A Year of Change

Off to the farm this morning. Should be in and out by 10 putting me home before noon. With luck I’ll beat most of the heat. I have the garage door open a bit and the door to the dog run, trying to get a cross wind to cool down the garage. It’s been in the low 90’s which is hot for us. I think it’s been more like 100 in Denver and I know it’s been at least that in Grand Junction.

James landed about 2;30 yesterday from a wedding in Georgia for Bobby, his longtime PT guy that travels with him. Bobby’s a great guy, I’ve known him for a few years. We hung out for a couple hours and then at 5, Lori, Jag and I went to the gym. We were home around 7. Ty slept most of the day as he had a late night the night before last with Will and his friends. I don’t remember being able to stay up like kids do these days. We had the occasional late night but never night after night.

Lori is working half-day and Ty works at 2. Jag works around 1. Lots of crap going on these days. Personally, I think the lax enforcement of crime, increases crime. Thank God a good Samaritan, as the police and local Indiana news are calling him, stopped a bad guy with a gun at a shopping mall in Indiana the other day. He took out his gun and shot a guy that shot some people and was going to shoot a bunch of people. Now the left is going crazy saying he’s not a “good Samaritan” trying to define the word literally saying anyone that kills anyone, even a murderer, can’t be a good Samaritan. Wow, that’s all they have? People’s lives were saved by a good guy with a gun and they can’t handle it. They’re so wrapped up being anti-gun that they’d rather have had more people shot than this guy, who is a hero, saving countless lives. The Mayor, Police Chief and others in the town are praising the good guy and the liberal media is going nuts. For us, a gun in the hand is better than a whole police force on the phone!

Almost 6am and I need to be on the road in 20 minutes or so, so time to go. make it a great day and God Bless and please be safe.

5:45 am, I’m a bit more tired than usual. Jag and I are headed to the gym while Lori is off to Glenwood to get her hair done. I have a conference call at 9. Jag made it home from Boulder around 3 yesterday afternoon.

James is flying back from a wedding in Georgia today and stopping by to pick up one of my guitars to work on it for me. We’re getting ready to book our hunting trip in Alaska for September 2023.

We had Dixie up for dinner. After 7 years of never calling, except at Christmas and on her birthday, Lori’s step sister Kathy is now calling Dixie on Sundays. So far it’s been two weeks in a row. She has to have some angle, which is probably money. Money makes people funny.

Hot in Denver today, 100 plus. Almost 6am so I’d better get Jag up. Have a great week, God Bless.

Nice outside, super sunny. It’s 7:30 which is late for us. Last night we had a nice dinner with our neighbors on each side of us. K.C. and Shannon are the next house up the street and Brian and Michelle are the second house down. K.C.’s family has been here forever. All his brothers worked at various ski areas including Loveland back in the 70’s when I was a 16 year old ski instructor. His brothers were older than me but ran the lifts and rental shop and did other jobs. Brian and Michelle are from Pennsylvania. Both are hunters so we all get along well.

Ty went to some Global Dance Festival in Denver at Mile High Stadium which is our football stadium. It’s called Empower Field now but I still call it Mile High. Everyone had tickets from a couple years ago, but it was cancelled due to the vid. It ended around 11:30 pm and we told him to stay in Edwards rather than drive all the way home. Jag will be coming up from Boulder today.

I had to run to Costco and then Kellie’s for 5 dozen eggs so I stopped by the fairgrounds where they have the Adventure Van Expo going on this weekend. Pretty cool. When we were kids, an adventure van was just a Ford Econoline van with a foam bed in the back. Now they have them all tricked out. Would be great to be 20 something, get one, and travel the West.

I made it to Denver, had a good meeting, dropped wine at Tina’s, went to the bank and then stopped by Tommy’s and then quickly at my 85 year old friend, Dick Gander’s house, all before 11am. On the way out of town I picked up Ty some Teriyaki and made one more stop in Frisco for some groceries. I was planning on going to Jag’s in Boulder, but he had class until 12;45 and needed more time to clean so we’re going down mid-week to finish things up at the apartment. Today he has to hang out for Comcast to show up to hook up the internet.

