning of the year, but there are a lot of them, up to 1500. It’s said that they have been positioned and plan to attack the homeland (the U.S.) in 2025. Supposedly the attack in October 2023 was more of a dress rehearsal. This is an organized effort and if there is some sort of attack, it would be a simultaneous attack across the Country, meaning multiple events would happen nationwide at the same time. No one knows if this is true, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Now you can’t live your life in fear, but you can be aware of your surroundings and avoid potential unsecure areas that are vulnerable to attack. Remember, criminals always look for easy targets. These areas include gun free zones, large crowds like sporting events or concerts, especially protests or gatherings that oppose beliefs these people believe in, like yesterday, and crowded modes of transportation. Throw in shopping malls and movie theaters too. We’ll still all go to these places, just keep your head on a swivel and be aware. Most importantly, if you feel in your gut that something is not right, move fast. It’s a scientific fact that your gut feelings are always more right than wrong. So, there you have it, do with this info what you will. Ignore it or raise your level of awareness a bit. Bad things happen to good people all the time. Enough said.

The kids left yesterday afternoon and were halfway home when the stuff in Boulder happened. They were going to turn around but after the arrest, they decided to go on home but stay put in case there were additional attacks associated with the event. So sad that this crap goes on here, but things shifted 5 or 6 years ago when the Dems normalized violence after the George Floyd event. That was the tipping point where people started physically attacking people and destroying property with little to no consequences. Before that, you didn’t see this crap. The worst thing is all these people, especially young people, a lot who were indoctrinated in college, have been manipulated by people with a lot of money, who are basically using these people as pawns to get what they want. Most of this money and manipulation comes from countries overseas, but these kids are too stupid or ignorant to see what’s happening. Supporting Hamas, which is a terrorist group, and kills women and children all the time, no matter their cause, is not the right thing to do. Yet hundreds of people, mostly liberal college students, have been brainwashed to believe these people hold the moral high ground. This is what these foreign organizations want people to believe. They spend millions of dollars to get these people to believe this stuff. Countries like China and other enemies of the State, donate millions to our colleges and universities and specific teachers to preach their philosophy. They also donate millions to the Democratic party and politicians. You can always follow the money! I’ll stop now but hopefully you see what’s happening here, and it’s not good.

Ty’s off today as he worked all weekend. June 2nd already. Nice and green outside. Lori is working in Vail today. Nate, our neighbor, is lobbying Lori hard to come work for him at the Steadman Clinic where she used to work. Lori told him she needs a certain number guaranteed to even consider it. We’ll see where that goes.

6:19am now. We went to bed early last night as we haven’t been getting a lot of sleep. We picked up our hanging baskets for out front and they are beautiful. They’re huge and in bloom and look like they belong at a hotel. We order them every October and pick them up in June from the commercial nursery. Dr. B did surgery on the guy’s son-in-law, so we have that connection.

That’s it for the day. Take care, be well, stay safe and live each day, God Bless.

June

Last night the four of us went to the new sushi restaurant in the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The chef was on Iron Chef, which is a tv show, I guess. It was fantastic! It was literally the best we’ve ever had, and we’ve had a lot of sushi. It made Matsu look like a B rated restaurant. For sure it’s our new go to restaurant in Vail.

Nice weather up here. I’d like to drive Jagger’s Audi down to Glenwood today and park it there for the service department to get to when they get in tomorrow. A transmission light is on, but it says, “ok to drive”. The girl at service told me she recommends we don’t drive it, but I did take it to Frisco to get the windshield replaced. Not excited about spending a couple hundred getting it towed. We’ll see.

Kids are sleeping. They’re starting to look for an apartment or house to rent as they need to be in by mid-July when Ava starts her job. Jag should be working by then too. Their trip was even better than we thought. They told us stories last night at dinner and showed us more pictures. So glad they experienced it.

Ty is off today, and I think coming over. Not sure when the kids are heading back to Boulder.

June is here. Busy month with a couple concerts and Aspen Food and Wine. We also want to fly up to Whitefish Montana for 3 days and check it out. We were going to take the kids, but they have too much going on with moving out of their apartments and finding a new one.

That’s it for today. Embrace the day and God Bless.

Kids home

Yesterday afternoon, a couple hours after I made it home, Ava and Jag made it home. So great to see them and have them here. A couple hours after that, Ty made it home from work. We all hung out and had a nice dinner together, eating outside. Jag was really tired as I don’t think he slept the night before, trying to readjust to this time zone. They went to bed early, around 8. Ty works at noon today as he has a party he’s working tonight.

Lori and I are headed to the gym and then if the kids want, we might go over to Aspen for something to do. No pressure either way. Sunny and nice up here with temps in the 80’s today.

Lori’s car is all fixed up and good to go. Man, that car drives nice. Porsches have to be one of the nicest, if not the best, driving cars there are, and I’ve had them all.

Time to put out the trash out as our pickup was delayed a day with Memorial Day last week. Have a great Saturday and God Bless.

Good to go

I dropped Lori’s car and was out of there in my loaner car by 8:30. This put me home around 10:30 in the morning. I’m off at 7 this morning to go swap cars and will be back before noon. It’s a long way to go, but when you have a Porsche, you have Porsche guys work on it. I learned when dropping it off, that our $2400 service was no charge! Apparently, we bought the maintenance package when we bought the car, good move. Lori had a chip in her windshield and Geoff, our service advisor, even had that fixed. So, her 25,000 service is done, winter tires swapped for summer tires and windshield all fixed. We also had her new right rear wheel put on from her last little fender bender that scratched her wheel. I picked it up in Glenwood on Wednesday.

