Snow and more snow

20151213_104736_resized20151213_105614_resizedWell down in the big city, the tv says all the schools are closed. Up here in the mountains, the schools are never closed! Just another day. We have about 6 inches or maybe a bit more but I’m sure we’re getting 10 to 12 up on the mountain. I was going to head down to Denver this morning but will postpone that until to tomorrow. Jag was home sick yesterday and might be home again today. It’s Tuesday so that means clinic at Lori’s office. She came home yesterday and told me she had a patient who is a special education teacher at an elementary school who didn’t spell “elementary” right! Hmm.

10 days until Christmas, we’ll be sending gifts out by Friday so keep an eye out if you don’t live close. Lori decorated the railing of our deck with lights, garland and 3 big red bows. She always has the Christmas spirit even if it’s scaled way back this year as everything is in boxes. Guess I’ll run as it’s 6:11 am. Hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

P.s. check out Mr Ty on his board! He’s fearless and hit all the expert runs!

10 days to go!

The countdown has begun, 10 days until Christmas Eve. This week will be mostly fun time for the boys at school although I think there’s a test or two thrown in. I don’t want to talk about the game, what a waste of time and the sad thing is I knew it, I just knew it would happen. I should have bought a lottery ticket instead. Hope Peyton Manning can come back next week.

I’m supposed to be back in Denver tomorrow and Wednesday. They say snow again tomorrow in Denver but we’ll see. It’s St Nick night up here. That’s when for 12 days (before Christmas) you put your shoe outside your bedroom door and you get a small gift. It’s a scandinavian thing. If you’ve been bad, you could get a stick or a lump of coal! We have 10 more nights to go leading up to the big day when the Big Guy in the Red Suit shows up!

Guess I’ll run to get a jump on the day. Lots of crap, and yes I mean crap, going on with politics but I’ll leave it alone. Just understand nobody cares about your well being as much as you do! It’s your responsibility to be prepared to take care of yourself, no matter what happens. In other words, don’t count on the govt, you’re on your own, got it? Enough said.

God Bless.

Lunch at the OR

Yesterday we managed to get a lot done. Lori ordered up and delivered lunch to the OR (operating room) as Dr. C and crew had surgery from 7am until 7pm. She then also managed to get Ty’s room clean while I ran to Costco and the grocery store. She even pretty much cleaned up our room, she was a busy beaver. When I arrived home, it was almost 4pm.

We did watch a funny movie last night, something like The Scouts Guide to Zombies or something, it was pretty darn funny. It’s warmed up here today (25 or so) and will be warm for football in Denver, (35 to 40) compared to what we and they have had the last few days. I think we need to leave around 11 at the latest. I’d better throw something in the crock pot. The boys will be skiing today which is great that they can just go do that on their own with friends, what a life.

Tomorrow I have some work around here and then am supposed to go to Denver Tuesday but they say it’ll be snowing again. Then Wednesday Lori and I are supposed to go down, Ty gets braces sometime this coming week, Thursday is Jag’s birthday (I can pick up any presents from you guys in Denver if you want) and Friday they have their school party and are out at noon and then are off until like January 4th, 2016. Wow, time flies. That’s it, time for coffee. Have a great day and God Bless.

Snow and skiing

As it turns out, I did have to make a quick down and back trip to Denver. Thankfully I was back up here by 11:30. Then Jag and I took a few runs. Ty was skiing too with school and we all finished up around 3pm. It’s snowing lightly now, but the wind is blowing.

Here’s a comment from Aunt Robi

Robi says:

I can say whatever I want, and I say we are surrounded by terrorists!!! I don’t have a gun but am thinking about getting one. Trust me if Clinton gets elected I will get one for sure! Have a great safe weekend you all!

