Sleeping in

I slept until 7:15 this morning as I must have needed it. I’m still a bit tired but slept well with the window open and the cool mountain air coming in. Lori still is not doing well with our new bed. Hopefully the pillow top they sent us arrives soon and hopefully that works otherwise it’s back to the drawing board.

We made it to Marty and Mel’s around 7 for dinner. Jag helped cook and bbq which he always does as he enjoys it. Monday Ty leaves for Lake Powell for 6 days with friends and their parents.

The dogs love it here but are struggling as they’re still not sure where they are. Harley jumped up and scratched the door from the garage to the house. Luckily we have painters coming Monday to basically repaint any and everywhere there’s a mark or scratch.

After a bit it’s back to Minturn to keep cleaning. Everything inside is almost fixed. New lights, smoke alarms, doors, etc. We will need to paint three rooms and we’re putting in a new microwave and then we’re good to go. We’ll provide a $5K carpet allowance to whoever buys the place rather than put it in ourselves so the new owners can choose their color.

Our views are still magical. Hard to believe just what we see every morning when we wake up. We have tons of birds and chipmunks and bunny rabbits outside coming up the the three feeders we have out. Time for coffee. Be well, be safe and turn off the news, God Bless.

First night

Last night was my first night in our new home. It sure turned out nice. We can see ourselves being here for a long time. We’re still fixing things up and have lots of things to put away but it’s like living in a five star hotel at a resort in the mountains somewhere. Could be Arizona, Nevada, Northern California or Colorado.

I worked a ton yesterday in Minturn after my quick trip to Denver. Jag took the Audi down for us and then met me at the townhome to clean some more. Luz, Lori’s friend from her old office stopped by on her way home as she lives close. One of the nurses at Lori’s old job found out she has advanced breast cancer. She’ll have a double mastectomy pretty quick. Even though this is the girl who basically sabotaged Lori, Lori sent her a text wishing her well and offering to help in any way. We feel really bad for her as her husband had serious health issues a few years ago. We’re praying for her and are hoping for the best. So sad.

It’s raining this morning which is incredible. We took the dogs out for a walk and the smell of the sage and the fresh mountain rain was overwhelming. Lori had a call with the tv producers from Hell’s Kitchen and Big Brother last night as she and her new doc are doing a pilot for the Discovery Channel on spine surgery and will hopefully get picked up! How exciting is that?

My hand is still swollen. I probably have a fracture and will need to go in next week. If I need surgery I’ll have to wait for a while as I have too much to do.

I can’t get over our views from every room in the house. Both boys love it here and feel like they’re on vacation. More work today and my Cowboy Cauldron is supposed to arrive too! We’re going to bbq at Marty and Melanie’s tonight. Here are a few pictures of the view from our bed this morning.

I love my big rocks! No one can build near us the way the land flows. We have a big draw right behind the house so the closest anyone could build is across the gully.

It’s almost 7 and I need to get to the gym today for sure so time to go. At 9 we’re going to the stone yard to try to find just the right piece for our hearth and at 11:40 I have a Zoom call with the sales team from the distributor. Then it’s more cleaning, make it a great day and God Bless.

Down and up X two

This morning I’m off to Denver to the distributor and bank and a store and so is Jag as he’s taking Moms car to get the oil changed. I have Ty’s room empty and am continuing to move a bit more each day. I hope to paint by early next week. Mojo went to the vet and is at the new house tonight while Harley is here with me. Everyone else is down there. I’m the only one that hasn’t spent a night there yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Shit’s still crazy with the cancel culture movement and the virus. Here’s some Colorado numbers on the virus as an fyi,

Hopefully this makes some of you feel better. It should also make you mad as hell that the govt. and media has drilled into us all the sky is falling theme around this virus. Now I certainly don’t want to get it but I don’t want to get ebola either. These numbers are 100% true, check it out. It also says Colorado’s data grade is an A meaning the numbers are correct. If true, which it apparently is, you have to ask yourself why all the doom and gloom. Our Gov just shut down ALL bars at 10pm starting tonight. He’s trying to put people out of business, unbelievable.

Now to the non-stop political correctness or as they now call it, cancel culture. What does that even mean? I honestly cannot believe 99% of us are letting the unhinged 1% of criminals and thugs write the rules for the rest of us. Wake up already, enough is enough.

