Oh to be in college again, just to have the energy the boys do if nothing else! We left early and were down in Boulder by a bit after 11. Just in time to get into all the football game traffic. We had a blast with the boys all day and finally made it home late at night. They of course continued on with the festivities of the weekend I’m sure long after we were asleep. We really did raise two good boys. I think they’re both coming up next weekend with friends to carve pumpkins.

We slept in today until about 7:30. Dixie was confused and scared last night so we had to talk her off the ledge last night. We’ll go see her today.

No mice in the garage for over a week even though we have six traps set so we must have wiped them out. Let’s hope so. I’m headed to the gym and then will do some work downstairs. Then it’s football for the day. Hope everyone is well, have a great Sunday, God Bless.

This morning we’re off to meet the boys in Boulder. Ty went up yesterday and is staying until tomorrow. We’re glad the boys are hanging out together. Ty might try to transfer to CU Boulder, we’ll see.

We should be on the road by 9 at the latest. Yesterday I did some work around here and ran some errands. Had to go to Fed Ex and I also hit the gym for back and shoulders. Hard to believe it’s already October 15th. That means there’s about 75 days left in the year. Doesn’t sound like a long time.

Looking forward to the cool weather. There’s still some pollen around or something that triggers our allergies. I’m ok with no snow for a while. Once it arrives, it’s going to be here for 4 months or so. I did get a new shovel though, so I have that going for me.

It’s starting to get cooler up here. They say it’ll be dry for at least the next 10 days though so no snow yet. We did have a freeze warning last night so Lori had me bring in a few of her outside plants. Looks like a nationwide Adderall shortage, uh oh. They say it’ll be a few months before supplies are back up. That means a bunch of crazy kids will be out there, hmm.

Ty went to a concert at Red Rocks last night with some girls. He’s headed to Boulder today to spend the weekend with Jagger. We’ll be down tomorrow for Parents Weekend. So proud of both boys. They’re really good young men and doing well. Wish Mom was around to see them.

Christmas ads are already on tv and of course Tommy has already been Christmas shopping! I bought each of the boys a Rolling Stones collectable album set but that’s it so far. Tommy always gets a jump on Christmas, ha.

Lori is doing well and went to see Dixie yesterday. Dixie is doing as well as can be expected. It’s now normal for her to think she was with her mom or sister or needs to go to the farm. We don’t correct her anymore but rather just go with it.

Guess I’ll get moving. I hope Lori sleeps in a bit as she needs some rest. She’s been sleeping sitting up at a 45-degree angle and can start sleeping back in our room tonight. Hard to get a good night’s rest sleeping that way.

We’re off this morning to see the doctor for Lori’s post-op appointment and then will meet up with Ty for a bit and then meet up with Jagger. This weekend is Parents Weekend at CU so we’ll be headed back down Saturday. Ty is going to come up to Boulder too.

Yesterday as I said, my trip to Grand Junction was scrapped due to a crash in the canyon that closed it for the morning. We had the sprinklers blown out in the morning and the house cleaners came in the afternoon. They were scheduled for noon but Biden’s motorcade jammed up the roads with a huge traffic jam as they block all the roads off, so no one eggs his car, ha.

Now get this, Biden went to Camp Hale to declare it as a national monument which is fine but while there, declared 225,000 acres off limits to drilling and mining. The funny thing is these 225,000 acres hadn’t been drilled or mined for decades as there is nothing there and no one wants to drill or mine. Still, he did it so our embattled Democratic Senator can declare a victory before the mid-terms. The funny thing though was his latest gaff where he said in his speech that his son Beau was killed in action in Iraq! Now if you’ve paid attention at all over the years, you know Beau died of cancer here in the States. There’s an entire montage out there showing Biden’s gaffs, which are really lies, going back 50 years! If they didn’t go back 50 years, you could call them gaffs due to dementia which is bad enough, but they’re flat out lies. The media yesterday said they’re just, and I quote, “folksy”. Man could you imagine if it was a Republican or if it was Trump! They would lose their minds. But for Joe, it’s folksy, Good God. The two veterans that were there that were over 100 years old, seemed more together than Joe. Hmmm.

I could go on and on with the hypocrisy and stupidity out there these days. How about on the day Pfizer admits in Court that they never tested the vaccine to see if it prevented transmission of covid, the CDC authorized the shot for kids under 5! WOW. I’ll stop now but the takeaway once again is to think for yourself! Don’t believe everything you’re told, no matter who the messenger.

