A Year of Change

It’s Sunday but feels like a Monday. At 10 we need to hit the road and head down to Boulder for Lori’s team building dinner and then her robot training tomorrow. I think after Jag and I have dinner, I’ll drive home. The weather is going to turn tomorrow with snow up here in the morning. We could get up to 6 inches by Thursday, ugh. Lori will ride back with Dr. Braxton tomorrow afternoon.

Dinner was fun. Earlier in the morning Andrew was hit by a skier from behind and in the ER for a CT scan and MRI. His neck is sore, and Dr. Braxton will see him on Tuesday. James and I hung out for a couple hours in the afternoon.

Ty went to some DJ show in Denver at the Mission Ballroom. He made it back to Edwards around 3:15 am and will be home around 10 this morning. Lori and I didn’t get much sleep and are headed to the gym at 6:30 so she can workout with Rod who is the owner of our gym and super hard to get an appointment with. Then we’ll come home and get ready to head to Boulder.

Tonight friends are coming for dinner so today we’re cleaning, ugh. Ty was going to Boulder but I think is now going next weekend. Snow Monday, ugh. Cold most of next week. Hope it holds off until Lori gets back up Monday. I’m going to leave early Monday morning but she’ll be heading up in the afternoon.

James leaves tomorrow morning. We hung out a bit yesterday and are having lunch today. He heads to California for practice Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before the show on Thursday in Vegas. We’re working on a restaurant deal together. Super cool if it comes together but we’ll see. We have a cool hunt on March 7th and are staying at The Brown Palace the night before. We have a dinner on the 8th with a guy helping with our deal.

Ty was out until midnight and has about 20 loads of laundry to do. Still jumping through hoops to wrap up the re-fi. Too many details to explain. Harley threw up some rubber basketball this morning as she pops them and then eats them. Kind of her thing. She loves to play ball.

Think I’ll head out to the gym and get the day moving. Lori made cheesecake but I’m off most dairy and sugar. Down 7 pounds since Super Bowl. Not that hard, just need to make up your mind and stick to it. Every person is different, so you need to find out what works for you. Oh well, just doing my thing.

Watch for war in Ukraine. We need to step back and butt out, but we won’t. Not going to get into it but hope it doesn’t happen. Have a great weekend, God Bless.

Next week it’s going to be cold but this weekend, sun and fun! Andrew and Amanda, friends and a coworker of Lori’s, (Amanda is head of Vail Health Hospital) are coming for dinner tomorrow night. Sunday Lori and I are off to Boulder as she has a team building dinner Sunday night and then surgical robot training Monday morning. Jag and I are going for a sushi dinner Sunday night and Ty will stay home with Harley. Tommy, you should drive up and join us! At the end of next week Lori is in Sacramento, and I think on Wednesday we close on our refi. We were headed to Gunnison to visit Western State Tuesday, but the forecast is for big time cold and some snow. So that’s what’s coming up in the near future.

I’m of to the gym in 20 minutes while Lori sleeps in. She’s working so hard and so long these days she needs the rest. Ty and Jag are too. At cigar night last night all seven guys were lamenting how messed up the Country is due to the Dems. Three democratic school board members were recalled in San Francisco. Of course, they’re blaming right wing terrorists even though the district is 86% registered democrats and even though all three lost by 76% of the vote or more. I don’t know about you, but you don’t have to be math major to know those numbers don’t add up. Then you had Hillary basically blaming her getting caught spying on Trump as a right-wing conspiracy too. See a pattern here? Everything wrong the Dems do is the fault of anyone who is not a democrat and then labeled a right-wing terrorist. In Canada, Trudeau called a Jewish member of Parliament a Nazi who embraced swastikas as she supports freedom of choice when it comes to vaccine mandates, wow. He’s done, mark my words. So as you see, the World is still fucked up, but freedom is raising its head like a Phoenix. People are fed up and are through being told what to do while the elites make their own rules for themselves. It’s not over, it will get worse before it gets better but we’re on the right track. It did snow yesterday but it wasn’t much. It was more of a rain snow mix so the roads are pretty icy. Today it’ll warm up and turn nice. I was on the phone for a good six hours yesterday if not more. Today I have maybe an hours’ worth of calls. Lori is working from home.

James invited me to go see Jim Gaffigan the comedian last night, but I just wasn’t up to it, too tired after the day. He bought four tickets at the last minute. We’ll hang tonight as it’s Thursday.

Big snow and a big mess in Denver yesterday. Lori and I are going to the gym this morning before my call at 10. 6:09 am now so time to get moving, God Bless.

Hoping for only a couple inches here at the house but Denver and Boulder look like they’re in for another good blast. It’s getting old. Seems like more snow this year than normal even though it’s not. Maybe it’s the cold temps that have hung around.

Ty has late start, Lori is working in Vail and I have a conference call at 10. Decided to pass on a new truck for Jagger right now. Sure would like to get down to some sun in Arizona. Maybe in March, for sure in April.

The U.S. or Biden is pushing war. Russia and others are not but we seem determined to try to stir the pot. Not sure why we are even involved in Ukraine. None of our business. Europe needs to handle their own shit. The big news is the trucker protest in Canada. The govt. up there is trying to paint the truckers and anyone who support them as terrorists and even Nazi’s. Won’t work. In fact, Canada could be the beginning of the end for the so-called elites. Invoking the Emergency War Powers Act against its own citizens is a step too far. This will for sure backfire. Keep an eye on this as the majority of the Country is fed up with the mandates and power grab of the government. Interesting times, hang in there and God Bless.