Lori was home working away. Ty was here when I made it home before going out to hang with friends. First up today is the gym and then tonight we’re going to dinner two houses down at Brian and Michelle’s. Jag is coming back up tomorrow.

I was shocked as Whole Foods in Frisco had virtually no lettuce of any kind and no milk. Various other shelves had bare spots too. Can’t stress enough to stock up on what you use on a regular basis now. If you need any new winter coats or boots or gloves, I’d get them now, before they’re gone.

Tom’s down about 30 pounds and looks good. Keep it going! It was hot down there but nice up here with temps in the mid to high 80’s. Time to get moving. Make it a great day, God Bless.

Aspen was nice as usual. There’s a reason 5% or so of the World’s billionaires live there. Before my haircut I stopped at Billie and Greg’s to pick up Ty’s graduation announcement we left there on July 4th. Then after a quick haircut I headed up to Rollie’s to visit her. Her house is fantastic. They found it for $6.2 Million, put in $2 Million and it’s now worth over $20 Million! Nice return. Rollie is our friend who just had uterine cancer but seems to have kicked it. She said 70% of patients get it again but she’s determined to not join that group.

I made it home by 1 or so and then went to the gym. As soon as I made it to workout, Rollie texted saying she just got a call from Billie and that they had flown Greg to the hospital in Denver. Earlier in the morning Billie and I were talking about how he was doing as he has prostate cancer on top of his Parkinson’s. She told me he keeps saying he doesn’t want to die but the doctors told her his body is just giving out. I told her, let’s have a birthday party for him next weekend even though his birthday is in November. She loved that idea. I texted her but haven’t heard back. We’re afraid he didn’t make it through the night. You may recall, Greg was the first attorney or person to have $1 trillion dollars’ worth of securities under him. Hope he’s ok but I have my doubts.

Jag headed to Boulder last night and will be cleaning this morning. After my 9am sales meeting and dropping wine at Tina’s, I’ll head up to help him move his last few things. So, long day for me. It’s 5:20am now so time to go. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Fun holiday in France today. Lori and I remember a great Bastille Day party we went to with the kids probably around 10 years ago in Basalt. This morning I’m off to Aspen for a haircut, Lori and Jag are leaving for the gym in 10 minutes and I think Ty works at 1:30. Yesterday Dixie was on a train for most all of the day. Of course this was all in her mind. I drove by her place and even honked my horn at her and she heard me but still insisted she was on a train. When I asked her where she went or was going, she wasn’t sure, ha. Oh to be old. At least she’s in a safe place with great caretakers and less than 5 minutes from us. We talk to her multiple times each day and one of us sees her at least 6 out of 7 days a week. Could be a whole lot worse. She’s happy too even though she thinks she’s somewhere else almost daily. No harm, no foul.

I was in Frisco yesterday and hung out with Marty for a while before going to the grocery store. I also hit Murdoch’s for a few things while over there. We had a nice refreshing afternoon thunderstorm. Lori made it home close to 7. Ty took a nice bike ride after work and Jag went to the gym. we live in mountain biking heaven with endless trails everywhere right out the door.

Time to get moving. Both Biden and Harris had gaffe’s again yesterday. It’s so common these days we’re starting to get conditioned to it. In Israel he said, “we need to continue to honor the holocaust”! Oh my God! What he should have said was “remember the horror of the holocaust”. The guys can’t even read stuff on the teleprompter and spit it out correctly anymore. WOW! God help us.

Lori’s is off over the pass today as twice a month she works in Frisco. Yesterday I cleaned my closet! Took me a good 4 hours. I purged all clothes that I don’t wear or don’t fit. I have lots of jeans that are too tight in the thighs from working out. Guess I need to stop buying slim leg jeans. The boys are thrilled as they get to go through all my clothes and take what they want. Of course they were fighting over them last night. Today I’ll get after something else. Not sure what yet.

Lots of building going on around us. There must be almost 10 houses going up in the neighborhood. Lori had a team building dinner at Matsu last night. Despite her best efforts, her team just isn’t that fun, ha. Think I’ll head over to Murdoch’s today to pick up some things I need for around the house. I’ll hit the grocery store too while there.

