Aspen

This morning we’re headed over the hill to Aspen. Should be fun. Jeff and Tina are leaving Denver around 9 and will meet us there.

Yesterday I had to run to Silverthorne to drop some items for the wine festival tomorrow. Then I was at the house until I went to pick up Ty around 2:30. Lori went to Edwards to do a little shopping before having dinner with Adriana and Eleni at Craftsman.

We’re letting Ty drive the truck to work for the next few days. He’s under strict orders to only drive to work and back. This is a big step for us trusting him. Hope all goes well. Knock on wood. He is a good driver, just unlucky with cars, ha.

Our event is tomorrow night so today we’ll hang out and then go to dinner tonight. Not sure what we’ll do tomorrow during the day. Maybe we’ll bring some cards or something.

Football starts soon! Next Tuesday its August, WOW! Can’t wait. Tom and I’ve been pretty bored, ha.

We’ve been looking at some 20-to-30-acre parcels in Montana for some horse property and a place to put a small cabin. Must be on or near water which means a river. Prices are coming down rapidly around Bozeman which is where you want to be. Good restaurants, medical care, a major airport, and more. Lake houses are just too expensive, but we’ll keep an eye on those too. We’re in no hurry, but winter is the best time to buy, obviously. We’ll see what happens, we’d only buy if we could find a distressed seller or an incredible deal.

That’s it, time to go. Have a great weekend. God Bless.

Home!

Thought we were going to Denver today, but no! Lori was getting her hair done but we decided to cancel. She looks great as she is! I went to pick Ty up in Denver but with Madi’s birthday the night before, they were up until 4. This meant he called me saying he just woke up when I was 10 minutes from getting him to go get his haircut. So, guess who ended up getting a haircut? Me! I then picked him up around 11:30 and we headed home, arriving around 1:30.

Tommy called and had figured out that it was Grandma and Grandpa’s house at 708 S. Franklin Street in Shawano Wisconsin that I posted yesterday. That was the house our Mom grew up in and where we spent many a day with our Grandparents. It’s changed a bit but the outside is still the same. You could buy it for $139,000! Tom and I were thinking, let’s buy it! We called Robin but she guessed it was Grandma Miller’s house in Colorado Springs, nope.

I woke up at 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep for maybe an hour. My head was spinning thinking about stuff. I sold a $20K rifle yesterday to a guy in Texas which is great so I need to pack that up today and ship it out.

Ty works today from 11 to 3 and then tomorrow we’re off to Aspen. Brian, our neighbor, said he’d drive Ty Saturday and Sunday but I’m thinking of just letting him drive the truck and we’ll take Lori’s car to Aspen.

We’re off to the gym and then I need to drive over to Frisco to drop some Bocelli stuff off for the Breckenridge Wine Festival on Saturday.

Oh, Biden said he cured cancer the other day, who knew? And the news of the day is Hunter’s sweetheart plea deal is off! It would have been the biggest slap in the face to everyone if he got off as no one, and I mean no one, would have got that deal had they done what he did. We’ll see how it ends up, he’s still had preferential treatment.

That’s it, time to go. Make it a great day and God Bless, but first, for Robin, here’s Grandma Miller’s house, 1212 Nevada, in Colorado Springs. I remember the three-car garage as very few houses had three car garages back in the day. It was a cool house. Remember they had the small store next door where we’d go get candy at Thanksgiving! They obviously painted it. Good memories there also.

Denver

Lori works in Frisco today and I pick up Ty in Denver around 10. After he gets a haircut, we’ll head west. I think I was supposed to stop at Tommy’s, but I can’t remember why. Yesterday I ran to Glenwood for a stop at the pet store and Lowes. I do need to go to the dry cleaners.

Forecast highs up here today are the high 70’s. That’d be nice. Jag crushed his test last night and Ty had fun for Madi’s birthday.

