A Year of Change

Next week it’ll be in the 60’s! That means the great melt will be on. Lots of snow with nowhere to go. Most of our grass hasn’t seen sunshine since early December. It’ll be even warmer in Denver with temps hitting the 70’s.

This morning I’m off to the gym and then around 11, the tow truck from Denver will arrive to pick up Lori’s car to take it to the dealer. She has some more cleaning to do today in California and then comes home tomorrow. She had a fun lunch with her 9th grade volleyball team yesterday. Happy she and the girls managed to get it together to meet. Today Annette is driving up from Stockton to see her.

Ty cleaned the house yesterday and was going to stay at Sonny’s but rolled in around 2:30 in the morning. I’ll let him sleep in today. Maybe he and I can go to town or something this afternoon. Maybe we’ll go to Glenwood.

I met up with Jag yesterday and we grabbed some lunch before I took him to Costco and dropped $500 on food. He then went and saw Tommy for a bit. I made it home pretty quick as there was little to no traffic in the afternoon. Nice change. I stopped at a couple stores after hitting the distributor while down there and grabbed a few essentials that you just can’t find up here. I’m always on the hunt for things we need.

Robi and Robert are in Nashville for his birthday, fun. We have some deer bedded down under the trees in the backyard. You don’t want to stress them out as they need to retain all the calories they can.

In an hour at 6:30, Ty and I are off to Denver. Jag is meeting us around 10:30 or 11 when I get my haircut. Then we’ll all go to lunch. Should be home around 3 at the latest. Will be a long day for Harley.

Lori made it to California just fine. She did sit on the tarmac here for an hour while the deicer truck was broken.

Ukraine is a mess. The news just showed a bunch of pictures that have been on tv the past couple days debunking them as false and from years ago. One of the more popular ones supposedly shows a fuel depot being bombed. This picture is actually from China in 2019. Just goes to show you, do not believe everything you see on the news. Another purportedly shows Ukrainians praying in the snow. This too is false and from years ago. Yet I’m sure most people see something on tv and take it for being true without question.

Even though those images are false, you do need to keep your gas tanks full. Look, Putin is the same guy he was four years ago, the only thing that’s different is U.S. leadership. Say what you will about Trump, but one thing he didn’t do was show weakness around the World. China is sitting back watching. Also looks like Mitt Romney was right when he debated Obama and said Russia is the number one threat in the World, hmm. History has a way of correcting things.

James called yesterday on the way to the arena for the show. He was just checking in. Hope it was a good show. He has another week doing some vocals on the new album before he’s home. Marty is back from the Caribbean tomorrow. He’s been working on his boat.

Time to get moving. Looks like the 60’s are coming next week, thank God. Lori’s car is getting towed down to Denver tomorrow or Monday. They put it on a flatbed truck, they don’t actually tow cars anymore.

This morning at 7:30, Lori is off to Sacramento. Yesterday we closed on our refi. Russia has invaded Ukraine and now the news is telling us all Biden’s failings like supply shortages and record inflation, are due to this mess in Europe. The same news channels told us a week ago it was due to supply shortages and covid. What a joke.

Jag finally has the heat in his apartment fixed. We’re having lunch tomorrow when I go down for a haircut and a stop at the distributor. Lori has her girl’s lunch on Saturday and will be home Sunday.

We had another inch of snow and that looks to be about it. It’s all moved out now. The 8 to 12 inches was flat out wrong, thankfully. It’s been colder in Denver than up here. Sorry for them but good for us.

Alright, it finally hit. Not the big time 12 inches of snow or more they predicted, but a good two or three inches. The problem was the wind. Everything outside looks like it’s coated in a sheet of white from the trees to the grass and rocks in the yard. It’s still snowing lightly and will on and off until this time tomorrow.

Think we can make it to Frisco where Lori is working today. I’ll drive her over and hopefully she’ll get a ride back to Avon with Dr. B. We’re also signing the papers on our refinance loan today, whoo hoo! That’s at 9:30 at the hospital in Frisco. It almost fell apart yesterday as I had to run to the county courthouse and townhall. Finally after three calls with the title company I managed to get them to waive two of the things they were requesting. This is good news as it lowers our monthly cash out of pocket by about $2000! It also saves us $10,000 a year in interest which is just money down the drain. I’ve been working on it since December 5th. Those ads on tv that say “close in as little as 10 days” are a bunch of bull. The key words in the ad are “as little”, ha. It’s not done for a few more hours but we just signed electronically so hopefully we’re there.

Meanwhile Lori’s car is sitting in the garage with a cracked wheel. That’ll get fixed probably Monday. Then I’ll start car shopping seriously. I’m shopping now but won’t do anything until next week.

Can’t believe how screwed up Canada is. They froze a woman’s bank account because she donated $50 to the trucker’s protest! Hope she sues the shit out of them. Who knew they actually were being ruled by a dictator? Biden has been wrong on just about everything about Ukraine, surprise surprise. Kamala is being blasted as a buffoon, again, surprise surprise. What a shit show, you couldn’t make this stuff up. God help us,

Last night sometime around 9 it started. We only have a couple of inches so far. But it was the wind that came with the little bit of snow that stirred things up. Today I’ll be driving Lori to work as we have another cracked wheel on her car. I’m so over these low-profile tires. We need to trade her car in for something. Problem is finding something these days. How about a Porsche!

I stopped and saw Dixie again yesterday. She’s doing better than the day before but is slipping fast. Boys are fine and Lori had a good trip to Boulder. She’s getting ready to go to her 9th grade volleyball team reunion dinner in Sacramento on Thursday. Hope there are no delays due to the snow. It’ll be with us until Thursday.