Now if you face reality, she’s spot on. Personally if it looks like Clinton will get elected (God help us all) I’d get one before she does. Even some dems are defecting from the Pres and his rhetoric as he says no matter what bad happens, it’s because of gun control. A reporter yesterday put the White House on the spot when he kept asking them to name one shooting that would have been prevented by gun control, current or proposed. It’s no surprise that they couldn’t, but they kept spinning their answers to avoid answering the question. No matter what you think about guns, criminals don’t follow laws! Anti-gunners just cannot face the facts. Fact is gun crime and deaths have been at their lowest level since the 1960’s. The U.S. ranks number 9 in gun deaths even though we rank number 1 in population. France had over 500 fatalities this year which is more than the U.S. has had since Obama has been in office, and you virtually cannot own a gun there. Did you watch the terrorists on tv when they shot up the Charlie Hebdo newspaper office a few months ago? They just stood on the street as they knew no one had a gun to stop them, even some police officers don’t have guns there, go figure.  America is America due to the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The 2nd Amendment is to protect us against an overbearing government, not so we can hunt, as some dems would have you believe. Since Obama has been in office, the public have bought over 100,000,000 guns. He’s the best gun salesman in history. People are scared and rightly so, yet our gov says stupid things like if we have less guns we’ll be less of a target to terrorists. If you want to look at facts, every single shooting, every one, was in a gun free zone. Think about it, a school, a movie theater, an office building that had a sign saying “no firearms allowed”. Coincidence? I don’t think so. And yes Aunt Robi, I’d go get one, today! Sorry for the rant but the stupidity coming out of Washington is at an all time high. If you think the govt is going to protect you, God help you.

Ok, today we’re cleaning and skiing and Lori is taking lunch to the hospital as her team is in surgery for 12 hours. That’s about it, time to run, God Bless.

Snow, so they say

We’ve heard anywhere between 5 and 18 inches is headed our way, starting today. Right now it’s dry and clear but we’ll see what comes. It’s supposed to be nice on Sunday for the game which is good news. We just have to be able to get down there.

Lori had a great meeting yesterday am and a pretty good day at work. Meanwhile I accomplished a bunch on the phone and the boys had their band concert last night. Now the band concert was quite entertaining. The teacher, who must be a frustrated musician herself, played in the band with the kids. All the parents found this a bit odd but when she then conducted the band, we were sort of stunned. You see she was, I guess you’d say, so in to it, that her theatrics were comical. It was like some sort of cartoon or Saturday Night parody as she would dance and shake her butt like she was intentionally trying to make us all laugh. Lori was beside herself as I was in tears I was laughing so hard. I had to look down and cover my eyes. Parents on both sides of us were commenting as well. At one point near the end she grabbed a microphone and said to the crowd, “whew, I’m so tired and winded after that last piece”. Now remember, she was conducting. Lori thought she was joking. Anyhow she was entertaining, in a comical way. To be honest, the band sucked. Jag and Ty were good but comparing this band to last year at Manning was like night and day. We have to get them out of band!

Today is Ski Friday and I’m going to take the boys skiing around noon. I’m abstaining from politics but as many in charge are saying, lock and load, meaning arm yourself. It’s scary out there these days. At 4 Walmarts in Missouri, middle eastern men each bought 50 cell phones, 200 total, 9 police officers have been shot in the last week and on it goes. Hold tight as soon, as Hillary says, conflict is coming to a neighborhood near you! You see she can’t say “war” or “radical islam”.It’s really too bad what this World is coming to, especially at Christmas. Oh well, it’s the new reality, better accept it.

God Bless and watch your top knot!

2 weeks to go

That’s right, in two weeks it’ll be Christmas Eve. It sure comes fast the older you get. We’re up early as Lori has a meeting with the CEO of the hospital at 7am. She’s a lot more important these days than any of you know. Ha ha, but it’s true. Meanwhile the boys have a band concert tonight at school. Yesterday afternoon I took Ty to school around 1:30 so he could participate in the Egyptian Presentation where all the kids displayed their projects in the main lobby for all to see. He has a bad cold so I kept him home in the morning. Ty’s was the only project that was hand painted and his costume was great. His project was about Ra, The Sun God, who is also known as the King of the Gods. He did a really good job. Jagger had nordic after school and we also drive Evan who is in 4th grade and the younger brother of  kids in both Jag’s and Ty’s class. He’s a kick and is also a free skier. We carpool and bring Evan with us a few days a week as the Ski Academy is close to us.