Big ranch horse sale in Rock Springs Wyoming coming up in about 2 weeks. It’s one of the better ones of the year and Jake and I hope to find a horse or two to buy. Jake looked at one last week that was a nice horse, but the guy wanted $17K and at that price, you couldn’t make any money. Hope we find one or two that Jake can work over the winter. I might go, not sure yet.

Time to get moving as it’s 6:26 and I’d like to be on the road by 7. Make it a great day! Do something special for yourself, you deserve it, God Bless.

p.s. Robi or Tommy, can you guess what house this is? Let me know.

The Farm

I ran down to the farm yesterday to pick up 3 pounds of strawberries and 4 pounds of shishito peppers and some fresh garlic. They were just wrapping up picking them when I arrived. I also had lunch with Matt and stopped and saw Derby, my 80 year old former bronc and bull rider buddy.

I was home a little after 1 and then did work around the house. Today I’m running over to the Roaring Fork Valley this morning and then am really going to try to at least get started on the basement. We woke up at 5 and were at the gym by 6 and home by 7. Lori is getting ready to go to work and I just finished watering the hanging baskets out front.

It was a little grey this morning but nice now. We even had a few rain drops on the way to the gym. Hard to believe it’s almost August, time flies!

There was a Grizzly attack up by Yellowstone, no surprise, lots of bears out right now, especially moms with cubs which is a bad combo. I always make sure I’m armed in the mountains around here. The four-legged guys are not as bad as the two-legged threats down in the city though. You have to be armed for sure down there! What an World.

Oh, Cheyenne Frontier Days are on all week, good stuff!

That’s it, time to go, make it a great day, GB.

One week left

Soon it’ll be August! Then we’ll start moving fast into Fall and the end of the year. Back to school, although Jag never stopped, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, football and a bunch of birthdays will all happen in the span of 120 days. By the time January 1st rolls around, we’ll be in the thick of Winter. It’s going to come fast so get ready. Lori and I saw Halloween decorations at the grocery store yesterday!

Today we’re both working from home. Wednesday I’ll pick up Ty. He’s getting a haircut at 10:45. Thursday Lori has a hair appointment and Friday we head to Aspen with Jeff and Tina. Should be a fun weekend. First up though, I need to close the month which means I need to sell about $500K worth of wine this week!

Looks like a hot week with temps in the high 90’s down in the city. That means maybe 90 up here. Our saving grace is it cools down into the 50’s at night. A lot of the Country is roasting. We’re hoping for an Indian Summer meaning a late start to Winter and a long Fall.

Looks like Biden wants to outlaw generators now. If you need one, go get one. These guys just can’t get out of their own way. They think they have to regulate and oversee every aspect of our lives. Living in the 1800’s was super tough, even in the early 1900’s but at this point, if you could go back in time, you might consider it. I for sure would go back to the 60’s and 70’s, those were the golden years! We were so lucky to have grown up during those times.

Guess I’ll get moving, 6:38 now. We’ll either head to the gym or take a couple mile walk, maybe both! Have a good week, God Bless.

Relax

Yesterday at 4 we picked up Ty and drove him down to Denver to stay with Maddie until Wednesday. Her 20th birthday is Tuesday, and he hasn’t seen her for 3 or 4 weeks. Oh to be 20 years old again! We were down and up in 4 hours flat and that included a stop at the bank, Tokyo Joe’s and Tommys. Traffic was fine and so was the weather, but it’s still a long drive non-stop.

We were going to meet Jagger for dinner, but it would have been too late. Today I think Lori and I are going to see Oppenheimer. Yesterday morning I dropped a bunch of gear at Steves for a deep cleaning as he has a parts cleaner set up in the garage. He’s moving to Arizona as the new liberal firearm laws allow anyone to sue a retail outlet if a firearm they sell is used in a crime. This is the same as someone buying a car and then driving drunk and injuring or killing someone and then the victim suing Ford. They’re trying anything to take our rights away. Hopefully the election next year will right the ship.

It’s nice outside with less smoke than yesterday. It hasn’t been a bad year for fires so far, knock on wood. I think we’re going to the gym but I’ll take it easy as I lifted pretty heavy yesterday.