Crazy times, can’t believe what’s happened to America. Friends in Italy think we’ve gone nuts and are laughing at us. God help us, God Bless.

back in the game

Ugh, trash day, thankfully. I have a few pieces of furniture, my trash can and 11 large bags of trash to put out this morning. Yesterday a chipmunk ran into the new house and then into the garage. Lori and Jagger think he then ran out, hmm. There’s a lot of cardboard I need to break down today down there so I’ll find out soon if he’s still there.

Lori has a job! Vail Summit Orthopedics, Steadman’s main competition, with a number of top docs like Lindsey Vonn’s doctor and others, created a position just for her! Pretty exciting. The good news is she gets to work two days a week from home, wow. Things couldn’t have worked out better. She’s super excited. More to come next week after she starts. Good news is she passed the background check, ha.

Our new mattress arrived yesterday. Ty’s desk should arrive today and hopefully his bed frame soon too. I’m going to run to the gym before getting back to work. Again Lori and Jag spent the night in Eagle and Ty and I in Minturn. Make it a great day and God Bless.

TV!

Today we finally will get our tv’s hooked up. Or so they say. They’ve been out 2 or 3 times before but this should be the day. Lori and Jag are in Eagle again and Ty and I are in Minturn with the pups. Yesterday we had drywall repaired. Two spots in the basement and a bunch in the garage. Ty’s room still needs to be fixed as we ran out of mud. We’re slowly getting things cleaned out. Yesterday at 7 am I took the freezer down to the house and later in the morning the safe from our closet and some valuables. This morning I’m off to Denver for an 8am appointment and should be back up here a little after 10. No word on Lori’s hopefully new job yet although the surgeon reached out and asked if she heard from HR. I need to be on the road in about 20-25 minutes so time to go. Make it a great day, God Bless.

Here we go!

It’s a big week, for work for both of us, and in Minturn and for Eagle. I managed to get the entire garage cleaned out yesterday and today Ty’s room is set in my sights. I have a big week at work as I need to get in about $500K worth of orders and we should find out today if Lori has a new job. Keep your fingers crossed on both. Lori and Jag spent the night in Eagle and Ty and I stayed with the dogs in Minturn. I’d like to make a run down before my conference call at 9 but we’ll see. Today the freezer and a gun safe need to get moved. We have a punch list a mile long of things that need to be fixed. Most all are small cosmetic things. Tomorrow I hope to have Jag’s room cleaned out and then it’ll be downhill from there. My back is a little sore.

Ali asked for house pictures and most are on Lori’s phone but she can’t figure out how to save them and send as a text or email which is what I need to post. Here’s one though I took leaving Saturday night.

Can’t wait to have any of you come and visit but we need to get a few more things set up first. We are taking reservations!

Deaths are going down in multiple States thank God. Five separate shootings in Denver Saturday night. Defund the police right? Did you see the black woman in New York pour paint all over the Black Lives Matter mural saying Re-fund the Police and screaming BLM is a joke? In Eagle two idiotic kids painted BLM and drew an Antifa cross on the golf course shack down below our neighborhood. Thanks social media for that one. Lori called later in the day and said the police had two kids out there making them wash it off. When I drove by a few hours later there were about 10 people, adults and kids, repainting the shack.

I saw this yesterday, funny. Being serious though, I get the face mask thing. I don’t agree that it can be legally mandated but we wear them. The best thing would be limiting all the travel from State to State. Now across the Country people are wearing mesh face masks in protest which fulfill the requirement to wear one but don’t do much else. Oh well.

Have a great day, GB!

A couple of firsts

Last night we had our first dinner at the house and the house had it first overnight visitors, Jag and Ty. They decided to stay the night in their new rooms while Lori and I headed home to take care of the dogs. We have a bunch to do and need to be sure we’re not taking anything down we don’t absolutely need as we’re already running out of space in the garage. We also need to send over our punch list today so they can get working on it tomorrow. We put out a small bird feeder yesterday and we have a new resident chipmunk that is so small he or she could sit in the palm of your hand. The feeder is sort of a tray that hangs off a shepherds hook so it’s easy to jump up on. Two nights ago we had a big bear outside so we all (us and our neighbors) put our trash cans in our garages last night. I have him on video is anyone wants me to text them.