Jag and I worked out yesterday morning. I might go do a couple miles on the treadmill for cardio but need to take a break from weights. You have to let your muscles recoup as if you continuously just tear them down, they don’t get a chance to repair themselves which is how you gain muscle.

Guess there’s a surge in covid. Thought that was gone. Thought we were on to Monkeypox. The White House is pushing boosters for all even though this is the sixth variant. So they want you to get a shot they said works for the original or at best, second or third version of covid for the new variant they don’t even know about. These people need to be held accountable. Personally I don’t think people should get any more shots. I don’t know anyone, including medical workers, that plan on getting additional jabs. It seems they just don’t know what they’re talking about. What happened to that pill? Pfizer did just get $3.2 Billion from the govt. yesterday for their failed vaccine. Get ready though as the Dems will push some form of mail in voting around election time and blame it on some pandemic so they can try to steal some elections. Do you see a pattern yet? Yesterday afternoon Marty and I went over to James. He had a long trip with a lot of surprises. It was a good trip but eight people including one of the guys in the band, caught covid. Funny fact, all eight that tested positive were people that wore masks and were boosted. One show in France had 88,000 people outside. James said there were people as far as you could see. The best thing about the trip were the places they stayed. A little town in the South of France called Barritz right on the coast and a cool little town outside of Lisbon Portugal that I forget the name of. The best thing though was making it home and waking up in his own bed. He’s in California next week for vocals. Next month we go hunting in Idaho. We’re all excited.

Ty went camping again last night with his group of friends. He works the afternoon shift today. Jag is going to the gym with me at 7 and Lori is in Vail for the day. Weather is nice with lots of sun. About now the early summer rainstorms start to stop. Then it’s bring on the heat until Fall. It’s been a good wet month and a half which is great. No fires around us, knock on wood.

A public service warning, a major large company in the Midwest told all its employees to go out and buy any and everything they need right now. They’re forecasting bad food shortages as well as out of stocks on all kinds of essentials. Don’t be lulled into sleep. The worst is yet to come. Thank Bozo.

Yesterday we moved most all of the big furniture from Jag’s place to his new place. The new place is a nice little apartment in a complex of about 10 or 20 buildings. It’s an older place with lots of grass courtyards and individual entrances for each unit. There seems to be a mix of family’s, students, and other people in the place. The A/C works really well too which wasn’t the case at the other place. Plus it doesn’t smell! The old building had this stench to it in the hallways that was not good. It’s a bit farther from school, maybe a 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile but will be a much better place for him. We made it home around 3pm.

The nights are perfect up here. We sleep with the window open which lets in the perfect amount of cool air. Looks nice outside now. Ty went to his buddies and will be home this morning. Lori has something like 27 surgeries to schedule so she’ll be busy most of the day. Her and the team are going to Matsu tonight with Dr. B for dinner.

Time for me to get moving. I’m off to the gym for a 7am workout. This week I’m in Aspen Thursday and Denver Friday. Might try to get down to the farm also. Make it a great week, GB.

5:20am, one cup of coffee down, time to get moving. Jag went down to Boulder last night to start packing and Lori, Ty and I will leave in 45 minutes or so. We don’t have a lot to move, but there are a few large things we need the truck for. We have his bed, desk, futon, tv stand and tv to move. The rest is stuff like clothes, kitchen stuff, and other personal items. I set up the power two days ago and Comcast yesterday. Hopefully we’ll be there before 9 and done by noon.

Yesterday we went to the gym of course. When we walked in, one of Brent’s little bulldogs ran across the room as he usually does, but this time bit me on my shin! WTF? Not that big of a deal, but again, WTF? After working out we picked up a box of veggies from the restaurant that brought them back from the farm for me so we could take pictures of them. Then we headed home.

James texted from Newark around noon on the way home from Portugal. Around 6 or 7 last night he texted again saying the flight from Denver to Eagle was cancelled and he had to get a driver, ugh. 20 hours of travel and they cancel the last 20 minute flight.

Ty hung out at home last night. It’ll be good to have his help today as we moved in by ourselves. Jag’s roommate left the place a mess. I mean really a mess! After we’re out I’m texting pictures to her mom as Jag already cleaned it once. It’s beyond describable.
