Another morning

Mornings are good. That means you made it through another day. They’re also a fresh start which we all get every 24 hours. That’s why every morning is a good morning!

We went to the Village yesterday and did a little shopping and stopped to see some friends. On the way home we hit a couple other small stores in Edwards where Lori found a couple things for our trip. Ty was off today but is working today until around 1 or so as the only other fulltime employee, Andy, abruptly quit two days ago. When I say fulltime, I mean someone who can do everything in the restaurant from opening, to covering the register to making coffee to running the floor. He also is the resident bartender. He came up with this killer drink Jagger named The Sunburn. Molly the owner, calls it a Tie Me Up, or Ty Me Up, ha. He’s also now one of only two in the full tip pool, meaning he’ll make even more money. Employees get their share of tips depending on what all they can do in the restaurant. They have to pass a series of tests on each facet of the job to make the full tip pool. He worked from 7am until 6:30pm yesterday. Good for him. He’s sort of the de facto manager now. Most of the other kids there are high school students or others with little experience. We’ll stop and see him after the gym.

We’re going to head into the Village for the Farmer’s Market later this morning. Vail has one of the best markets in the State. The other is Aspen. There must be well over 100 vendors, and it’s just not food. You can get everything from unique clothes to custom made cutlery, and just about anything else handmade you could think of.

Marty has shingles and leaves for Beverly Hills today for a weeklong real estate conference. Poor guy. Not sure how you get it, but no fun.

Meanwhile, it’s nice and cool at night and beautiful in the morning, just the way we like it. Good rain this year too so our backyard is booming.

I did get both cars washed yesterday. We always take Lori’s car to the Village as it’s easier to park than the truck. That gave me the chance to wash it.

100 million people, or a third of the Country, are under a heat alert. Hard to beat where we live. The only thing that’d make it better was if we had a river or lake out the back door. Colorado is perfect except for the political makeup in Denver and the California transplants. We needed to build a wall around the State about ten years ago. We’re in the top ten of States that people are leaving, hard to believe. Says a lot.

I’m in Denver tomorrow picking up my golf clubs and Lori is working in Vail. Last week of June, time flies. I’m meeting up with Shultz to finalize some plans for Madrid.

6:24 now, time to get going. You know where we’re going right? To the gym! Have a great Sunday, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Summer

After a big time rainstorm last night, the sun is out, and the sky is blue. It’s nice and cool right now, probably 45 degrees outside. We leave our windows open at night and open the door in the morning which cools the house down for the whole day. Should be a perfect weekend.

We slept better last night as after getting home late the night before, and only getting 5 hours of so so sleep, we were both dragging yesterday. Last night I think we slept 8 or 9 hours.

Ty works today and tomorrow is in Boulder for a birthday party. Jag was watching some lecture when we talked last night around 6. Not sure what he’s doing this weekend.

At the mailbox yesterday, a big box came from AEG, which is the Rolling Stones promoter. In it were six really cool big boxes of merch with things like a flask, wireless charger, notebook, pen, keychains, luggage tags, insulated mugs, and a bunch of other stuff all from the tour. I wasn’t sure how we got them so when I looked at my Rolling Stones account, it showed six sets of VIP Merch at no charge with free shipping. It’s all really cool useful stuff. I gave Ty a box, have one for Jag and we’ll keep the others. Really fun stuff and a nice surprise as you can’t buy this stuff anywhere as I looked. Depending on their European Tour schedule next year, maybe we’ll catch a show in Wembly Stadium in London if it coincides with our graduation trip when Jag’s out of school. They’re supposed to play their last two shows of the tour there, which just could be the last two Stones shows of all time.

Two weeks from today we’re off to Spain, can’t wait. We have some things to do before we go and it’s coming up fast.

6:45am now, time to get moving and grooving. Have a great day and God Bless.

Epic

What a show! It’s like no way Mick Jagger and Joe Biden are the same age. He ran, jumped, skipped and twirled around the stage for 2 hours last night in a show, that was even better than the last one in 2019. So worth seeing them once again.

We left around 2 and made it to Cherry Creek around 4:15. Jag was meeting us there and Ty met us at the show. When we arrived, the thunderstorms moved in. All the weathermen predicted rain all night long. Once again, of course, they were wrong. The sky was clear with a nice breeze keeping us cool for the entire show. We ran into all kinds of friends and visited between the opening act and the Stones. At 11, when the show ended, we headed to our driver on 17th and Federal and were back at our truck by 11:30ish. A few minutes later, we hit the road for home. We pulled in at 1:40am and were in bed ten minutes later. Ty was a half hour ahead of us as he left before the two song encore. He spent the night at Madi’s in Vail as he works this morning. She’s much closer to work for him.

