Christopher Columbus?

This morning I’m off to Conifer and then Longmont and Lakewood before heading home. Lori ordered beds yesterday and I have a line on tv’s and handled the internet, phone and cable installation which will happen now on July 2nd. We have to get mattresses and today at 1 Lori has an appointment with a window blind company. The days of putting blinds or curtains on every window are gone though. We’ll do the bedrooms and master bath and that’s probably about it. New windows are UV treated and block a lot of the sun as it is.

Now to the well funded idiots. Looks like they now want to tear down a statue of Christopher Columbus. This is important as he’s made all of our lives so very difficult since we were all born and has been someone we’ve all hated our entire life, right? Oh wait, that’s a colonoscopy. Sorry I get Chris and colonoscopy’s confused sometimes. Give me a break. What everyone needs to realize is that these are not independent people who woke up one day and decided all these reminders of history are offensive. It’s super wealthy organizations led by powerful men that want to change our Country for their own purposes. They want to control us and these people and groups like Black Lives Matter have been hijacked by these guys and their money. How do you think all the Antifa people keep showing up in all these different cities? Who do you think is paying for these thugs airline tickets? They don’t even have jobs? Wake up, get ready and stand up for your rights and our Country.

Ty hung out with Warner yesterday and Jag hung out with Warner’s older brother Harmon and Zach and Ethan. The older boys all spent the night at Ethan’s. Today Ty has some work to do and Lori has a deposition with Dr. C. from 4 until 6. I think I have my weekly get together at James’s house at 5. It’s usually Wednesday but we changed it to Thursday this week.

Time to get moving so I can be on the road by 8. Be safe and God Bless.

2 Weeks

Yesterday we found out we can probably start moving in to the house beginning the week of July 6th. This seems hard to believe as there seems like a lot to do in the next 2 weeks but that’s what Tom our builder says. When Lori was getting her hair done, Phoebe, (Tom’s sister in law) told Lori about the 2 weeks as that’s what Tom said on Father’s Day. We have a lot to do on our end too. Blinds or shades for the house are a big one plus getting mattresses ordered along with beds and then next week tv’s get installed. I have to set up an internet account today and get going on the audio visual stuff too. We’re technically late but I’ll give it the old college try.

This morning I’m off to Aspen and need to be back by 2. Tomorrow it’s Denver for a few last minute things such as mirrors for a few bathrooms. I’m sure we’ll be fixing and setting things up through the end of July. I hope to get everything out of here pretty quick so we can start getting things fixed up and get this place on the market.

Ty spent the day with Warner who used to live here before their family moved back to D.C. about 3 years ago. Warner spent the night and Lori and I will hook up with his parents for a visit at 2:30 this afternoon. They’re good people and Harmon, Warner’s older brother, is a good friend of Jag’s too.

Ty is hopping around on crutches and in his boot. Jag helped clean up yesterday and today I think he and Lori are making ice cream in our new ice cream maker. They’re only like $200. You should all get one!

Time to get moving. In the spirit of trying to move forward I’m leaving all the virus and protest crap out today. Looks sunny out and the colors are vibrant. God Bless.

It’s broken

For those of you that have been keeping up with the posts, Ty’s ankle is broken. He has a fracture on the inside but doesn’t need surgery, thank God. He will be on crutches for a few days until he can put weight on it and then he’ll be in a boot. The whole healing process will take about 6 weeks total. He did have to have x-rays and an MRI. We’ll get a deal but it’ll still cost a few thousand dollars. Bad timing on this one.

Lori and I then went down to the house where things are moving fast. Lori and Craig, our landscaper, mapped out where the trees and sod is going. You have to put in a minimum number of deciduous trees and a certain number of bushes according to the ranch association. Craig was hiring Ty to work but now with his ankle that’s off for at least a month. Too bad. It’s sunny and nice up here with the obligatory afternoon cool down of rain. Nothing bad, just enough to cool things down.

We’re off to Denver today to get Lori’s hair done and I’ll go pick up some samples while she’s doing so. We should be home around 3 or 4.

Cases of Covid are holding steady here in Colorado. We’re not one of the States experiencing the so called second wave. I think we had somewhere around 130 new cases in the whole State which is not many when thousands are now being tested daily. Protestors in Denver now want to defund the entire police department. The only ones I can think of that’d endorse this would be criminals right? Again, I’m so sick of all this crap, give it a rest and get back to living your life. That’s the cure. Have a good day and God Bless.

Swollen

Thanks for all the Father’s Day wishes, it was a nice day. Around 3:30 we went to Marty’s and had a nice time until about 8. We left then as Ty had fallen off a skateboard and his ankle is all swollen and probably fractured. To top it off, my right knee is also swollen probably from hiking earlier in the day. I was hoping mine would have gone away during the night but it’s still here. We have to be in Frisco at 9 with Ty. I’ll just keep an eye on my knee.

After dinner Jag and Melanie made brownies and cookies for dessert. The steaks were incredible meaning Lori grilled them. She also made a great salad. I was headed to Denver this morning until Ty fell and will now just do everything tomorrow.