Today I have about 4 conference calls that I need to get done and some more cleaning around this house. Speaking of Christmas Eve, we’ll spend it up here and then drive down to Grandma’s Christmas morning. We volunteered to bring the food this year to change it up a bit from a meat and cheese platter. Not sure what we’ll do but we’ll think of something. Lori just walked out the door so I’d better get rolling as both boys are still in bed. I hope Ty is feeling better today but think he probably still has a bit of a cold. Hope you all have a good day. Go out and do something fun or different that you’ve always wanted to do or that you never thought you’d do, why not, shake it up a bit! You can thank me later. God Bless

Dad’s birthday

Today is my dad’s birthday, not quite sure which one but I think he’s close to 90. This kicks off the birthday season with Jag on the 17th, Tommy on the 19th and me on the 29th. Throw in Christmas and New Years and there’s a bunch of parties coming up.

Yesterday I managed to get 7 loads of laundry done and sort of cleaned up around here. You wouldn’t know it by looking around here but I actually did a lot. Lori had clinic which means she made it home between 6:30 and 7 pm. Ty finished up his project for school which involved him painting a picture of RA, the Egyptian God of the Sun. I’ll try to take a picture of his painting as he did a really good job. The boys have 5 days of school left after today. I was going to try to make it down to Denver today but that’ll have to wait until next week, probably Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be coming down for the Bronco game on Sunday but that doesn’t really count. Have a great day, it’s almost 7am which means we’re late, GB.

Tree is up!

Yesterday after I returned from Denver Lori and I went up the road to cut our tree. Ty was sick and stayed home and Jagger was still at school. Lori and I drove up Battle Mountain towards Tennessee Pass and walked in off the road a ways. After a while we found a nice little tall skinny tree that fits perfect in our small space. So now our tree is up. We’ll try to get a picture up soon.

Today is clinic day and I need to knock out a bunch of calls. The manager of the MGM emailed me yesterday thanking me for saving their relationship with their guest. They were aware of the situation but not that I had fixed it for them. Maybe they’ll put us in a great room or something next time we go, you never know!

It’s windy out and 17 days until Christmas, hope you all are getting ready. I suppose we’d better start shopping even though we won’t be buying much. That’s about it, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

10 hours of sleep, and still tired!

It’s 5:30am and I need to leave around 6 although it’ll probably end up being more like 6:30. We landed around 11:20 yesterday but then sat on the runway waiting for a gate. After a stop at the grocery store, we picked up the boys around 2pm. Needless to say, we were all tired. Them from little to no sleep for two nights at their friends and of course us from the trip.

We managed to go to sleep around 8 last night but are still jet lagged and tired. I wish I didn’t have to go to Denver today but it is what it is. Hopefully I’ll be back by 2 or so. Time to run so that’s all folks, God Bless

3 1/2 hours sleep

Well it was a great event filled with excitement, an unbelievable show, lots of fun and a little bit of drama. It’s 6am here and we have a 8:30 flight so no time to go into details but let’s just say in the end everyone was happy. I think I’ll let it go at that for now but will write some more this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I did save the day for a wealthy family who the MGM flew out here for the event, put up in a 14,000 square villa, and who were extremely unhappy. Now this had nothing to do with us but I overheard the problem (the hotel had promised to hook the family up with a meet and greet with Andrea which they never should have done as they had no control over this), so I took them under my wing and threw them into my group and took them backstage after the show. Needless to say the man was quite thankful. After the show we hung out with them by chance for a few drinks and I watched him drop $60,000 in 10 minutes as he tried to explain to me roulette. Next up was another $100,000 down the drain in the next 30 minutes. I don’t know how he ended up the evening as we went to bed soon after. He didn’t bat an eye but did ask me to tell his wife he was winning, ha ha. So we’re off to the airport, more later, God Bless.

