A new week

US Senator: Go To An ATM…Draw Out Everything

Why would one of the most powerful senators in DC beg his wife to go to an ATM and take out everything it would let her?

According to reports, Richard Burr – now the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee – called his wife on a Friday night to tell her he wasn’t coming home for the weekend.

Then he made a disturbing request: “Tonight, I want you to go to the ATM machine, and I want you to draw out everything it will let you take.” Hmmm, what’s he know that we don’t?

Now that that’s out of the way and you’ll all be going to the bank later today, here’s what happened yesterday.

We made it home around 10am from the hills. We were a bit tired so we pretty much laid around the house for a few hours before getting to work. At 3pm I dropped the kids at bible camp at the church and then we really got down and dirty upstairs cleaning out our closets. We decided to focus on shoes and in the end had about 10 boxes full of shoes and boots all labeled and ready to go. Our closets have never been so clean, at least on the floor! This morning I’ll load them all into there truck for a trip to the storage unit later in the day.

Lori has a big week and so do I as next week, as I said, we’ll be in California for 4 days. Sometime this week Lori needs to get her hair done and get all pretty for her new job. We gave our ottoman away to James who will make sure someone uses it as our family room looks much larger without it. It was beat up and we were going to get rid of it anyhow.

The boys had a great time at bible camp. Jag is a team leader and it looks like they’re going to make Ty a helper too. They both had a good time. I guess there’s three churches that are involved. They’re working really well together which is nice.

Time to run so I can get some sleep as I’m actually writing this late Sunday night so I can go to the gym this morning. We have an agent coming at 9:30 to preview our house today so there’s lots to do before he or she arrives.

Hope everyone is doing well, have a great week and God Bless.

Tired

It’s hard work looking at houses, getting ready to move and constantly keeping you house ready to show to perspective buyers. Yesterday we looked at a few more and finally found one we love but of course first we need to sell ours and then figure out a way to get financed for a new house. On top of that we need to get the kids school situation figured out and get to California for the memorial service.

This coming week, starting tonight, the boys have bible camp each night from 5 until 8 and then the following week we go to California. Then we hurry back, Lori works one more week in Denver and then starts her new venture up here. To put in in context, Lori starts 3 weeks from tomorrow at her new job!

It’s 7am and we’ll soon rush down the hill for church hoping we make it in time. We had another showing yesterday but no offers as of yet. Say a prayer that we get the house sold soon.

Yesterday we dropped the boys at the movies to see Minions. We wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that in Denver but up here, you can. We then stopped by some friends house who we hadn’t seen in a while to reconnect. It was good to see them. We actually have more friends up here than in Denver so we have that going for us. We’re running out of time so time to run, hope all’s well, have a great Sunday and God Bless.

Won’t miss traffic

While we’ll miss a lot of things about Denver, we sure won’t miss the traffic. We made it out of town by about 5:30 last night and as soon as we hit Evergreen, the highway was at a dead stop. I managed to get off and take old Highway 40 around most of it but it still took us over 2 hours for what should have been a 75 minute drive. What’s worse was the traffic in town. I had to go to Park Meadows earlier in the day and Lori’s drive to and from work were both horrendous. There’s just too many people on the roads, period.

Anyhow the five of us and Mojo, (Ty brought Jack along) made it here by 7:30 or so and settled in to the fresh mountain air. We had 4 people look at the house yesterday but no offers yet. We know how that goes though as we’ve looked at a lot of houses and haven’t made any offers either. Hopefully that’ll change soon as it’s hard to keep it clean.

This morning we’ll be in Eagle by 10am looking at 3 houses and then will take the boys to the Eagle County Fair. It’s an old time county fair like the ones my Mom and Grandma Dixie would have gone to when they were kids. We have to squeeze in some fun for the boys.

Mojo has been outside already, had his breakfast, and the coffee is on while everyone else is still sleeping. Guess I’ll run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Before I go, one quick little warning from the Head of the Senate Intelligence Committee,

Friday, I think

As I said the other day, it’s hard to keep the days straight. The computer and paper says today is Friday but if it wasn’t in writing, we wouldn’t be sure. Yesterday I had some running around to do and have some more today.

We’re hoping Lori can get out of work a few hours early today so we can get a jump on the weekend traffic. Last week we left at 4pm which was just about perfect as it put us up in the mountains by about 6 after stopping at the grocery store.

So yesterday we had a terrorist attack in a gun free zone. Can anyone explain why the armed forces are not armed? Apparently some guy from Yemen who was being watched, went and shot up a couple of recruiting centers back east. Not good. Of course many other countries deal with this kind of tragedy weekly or daily. When something like this happens here, it’s non stop 24 hour coverage on every single channel. The thing that amazes me is that anyone is surprised by this. It’s just a matter of time before it becomes more and more frequent. If anything, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened more, like way more. These people don’t care about life, are delusional and 100% committed to destroying us. We were talking as a family how and why people join up and many of them are people or kids that our society casts out or in some cases has bullied (when they were kids) and then some radical faction comes along and takes them in and gives them a sense of belonging. Social media doesn’t help either as people can reach across borders and indoctrinate kids right in their own bedroom. I often say electronics are like a drug. Kids are sucked in and many believe anything they read. Rudy Guiliani says get ready as this is the new normal. Of course just wait as I’m sure the govt will somehow use this to suppress more and more of our rights. I’ll stop now but as they say, keep your powder dry.

