And it’s here

Snow, that is. I made it down and up yesterday without hitting much of anything on the ground but it was snowing most of the way. By the time I arrived home, I had to get right back in the car to take Jag to nordic training and then go to Walgreens and then pick up Ty and then go to Sports Authority and then back to pick up Jag and then, finally, went home.

Lori whipped up some good leftovers and we all had dinner before settling down for the night. We awoke to 4 or 5 inches of the white stuff on the cars and ground. It’s now 7am and we need to leave within the hour. I’ll probably need to drive everyone as Lori’s car is almost out of gas. I did get her car fixed at the dealer yesterday and it turned out there were two recalls from Chevrolet that needed to be fixed too so it was good timing.

Mojo likes the snow of course. I have a few things to do around here today and we have more basketball games tonight and then tomorrow night we’ll head to Denver to start cleaning out the house. That’s it, time to run, God Bless.

Snow on the way

It’s 5 am and I’ll be on the road to Denver in about 45 minutes. They say snow but so far, so good outside. Hope I get back over the pass this afternoon. Last night we had 4 basketball games, the 7A and B games and then the 8A and B games. Jag played in two and Ty in one and both did well. In one game Jag was the leading scorer with over half his teams points. It all started at 4:30 and went until 7:30, uggh.

No time for much more so that’s it for the day. lots going on including having to get everything packed and out of the house in about 20 days. Hope all’s well, God Bless.

Basketball tonight

After school we have two games, I think Ty is up first and then Jag. Today is clinic day at Lori’s work so not sure if she can make it although I know she’s going to try. Yesterday was a blur, lots happening. Later this week we need to start cleaning and moving the rest of the stuff out of our house in Denver. We’re not counting our chickens or dollars until we get the check but things seem to be moving in the right direction.

It was really nice up here yesterday with temperatures in the mid 60’s. I know the snow and cold is coming and when it does, it’ll hit like a Mack Truck. Hopefully it’ll hold off and in the next two weeks we can get things handled at the house as it’ll be no fun moving in the snow.

Time to run, hope all’s well, I’m staying away from politics but it’s hard, so hard. Oh well, not like anyone reading this is going to change their mind about anyone anyhow.

We’re back! Sorry Mom

After 6 weeks of having our defense carry the team, Peyton Manning and the offense came to life! Over 340 yards passing and over 160 yards rushing led to a 29 to 10 victory. If not for a terrible call against our defense, it would have been 29 to 3. It was just a total beat down no matter how you look at it.

Now onto the Indianapolis Colts next week.

In the morning we basically recovered from Halloween with a bunch of house cleaning and a trip to Costco. Every time we go to Costco it’s $300 or $400 bucks, no way around it. That’s what happens when you have two kids that are eating everything in sight and growing out of shoes and clothes every month.

This week there’s a early release on Wednesday but I’ll be in Denver so Lori will get the kids. We figure we have 3 weekends to get everything out of the house and the first thing will be to clean out all the dressers and closets so we can even move the furniture.

I have a big call this morning as I need to start prepping the financial projections for next year. So lots to do, time to run, Go Broncos! and yes God Bless!

November 1st

20151031_202747_resized20151031_202352_resized20151031_202412_resized20151031_203143_resized20151031_202622_resizedHere we go, Christmas will be here soon now that Halloween is out of the way, but first let’s talk about last night. We started out all going to Dr C’s which turned out to be a rocking party with everyone is costume but first left and dropped the boys in another neighborhood. 30 minutes later we had a call from them saying nobody was trick or treating so we went to pick them up and headed to a different neighborhood. Well this was THE neighborhood for Halloween. Apparently people had been decorating for over a month. You can click on a picture to enlarge it, the pumpkin in a black light box carved like the Earth is amazing!

Anyhow we didn’t make it back to the Doc’s party as it was an adult party even though they said the kids could come. Jag received a text from a friend so we dropped him at some giant house for a party and he made it home around 10:45 pm. Lori, Ty and I went home.

Our neighbors were also having a party and I heard the last people leave at 3:30 this morning. This valley went all out for Halloween!

My broken rib is still killing me but nothing you can do for that except wait. The big game is tonight and I’m supposed to leave a bit after noon but Tommy said tickets are going for thousands of dollars! If I could get that, man I’d stay home but I’ve already invited some guys.

We need to clean up around here and put away all the Halloween stuff. We don’t have any Christmas stuff so that’ll have to wait. I think we have about 3 weekends to get everything out of the house in Denver. We’re supposed to go to the big annual school gala/party November 14th but tickets are $300 a piece! We’ve been invited to sit with friends at their table but I think we’re going to skip it as we don’t want to pay $600 plus should be cleaning out the house, plus have a Bronco game the next day. I’m sure we’ll be shunned by the school fundraising people but we did arrange for them to get the wine at a deal and donated a trip to Italy! Still they have their hands out for money every time you turn around.

We have some frost here but that’s about it. I think snow is coming on Thursday and I know I’m down Wednesday. Guess I’ll run and get some coffee and start cleaning this mess up. Hope all’s well, God Bless and God Bless the Denver Broncos! Sorry Mom.