I’m going to try to get off my soapbox on politics and the state of things but it’s so overwhelming bad and unbelievable these days.

Today is the 82nd anniversary of when Uncle CB was shot and killed in the line of duty. He was a spitting image of dad and was the first Sherriff in Jefferson County Colorado killed in the line of duty. Here’s some more,

Clarence Bunch Fugate

1887 to 1940

Killed in the line of duty October 12, 1940, in Arvada, Colorado.

Undersheriff Fugate went to Lee’s Tavern in Arvada with intentions of arresting Jack Carleton, the bartender, who earlier in the evening shot a man in the bar for flirting with his wife. Fugate was accompanied by two deputy sheriffs, who stood by the doorway while the undersheriff entered the empty tavern and confronted Carleton.

During an interview relating to the location of Carleton’s gun, the suspect told Fugate that his gun was in the kitchen. Fugate searched the kitchen briefly, found no gun, and returned to the bar where Carleton was waiting. Without warning, Carleton opened fire on Fugate, killing the undersheriff. The two deputy sheriffs returned fire on Carleton, wounding him five times before taking him into custody. Carleton recovered from his wounds and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The Sherriff’s Department honors Uncle CB every year with a ceremony and has a statue of him in the Police Academy. There’s a brotherhood of law enforcement and they never forget to reach out to me to invite me to the annual ceremony. One of these years I need to go.

In keeping with that spirt of brotherhood, my friend who is the Sherriff up here in Eagle County always texts me each year with condolences. Even he, 200 miles away, honors Uncle CB and his service. We’re proud of Uncle CB and of Dad as one thing all the Fugate men had in common was that they served the public in one way or another. The World was definitely a better place having these men part of it, RIP Uncle CB and Dad.

Today we’re having our sprinklers blown out then I think I’m headed to Grand Junction. Tomorrow we’re in Denver for Lori’s post op appointment. We’ll go see Ty after we’re done to drop off his new debit card. I think Jagger might meet us to get his Halloween costume.

Democrats are losing it. Lies are everywhere. You don’t know what to believe anymore so really it all comes down to you asking yourself if you like the direction of the Country or not. Obviously no one does. Inflation, crime, illegal immigration and more are out of control. It’s so funny to see all these democrats say how they disagree with everything Biden says and does yet every single one of them voted for all of Biden’s programs. Watch what they do, not what they say!

Hockey starts tonight! Last year we really became hockey fans. Poor Tommy as I keep calling him asking him questions about the rules during the games. I’m getting better though with each game. Go Av’s!

Last, I had my annual check-up yesterday. I always go to the cardiologist up here instead of just some general doctor as he does a quick EKG also. Always need to take care of your heart. Happy to report he says I’m as fit as a 20-year-old. Yet, people still ask me if I need help? Man that drives me crazy. Yesterday an older lady who works at the hospital, one of those helper people, asked me if I needed help with my bags as I was carrying some wine in for the doctor and his staff. Hell, I could have carried her along with the wine and not broke a sweat, must be my grey hair.

Update! There’s a semi-truck fire in the Canyon closing I-70 in both directions so I won’t be headed to Grand Junction after all, ugh.

These days all you see is non-stop political ads on tv. The good news is there are so many of them, most people now just tune them out. I read an article yesterday saying over 90% of them are not 100% true. No surprise there.

Let’s see, Denver now leads the nation in package thefts, like from your front door, as well as car thefts, nice. Crime everywhere is on the increase due to a number of factors but one of the largest is the new relaxed law enforcement policies of Blue States. It’s no coincidence that crime is the highest in Dem run States. Facts are facts. Crime is so bad in some democratic States that they have refused to report their statistics to the FBI for the year. Again, no surprise there.

Looks like the railroad strike might be back on. I predicted this a month ago. I did think they’d suppress this until after the mid-terms as this would be really bad news for the Dems. The only thing worse would be an actual strike before November 8th. Again, no surprise here.

Now to the family, Boys are well. Ty has some big mid-terms this week. Jag had his last week. Lori is doing well but it’s going to take a few weeks to get her back to normal. I have a doctor appointment around 11:30 for a wellness check to get cleared for my 5-year colonoscopy at the end of the month, fun. Actually, it’s not bad at all.

Almost mid-October and 3 weeks to Halloween. Nice Fall weather outside these days. Maybe a little moisture this week with snow high above 10,000 feet. It’s Columbus Day today but is now called Indigenous People Day. Not sure if it’s officially changed to that or not but I still call it Columbus Day. But then again, I still call the football team in Washington D.C. the Redskins, not the Commanders. What a mess. Looks like Mt. Evans, Colorado’s highest peak is also changing its name. People think they can rewrite history but no matter how hard you try, the past is the past.

