Marty’s birthday

Tonight we’re headed to Marty and Mel’s for dinner for his birthday. Clark, our other buddy, is having a birthday get together too in Vail, but we’re going to Marty’s.

Crappy football game last night. Too many penalties by our team. It was one of those games you just knew we’d probably lose. Oh well, 16 more to go.

Nice and cool up here. Lori is working in Edwards and I’ll pick her up at 5 to head to Marty’s for dinner.

Guess Shelly is doing fine. So is Dixie, albeit confused.

They say it’ll be a frigid winter in the upper Midwest and Northwest but we could be normal to mild here which we’ll gladly accept. Hope they’re right. The Farmer’s Almanac is usually pretty reliable.

Time to go. Make it a great day, stock up and get ready for winter. Remember, no one is going to be there to save you when you need help, unless of course you’re an illegal immigrant! God Bless.

Football

In just a little under 12 hours, the Broncos will play the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. It’s the beginning of a new era for us here in Denver and everyone is super excited. Sure hope we win.

Yesterday I went to James to watch the Raider game with him. They lost but we had a good time. Lori took Dixie to get her nails done. We’re up early as she need to be at work at 7:45. Looks like a full moon outside. It’s really bright outside every night.

It was sunny but cooler yesterday. I think Fall is rolling in even though there’s still some 80-to-90-degree days ahead. There’s a hot 85 and a cool 85 if you know what I mean.

Yesterday the news said that Americans pay more in taxes than food, energy and medical expenses combined. Think about that when you vote in a couple months. Doesn’t seem right does it. We have a Senator here, Michael Bennet, that’s running tv ads of how he’s against big oil and works for Colorado. What a joke. He’s a follower just like all the politicians. This is the first time I think he’s run tv ads though so he must be nervous, deservedly so. Hope he loses like everyone in office. Nothing will change until there are term limits.

Not much else going on, time to get moving. Lots to do at work. Have a great week and Go Broncos! God Bless.

21 years

Hard to believe it was 21 years ago today that the terrorist attacks of 9/11 took place. I’m sure everyone can remember exactly where they were. We were home on Taft Court and Lori called me downstairs to see what was happening on the tv. It’s still surreal. Never forget.

Yesterday we did some work around the house, took a drive to Frisco and then watched college football for most of the afternoon. Lori watched some bad movie!

I’m going to James to watch the Raider game today. Should be a good day of football. I’ll see if Marty wants to come. His birthday is Tuesday.

On another note, in 2023, if not earlier, food shortages will be here. If you’re paying attention, you know there are some shortages now and prices have gone up. Problem is the things you find available now were mostly produced in 2021. This year’s production of things, which is way down, we will experience in 2023. One rancher predicted ground beef could be $50 a pound! That sounds like a stretch but so did all this woke crap and $5 gas two years ago. Better safe than sorry. Enough said.

Time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Dinner

Last night we were headed to dinner with our friends Gerry and Marcie and two other couples who are friends of theirs from Florida. Earlier in the day Gerry called Lori saying he wanted to get a chest x-ray and some labs done. His doctor, who we know from Chicago, told him to do so after he complained of being tired and had slight chest pains. Lori told him to go straight to the ER. Gerry, of course, put it off until the middle of the afternoon. So when he finally went in, he wasn’t done by dinner. Getting there that late, they told him they wanted to run some more tests and keep him over night. We all found this out when Marcie met us at the restaurant. Marcie, Lori, our new friends from Florida and I had dinner and then went to Marcie’s after dinner while Gerry spent the night at the hospital.

The two couples we met were super nice and we hit it off with them right away. During the night we all exchanged contact info and Lori and I are headed to Miami sometime soon to go out on their boat. Turns out their “boat” is more like a few hundred-million-dollar yacht. It’s well over 100 feet long and 40 feet wide. I knew something was up when the girls sat down, and I saw their jewelry as it was kind of in your face. Lori told me each of the girls wedding rings are worth well over a couple million dollars. We found out later that Ann and Ari are one of the richest families in the Country and Marco and Ely do pretty well themselves. Marco sells yachts and that’s how they met Ann and Ari. You’d never know they were really that wealthy if the girls, especially Ann, wasn’t wearing in excess of 3 or 4 million dollars’ worth of diamonds. I didn’t pick up on it as I thought they just had nice rings, but Lori sure did. Anyhow, Ari and Marco were super nice and invited me golfing today, but I passed. Super nice people though. Ann is my age and Ari, her husband, is 72. He was a paratrooper in the Israeli Army when he was younger. Marco and Ely are Cuban and met in Miami when they were just 14. Both girls are urging Lori to start a concierge medical service and said they’d help her get going. It was a super fun evening and we’re for sure headed to Miami as they made us promise we’d come down. Just regular, good people, with a lot of money.

Today it’s cooler up here and nice. We’ll head to the gym and then I’m not sure what we’re doing. Lori will call the hospital this morning to check on Gerry. She’s sort of his go to on call medical person whenever he has a problem. We’ve known them for well over 10 years.

Boys are fine, the smoke from the California fires isn’t as bad this morning, and the weather is nice. Looking forward to football tomorrow. Lori is going on a hike with Phoebe who is coming up from Denver. Hard to believe it’s already the 10th of September. make it a great day, God Bless.