Tom gave me an early Christmas present yesterday! A new humidor for cigars he ordered on Amazon Prime Days, super cool! He and his buddy John were hanging out when we stopped by. I didn’t get to clean the basement yesterday but will try again today. Probably won’t get there, ha. That’s it for the day, time to get moving, GB.

Farmers Market

This morning Ty works at 7. He picked up his first real paycheck yesterday which worked out to be about $250 a day! Hope he saves a bunch of it. Nice weather up here again.

Jag jammed his toe playing basketball and will probably lose his toenail. He went to the doctor yesterday afternoon after talking to Lori. His other toenail was already black. He probably needs new shoes.

July is moving fast. One week from today will be the last day of the month. Hold on, the seasons will be changing soon. Instead of opening the garage doors to cool things off, we’ll soon be running the heater. I’m planning on tackling part of the basement today for sure.

Time to get moving as we need to hit the road in 30 minutes. Have a great weekend, God Bless.

Nice, up here anyhow

Wow, the weather in Denver is nasty. Rain, hail, wind and flooding seem to be all over the metro according to the news. Up here it was a nice day with temps in the mid 70’s, maybe low 80’s at most. Ty worked until 5 and then went to the gym. He took the 5:44 bus home and I picked him up at 6:15 down at the roundabout. Lori went to dinner with the girls and was home around 8:30.

Oppenheimer starts today at the movie theater. We’re looking forward to seeing it as it’s supposed to be the movie of the summer. Jag had a great call with my buddy who is a legend in the financial World. I met him a year or so ago through James as he manages the bands money and investments. We just hit it off and are pretty good friends. That’s how things work, you almost have to know someone these days to get to the right people. Paul told a guy who he had Jagger call at JP Morgan that he’d hire Jagger in a heartbeat! Pretty cool that Paul would say that, but then again, we all know Jagger.

Looking forward to the weekend. Ty is heading down Saturday night or Sunday morning to stay with Maddie as her birthday is next Tuesday. He’ll be back up next Thursday and we leave Friday for Aspen.

Biden may be done. A document was released yesterday that shows Joe and Hunter took bribes from Ukraine. Anyone surprised? Mainstream news will probably ignore it but this one might be too big to hide from. Plus the Dems want to get rid of him anyhow.

Time to get moving. Hot all over the Country with water temps in the ocean in Texas and Florida and the Gulf Coast around 90! That’s hot. We’re so lucky to live in Colorado. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Sick

Yesterday Ty made it to work and as soon as he arrived, was throwing up! I was on the way back from Denver so he took the bus home and then started walking from the bus stop in downtown Eagle home to the house. He was about halfway home when I pulled up. He took it easy all day and went to bed early as he works again this morning.

Good rain last night. Nothing bad but a good shower here and there. I booked a place in Aspen for next weekend. We booked it for 3 nights even though we’ll only use it for two. This way we can check in early Friday morning. We’re going to the Heritage Fire Festival with Jeff and Tina.

I’m watching on the news how a veterinarian practice donated 2 bullet proof vests for the Sherriff’s department dogs as one was killed in the line of duty five months ago. What no one knows is Tommy donated the money, almost $50,000, for the Sherriff’s department to buy two new dogs! Great job Tom. Best thing is Tom did this to help, not for credit.

Time to get Ty moving so we can get on the road in 45 minutes. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Healing up

My knee is getting better. Think I’ll lay off the gym for another day. Ty works today and I have a couple errands but should be back by noon. We just booked our place in Aspen for next weekend for the Heritage Fire Festival which is all about fire, meat and cocktails. We’re going with Jeff and Tina. We had to book a place for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night even though we need it for only Friday and Saturday. Maybe we’ll go over Thursday but need to figure out how to get Ty to work.

Cooling down up here, nice. I’m headed to Denver to make a deposit and hope to be in and out of town asap. Hope wherever you are you’re staying cool. Make it a great day and God Bless.