We’re going to take off early this morning with a load as we have a bunch to do today. I need to get the boys rooms and as much of the house cleaned out as fast as I can as my neighbor who is fixing a bunch of stuff leaves July 30th for a month.

That’s it, time to go, be well, be safe and God Bless.

A little at a time

Everyday I’m making one or two more trips to the house. Lori is unpacking, cleaning and then putting away what I bring down as it arrives. You can see spots around the house here starting to clear out. We have a lot more space, especially in the garage. There’s never enough storage anywhere including in our new home but that’s fine as it forces you to go through everything and purge. Purging should be mandatory every few years.

Jag has been a huge help. He found out his dorm is in Williams Village which is about 5 minutes from the main campus but our friend said the food is better and the rooms are larger. It’s also the newest dorm on campus. He will have a roommate and will find out who it is on August 3rd. He’s friends with new students from as far away as Dubai and Saudi Arabia as well as kids from Portland and the east coast. They all get on their phones and have been snap chatting or instant messaging for some time.

Mojo peed again, shit. Lori says we can get dog diapers as I told her he’s not going into the new house with an uncontrollable bladder. He can sleep outside in his new dog run and house. We’ll need to figure this out asap. We need to take him in Monday as he sometimes sits on the deck and whines. When we walk him now he’ll stop and lay down in the driveway or road and refuse to come in. He’s just old.

I’m going to head to Frisco soon. The Denver Broncos are offering refunds as it doesn’t look like if we get to go to games, that we’d be sitting next to each other. We opted for the refund as there’s too much uncertainty. We had fun at Marty and Mel’s last night. She was headed to Florida but came to her senses after I basically told her she can’t go, ha. We have more new cases up here, all from people who came here over the 4th. What our Gov should have done is not allowed people to travel here over the holiday. But that would have been too easy.

Today I hope to make three trips down to Eagle so I’d better get going. That’s three hours driving right there and as I said I’m off to Frisco first which is another hour. Hope you all are well, be safe, and speak out against the new cancel culture. 1% of America is trying to write new rules for 100% of us. Don’t let it happen! God Bless.

TGIF

Thankfully it’s Friday. Yesterday seemed like Friday though, and come to think of it, so did the day before, hmm. As I’ve said before, all the days seem to run together.

Lori had a good interview and it seems as though they want her. They’re just trying to make the numbers work. Hopefully we’ll know more today. My work call went well too. We made a few trips to the house and I picked up probably the last chest freezer in the State at Home Depot in Golden. It’s only 7 cubic feet but combined with my 20 cubic foot one I should have enough room for my side of beef and my elk. If not we’ll be having a huge bbq!

This morning we need to hit the gym. Then we need to get to Bed Bath and Beyond sometime this morning and make some more trips to the house. My little finger on my left hand seems to be broken. I was messing around with Jagger and smacked it. Hopefully it’s just a sprain and will heal on its own.

Looks like masks are mandatory for the next month here in Colorado. There are a few people filing law suits to challenge this. I usually wear a mask inside any place anyhow so no big deal to me but according to the law, we’re even supposed to wear a mask inside someone’s house unless we’re all family members. That’s not going to happen.

The house looks great. We’ll start tagging stuff with painters tape today for the punch list. That means things that need to be fixed or touched up. I’m also stocking up on nuts, bolts, screws, nails and other assorted things at Home Depot as they too are running short at the stores. That’s it, time to go, be well and Happy Friday! God Bless.

A job?

Yesterday right in the middle of training Harley upon her arriving home, Lori received a call from Vail Summit Orthopedics and today at 2 she has an in person interview with Dr. Braxton. His resume is far more impressive than Dr. C’s and we’re hoping for the best. Lori would damn near take the job for free just to bury her old practice, ha.

Earlier in the day Trent, my neighbor and Javier, one of the workers at the house, and I put up 2 sheets of 4X8 plywood and some tracks in the garage to hang bikes. This is a big deal as it’s a huge space saver and you can hang other things like shovels too.

Harley is doing really well. She’s no longer skittish around people, cars, dogs, or much of anything. We needed to be trained as much as her as it turns out we were reinforcing bad behavior.

Meanwhile Jag was on with CU getting more details figured out. Things are moving fast. I’m off to Denver for a quick turnaround and Lori’s interview is at 2. I have a call at 4 this afternoon for about 90 minutes for work. All else is good, more to come tomorrow, God Bless.
