Happy Anniversary

Today is Mom and Dad’s anniversary! They were married over off of Colorado Blvd. and then were whisked away via helicopter to the Broadmoor. Not sure what year it was, probably around 1966 or 1967, as I think I was ten years old.

A little cloudy up here this morning. Lori is taking my 9am dentist appointment as she thinks she has a cracked tooth. She’s watering her hanging baskets right now.

I think Ty has a tee time in Denver at 3 this afternoon. Hope the afternoon storms are gone for the day.

We had a nice breakfast with Lee and Margaret yesterday morning. Good to see them again. Not much family left around, especially on my biological dad’s side. Lee and Tommy’s mannerisms are very similar. They’re coming back in September for a CU Baylor football game and want to stop by and see Tom then.

Tomorrow, I have a few wine appointments up here with one of my guys who is flying in from California today for the week. Then we’ll have a dinner at 5 in Silverthorne with a buddy of mine who owns nine restaurants and pours a lot of our wine.

That’s all for today. Hope everyone is doing well. Stay safe and God Bless.

June 2nd

June came so fast. Hard to believe we’re almost halfway through the year. 90 days until Labor Day, what? 90 days after that and we’ll be about 3 weeks from Christmas, unbelievable.

5:50am right now. We slept in, ha. As I said yesterday, our trip is all set. We managed to get a suite with a balcony and a terrace at the hotel. Think it’s one of seven suites on the top floor. Gotta love having a ton of points. Right now, our First-Class airfare and suite have cost us a total of $111 and around 1,100,000 points between the airline and hotel. We’re super excited and are already mapping out which restaurants to go to and what to do.

Lori and I made it to Costco yesterday and she had her nails done in the afternoon. We’ll go to the gym this morning before meeting up with Cousin Lee and his family at Hovey for breakfast.

Ty dinged up his knee playing basketball, so it’s a little swollen. Nate, (Dr. Cafferky), our neighbor, took a look at it and told him just to ice it. Nice up here but strong storms down in the eastern part of the State. Lots of tornados and flooding. That’s May and early June in Colorado.

Guess I’ll get moving. Have a nice Sunday. We need to start working on our Spanish. God Bless.

Spain

We’re booked! $160 and 620,000 miles for First Class. Can’t wait, we’ll be gone nine days.

Yesterday Lori worked, and in the afternoon, Lee and Margaret came over with their youngest son, Walker. We all visited for a couple hours. Good to see them. They love North Carolina. They sold their small house here for $2 million, bought new construction there for $1.1 million, and then put in a $250K pool and backyard.

We’re waiting for the plumber but just texted him saying to show up at 10, so we need to run to get to the gym. Have a great Saturday, more to come, God Bless.

Deer!

Last night, the deer ate one and a half of Lori’s flower baskets in the back. Needless to say, it’s not a good morning around here right now. The two baskets in the back sit in large blue pots that are easy for them to get to. She has bars of soap in each basket which are supposed to keep them away. That’s been working in the front, but I guess they didn’t get the memo on the ones in the back.

Warming up around here. Five of us had cigars last night. Fun time. We were texting back and forth with James meaning he was still up at 2 am in Italy. He is a late-night guy, ha.

Lori and I had a golf lesson yesterday. Get those clubs out Tom! We hit the ball really well. Looks like laying off for a few weeks did us some good. We’ll probably go hit some more balls today. Lori sure looks good in her little golf skirt and top! That’s good news as half of golf is making sure you look good, ha. Our coach is getting Lori a set of clubs today for her to use. My clubs should be ready in another week or so. I tried a bunch of different grips last week to get the right fit and weight for my clubs. You have to have the balance right. Can’t wait!

24 more hours and our miles are all pooled. Then we can finalize our tickets for our trip. We’re excited as it’ll be fun to go to a new place and hang out with James and Addy. The band has about a week layover there and it’s the end of the tour, so it’ll be fun.

Cousin Lee and Margaret are in town, so we’ll see them today or tomorrow. They moved to North Carolina to be near their kids and grandkids about a year ago.

That’s it, time to get moving and head out to the gym. Make it a great day, and you know, God Bless!

Sore neck

Man is my neck sore. Didn’t sleep that well. You’d think it was from working out, but noooo, it was from lifting Lori’s flower baskets. I took them down yesterday from their hanging chains, so they could get a full day of sun. Then at night, they went back up. This entailed lifting the 40 pound or so baskets above my head and hooking them on a chain where they hang in front of the house. It’s not the 40 pounds that gets me, it’s having to look straight up and bend my neck back to see where the hook goes into the chain. Won’t do that again.

Warming up today. It was warm on and off yesterday. I have calls at 9:30 and 10:30 this morning. Then just work around here for the day. Ty is going rock climbing today with the guys and Ava leaves today for her internship.

6:20 now so time for the gym. Have a great Thursday and God Bless.

Here we go

Getting warm. Denver looks like 90 degrees for the foreseeable future. Should be in the low 80’s up here. The snow is almost all gone on the hills out the living room windows. Soon everyone will be saying it’s too hot!

Lori is in Frisco today. I have an 8 am call and then will be around the house. Might go hit some golf balls. At the last minute yesterday, I ran down to Denver to the warehouse to save myself a trip today. Ty works at 7 this morning.

