A Year of Change

Yesterday we ended up getting some snow. Nothing stuck to the roads, but it was blowing on and off most of the day. Looks like more of the same on and off for the next few days. Like everything else, this too will pass. Looks like it’ll be in the 70’s by the end of next week. Denver looks sunny on the news right now.

Lori, of course, is in Frisco today. Not sure if Ty is working this morning or not, as he worked a big party last night.

Today we’ll see what tariffs we put in place. With a $1.3 trillion dollar trade deficit, bring it on. Short term pain for long term gain. I would like to see some sort of agreement on alcohol though.

I lifted really hard yesterday morning and then, of course, tweaked my back while vacuuming the stairs. Harley had a bath the other day and then she really sheds for a week or so.

No big jokes around here this morning. I remember when we were kids, this was a big day at school! Everyone tried to prank everyone. Fun times.

The news says snow today, but they said that about last night too. All we got last night was some strong winds. No worries, soon it’ll warm up and we’ll be craving cool temps. Ty works at 4 today as he’s working some big birthday party tonight.

Davy parked a car in our driveway last night. It’s Violet’s 16th birthday today. In keeping with the theme of the day, April Fools, they borrowed a junky old Ford Focus and have it in their driveway, with a big bow on it, for her 16th birthday. The real car, is a Volkswagen they leased for a couple years that’s much nicer, which is hiding in our driveway! Funny.

Jag had class last night until 9:30. He aced his econ test, getting 15 out of 16. The average for the class was 25% correct or 4 out of 16 problems solved. Jag, as usual, is way above the rest of his class. He’s been talking with a bunch of different companies that are interested in hiring him. They’re coming up for Easter.

Here we are, a third of the way through the year, hard to believe. Seems like we’re just getting going in 2025. April 1st tomorrow.

Lori is in Vail today and Ty is working. Jag has classes until around 9:30 tonight. He only has a little bit more than a month and then is done with college! That means that we, then are done paying for college! In fact, our last tuition payment of $3100 is April 5th and then we’re through, hooray! We do have to pay rent through July.

7 weeks into Trump’s presidency. He’s accomplished way more than Biden did in 4 years, and maybe done more than any President in history when it comes to changing America for the better. There are still a lot of things to fix, and there are still entrenched people in the government that have been abusing the system and stealing from taxpayers for years, trying to hang on and hide. Sooner or later all these people will be exposed. Turns out 24 organizations have been funding the Tesla violence and they’ve been paying people (mostly seniors), $400 dollars a day to show up and protest! Most of these groups have received taxpayer money (from us) to fund the violence. Can’t make this shit up. The majority of America is thrilled and cheering these people getting caught, taken down and kicked off the payroll every day. I can only imagine where we’d be if Kamala won. Our Country would not have been able to recover.

After 9 hours on the smoker, my pork shoulder was ready. It turned out great! Marty and Mel came over and had dinner with us. Leftovers will be just as good today, if not better. Lori, at 1pm, made a German Chocolate Cake to go with our meal. What a treat.

Jag and Ava should be home. I talked to them when they made it to Houston around 7:30. Ty’s teeth are still sore, which is to be expected, but he’s working away.

Nice morning up here. Looks foggy in Denver. Should be a normal Spring like week with some on and off rain and temps in the 50’s. April 1st is Tuesday, wow. Three houses on the street now for sale all over $4 million. We think a year from now the market will be much better and prices will be higher. We’re sitting tight for now.

Good old John Hickenlooper, our Senator, is bashing Trump for cutting some services that Denver was wasting a few million dollars on. Typical democrat. To be clear, .15 of 1% of Govt. jobs have been cut. If John’s so worried about a few million dollars, maybe he should talk to his buddy Polis, who just gave $34 million dollars to the Sundance Film Festival to bribe them to come to Boulder. You might remember, no one else offered more than 1 million. More illogical spending of OUR tax dollars. The State is about $1.3 billion over budget, yet we spend money on a film festival. Then we blame Trump. This is how they operate. Wow.

As soon as I’m done with the blog this morning, I’ll be firing up the smoker. I have a large pork butt that’s in the fridge covered with a BBQ rub I put on yesterday. It’ll take around 8 to 10 hours, so it should be done around 5pm.