The kids will be up this afternoon. I’ll beat them back up here, I’m sure. they sleep in, as they’re kids, even though they’re 23 years old.

Ty is coming for dinner tonight as he’s working a party tomorrow night. I’d like to get some more of the garage cleaned out today. Warm weekend coming up, 80’s up here.

That’s it, last Friday of May! Bring on June! God Bless.

Quick trip

I’m out of here at 6am to drop Lori’s car. Hope to be back by 11 at the latest, 10:30 would be better.

5:15am now. I set my alarm for 5pm by mistake but thankfully woke up. Lori is home today. We have Orkin and the cleaners both coming.

Jag and Ava are coming up tomorrow. Ty works a party Saturday night, so we’ll all get together tomorrow night. The kids are still getting settled from their trip. Yesterday was spent doing laundry. I think they’re almost over their jet lag.

Time for me to get moving so that’s it for today. Have a great last Thursday of May 2025. June starts Sunday! God Bless.

Frisco

Yup, today is Frisco for Lori. That makes for a long day. She usually gets home around 7 on these days. I’ll be in Denver this morning and home by 1 at the latest. Looks like patchy storms this afternoon down there. It will be in the 80’s by the weekend.

Yesterday morning I jammed, or broke, my toe. I stood up and hit a chair. It’s the second one in from your little toe on my right foot. Stupid, but that’s what I get for being in a hurry. Not a big deal but man did it hurt last night.

We’re replacing some spruce trees in the yard that apparently are not native to the area. I asked Craig why he put them in then, and he said that’s what the DRB, (design review board) mandated. Think I’ll have them pay for them.

Denver just put in Narcan vending machines. Not sure how to feel about that. It will stop you from overdosing, but if you’re overdosing, how do you get to a police station and buy some Narcan from a vending machine before you die? Seems like this induces people to maybe try drugs, they might not have, knowing if they go too far, they can take Narcan to save themselves. How about just prosecuting drug dealers and stop letting them out of jail with no consequences. There’s a thought! We need to stop accepting and normalizing drug use. Not sure if the politicians know, but drugs aren’t really good for you.

A little cloudy outside this morning, but no rain. Still loving my truck! I should have taken the topper off a long time ago or never bought it in the first place. Luckily Craig, my landscaper wanted it.

Time to get moving so I can get in the shower before Lori. Have a great Wednesday, God Bless.

back at it

Here we go, back to work. I’m off around 7 this morning for Glenwood to pick up Lori’s Porsche wheel from when her car was repaired months ago. With me going to Denver Thursday to have Lori’s car serviced, I’ll have them put on her new wheel and take off the scratched one. We’re switching her winter tires out for her summer tires so now is the time to do it.

I think the kids are coming up maybe Friday. It’s going to be around 80 this weekend. Can’t wait to see them and hear all about their trip. They were a little jet lagged yesterday.

Ty is working today and the rest of the week. It’ll start getting busy up here soon as summer is here with the kids out of school and Memorial Day being yesterday. Ty and Lori finished Ty’s room yesterday. It hasn’t been this clean since we moved in four years ago.

We had some good rain on and off yesterday which is good for the trees. Nothing like what they had in Denver over the weekend. Looks foggy in Denver right now and they’re in a ground stop at the airport.

The Governor is at it again, signing a new bill to supposedly protect immigrants. You would have never thought a Colorado Governor would sign more bills protecting immigrants, many illegal, instead of citizens of the State. Our Governor is the worst Governor in the history of the State, and it’s not even close. He’s up there for worst Governor in the Country with those in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maine and Washington State. These clowns are almost making Newsom in California look middle of the road, which is what he wants, so he can run for President. History will not be kind to these people. It’s mindboggling and flat out disgusting.

Enough said. Almost 6am now so time to get moving. Have a great day, be well, stay safe, (7 more shootings in Denver over the weekend) and God Bless.

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day. We all know what the day is all about. When I was a kid, it seems that every male relative I had served. All my uncles, grandpa, dad, and just about any other man you knew. Nowadays, it seems the opposite is true. It seems more guys my age, didn’t serve. I think the baby boomer generation, those of us who just missed out getting drafted, didn’t join up. It wasn’t that we didn’t want to, it was just a shift in time when college was the thing to do rather than join the military. I have great admiration for those that did serve. Not an easy decision and to those that served in combat, well, that’s a whole other level of commitment. So, thank a veteran today and be proud of your Country.

Yesterday we, (mostly Lori) started on Ty’s room. Around 3, we decided to run down the street to our local theater and see the new Mission Impossible movie. It was good, as they all are.

We had a little rain yesterday but not much. It’s blue sky and sunny outside right now. The kids made it home safely from their epic trip. Their plane was delayed an hour out of LA, but all good. I think they’ll come up later this week. We need to get Jagger’s graduation announcements sent out. They’re going to need all the cash they can get, ha.

I’m in the retirement mindset these days. Every decision I make, is geared towards that. That’s a shift for me as up until a few months or so ago, I never really considered retiring. To be fair, I’ll always have some side hustle going on, so retirement for us really means having Lori stop working. It’s like a new chapter in our lives, which is exciting and fun. Life is full of new chapters, graduating from high school or college, having kids, getting a new job, moving to a new place, whatever. Retiring is just another in a long list of new things in your life. Exciting.

Time to get moving. Have a great day and get ready for the last week of May. In about 90 days, it’ll be Labor Day and Fall will soon be here. Hard to believe. Then 90 days after that Christmas and the New Year and on and on. Time is precious, don’t waste it! God Bless.
