Doing Great!

We had all but one of Ty’s conferences yesterday (Art is this morning) and Ty is doing great. He’s a joy to have in class and is very engaged according to his teachers. Good to know both boys have it going on. 7th and 9th Grade math is above both of us so their somewhat on their own.

Today after Ty’s Art conference, Ty and I are headed to Denver. We have to stop at 4 or 5 places before getting back up here to pick up Jag at 3.

Lori is having a MRI today as her headaches seem to be back. She’s had it for about 10 days now and we’re praying that this isn’t a full blown repeat of what we went through years ago. We’ll keep you posted. Good news is if she needs surgery, she can book herself and get in right away. Also the only thing we would have to pay for is the anesthesiologist and hospital. This is still a lot but there would be no surgeon charges plus the MRI is free, thank God. Now let’s just pray she doesn’t need to go in as if she does, she’ll go right away and then be down for probably the remainder of the year. Say a prayer even if you don’t pray, please!

On top of this, my left knee is killing me as it feels like it’s going to give out when I squat past 90 degrees. My right knee is great as that’s the one I had surgery on 3 years ago. Hopefully I don’t need surgery too! I’ll just lay off it for a good week at the gym.

I think it’s a little warmer today. No snow yet but we did manage to get Ty’s snowboard boots yesterday. He grows so fast he needs a new pair every year. We are going to stop and see my Mom today as we haven’t seen her in a while. Hope all’s well, hard to believe it’s now October 21st. 10 days to go and it’ll be November. God Bless.

Teacher conferences

It’s time for Ty’s conferences this morning. Unlike Jag’s, we meet with teachers individually which takes more time. Then I’m off to Denver for a quick trip and will hopefully be back by 2.

The boys went to our church youth group last night from about 5:30 until 8. Before that we all got flu shots.

That’s about it as I need to do some stuff before we go and I’m running out of time. Have a great day, GB

Cold and snow

It’s a cold, slightly snowy morning up here at 4:50am. Lori has a workout at 5:30 but will take it easy on her neck. She’s getting a MRI today as she’s had a sore neck and headache on and off since she slipped a week or so ago and jerked her neck when she lost her balance.

I need to go to Fed Ex today and send some wine down to Florida for a tasting tomorrow. Other than that, it’s chasing orders that are due this month. I have a couple guys in New York for a big meeting with some South American estates and Aleks Simcic in Florida.

Not sure what we ate last night but it was salty as we’re both swollen a bit this morning.

Hard to believe Hill is in the lead with all that’s come out from her and her staffs emails. Again, all she does is talk about how bad Trump is. What about what she’ll do to make our lives better? And yet, he says such outlandish things that people get sucked right into voting for her. This is despite all the revelations that have come out in the past week where she (and her husband) have lied, manipulated, and cheated their way through life. Hell, even their daughter is despised by all those close to her. Now Secret Service agents are coming out with tons of controversial stories about her but I’m sure those of you that like her, will just brush it off. She could lie right to some people’s face, and they’d figure out a way to justify it. Boy are we in trouble. Throw in the building tension with Russia and we’re really in trouble.

Get ready people as you have no idea how close your content little life is to being seriously upset. Not saying anything is going to happen but better to be prepared and not need it than need it and not be prepared! The main thing you should do is get some extra food and water now. Also if you take any prescriptions, call your doctor and say you lost them or accidently threw them out and need a new script. Then go refill it, even if you have to pay a little out of pocket as your insurance might not cover it. You should be doing this anyhow. The longer term way to stock up on your medications is to refill your prescriptions every 20 days instead of once a month. Insurance companies will pay for this but of course it takes a year or so of doing this to build up an extra 3 months worth. (10 extra days a month X 12 months = 120 extra pills which is about 3 or 4 months worth) Last, have a little cash at home. You don’t need much but should have at least $500 in small bills just in case. I could go on but these are the basics. Don’t forget to get some extra pet food if you have pets!

Guess I’ll run as it’s 5am and Lori is headed to the gym. Her workout is from 5:30 until 6:30. Hope you all have a nice day and say a prayer that the misses doesn’t need another surgery. Whenever her neck hurts for any length of time, I get nervous as she has those degenerate discs. That means sooner or later (hopefully later) they’re going to disintegrate. Let’s just hope it’s not now. Oh by the way, I made chicken soup last night which will be good today with the temperatures colder outside. God Bless.