Not sure if they’ll ever tour in the States again. This was the 8th time I’ve seen them. Last night Mick said he took a drive over to the Denver Coliseum where the Stones first played in 1965 which is 59 years ago, just to see it again. Lovely Lori was one year old!

We slept until 7 and are a little foggy this morning, but we’ll be fine. The concert is still ringing in our heads. We were close, row 19, which was perfect. The stage is built so it extends out into the crowd so a lot of the night, Mick was 10 feet from us. Keith and Ronnie were solid. They all looked like they were having fun. Why else would they still be touring? They for sure don’t need the money!

Great family time. These are the moments in life you live for.

Super nice morning up here, sunny with blue sky and no clouds in sight. A big shout out to Harley, she was great hanging all alone from about 4pm until when we arrived home. Also, as Lori put it, super proud of Tom for going! We know he doesn’t like crowds. I’m sure he too, is glad he went.

That’s it, have a great weekend and God Bless.

The Rolling Stones

It’s here! Tonight at 7:30, we’ll all be at the Rolling Stones concert down in Denver. This is one of those moments in life that you can’t miss. I think it’ll be the eighth time I’ve seen them. It’ll be the second time for the boys. It’ll be a long day as we’re driving back up after the show as Harley will be alone from about 2 this afternoon, until probably 1am.

Lots of friends are going and are spread out all over the place. I’m sure we’ll see a bunch of people. Jag will meet us at Cherry Creek Grill at 4:30 for an early dinner and then we’ll drop our cars at Jeff and Tina’s and their driver will take us to the show. But the biggest news of the day is Tommy is going! I can’t remember the last time he went to a concert, probably at least 20 years ago! I’ll ask him today.

Two more home invasions in Denver, thanks Joe. All have been illegals I think from Venezuela. That’s one of their standard crimes. They’re clever too. In Arvada, a guy dressed as a delivery man, knocked on the door, and then when the homeowner opened the door, three men pushed their way in, in broad daylight! These days, you can’t trust anyone. Be careful as things will get worse with the 10 million “newcomers” (that’s what the Democrats call illegals) now here. If even 5% are criminals, and I think that number is higher, that’s an average of 10,000 criminals per State now living among us. Important that you understand, these people, coming from failed States like Venezuela, have no fear of consequences, and will kill you! Sorry to be so blunt, but that’s the truth.

Nice up here, sunny with blue sky. Think we’ll get a few showers in Denver this afternoon. We’ll be ready. Time to go, have a great day and God Bless.

One more day!

Rolling Stones tomorrow! Looking forward to it. Hoping the forecasted showers are all wrapped up by the time the show starts.

I was in Aspen and Basalt yesterday but home before 1. This morning I’m headed to the gym while Lori works in Vail. Then I have some computer work I have to get done.

It’s cooler up here this morning, nice. Looks like about 70 in Denver. Should be the same or so up here. Most of the haze from fires in California have moved out. Hard to believe we’re 2/3rd’s of the way through June. In less than a month, we’ll be back from Spain and that’ll be the halfway point of summer, wow!

6:30 now, time to go. Have a great day, God Bless.

Oh to be 20

Yesterday, carefree Ty, went tubing in Sylvan Lake, did some fishing, and hung out with friends. He lives a full life and doesn’t waste much daylight. Yet he’s up at 5:45 am to get ready for work.

Two more days until the Rolling Stones, going to be fun. Lori is in Edwards today and Vail tomorrow. I have a few calls today and later this week, plus some computer work to get done.

Looks a little cooler outside today, what June is supposed to be. No big fires anywhere yet, knock on wood.

Lori is making us salads for lunch and just made Ty’s breakfast. I’m headed to Glenwood today to get some dog food and other stuff. Jag is doing well, working away at his job and at school.

Time to get moving, have a great day, hang in there and God Bless.

Back at it

Fun day, great to have the whole family together. Ty’s concert was fun, and he made it home early afternoon. Jag apparently didn’t sleep well but did get some good relaxing family time this weekend. He works hard and is always under pressure. I’m sure it doesn’t help with Ava gone. She’s now coming back here the weekend of the 4th instead of him going to New York, good decision.

I hope to be in Denver by 8:30 or so and back home by 11 or 12. Ty is here today, and we might go golfing this afternoon. Lori has to run over to Frisco for her new employee that starts today. She has a team lunch to welcome her.

Lori made a great blueberry pie, and we had more food than we knew what to do with. Almost 6am now and time to get moving. June 17th! Six months until Jagger is 23 years old! God Bless.