The boys are well. Ty was with Jagger yesterday and I went to Marty’s for a bit. He’s headed to Annapolis at the end of the week to meet Mel where she’s giving a seminar and then they’re going to a sailboat show. Lori is doing well but still recuperating. Dr. B is gone all week, so she has the week to get all better.

Good football this weekend and we have a good game tonight. The moon has been full lately and it shines in our bedroom around 3am in the morning. It’s the Hunters Moon. Should be gone in a few days.

This week it’ll be much cooler, down low and up here. We’re down Thursday for Lori’s post-op appointment and will probably see or hit snow on the pass. Won’t be long now.

Yesterday I worked around the house a bit after going to the gym. I’m off to the gym again this morning and then might drive over to Glenwood to pick up a case of ghee and some extra bags of pet food for Harley. We’ll see how the day goes. Lots of football on.

Yesterday morning I headed to Glenwood to get my new tires put on the truck. Tires that come on new vehicles are usually pretty cheap, so manufacturers save money. With winter coming, and 25,000 miles on the current tires, I decided to get new ones. Tires are not cheap these days, $2300 for a set of 4 installed. I bought the Toyo AT 3’s which are the best ones out there. Ty was super excited and had me send him a picture. Next up is to get some snow tires on Lori’s Porsche.

Ty went to Fort Collins yesterday and spent the night with friends and today is headed to Boulder to stay with Jagger. He’s on a mini tour around the State to see friends. He went with his buddy Ryker from up here.

There’s a new pack of wolves in Colorado. 18 calves were found dead in Meeker. Thanks to all the environmentalists in Boulder and Denver that voted for their reintroduction! I’m sure the ranchers are happy. Too bad we can’t have those wolves go live next door to the people that voted to have them here and let them play with their dogs and cats. Another example of stupid decisions by one group of people that don’t have to live with the consequences. If I was a rancher, and my calves were getting killed, wolves would mysteriously begin to disappear. Wolves are the only animals that kill just to kill. They’ll kill more than they can eat and just leave the carcasses.

I organized our pantry yesterday and continued to get ready for winter. More of the same today. Lori is doing fine recuperating. I’m off to the gym this morning as I didn’t make it yesterday as planned. She’s been sleeping up in Jagger’s room as she has to sleep sitting up for a week. Oh, in the afternoon I went to Kellie’s, and picked up 10 dozen eggs. We also had the company that installed solar panels on the new house down the street come up and measure us for a system. I hope to put it in along with an inverter and batteries that will store power so if the power goes out, I can keep the house running. We’ll also of course cut our power bill a bunch. I need to analyze the numbers though to make sure they work as if I don’t break even in 5 years or less, it’s not worth it. Then I’ll just get a generator instead.

Ok, Biden is telling all of us nuclear war is possible and other crap trying to distract from his failures but the real failure of the day was our Denver Broncos losing to the Indianapolis Colts. Again, poor coaching. I won’t go into as I’m so frustrated, but it was flat out embarrassing.

We made it to Denver on time for Lori’s surgery and were home by 5. She’s doing well and taking it easy. She’ll be fine in a few days.

I’m off to Glenwood at 10:30 to get new tires put on the truck. Then the rest of the day will be spent organizing some supplies and continuing to get ready for winter. I’m going to head to the gym first. It’s cool up here with snow on the peaks. It’s slowly working its way down in altitude each day. Driving by the ski areas, they’re all making snow.

In Vegas, a guy went on a stabbing spree killing two and injuring about 6, right in the middle of the day, on the Vegas strip. Unbelievable. It was unprovoked and the guy is a Hispanic male in his mid 30’s and odds are he’s an illegal. I was visiting with a buddy yesterday who is a Viet Nam Vet and Purple Heart winner, who lost a leg over there. Randy owns the largest high end tactical rifle shop in the Country. He sells mostly to police departments and some military groups that can afford their own gear better than what the government supplies. We were reminiscing about how things were when we grew up and how they’ve changed. Randy, who is disabled, and probably a few years older than me, said he now doesn’t go to the bathroom without a gun! I understand his point as when I’m anywhere, but especially in Denver, my head is on a swivel, and I’m always armed. So sad that this is where we are as a Country, but it is what it is. On top of it, things will get worse before they get better.