Tuesday, I think

Another busy day, sometimes it’s hard to remember just what day it is. It’s getting cool outside and the end of the year will be here before you know it. Thankfully the election will be over soon as the ads on tv are just nonstop. Both sides lie and say whatever they think will make you vote against the other side. Ever notice that? Neither one tells you why you should vote for them, they only tell you why you shouldn’t vote for the other person. Nice place we’re in.

I’m going to run as it’s 6:30 and it’s time to get the boys up and moving. Tuesday is clinic day at work so that means Lori goes in early. Have a great day and God Bless.

Tax Day

If your one of those that filed an extension, today is the day you have to send in your return. We still had to send in an estimated payment April 15th but now have to send in the return and any other money you still owe. I am so disgusted with the amount of money we have to pay. You’d think with the govt collecting a record $3.27 Trillion, we wouldn’t have any issues at all. But no, look at our roads, education, health care and more. And yet they want more money. The question is why give them more money when they waste the money they already get? The point is, big govt does not work, period. Sadly though, you still have to pay the taxes as that’s the law. The only way to change things is by changing the people that make the laws. That’s why this election is so important. Ask yourself, is what we have now working? If so, vote for Hill. But come on, be honest with yourself and if you do, there’s no way you can vote for her.  Please think of future generations as it’s them that matters.

Now to the weekend. Lori and I took off for Aspen around 10am while Jag slept most of the day as he arrived home after midnight after Homecoming. Ty was up until 4am on his sleepover and then went swimming and swam 36 laps with the swim team. That’ll wake you up!

Our drive to Aspen was beautiful. There was almost no traffic on the roads and the weather was perfect. The colors in Aspen are still hanging around compared to Vail. We always liked the Roaring Fork Valley better but there’s no job for Lori there. We arrived at Bobby’s home (one of three on the same street) and he was so thankful for us coming over. He’s doing well after surgery and after raving about Lori, had to show us around. He’s bought the house next door and the one across the street. There’s one more on the cul de sac he wants but the lady says she wants to live there like another 6 years, she’s 72 now. Then he’ll own all the houses on his street. So after a nice visit with him and his friends from Texas, we headed over for lunch with our other friends before they head back to Florida in two weeks. They took us to their golf/country club for lunch which was nice and then we headed back home. We stopped in Basalt at Whole Foods and made it home by about 4:30. I then went to get Ty from Max’s, and Jag, still in pj’s, helped Mom bring in the groceries.

Lots to do today. Dr. C is in Mexico but that doesn’t mean any less work for the misses. My day is packed too. It’s almost 6am so time to run. Have a great week and God Bless.

A Great Night

After a close soccer game that ended in a tie and went to penalty kicks, we neded up losing. But as I said, it was a good, tough fought game. Next up was Homecoming but around noon I dropped Ty at his friend Max’s house. Max’s family lived in Beijing for his whole life as his dad makes things like t-shirts and stuff for big companies like Target. His dad is in Bangladesh right now. Lindsey, Max’s mom, asked on Friday if Ty wanted to spend the night. So i loaded up his bike, his sleeping bag and toothbrush and ran him over. He’ll stay and go swimming today as Lori and I are running over to Aspen to check on a patient.

Jag was ready around 5:30. He sure looked sharp. See pictures below. We went to the Resnicks who were hosting a pre party and hung out with all the kids and parents form about an hour. Then Lori and I thought we’d stop for a bite of sushi and when we walked in, there were a few couples we knew from school, including Lindsey, Max’s mom! Turns out she took all the kids to the movies which were next door and met her girlfriend for drinks and a snack. We ended up leaving Lindsey’s car and all piled into our Suburban and drove her and all four boys back to her house. She’ll get her car this morning.

Jag called about 10 and said a bunch of kids were going over to Lexi’s and asked if that was ok. He was riding home with Ethan and his dad but it was nice he checked in with us. Of course we said yes. He made it home sometime between midnight and 4am as I was up at both times. It’s a good group of kids, the girls as Lori says are all leggy and look 18, you decide! God Bless.IMG_0056