Invasion!

Ok, we knew everyone came to Minturn the night before Halloween but had no idea what “everyone” meant. There were literally over 1000 kids and a stream of headlights coming into town that rivaled a concert a Red Rocks. Thankfully with us up on the hill we just watched most of it as the hoard stayed pretty much in town on the main street. Our boys and Ty’s friend Warner (who spent the night) took off around 5:30 and were gone until a bit after 8. They met up with Eva who is in Ty and Warner’s class. Jagger met up with some friends in town too soon after they left.

All the kids came back to the house where we had hot apple cider waiting for them as it was cold. Finally Eva’s Mom showed up to pick her up. All the kids must have had over 100 pieces of candy or more and yes, tonight, they do it all again.

I made it to Denver by 8:40 am and 3 hours later, after bringing the sewer guy donuts and giving him a few bottles of wine, our sewer pipe is clean and in good shape. So we’re all done on our end inspection wise and hopefully we can close within the month of November.

Tonight I’m going to our party as Clint Eastwood and Lori as Shirley McClaine in 2 Mules For Sister Sara. This is the movie where Shirley McClaine played a nun (which is how Lori will dress up ) that turns out not to be a nun after all. She’s going to wear two Moscow Mule cups around the waist of her nun costume so our theme comes together. Should be a fun party at Dr. C’s. She’s the only one on her team who dressed up yesterday (good for her) but lots of others in the hospital did. She wore her 60’s go go outfit which she always looks cute in.

Time to run, everyone is still sleeping. It’s clear and a little cool but no snow on the ground. November 1st tomorrow, time for Uncle Tommy to get that Christmas tree up!

God Bless.

Pre Halloween

Today the kids dress up at school, Lori dresses up at work and well, I just work. I need to run back down to the house in Denver to meet the sewer guys and then beat it back up the hill. The kids will trick or treat tonight in Minturn and then again tomorrow around Vail and Lori and I go to a party. Then Sunday is the big game with me a some guys (it’s a night game so too late for the wife or kiddos) so I have a busy weekend. I’m just praying that the sewer pipe just needs to be cleaned and not replaced.

I fixed the basement stairs and fireplace doors yesterday while the furnace guy was there for over 3 hours trying to figure out what was going on. In the end we managed to get it fixed so after the sewer, we should be good to go.

I need to run as I need to be in Denver by 9 so time to go, God Bless

Bronc Riding

Ok, I didn’t really ride a bucking bronco but I did slip and fall on some ice yesterday and today I FEEL like I rode a bucking bronco yesterday. I’m fine, just have a small bruise on my forearm and my side, specifically my ribs feel like well, I rode a bucking bronco. No worries though, I’ll be fine.

I think I’m headed to Denver tomorrow as our sewer pipe is getting cleaned out at 9 am. Pray the pipe doesn’t need to be replaced. The few other things are small like fixing the fireplace door, reinforce a basement step and a couple of small things with the furnace that the furnace guy can fix in 20 minutes. Other than that it looks like we’ll pass the inspection. Hopefully the entire list will only cost about $1500 to $2000, if we don’t need a whole new sewer pipe.

The Republican debate was last night and was pretty good as they didn’t let themselves get sucked into stupid questions by the liberal moderators. Even the crowd in supposedly liberal Boulder boo’d the moderators several times.

I made a lamb roast last night that was pretty good. Lamb just gets overcooked so fast. Tomorrow is Halloween here and then again Saturday so lots to do. Guess I’ll run as it’s 6:48 am, take care and yes, God Bless!

Snowy driving

Lori and I headed down to Denver yesterday for some errands and left around 2pm from downtown to head back up the hill. About Georgetown it really started to snow. We made it up and through the tunnel and then down to Frisco. By the time we made it to Vail pass it was really coming down. We made it up and over just in time before they closed the pass down going east. A few semi trucks were jack knifed blocking the road as they didn’t have chains on and spun out. Going west wasn’t as much of an issue but I guess it got a little worse as time went on. In any case, it was a bit milder in Minturn and we settled in for the night.

Today we need to work on the kids costumes and ours as Halloween comes early in Minturn. I guess people from all over the valley come here on Friday night and it’s sort of a tradition. Then Saturday night, Halloween,  they do it all over again.

I have a couple of calls today and we’re waiting to hear  more about the house inspection. We already found out that the sewer from the street to the house needs to be cleaned out as they sent us a scope or video of it. We need to pay for that and probably whatever else comes through. Hope it’s not too bad. Time to run, hope everyone is well, God Bless.

Anybody out there?

Well it’s been a good long time since we’ve had any comments. We’re beginning to think no one is out there. Tonight it’s going to be 19 degrees up here and 30 in Denver. Winter is coming, hope you all are prepared. It was nice yesterday after a rainy morning.

Our inspection was yesterday afternoon and now we just need to wait for the report. What we need to do is come up with our Halloween costumes stat! That’s doctor talk for right away. Guess I’ll run as it’s almost 6 am. Hope you all are well, if you’re out there, GB