Happy Father’s Day!

The single greatest, most rewarding and challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life is being a dad. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the World. One of our biggest problems in the World today is all the men who create children but are not dads. I know the World will be a better place with my boys in it and that’s all the I can ask for. Enough said.

We slept in until around 7! Ty made it back to his hotel in Golden around 2 or 3 from the concert and will be home a little after noon. Jag had a good day and has been getting some much-needed rest.

It’s gorgeous outside, like a painting. Couldn’t ask for a better morning. Lori made me coffee and I’m sitting on the couch watching the birds outside. Should be in the mid 80’s today, perfect.

I’ll put some ribs on around 9 or 10 this morning and then we’ll throw some other stuff together later today. I think Lori is making me a blueberry pie, yum.

In closing, Happy Father’s Day to all those dads no longer with us. I think about dad often and miss him dearly. He was a great man. God Bless.

Beautiful

We woke up this morning to calm, sunny skies. Must be 30 or 40 birds and chipmunks outside feasting on the bird feeders and these cool blocks of compressed seed I picked up at Murdochs, our local farm and ranch store. Beautiful morning. Makes you forget about all the shit going on in the World, as it’s so peaceful.

Jag rolled in around 11pm last night. I think he took a test on-line after he made it home! Ty is at a concert today in Denver but will be back late tonight or in the morning. I went grocery shopping yesterday and picked up a bunch of good stuff for the weekend, including elk and duck brats, some ribs, marinated Asian flank steak, and some Copper River salmon. Lori and I ate the salmon last night.

The town is packed with visitors, so is Aspen with Food and Wine going on. We normally go, but with the concert last Tuesday and the Rolling Stones next Thursday, we passed this year. I think today, Lori, Jag and I will go hit some golf balls at the range. Monday, I get my custom clubs that my guy in Denver measured me for a couple months ago. I’m excited!

Lori is looking as pretty this morning as the sky outside. She has that innate ability to look good, even when she just wakes up. She’s sitting right to the right of me on the couch oblivious to me writing this.

Jag and I are going to set up our Garmin In Reach Mini’s which are satellite communicators that operate off satellites. Both boys have one Lori and I have one so if the cell phone grid goes down, we can still communicate with each other. It’s also great if you’re in the back country, or travelling anywhere, like Spain! I have a new compact Sony camera to figure out how to use too. I bought it for our upcoming trip as it’s really small yet takes professional photos.

Almost 7am, time to get moving. Super happy for Tom and his new girlfriend Holly. Turns out, she and I have tons of mutual friends in common, as she was in the event planning business. It didn’t click with me until I heard her last name. We’re really happy Tom has found someone to do things with and enjoy life, as he deserves it. I told Tom, sorry for meddling, but I needed to check her out, ha. One of the last things Mom said to me was, “promise me you’ll watch over Tommy and Robin”. Plus, that’s just what I do. I’m sort of suspicious in general anyhow, as you all know. Anyhow, again, we’re really happy for Tommy. We hope to formally meet her briefly at the concert on Thursday.

Have a great weekend, stay safe, have fun and God Bless.

The Weekend

The weekend is here, thankfully. We count Friday as the weekend these days. The second half of property taxes are due today, but after that, it will be a good weekend. Jag is coming up sometime tomorrow. His internship has him working 12 to 15 hours a day, but of course, they only pay for 40 hours a week. We talked for about a half hour yesterday, and he’ll talk with them next week. His buddy Sam who works there, said if you push the overtime issue, they’ll probably fire you, nice. Guess Ava isn’t having much fun in New York. She really didn’t want to go.

It’s a little smokey outside from a fire over at Twin Lakes which is south of us. Could be worse, but it’s early for a fire. It’s going to be a hot summer. Thankfully we have a good A/C unit.

Tom has been out hanging with Holly who he’s known for about six months. Seems like they’re getting a little more serious. We’re super happy for him that he has someone to do stuff with and spend time with, but I did tell him, I’m looking out for you, ha. That’s what big brothers are supposed to do, right! They’re going to the Stones together next week. We hope to meet her soon.

We’ll go to the gym this morning and then will stop by and see Ty for a coffee. He has a concert in Denver tomorrow night. Father’s Day should be fun. We’re going to just hang out.

We had cigars last night for a few hours. Good to see the guys as always. It’s nice up here, mid 80’s and no rain.

Another day, another Biden screw up. It’s become normal these days. I don’t know how he’s even in the race. Crazy times.

Enjoy the day and weekend, God Bless.