Time to go as we have a lot to do to get out of here in a little over an hour. Take care and God Bless.

Father’s Day 2020

Today we’re going to a bbq at Melanie and Marty’s. Should be fun. I told Marty to invite James so he’s coming too. We’ll bbq up some steaks. Yesterday we stopped at our local butcher and picked some up on the way home from the house.

Jag and Madi went to a birthday party and then out to dinner as they’ve been dating for six months. My new friend Prahba in Boulder is introducing Jag to a few guys that have start ups doing business with the DOD and that also started some biomed companies. Two neighbors are former engineering professors at CU and the University of Georgia. Funny how things work out as Prahba and I met through our mutual love for fine revolvers.

Ty, Lori and I had a good talk about life and his future and what he wants to do next year with all these changing things going on due to the virus. There’s still so much unknown out there such as will there be virtual learning or normal classes. Anyhow it’s good to discuss it with your kids as they too are confused and have feelings about what they want to do and about what’s going on but sometimes you have to pull it out of them.

We’re a little concerned more than normal about our Country. Yesterday in San Francisco they (thugs) tore down statues of Ulysses S Grant, the great Civil War General and Francis Scott Key who wrote the Star Spangled Banner. Yes these guys owned slaves but in the 1700’s and early 1800’s, everyone owned slaves! This is just not right. If you forget or worse yet, erase history, you will repeat it. The way things are going we’ll soon be renaming Washington D.C. If Biden happens to win and the Dems win the Senate and hold the House, things could get really nasty. If he doesn’t win, things will be nasty too. You didn’t see Republican’s tearing down statues or burning buildings when Obama won now did you. That right there should tell you who to vote for. Vote for the party, not the candidate. If Trump wins again, the protestors funded by people who want to destroy our Country will keep on trying to destroy our way of life. For over a month now the wait to purchase a gun is about 3 days. This means that at any given time there are about 5000 people waiting for a background check compared to what normally is 2 to 10 people in our State. This is going on across the entire country and it is not a bunch of thugs or criminals buying guns but regular working people like you and me that are scared. You think these millions of people are going to turn in their guns? I don’t think so. On top of this, things have changed and will never go 100% back to normal. Many companies are letting people work from home as they realized their getting the same work and not having to pay millions of dollars for office space. Many office buildings will remain empty as people continue to work from home. Then restaurants that sell lunch to workers will suffer with no lunch crowds of workers, then retail surrounding those buildings will fail and so on. Just look at malls. So this is not over economically. How about this, Eskimo Pies, the ice cream sandwiches we ate as kids are now having to change their name as it might be offensive to Eskimo’s. If I was an Eskimo, I’d be proud of them! Aunt Jemima, the syrup, is also now taboo and going away. What the fuck is going on, wake up people. I’ll stop now as I’m getting pissed off and it’s Father’s Day.

Oh, one more thing, we have a crook, John Hickenlooper who said he never would run for the Senate and who misused government funds (our money) when he was Governor to take lavish trips and got caught, now wanting to be our Senator. They’re all crooks but I know this guy personally from 10 years ago when he became Mayor. Don’t be fooled by the tv ads, this guy is just another guy who is out for himself. He just wrapped up a failed run for President six months ago. he wants any job where he doesn’t have to work.

We’re worried about what’s going to happen in 30 or 40 years for the boys. No one is considering the end game here. These protestors should be speaking to the thugs who are destroying things, not you and I that are respectful to everyone and have been living our lives just fine. I’m so sick of it.

Sorry, I got sucked back in. I think we’ll go to breakfast this morning if we can get in. Have a great day and God Bless and remember your dad, whether he’s still with you or not.

Yea, Lori’s home!

Last night at 5:30 Ty and I picked Lori up at the airport. In many ways it’s a new beginning for her. With Dr. C. officially retiring soon she can now start a new chapter in her life. There are a couple surgeons that she might be able to catch on with but I told her this is her chance to reinvent herself or start something new. Dixie suggested Lori go back to school to be a nurse, ha. She also suggested she become a farrier. Now for those of you that don’t know, a farrier is someone who shoes horses! I guess Dixie read an article about a woman who was a farrier. In any case, she’ll figure something out. I told her at least she now knows so she can move forward. Dr. C. still wants Lori to handle all the medical/legal which she will until she gets a new job.

Earlier in the day I had a haircut and then Ty and I ran up to Longmont, then to see Duey at Mondo Vino, then Lakewood, then to the mall, (that was weird) and then to the airport. Jag stayed home with the dogs.

Today after the gym we’ll probably clean up a bit around here before heading down to the house so Lori can see the progress. Below is a picture of our oven hood. You can also see the cabinets and Lori’s backsplash! The house sure is going to be nice.

It’s cool this morning but clear. Ty needs to clean his room today and then we need to get going on some other chores. I saw on the news 3 kids that car jacked 3 different cars last night in Denver and shot one person. It’s pretty dangerous in Denver these days. Again I’m not racist so I’ll just say they were not Caucasian. What a World, they looked 16 or so.

That’s it, time to wrap it up for the day. Be well and safe and God Bless.