In less than 2 weeks, it’ll be March. A wet muddy month down below. That’s a famous line by Will Geer in Jeramiah Johnson to Robert Reford when the later asked if he knew what month it was. Snow coming tomorrow though. I think a bit more in Denver than up here. We’re looking forward to warmer temperatures and more sun.

Ty had lacrosse last night and outdoor practices start on the field in two weeks. Jag is doing well and was at the grocery store when we spoke yesterday. The Chevy dealer has offered us about $5,000 more for his car than it’s worth so we might get him a new truck like Ty’s. We’ll see. I need our re-fi to get wrapped up before I do anything.

Uh oh, looks like Hillary wire tapped Trump in his office building, home and even the White House, to make up that fake Russia narrative. She and others could go to jail over this one. Wouldn’t that be fun. Even Dems want her investigated. Whether you liked Trump or not, this is third World country shit. When the Republicans get back in control, look out. Some people are already caving meaning cooperating to save their own ass. Payback’s a bitch.

Fun time and a great game. Food was great and so was our group. Cousin Lee and Margret came up too along with some of the guys. I wanted the Rams so I was happy. Now on to next year meaning free agency and the draft. Tom and my favorite time of the NFL season.

Jag had a party too. I’m sure it went well but we haven’t talked since yesterday afternoon. Ty watched the game at Riverwalk, our local movie theater.

Today I have a couple calls and I think Lori is going into the office. Ty has school at 9:30.

The news just said the IRS still hasn’t processed 24 million tax returns from last year! They’re blaming old equipment and being understaffed and saying they plan on waiving all penalties. Of course, this year we have a refund coming so we’ll probably see that in 2025! What bullshit. I’m tired of waiting on the government to do or fix anything from roads to wrapping up Mom’s estate. Man do we need term limits along with a new administration.

Last, Happy Valentine’s Day! We’re just staying home. Every restaurant is booked plus restaurant food is so hit and miss these days. Think I’ll run to Costco and pick up a pack of lobster. Only about 70-75 days until the NFL draft!

Today is the big game! I’ve already put the rub on three racks of baby back ribs and 6 giant Fred Flintstone beef ribs. Think of a short rib 8 inches long! Lori made her cheesecake last night and with meat and cheesecake, we’re good.

Yesterday we made it to Denver around 9:15. Jag showed up a couple minutes later and we left his car at the dealer and headed off for our day. We stopped at the bank, the tire place and then headed to the mall. We bought Jag some new clothes and I picked up four shirts too. Then we hit a French restaurant for lunch before stopping at Whole Foods for the aforementioned ribs. Ty went to lunch with a couple friends and we all arrived home about the same time.

Jag is having a Super Bowl party today too. Lori and I are headed to the gym in about 20 minutes for a 7:30 workout and then will head home to get to work on the party. I need to clean the smoker before firing it up for the day.

Great to see and hang out with Jagger. He looks good. We’re hoping the Rams win. Kind of hate it’s always such a late start. Wish it started around 2 instead of 4:30. Oh well, have fun, enjoy the day and the game. God Bless.

This morning we’re off to Denver. Ty is driving his truck down to get serviced and Lori and I are following him in our car. They had some snow, but it looks ok. Jag is meeting us in Golden and will go with us to lunch and shopping.

Yesterday James and I hung out in the afternoon. We’re working on a deal that’s top secret! Lori worked all day and then brought her mom up for dinner. Ty went to the senior hockey game and then was out with friends until 11:30. Tomorrow is the big game. Think I’ll smoke some ribs. Should be good.

No snow here, yea! We had a snow fence put on the roof yesterday so that’s probably why it didn’t snow. Jag’s still working out daily. He’s eating about 4400 calories a day which isn’t easy. Can’t wait to see him. Time to get moving, GB.

Looks nice outside with a clear sky with hints of pink and blue. We might get a dusting of snow but that should be all. Denver looks like it could get 4 or 5 inches. I have a conference call this morning and then that’s it for the week. Jag had a big accounting mid-term yesterday which of course we’re sure he crushed. Ty had a haircut last night and of course isn’t happy with it. What kid was ever happy with their haircut? James and I hung out for a bit as Marty drove to Denver to fly to Mexico today for a wedding before heading to the boat down in St. Thomas for a week or so. We’re planning on heading to Arizona for some sun in April.

Biden was just on tv for a few seconds. Lori commented. “there’s nobody home there”. It’s so obvious but he won’t submit to a cognitive test. Remember how they demanded Trump have one? Then silence when he aced it. Now dems are reversing course and cancelling mask mandates and get this, they’re taking credit for ending ALL mask mandates even though Biden is still pushing them, and they bashed every republican Governor that led the way. It’s so sad as after watching Dad with dementia it’s just so clear Biden suffers from the same thing. And now Hillary is jumping back into politics. Oh that’s what we need, another old has been to the rescue. Inflation hits a 40 year high and of course Biden blames the supply chain crisis. Being in the business of imports, we’ve had a supply chain crisis since March 2020! Idiots.

Time to go, crappy Olympics too. Record low viewership and just not enjoyable for us. I know Tom likes them though. Have a good weekend, go Rams, God Bless.
