Windy

The wind blew all night long. Not any snow to speak of though. It’s also around 20 degrees here while it’s around 10 below zero in Denver. Tonight we could get a foot of snow though. We hope they’re wrong. Jag and Ava will head down around noon today which we hope is the lull between the two cold fronts. The news just said it’s minus 12 in Denver right now at 7:15am.

Thankfully Ty works at 8 this morning instead of 7. It’s 7:15 now though, and I don’t hear him moving. He’s off tomorrow so he’ll stay at Madi’s tonight. Guess tomorrow is their one year anniversary from when they met. Seems a lot longer.

Last night we had a nice dinner hanging out together. Tonight it’ll just be Lori and I. We’ll lay low and watch football.

I need to go start up the truck and shovel a bit so time to go. Have a great weekend, Go Packers and Go Miami! God Bless.

Cold

They say it’ll be below zero in Denver for the next 4 days. Not sure about up here, I think not as bad. We did get a good dose of snow yesterday morning, but I had it all shoveled by the time we took Ty to work. No snow last night, but I think we’ll get some more in the next 36 hours. Hoping it’s only a few inches for us. Looks like 40 degrees or so in Denver Tuesday, so it will warm up.

I have a call at 7:30 so Lori will need to take Ty to work. I think Jag and Ava are heading home tomorrow to get ready for school. They’ve been gone since before Christmas, so it’ll be good for them to have a couple days to get settled before classes start. Ava brought Lori and Ty and I Christmas presents which was very nice of her.

Had cigar night with the guy’s last night. It was a fun time. Marty gets into Denver around midnight tonight. He had some issues with his boat and has now decided to sell it and buy a smaller motorboat that he can trailer and use on lakes as well as the ocean. Something like a 28-foot boat. Good decision.

Almost 6:30 now so time to get going. The kids are cooking dinner tonight so that’ll be fun. They made some garlic confit, which is a blend of olive oil, garlic and herbs to put on bread, last night. Jag’s duck was so good at Christmas, I bought a couple more at Edwards, that we’ll have tonight again. They’ve also been making their fresh bread since they arrived. I guess it takes a couple days for the dough to rise from the starter. Should be fun. They’re so cute cooking together. I told them they could always open a restaurant.

Have a good weekend and stay warm no matter where you are, as I guess the entire country is in a cold pattern. Robi said it was like 50 in Arizona. It snowed in Phoenix too. It’s also a three-day weekend with Martin Luther King Day being Monday. Enjoy, lots of good football! God Bless.

A long day

The kids finally made it home sometime after 11 last night, might have been closer to midnight. They had a long day of travelling. Their flight was on time, but they were stuck in row 26 with a middle and a window seat. An older lady who needed a wheelchair to get on and off, was on the aisle. Jagger was cramped of course, with his long legs. They then had to get their bags, get an Uber and head to Tommy’s. I told them to get his car and get on the road as fast as possible, as two hours earlier, Lori was stuck trying to get home from Frisco with the pass closed. It opened long enough for her to get through, but the normally one-hour drive, took two. We were worried Jag and Ava wouldn’t get through the tunnel or over the pass. Luckily they made it. It did take them about twice as long (over three hours) as it should have, but again, they made it. I guess the pass closed sometime later in the night. Not sure if it’s open now, as I can’t see any cars on the cameras.

All day long I told Lori to get out of work by 3. Of course, she couldn’t. I had come through a little after noon and by the time I made it home, you could see the storm brewing to the west. Right now, at 6am, we have a good dose of snow and apparently a bunch more is on the way. You knew it would show up sometime, as after all, we do live in Colorado. Not sure when the kids can get back down to Boulder. School starts Tuesday, but I think Jagger has one of his internships that start Monday. Thankfully it’s online.

Ty works at 8 so we’ll need to leave early, and I have a call at 10:30. Yesterday I was down to Denver a little after 9 and headed back up before 10. The drive down was not easy but coming back was ok. I did go to Edwards Meat Market and picked up some stuff to eat for the next few days. With the weather, we’ll be laying low.

Time to get moving. We didn’t see the kids last night as we were both asleep. We heard them come in, but that was about it. Have a great day, we’re officially over a third of the way through the month. Be well, stay safe and warm, and God Bless.

Snow

We have about an inch outside, but they say it’s coming. Hope they’re wrong on the total though as they say it could be a big one.

Yesterday I picked Ty up around 10 in the morning and we headed home. Jag arrives tonight, weather permitting. He had three interviews yesterday with an investment banking firm based in Santa Monica. They have about 200 offices nationwide. Not sure when he’ll find out. Next Monday he starts another internship that’s virtual. He’ll do that while in school.

Ty works at 8 and is off probably around 5. Hope the weather is not too bad tonight so Jag and Ava make it up.

That’s it, I have a little snow outside to shovel and that takes a little extra time. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Cold outside, by most people’s standards. It’s not really all that cold for us, plus it’s a dry cold. However, the next few days, they think it’ll be a bit colder. Maybe not though, if we get some snow. You see, if it snows, it’s not that cold, as if it’s really cold, it won’t snow. Get it? Good.

Lori works in Vail today and Frisco tomorrow. Jag has an interview today around 1pm our time, with an investment banking firm in California. He had one interview with them, but it was not with the division he wanted, so he was going to pass. They then called him back yesterday and requested today’s interview, but it had to be today.

Ty works tomorrow and I might run down to Denver in the morning, we’ll see. Didn’t watch much of the football game last night. Instead, I watched some shows with Lori.