We have our Madrid trip booked and on hold waiting for our miles to pool. We might add a couple days to the front of the trip in Lisbon if the flights are available in a couple of days when our miles are available. They have to process into our “pool” so we can then use them together. I have 433,000 miles and Lori has 270,000. Each ticket is 330,000 to get First Class so we needed to combine them as Lori didn’t have enough on her own. We’ll leave either the 5th or 8th of July.

That’s it for today, time for coffee. Have a great day, God Bless.

Short week

Great day yesterday. The weather was great, the food was great, and of course the company was great. There were about nine of us in all, hanging out from 3ish until around 7:30. We grilled up truffle burgers, regular burgers, and duck and elk brats. Lori’s German Chocolate cake and homemade ice cream were a big hit of course. Everyone was full by the end of the day.

Today we’re back at it. Lori is in Edwards and then Frisco tomorrow. Four workdays left in the month with a bunch of orders to get in.

Looks like a nice warm week. We left the hanging baskets out last night. Hope we’re done with freezing overnight temps. We’re all ready for the warm weather. In about a week, everyone will be saying how hot it is, ha.

That’s it, time to get moving. Ty needs his shoes and a belt dropped at work. He was at Madi’s last night and forgot to take them. Ava leaves in a few days for her internship. She’s gone around 8 weeks.

Have a great Tuesday, be safe and live life! God Bless.

Memorial Day

Freedom isn’t free! On no day is that more evident than today. I was thinking, everyone says Happy Memorial Day. While it’s a day of remembering those who gave their lives, what’s so happy about it? Today it’s actually sad that all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, have to now look down from heaven and see the freedoms they died for, being stripped away by a power hungry, misguided government. Just a thought. I guess it is happy that we celebrate and remember them.

Today we’re having a few people over for burgers, homemade onion rings, fresh corn salad, homemade German Chocolate cake and of course, homemade ice cream.

Ty’s going golfing in Denver. Think he has a morning tee time. Jag, Ava and some friends went fishing again yesterday, and Lori and I went to the nursery for some more flowers, the grocery store twice, and Costco. Of course, earlier we went to the gym.

Ty just strolled in. He stayed at his buddy’s last night and is taking a couple hour nap before going to golf. 6:30am now so time to get moving. Have a great Memorial Day and thanks to all those who fought and died for our freedom. God Bless.

Stormin

Last night we had some wind and rain that would have made you think you were out on the ocean somewhere. Winds were probably 30 to 40 miles an hour with sideways rain. This morning, everything is super green from all the moisture. We have some clouds, but the blue sky is shining through. The storms we get here head east and turn into tornados once they hit the flat plains and warmer weather. Not good for those in the Midwest.

Ty went to the memorial service yesterday for Aiden, and then a bunch of friends hung out for the day. He was home late, but up and out early for work at 7. I filled the bird feeders again this morning. We have a few new goshawk’s, which are black, white, and orange. Really pretty birds. Lots of bears out this year too. None up here, knock on wood. They tend to be in the more wooded areas, like places with big trees and cover.

Lori made a French tea cake with infused orange zest. It was really good, like something from Europe. I think we’ll put it out with chocolate fondue tomorrow. We bought a new fondue pot yesterday as ours blew up when Jag was up here, and it was warming up on sterno with nothing in it. Note to all, make sure something is in your fondue pot before heating it up.

Looks like Lori and I are headed to Spain and Portugal mid-July to hook up with James and the band for the two shows in Madrid. A couple of other couples will go with us. We were going to take the boys, but Jag can’t go, so we’ll do another trip with both boys. Ty was going to go with us, but it probably wouldn’t be much fun for him with six adults. More on this in a few days. I pooled our miles, so we have over 700,000 between Lori and me. Need to make sure we’re flying First Class as we can’t go coach.

That’s it, time to get moving and grooving. Have a great Sunday and GB.

The Weekend

Finally Memorial Day weekend is here. 3 days of relaxation. The house is clean, there’s food in the fridge and the weather looks pretty good.

Yesterday I ran over to Frisco to get some groceries and then made a run to Kellie’s to pick up four dozen fresh eggs and a loaf of freshly baked bread. Ty came home but then went to Ryker’s for his birthday. He lives in Edwards so Ty spent the night there so he can just go straight to work this morning. He also has a memorial service today for his friend Aiden who passed away from overdosing on Xanex. I didn’t even know you could od on that! So sad. He was a good kid.

Jag and Ava went fly fishing yesterday. They went to a river somewhere up by Longmont.

Jag says Ava has a little issue with fish, so she conquered that fear yesterday! Nice fish for his first-time fly fishing! I guess it was pretty windy, so they didn’t stay too long. Really glad I went down to Boulder and got him all set up. I had an extra rod and waders for him, but he needed some wading boots and a few essentials. Fly fishing is therapeutic in a sort of a Zen way.

Lori and I will head out to the gym this morning, surprise, surprise. It’s 6:30 am now as we pretty much get up at 5:30 or so every day. I talked to Robi yesterday and they’re going to their friends for a bbq on Monday. We’re doing burgers.

Lori went and hung out with Addy, Eleni and Jennifer yesterday afternoon for 3 hours or so. Good girl time. I met up with Clark and Mark and hung out for a bit after picking up my eggs from Kellie.

We have tons of birds out back. They can go through a half of a large bag of bird seed a day! Good for them.

That’s it, have a great Saturday and three-day weekend. God Bless.