Rain

Looks like rain in Denver. Ty, his friend Luca and I will leave around 8:15 this morning for Denver. We’ll drop Luca with his parents in Idaho Springs and then be on our way. Lori will land around 5:15 at DIA and we have a lot of things to do in town before she arrives.

Today is Juneteenth, a day when Union soldiers freed slaves in Texas that symbolized the end of slavery in the United States. Let’s get this straight, white people freeing black people yet some will be protesting white people today. To top all these protests off, did you know, the White American is the only force that has fought to the death to end slavery in the history of the World? Hmm.

Now for the virus, the news says things are spiking in some States but if you look closely, hospital admissions have remained flat. Another hmm.

Now back to the day. Ty and Sonny and Luca made it home around 9:30. They were up late when Jagger made it home, sometime after midnight. It’s 6am now and I have laundry going. I’ll wake the boys at 7:30. It looks like a nice Fall day outside. We can always use the rain so it’s welcome.

Aspen was nice. People going about their business. I was in and out of town fairly quick and will go back next week. Jag will stay home with the dogs today and we should be home around 7:30 or 8 tonight traffic permitting.

That is it for the day. Think I’ll finish my coffee and catch up on some emails since I woke up at 5:30. Father’s Day is Sunday. Lori asked me what I want to do and I said nothing. I’d rather do something that makes her happy. Hope everyone is doing well. God Bless.

Off to Aspen

Well it doesn’t look like Lori will be getting her old job back in its current form anyhow. I do think she’ll end up managing the new spine surgeon or maybe another new doctor but it doesn’t look like Dr. C. will bring her back in the next couple months. He’s probably now going to retire even sooner, like within the next 90 days or so which is why this is the case. I told Lori that’s ok, whatever happens, happens. She’s been working with the new doctor on a transition plan for when he arrives and of course he loves her. She’ll land on her feet as she always does. Good people always end up ok.

This morning I’m off to Aspen. Jag hung out with some friends last night and Ty and Luca were in town for most of the day. I went over to James’s house for our weekly hang. I’m starting to enjoy smoking cigars, ha. I should be back by 2. Tomorrow Lori gets home around 5:30. Then it’s the weekend, whoo hoo.

Time to get moving. Harley goes to board and train on June 30th. We’re super excited and so is she. Lori took her over to meet the trainer a few days ago and she had a blast. She’ll be gone a week or so depending on how long it takes but will come home a changed pup. We’ve been looking for years to find the right trainer and finally found a girl right in our own backyard that is great. More to come.

It’s cooler today, mid 70’s. Nice. Enjoy the day and God Bless.

Safe arrival

Lori made it to Sacramento safely and then stayed at Dixie’s since her arrival. Meanwhile Jag and I did a mini tour of the front range. We first headed to Boulder where we met Prabha, our new friend, and his wife. Then it was a stop at an account to pick up some champagne we traded for, some lunch and finally a drive through the campus where Jagger will soon be a freshman. Lots of girls still in Boulder for the summer. Jag is going to love it and both Dr. Rogers and Prabha and his wife told him what a smart decision it was.

Next up was a drive up to Conifer and then back to Lakewood before heading up the hill for home. On the way, the mom of a friend of Ty’s from camp called as the boys wanted a sleepover. Jag said he’d go get Luca as they were staying in Breck. He’s a nice kid and his family lives in China part of the year although they’ve been back here since before the virus hit. Jag then went to hang out with Lexi while I cleaned up a bit.

This morning I’m going to the gym before cleaning some more around here. In California Annette and Serena drove up to see Lori. Dixie was up on and off most of the night as Lori just called me as she couldn’t sleep. She has some things to get done with her mom over the next couple days.

Looks like Red Rocks might be reopening for concerts and events. Colorado seems to be continuing the trend of lower cases while some places in the Country are having a little spike. Again, herd immunity is the way to kick this which will take more people getting exposed.

It’s going to be in the mid 90’s in Denver today meaning the mid 80’s up here, perfect. Jag and I had a fun father son day as we don’t usually get 6 hours together alone with no distractions. He’s such a good kid, so is Ty. We’re really lucky. That’s it, now go tackle the day. God Bless.

Off to California

We’re headed to the airport this morning to drop Lori for her flight to Sacramento. Should be hot there! Up here it’s beautiful as usual.

Yesterday was a busy day doing some stuff, just not sure what, ha. We might be getting close to wrapping up Mom and Dad’s estate as I finally heard back from one of our Senator’s who I reached out to for help. We had a couple nice conversations and I think we’ll actually see some movement soon. After all it’s only been like four years. For what it’s worth, the Republican Senator is helping while no word from the Democrat.

Last night Jagger talked with Dr. Rogers who Lori used to work for. Chris is a good resource for him as she’s a brilliant person. She speaks six languages, studied at Harvard and the Sorbonne in Paris and was recruited to work for the CIA before she decided to become a plastic surgeon. She was extremely helpful in giving Jag some direction. He’s stressed out as he has such a strong drive to succeed. Today he’ll get some more advice as I said yesterday.

That’s it for today. Time to shower so we can get moving. Enjoy your day and God Bless.