Guess I’ll run, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

All a blur

We’re turned so upside down I don’t even know what to write today. Yesterday we were up and down from Eagle by 2pm and then Lori rushed off to work. Today I have just about as much driving but it’s all in the Denver area. I ended up taking Ty back to the doctor as he’s still trying to kick his cold or cough or whatever it is. Hopefully the steroid inhaler they gave us will work.

The days seem to be just running together and as Lori says, we just don’t seem to have enough time to get things done. Maybe if we had one 100 hour day, we could both get caught up.

Our morning showing cancelled but the afternoon people supposedly really loved the house, but no offer yet. It’s only been a day and a half but come on! Maybe today, say a prayer!

That’s it, time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Let the showings begin

Ok, everyone say a prayer our house sells today. Now I know that’d be a miracle but it doesn’t hurt to pray. In fact, the power of prayer is pretty powerful, don’t underestimate it.

We had our first showing last night but I think it was a guy who flips houses as he looked like he just came off a job and was by himself except with the realtor.  This morning at 9:30 we have another one but we’ll be in the mountains at a school. Then we need to rush down the hill as Lori has an interview at 2:45.

The house is literally the cleanest it’s ever been, even cleaner than when we moved in! Not sure how long we can keep it this way, it’s hard.

Time to run as it’s 5:43 and we need to all be showered and on the road by 7. We’d better get used to it as this is about the same time we’ll need to be up and moving for school in a little more than a month.

Take care and God Bless.

Wine be gone

I managed to get samples boxed up and sent off to the East Coast yesterday which freed up some space in the kitchen. Then it was time to clean up the mess I had made. Our house officially went on the market yesterday but we are fine tuning the brochure and MLS listing as there were some mistakes which there always are. They had listed us as having wood siding and as a Cape Cod style house and had the schools wrong, but it will all be fixed by 8:30 this morning. Although it’s a lot of work, it’s kind of exciting.

This morning I’m running to the distributor to get Aunt Ali some wine before it’s all gone. She likes a particular kind we’re closing out, wouldn’t you know it.

It’s 5:15 am and the Pres was just on tv talking about a deal he’s making with Iran. The kicker here is that we gave Iran the ability to have 14 days notice of any inspection, yea, that’ll work. In return, we will release over $100 Billion dollars to them. These are the guys who chant death to America daily. He’s one tough negotiator, (that’s sarcasm) . This administration is such a mess they’d even make Hillary look like an upgrade which is saying a lot. God help us.

Guess I’ll run, time to start the day. Hope all’s well, God Bless.

Another week

Here we go, first problem is Lori’s back has been out for 2 or 3 days now. She’s not doing well. The older you get and the more often it goes out, the worse it gets. Hopefully she can get it loosened up soon. She needs to get back to Pilates and Yoga when we get to the mountains.

Yesterday I boxed up 15 boxes of wine and have 11 more this morning and then it’ll be off to Fed Ex. I did make it to the gym which was long overdue. First up today I have my Monday morning conference call and need to clean up a bit more in the basement. Maybe I can get some wine boxed before the call.

It was hot here yesterday, like in the high 90’s but will be cooler, thankfully, today. Time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Down the hill

7am at 8000 feet, I just took Mojo for his morning walk up the hill and now need to get moving. Today I need to clean out our basement and my office and we need to put a bunch of boxes and clothes away or take them to storage. I think Jag and Ty are going with Vinny to the lake where his parents have a boat. We’ll know more when we get down the hill.

Yesterday we looked at a bunch of houses. There are some amazing deals up here with owner financing but they just didn’t fit. Either the kitchen was too small for the house or the layout was really funky (you should have seen this one!), or something else was just not right. Most all of them have nice mother in law apartments for visitors! The big pressure for us is where the kids will go to school. If we can get into Eagle Ranch the kids can go to public school in Eagle. Lots to do.

Time to run, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

Back in the mountains

About 4pm we loaded up the dog, some more gear and one extra passenger (the infamous Vinny) and headed up the hill. After a quick stop in Frisco at Whole Foods, we pulled in about 6pm. Lori threw together some hot dogs for the boys while I unpacked another load of stuff from the city.

Yesterday we had pictures taken of the house inside and out before heading downtown for a haircut. After that we pretty much just packed things up around the house. On Monday, the house will officially be on the market! Pray it sells quick!

Today the boys will probably walk down to the Minturn Farmers Market while Lori and I run down valley to Eagle to look at a few houses. There are a few available with owner financing which we’ll look at as that’s too good of a deal to pass up. We might make it down the hill tonight so we can stop in to Aunt Ali’s b-day party but we told them not to count on us for dinner. If we miss it, Happy Birthday again to Aunt Ali!

Hope all’s well, it’s beautiful up here again, it just doesn’t compare to the city. The sky is the bluest blue you’ve ever seen and the white clouds provide a sharp contrast looking like cotton balls just thrown up in the sky. Throw in the green pastures and purple mountains due to all the rain and it’s amazing. I sort of sound like Lori!

No politics today, they are easy to forget up here, thankfully. Take care, God Bless