The weekend

Here we go, Lori and Jag are off to the gym at 8:30, Ty and I to soccer and then Homecoming tonight. Last night Lori and I went out to grab a bite to eat and brought some food back for the kids. In between all the sports and Homecoming, our neighbor Jason is holding the 2nd Annual benefit for his best friend who died 2 years ago on Maroon Bells in Aspen. The story goes Jason (who is part of the Mountain Rescue Team) told him and his buddy not to go but they went anyhow. They were going to climb the South Bell and then traverse over to the North Bell. Apparently they somehow ended up on the North Bell first and when they made it over to the South, the route down was full of 30 to 100 foot cliffs they were not prepared for. Throw in a little bad weather and when his friends backpack with supplies slipped down the slope, and he then tried to grab it, he too fell to his death. The mountains are dangerous and unforgiving and you have to know what you’re doing, especially if you go climbing up on top of them. We donated a couple bottles of wine, one signed by Andrea, to help their auction. We’re lucky as the two sets of neighbors we have are good kids, meaning they must be in their 30’s. They’ll do just about anything to help us out at anytime as would we. Meree (like Erie with an M) makes me the best butterscotch, peanut, oatmeal cookies I’ve ever had! Jag loves them too!

It looks like a nice day today. I’m staying away from politics but if you live in Colorado, you need to vote for Darryl Glenn over Michael Bennett. We’re still so disgusted with taxes that we have to pay. It’s unbelievable the amount of money we pay while lots of others (all Hillary supporters) pay nothing! Uggh.

Time to go, God Bless.

Friday, finally

It’s been a long week. Jag made it home about 7:45 last night after a cross country race in Rifle which is about an hour and a half away. They dropped him at the Ranger Station and I picked him up there. Meanwhile Ty and Mom were doing a huge project that’s due today.

Tomorrow is Homecoming at school and before there’s a little pre party at one of his classmates home which hosted them last year for graduation. The home I think is actually bigger than the school!

First up at 9am is the soccer tournament for Ty. They were not supposed to be playing tomorrow but they surprisingly won last week. I made Lori an appointment at the gym to strengthen her back. The kid who helps us was the trainer for the University of Kansas (the Jayhawks) basketball team and really knows his stuff. Our gym is great as it’s included and being a Minturn resident we pay like $600 a year vs $3000 a year for non-residents. It’s full of ski racers mostly, including our hometown gal Lindsey Vonn. Sometimes you don’t even recognize her though as she looks just like one of the rest of us. Anyhow Lori really needs to strengthen her core, glutes, hamstrings, quads and calves as they all have to do with having a weak back. Yesterday with my left knee hurting during deep squats, he had me do some really strenuous calf exercises and after those, my knee stopped hurting! It’s a good, total mobility workout that Adam (the trainer) customizes to each persons individual needs. I had no idea how beneficial it could be, everyone, especially if you’re getting older, should be doing this type of exercise. That’s one thing about going to the U.S. Ski Team gym, they’re pretty darn advanced.

Time to run, the dreaded tax day is Monday. I cannot believe how much we have to pay. I won’t go into detail but let’s just say it’s 6 figures! And Hillary wants to raise taxes even more, God help us. Oh and what a coincidence that all these supposed victims are showing up against Donald 25 days before the election. You have to hand it to her, even though all these emails and evidence are being released showing she lied, cheated and manipulated her way through life to only benefit herself, ignorant people are more occupied by what the Donald said 10 to 30 years ago rather than what she did as a member of the government. And no matter what email is released, which by the way, show her and her staff disparaging and insulting everyone from Catholics, Evangelicals, Bernie supporters, Trump supporters, and anyone else who doesn’t support her, they try to deflect by saying the Russians are hacking their emails. Who cares who hacked what? The point is what the hell she did and said! Read it for yourself, there is no way any educated person can vote for her. If you don’t like Donald, stay home, don’t vote, but do not vote for Hillary. If you do, you are voting for a future that will flat out hurt future generations, including your grandchildren, period. Enough said, I need to go as I’m getting sick to my stomach thinking about her. We might move to Canada or as Lori says, some island, if she wins. GB

New phones

Yesterday after stopping at the distributor and dropping off my truck, I headed to the phone store to switch our old cracked phones for new ones. Phone companies are such a racket these days so you need to study up on the latest offers and work the deals to your advantage. Only problem with this is that it takes a good 3 hours to do so. I finally finished up around 2 and was supposed to get the kids at 3:15 so I had to drive straight up the hill after stopping at the dry cleaner.

Today it’s more of the same. Both Lori and I have had twitches in our eyes which is probably from not enough sleep. The dog woke me at 4:15am from climbing on the couch and sitting on a phone which made it go off the hook and start beeping. Then I couldn’t get back to sleep so I’m sure it’ll be another tired day.

Guess I’ll run. Have a good day.