I ended up not going to Denver after all. Ty said he could do it on his own and was going to stay and golf with his buddy. That was great news as I wasn’t looking forward to a 5 hour drive anyhow. He finished his appointment by 10 and left, heading back at 2, which is when they print all passports each day. After he and Caden (his friend), went to pick up his passport, they went golfing. He left Denver around 7 or so and hit big time snow around Georgetown. No snow up here, but it looks like it rained a little bit. Ty’s working today and was feeling like he caught a bad cold last night when he made it home. Lori says it’s withdrawals from not smoking or vaping, which he can’t do after having his teeth pulled. Wish he’d quit.

Our new mattress topper is a game changer. We love it. Jagger called yesterday to check in. They fly home at 5pm this afternoon and will land in Denver around 10:30 or 11 tonight.

Yesterday Lori ran down to Denver to get her hair done. This morning, at 7, Ty and I are running down to get his passport renewed. It hadn’t expired and was fine, until I washed it yesterday with his wallet! I was able to get a 10:30 appointment this morning so we’re going to knock it out. With luck, I’ll be back by 2. Lori is going to stay here and work.

Warmer temperatures yesterday. Maybe a little rain tomorrow and Sunday but nothing much. Lori picked up a mattress topper from our bed store in Cherry Creek. They had to make one for our size bed, but it’s like having a whole new mattress! We both slept a lot better last night. It’s made locally in Boulder and is 100% organic and made by these people that make $10,000 mattresses. We’re glad we took a shot on it.

I might grab a pork butt to smoke on the smoker when leaving Denver this morning. Thinking about having some good Mexican food this weekend. Jag and Ava fly home tomorrow. They’re having lots of fun.

We learned yesterday that Colorado, to get around the voter passed law called Tabor, which returns excess money to taxpayers, has enacted outrageous fees to steal from us, since we stopped their little increase taxes every year scheme. In 2023, the people of Colorado paid $23.3 Billion, yes Billion, in fees! That puts our effective tax rate at 14.4% which has us taking over the lead in the Country from California. They’re stealing from us through fees on any and everything you can think of, from education to license plates for our cars, to medical insurance, and even essentials to live like fees on your power bill, water bill, phone bill, etc. This is shameful as things have only gotten worse under the Dems rule. No one should be surprised though, as all you need to do is look at any Dem run city or State. When will people wake the hell up?

Record high temperatures today, maybe 80 in Denver. It was 70 up here yesterday and should hit the mid 70’s today. Ty is getting better every day. Having him home is like a second job. Every few hours he wants a milkshake or mashed potatoes or needs something. Lori and I joked, time for him to go back to Madi’s.

Lori is getting her hair done in Denver today. She’d like me to drive her so she can work, but I really don’t want to go. We’ll see, it’s 6am now. If her appointment wasn’t so late, (noon), I’d for sure take her but that time sort of crashes the whole day. It’s so unsafe down there though, I’ll probably drive her anyhow. Hold on, she just said she’ll drive herself, whew, dodged a 5-hour drive there!

I can now go to the gym. Then I’ll get some stuff done around the house. Time for some Spring cleaning. I also need to get the Christmas lights off the two trees in the front yard. They turned the sprinklers on down at the golf course yesterday. Won’t be long now.

The Administration is soldiering along, despite activist judges, handpicked by Dems, trying to stop what the Country voted for. As I said before, all they can really do is slow things down. You’d think by watching the mainstream media, that the whole Country is against Trump, Elon and everyone else, but nothing could be further from the truth. The majority of the people voted for and are still for, the massive cleanup of our out-of-control spending by our out of control, career politicians. Hang tight, things are getting better every single day.

Yesterday by 11am, Ty’s wisdom teeth were out. He did well and wasn’t in much pain when they finished. They did use a local to knock him out which was the way to go. A few hours later the pain started kicking in as the numbing was wearing off. One of the pieces of gauze’s he had in his mouth, he accidently swallowed while eating. His mouth was so numb he couldn’t tell. He tried to cough it up but ended up swallowing it. No big as it’ll come out in a day or two, ha. Hope he’s feeling better today. He needs to lay low again today.