5 Years

Well today is five years since Mom passed away. hard to believe it’s been that long. We all miss her everyday but in a strange way she’s still here with us as we often find ourselves doing something or saying something or even thinking something that reminds us of her. Sometimes when Robin laughs, it’s like Mom is channeling herself through Robin! That’s just one example so you know what I mean. I’m sure she’s charming everyone in Heaven like she did here on Earth. We miss and love you Mom!

Tom’s down 47 pounds! Whoo hoo! Shelly is hanging in there and the boys are well. Robin and Robert are headed to the east coast for his high school reunion and our house is super clean which makes Lori happy!

The Queen died yesterday, so sad. The end of an era. England had the Queen, a lady of grace who was respected around the World for 7 decades and we have Joe Biden. How is that even possible. We, America, better wake the hell up in 2 months or our once great civilization will soon come to an end.

Time to go, make it a great day and may God watch over you!

FOOTBALL!

It’s here, FOOTBALL! Tonight at 6:20 the season kicks off. Been a long time coming.

First up, we have the day. Lori has a dentist appointment at 8 and I have a wine tasting in Silverthorne at 4. I should be done just in time to get home for the game. We’re supposed to go to a party at 6, but as I said, FOOTBALL! Who throws a party on the opening day of FOOTBALL!

Yesterday we found out Lori needs two artificial discs in her neck. Her doctor won’t do it as he won’t, in his words, operate on family, which he considers Lori to be. He will go with her and be in the OR for the procedure to help but has a rule against operating on family. Dr. B. sent Lori’s MRI to a couple doctors who are the best out there. One in Florida and one in L.A. There’s also a guy in Denver if we don’t want to travel that far. We’ll decide in the coming weeks. We’ll probably get it done in January.

I was in Denver for a haircut and to drop some guns with Toby to move for me. I also returned some clothes for Lori and hit Whole Foods before heading up the hill. I was going to buy Ty some groceries, but our schedules didn’t match up.

Time to get moving. I’m putting some short ribs in to slow roast for the day. Should be a good game tonight too, the Rams vs. the Bills. God Bless!

Denver

Man, looks like it’s going to be hot in Denver. So hot that they’re sending kids home early from school because they have no a/c. Hopefully I’ll be heading out of town by noon at the latest.

Lori is in Frisco today and will probably be home late. I cleaned up some around the house yesterday and between that and work will be busy when I get home too.

I talked with Robin for a while and we’re all hoping the best for Shelly. So hard to tell what’s really going on without being there. Hopefully Tasha is on top of things.

Rising crime everywhere, especially in the sketchy parts of Denver. Most problems are later at night. Mom always said, nothing good happens after midnight. Crazy times we’re living in. Time to go as I need to leave by 7. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Back at it

Yesterday we put on our new sheets we had bought in Italy probably 7 years ago or more. Lori had been saving them, ha. A couple days ago we found a new duvet cover and bedspread and now our bed is like we’re living at The Ritz Carlton. Jag made it home from Aspen around 10 and Ty hung out all day doing homework. Both boys might come up next weekend, we’ll see.

Today Lori is working in Vail and I have some work to do around the house. I hope to go to Denver tomorrow for an oil change and run a few errands. Football starts Thursday, finally.

It’s going to be hot all week in Denver but in the 50’s and 60’s up here this weekend. Big fires in California but so far, we’re ok here. Time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Labor Day

Today is the unofficial end of summer. Here we go! Labor Day was first celebrated in New York in 1887. It was a day created to celebrate workers. Coming up are the big three, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, time flies.

Yesterday Lori and I were back from Glenwood by noon. We went up to Carbondale for breakfast but didn’t want to hang out and wait as the lines were long. In the afternoon we went to the gym and then last night went to see the movie Bullet Train.

Today we’ll hit the gym again and Jag will be driving home from Aspen while Ty is wrapping up some homework before classes begin tomorrow.

I texted a bunch with Tasha who might have covid. A bunch of people from her trip to France now have it so she was testing last night. Shelly seems to be rallying which is great news. I’ll know more today.

Lori is still trying to kick her headache. She has an appointment on the 14th but is trying to get in earlier. It’s going to be 100 degrees in Denver this week but cooler up here and then on the weekend, a cold front is coming. Get ready. Hope the winter is not going to be as long and cold as they think it might be.

Time to go, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Glenwood

This morning Lori is getting her hair done in Glenwood at 9. That should take about 90 minutes and then we’ll head home. Think I’ll go with her, so she doesn’t have to drive and to keep her company.

The boys are doing well. Ty was at Cherry Creek getting some new pants yesterday. Jag is having a blast in Aspen. So far, no ants! That’s good news. Not sure what we’re doing this afternoon.

Shelly seems to be doing better. We had some tough texts back and forth with Tasha yesterday but seem to be more on the same page now.

We took Dixie to lunch yesterday where she had a beer and a sandwich. Of course she forgot 2 hours later that she went but had fun in the moment. She thought Lori was her sister Katie and told us she hadn’t seen her mom and dad earlier in the morning and was wondering where they were. We just let it go and said they were not around, which is the new normal. We might take her again today or tomorrow if she’s up to it. Lori is such a good daughter as she sees her mom 29 out of 30 days each month (or more) and works her days around taking care of her. I keep telling Lori she’s great at taking care of everyone except herself which is 100% true.

Time to get moving as we need to leave in 45 minutes. Enjoy the day and God Bless.