Ok, I’m back, it’s 10:12 Denver time and we’re 30,000 feet somewhere over the Nevada desert. Anyhow back to our trip. Yesterday we had a pre show tasting at the Mansion. The Mansion is an invite only group of villas hidden right in the MGM Resort. If you don’t know how to get there, you’d never know it’s there. It consists of a dozen villas ranging in size from 3000 to 14,000 square feet. Most have their own pools and it’s very exclusive. After clearing security, we walked into a spacious courtyard decorated for Christmas like it was out of some movie. On the other side of the courtyard was a room or lounge we entered like a seating room complete with a bar, tv’s, tables chairs, couches and more. When you walked in you were greeted by hostesses serving Bocelli wine. We had 6 wines available and everyone enjoyed them. All the guests were very wealthy as if you were not, you wouldn’t be staying there. I mingled with the people I needed to connect with and then with some guests. Lori was her lovely self wowing everyone in the room. Soon Pete, Andrea’s handler, asked me when I wanted him to go get him. I looked around to see who was missing that I was expecting and asked him to give me 10 minutes. The 10 minutes went quickly and while I had some wine guests there, there were others such as our new friends who we were with that I mentioned above who were just staying there. It seems the hotel flew out all 6 of this group on a private jet and put them up in a villa to come to the show and meet Andrea. The problem was nobody told me and they had no access. When Andrea walks into a room all hell breaks loose. People start walking towards him trying to get as close as they can. We had a photographer on hand for taking general pictures but soon people were trying to get individual pictures with Andrea. Now this was not part of the plan at all. Veronica, Andrea’s wife, asked me who all these people were and I told her I had no idea who half the group was. She and I could see it was starting to spiral out of control, so I just took charge as I sometimes do. I started directing people away from Andrea while Veronica went and grabbed his hand. I said loudly “thank you, thank you, just a couple more pictures” and Lori decided who would get a picture and who wouldn’t. We then cut the whole thing off within a matter of minutes. Veronica was very thankful and whisked him out of the room with Pete. Next up I had Andrea’s mama who was left as they took him out. She too was visibly wondering what to do and where to go. I quickly took her and told her in my broken Italian that Pete would be right back to get her. She then hung out with me for a few minutes and thankfully no one knew who she was or they would have rushed to her as well.

Once mama (Edie) was gone, Lori and I relaxed and I overheard my new friend from above saying “he was embarrassed and very upset”. Upon hearing this I walked over and learned what he was promised and understood his frustration. I told him, his wife, mother in law, husband, friend and wife, to just stay there and relax. I quickly called Pete and told him I needed to add 6 people to the meet and greet after the show. Now being Vegas, we already had 24 people which is a lot for a meet and greet. In Robins group in Phoenix, I had booked 4. Anyhow Pete said no problem, whatever I needed, he’d clear it with Veronica and get it done. I then went back to Henry and his family and told him that I was sorry the hotel promised him something that didn’t happen but it had nothing to do with me or Andrea. When I told him I was going to take him after the show and get him and his whole family backstage for a quick photo, he was so relieved and thankful. They were all sitting close to us in the 4th row so I told him where to go after the show and that we’d meet then. He was still pissed off at the hotel and frankly if it wasn’t for me, they would have lost a customer who probably spends a few million a year on gambling.

After the show Lori and I gathered our group and took them back. She then waited with them while I contacted Pete to see if Andrea was ready. A few minutes later we rushed (almost ran) the whole group back to his dressing room. In the interest of time and being such a large group, I told them all that we were going to break into three groups and only do three pictures. You see after the show, Andrea is spent and needs to get out asap. I had Lori go in with Veronica and arrange the people around Andrea and then she took pictures with their cell phones. I meanwhile kept the groups organized outside his dressing room door only letting one group in when Lori sent one out. I’ll bet we handled 24 people in less than 2 minutes. Veronica even said to Lori, “are you sure, do we need to do more” and Lori said no that’s ok, get Andrea out of here. So she did. That was about it for the evening and Veronica was very happy and thankful how quickly we had the groups in and out.

We’re about to land so I need to run, it was fun but busy and a late night. Henry my new friend was a blast and I’m sure we’ll see him again. We’re not big Vegas fans because of the smoke in the casinos and hotels but the food is fantastic. There’s also too many what we call sheeple, people that are oblivious and basically stupid. I think you know what we mean. Not trying to be uppity here, it just is what it is. More to tell but no time, hope all’s well and Lori will post pictures later. I think our whole family will be with Andrea, Alberto, Cinzia and Veronica this summer in July for a concert in Italy. Have a good day and Go Bronco’s!