I did get to Costco and City Market yesterday but bought Italian parsley instead of cilantro. Lori ran back after work as we use cilantro in our salads. They obviously had it in the wrong spot!

Leg day today at the gym, but not until 9 as my trainer has hockey from 6am until 8:30am. Then it’s work around the house. I did get into the village yesterday and picked up a new pair of shoes on sale, that I had been watching. They’re a nice pair of chuka’s that are comfortable.

That’s about it, 6am now. Time to go. Have a great January 9th. Soon it’ll be February and spring training will start in Arizona! Bring on Spring! We’re ready and happy to skip the rest of winter.

God Bless.

First full week

Time to get busy. Big week. Lori is back in Vail today and I’m on the computer and phone for most of the day. The kids, Jag and Ava, now arrive Wednesday night. Good thing with the weather in Denver today.

Broncos lost, which in the grand scheme of things, is a good thing. We moved up a couple spots in the 2024 draft which is a big deal. Nuggets won though!

Looks like it’ll be cold up here for the next week or so and then it’ll warm up a bit.

Not much else to say. Time to get moving. Have a great week. Check this quote out from the famous financier, JP Morgan, pretty obvious, God Bless.

““The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.” —J. Pierpont Morgan, American financier and investment banker

One more day

Jag and Ava get home tomorrow. It’ll be good to have them back for a few days before they head down to Boulder for the start of the second semester. Cool up here but it was sunny with a bright blue sky and in the mid to high 30’s yesterday. It was a really nice day.

Lori and I headed into Vail to go pick up her coat at Axel’s. She had the sleeves lengthened as they were a bit too short when she bought it. When we arrived and walked in, Marcel was working! Lori and her are great friends. She’s married to Dr. Huard who runs the longevity center at the research center. She’s Canadian and super nice and it was great to see her. She invited us to join her and Johnny for dinner but we didn’t want to go out last night. We will have them down soon though.

Ty took the bus into Vail after work to meet Will and Sonny at 7 last night as they were all hanging out as those guys leave to go back to Bozeman for school on the 14th.

Broncos play their last game of the year today. Kind of would like to see them lose so we get a higher draft pick, but then again, it’d be nice to have our first winning season in a handful of years too. I’m kind of torn.

As we get a week into 2024, there’s definitely a different mindset and feeling about what’s going on, at least for us. We have a different attitude and plan and are making a focused push on changing things up. It’s sort of like a family makeover, ha. That’s it, have a great day and God Bless.

Football

This weekend is the end of the regular season for the NFL. We could have our first winning season in years when it’s all over. That’d be nice but will lower our draft pick.

Ty worked from 8am until 5:30pm yesterday. He has a really good work ethic. He’s often frustrated when others at his job don’t, as they do a lot of standing around, and he hates sharing the tip pool with people who don’t work as hard as him. Good on him. He works again today from 8 until 5, and same thing tomorrow. After work tomorrow he works at the pizza place from 5 until 10 and does the same Monday. After Monday, he’s through with the pizza place as it’s just too much and he doesn’t make anywhere near the money he does at his regular job. We told him to just quit a week ago, which he did, but he said he needs to give them notice and just won’t leave them hanging. Again, good on him.

Jag and Ava made more bread. Jag also has another intern offer. Think he’ll pass on this one and stick with the one he has. He called Paul, my friend who manages James’s bands money, for advice. Looking forward to seeing them Monday night.

It’s back to the gym for us. Leg day again. Had a dream I was walking and talking with my Mom last night. Pretty realistic.

Brian and I are busy developing the new company. It’s basically a luxury, members only, wine club. It’s coming together really well. We’re deciding who to let in, and how, on the financial side. Last thing we’re willing to do is give away a lot of equity and we’ll absolutely, no way, give up control. More on this soon, as it’s now moving really fast.

My computer is almost out of battery so that’s it. Have a great Saturday and God Bless.

A little snow

Looks like an inch or two outside, nothing to write home about. 6:15am now and we need to leave in about an hour.

Last night about seven of us got together for our Thursday night fellowship. Good to see all the guys. We have a really good group. Marty is in Antigua doing something with his boat. Melanie stayed home as she’s through with sailing after a rough outing about a year ago. She was really scared as I guess it was pretty dangerous. She’s also recuperating from her concussion.

Ty works at 8 and we’ll go to the gym as usual. I worked out with Brent, my trainer, yesterday and it was leg day, so I’ll be hobbling around most today. Lori cleaned up a lot as we cancelled the cleaners as they don’t do all that good of a job and cost $200.

Jag and Ava made sourdough bread yesterday that looked incredible. He sent pictures and a video. They’ll land in Denver around 7 Monday night and grab an Uber to Tom’s and then head right up, hopefully getting here around 10pm. Monday is also the college national championship football game.

That’s it, have a great Friday and weekend, GB.

200 Migrants a day

200 new Denver residents a day, sounds like a lot when you take the 30 days in a month and do the math. Denver tried to send a bunch to Wheat Ridge, our old hood, but Wheat Ridge told Denver, “You want to be a sanctuary city, you keep them”. Good for them.

Multiply this by 50 States and you can see the problem Sleepy Joe, (yes he fell asleep during a speech again) is causing. So my question is, how in the hell can anyone vote democrat?

Last night Jag and Ava went to Scotch Lodge, Tommy and Kristin’s restaurant in Portland, and said it was really cool. Glad they got to go. Mark and I went to James’s house in Lake Creek last night for a cigar. Tonight, we have our regular Thursday night get together at the new cabin.

More work today on Newco. Yesterday we also went to the courthouse to get Lori’s new license plates. 45 minutes until we take Ty to work. God Bless.