Man it was windy last night. Hope Lori gets home before it dumps at the tunnel and on the pass. She had a good dinner from what I know. Good for the team to get together outside of the office. I’m headed to the gym at 6:30 which is in about 25 minutes.

Ty cleaned his room really well and then went to the gym and then played poker for fun (no money) with some buddies. He’s off all week. Jag and Lori had a late lunch and went grocery shopping before her dinner.

Looks like the Canadian citizens want Trudeau gone. Not hard to reason why. He turned into a dictator on a dime. If they boot him out, he has Sleepy Joe to thank as he followed his instructions to the letter. Good riddance, Biden next if we’re lucky. Problem then is Kamala would be next in line and then don’t put it past the Dems to put someone like Hillary in as VP. I mean really, who do they have, Kamala, worthless, Hillary, a crook, Pelosi, no need to explain. They are a party full of useless incompetent has-beens’. They went all in on total control and the woke culture not realizing everyday Americans would push back. The tide is turning. God willing it will continue. It’s Sunday but feels like a Monday. At 10 we need to hit the road and head down to Boulder for Lori’s team building dinner and then her robot training tomorrow. I think after Jag and I have dinner, I’ll drive home. The weather is going to turn tomorrow with snow up here in the morning. We could get up to 6 inches by Thursday, ugh. Lori will ride back with Dr. Braxton tomorrow afternoon.

Dinner was fun. Earlier in the morning Andrew was hit by a skier from behind and in the ER for a CT scan and MRI. His neck is sore, and Dr. Braxton will see him on Tuesday. James and I hung out for a couple hours in the afternoon.

Ty went to some DJ show in Denver at the Mission Ballroom. He made it back to Edwards around 3:15 am and will be home around 10 this morning. Lori and I didn’t get much sleep and are headed to the gym at 6:30 so she can workout with Rod who is the owner of our gym and super hard to get an appointment with. Then we’ll come home and get ready to head to Boulder.

Tonight friends are coming for dinner so today we’re cleaning, ugh. Ty was going to Boulder but I think is now going next weekend. Snow Monday, ugh. Cold most of next week. Hope it holds off until Lori gets back up Monday. I’m going to leave early Monday morning but she’ll be heading up in the afternoon.

James leaves tomorrow morning. We hung out a bit yesterday and are having lunch today. He heads to California for practice Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before the show on Thursday in Vegas. We’re working on a restaurant deal together. Super cool if it comes together but we’ll see. We have a cool hunt on March 7th and are staying at The Brown Palace the night before. We have a dinner on the 8th with a guy helping with our deal.

Ty was out until midnight and has about 20 loads of laundry to do. Still jumping through hoops to wrap up the re-fi. Too many details to explain. Harley threw up some rubber basketball this morning as she pops them and then eats them. Kind of her thing. She loves to play ball.

Think I’ll head out to the gym and get the day moving. Lori made cheesecake but I’m off most dairy and sugar. Down 7 pounds since Super Bowl. Not that hard, just need to make up your mind and stick to it. Every person is different, so you need to find out what works for you. Oh well, just doing my thing.

Watch for war in Ukraine. We need to step back and butt out, but we won’t. Not going to get into it but hope it doesn’t happen. Have a great weekend, God Bless.

Next week it’s going to be cold but this weekend, sun and fun! Andrew and Amanda, friends and a coworker of Lori’s, (Amanda is head of Vail Health Hospital) are coming for dinner tomorrow night. Sunday Lori and I are off to Boulder as she has a team building dinner Sunday night and then surgical robot training Monday morning. Jag and I are going for a sushi dinner Sunday night and Ty will stay home with Harley. Tommy, you should drive up and join us! At the end of next week Lori is in Sacramento, and I think on Wednesday we close on our refi. We were headed to Gunnison to visit Western State Tuesday, but the forecast is for big time cold and some snow. So that’s what’s coming up in the near future.

I’m of to the gym in 20 minutes while Lori sleeps in. She’s working so hard and so long these days she needs the rest. Ty and Jag are too. At cigar night last night all seven guys were lamenting how messed up the Country is due to the Dems. Three democratic school board members were recalled in San Francisco. Of course, they’re blaming right wing terrorists even though the district is 86% registered democrats and even though all three lost by 76% of the vote or more. I don’t know about you, but you don’t have to be math major to know those numbers don’t add up. Then you had Hillary basically blaming her getting caught spying on Trump as a right-wing conspiracy too. See a pattern here? Everything wrong the Dems do is the fault of anyone who is not a democrat and then labeled a right-wing terrorist. In Canada, Trudeau called a Jewish member of Parliament a Nazi who embraced swastikas as she supports freedom of choice when it comes to vaccine mandates, wow. He’s done, mark my words. So as you see, the World is still fucked up, but freedom is raising its head like a Phoenix. People are fed up and are through being told what to do while the elites make their own rules for themselves. It’s not over, it will get worse before it gets better but we’re on the right track. It did snow yesterday but it wasn’t much. It was more of a rain snow mix so the roads are pretty icy. Today it’ll warm up and turn nice. I was on the phone for a good six hours yesterday if not more. Today I have maybe an hours’ worth of calls. Lori is working from home.

James invited me to go see Jim Gaffigan the comedian last night, but I just wasn’t up to it, too tired after the day. He bought four tickets at the last minute. We’ll hang tonight as it’s Thursday.

Big snow and a big mess in Denver yesterday. Lori and I are going to the gym this morning before my call at 10. 6:09 am now so time to get moving, God Bless.