We had a nice day for our anniversary but really didn’t do much. Lori worked until around 6 here at home, and I ran back up valley to pick up her roses and a nice plant I had made in this real cool pot.

It’ll be in the mid 70’s today which is great! I’m thinking of smoking a pork butt in the smoker this weekend, weather permitting. Jag and Ava are having a blast in Grand Caymen. Who wouldn’t, right? They’re back late Saturday night.

I renewed our Broncos season tickets yesterday. We’re excited for the upcoming year. Ty is really happy as he goes to most all of the games and loves it. Lori and I will for sure be going this year too.

This morning at 9, Ty is getting his wisdom teeth out. He’ll be done by 11am and then has the next few days off. Molly could use Ty back to work on Friday if he can, but he’s not scheduled until Saturday, just in case. He’s pretty tough though so I’m sure he’ll go back early. Lori and I were talking this morning about how when we had our teeth removed, there were no dental blocks or anesthesia, just shots of nonvaccine. Dr. Braxton was in the military and after having his pulled, he went right back to chemistry class, as he didn’t want to miss anything. Lori told him, well, you’re an overachiever!

Big news of the day is that today is our 25th anniversary! What a ride it’s been. We’ve done so much, had so many good times, had some adversity, but luckily, have always been there for each other. We really don’t fight at all. I’m so blessed to have met my soulmate as lots of people go their entire life without ever finding their perfect match. Nothing special going on today other than Ty’s teeth. Every day I’m with Lori is a special day and one I celebrate!

It was warm, albeit a bit windy yesterday. I did clean up the backyard and pull out the lawn chair getting ready for the sun. I sat out for 30 minutes or so soaking up some much-needed vitamin D. We’ll get more of that over the next few days.

We need to leave in about an hour as we have to go to Frisco for Ty’s appointment. We’re going to grab breakfast at this great place over there. I’ve been thinking about their chicken fried steak and eggs for the last 24 hours! I’ve always loved chicken fried steak. I’m down to 202 pounds which is a new low for me. I can’t remember when I weighed under 200 pounds, had to be college or maybe even high school. The difference today is I’m a lot stronger. Not sure what my ideal weight is. My body will let me know. I’m guessing I’ll end up somewhere between 190 and 195 when it’s all said and done. We’ll see.

I can remember every moment from our wedding day 25 years ago in Scottsdale. I’m sure Lori can still fit into her wedding dress, in fact, it’s probably too big on her! Not sure where my suit is or if I even have it anymore. What a perfect day it was. Can’t wait to see what the next 25 years bring, God willing!

Should be in the 60’s today and the 70’s later this week. Jag and Ava took off around 5am for Houston where they’ll grab a connecting flight to Grand Caymen until Saturday. Excited for them.

Ty is supposed to get his wisdom teeth out tomorrow, but we need to call the dentist today to make sure he needs to get them out. There seems to be some confusion as I guess they’re coming in straight and are not causing any pain or issues. Lori or I never talked with the dentist, so we just want to make sure he needs them out.

Lori is in Vail today and I have a conference call at 9. Last minute loss for CSU yesterday with 3 seconds to go, but the Nuggets without our best player, stopped Houston’s 9 game winning streak. Only about a month until the NFL draft.

Today I’m on Day 11 of OMAD or one meal a day. I think I’m going for 30 days, 30 meals, but we’ll see how my body reacts. I’m down 11 pounds but more importantly more focused, have more energy, cleaning out my liver and my good cells are eating bad cells in my body. I have a separate blog to track my progress on this. I’ll give another update at Day 15 or Day 20, or whenever I stop. It’s really not as bad as it sounds. Saving a lot on food as I’ve only eaten 10 meals in 10 days! I eat a good balanced breakfast and then am done until the next morning. I can see Robi rolling her eyes right now, ha. Lori is quite impressed with my will power though.

Harley has been limping for a few days. Think she strained a muscle playing in the backyard. We’ll keep an eye on her and take her in if she doesn’t get better. She’s not in any pain though.
