A Year of Change

It’s raining a little bit now but should turn to snow this afternoon. Not sure how much we’ll get at the house as the sweet spot seems to be around Frisco. I’m sure Vail and the Pass will get its fair share.

Last night we went down the street to the neighborhood party which was nice. The new neighbors about 5 houses down told us their cousin bought the lot next to us but isn’t building for 3 or 4 years which is great news. We knew it sold a few years ago but had no idea who bought it. We stayed for about 90 minutes and then headed home. Ty has a ride to work today so no rush by us to get out the door. He’s headed to Denver after work, weather permitting.

Tonight is the Halloween party at Addy’s. She decorated so well it looks like some professional job. Snow should be dumping by the time it starts. I’m going as a Vietnam veteran/hippey with my tie die shirt under my Vietnam era Air Force jacket. Lori is wearing her 60’s/70’s jumper. Sort of looks like she’s from the old show Laugh In. Looks great of course.

Jag is doing well, doing his thing. Guess that’s it, time to go. No need to into politics, couldn’t be worse than anyone could imagine. Have a great day and God Bless.

It’s here! Not much but enough to cover the grass. The driveway and roads are dry, but the real snow hasn’t arrived yet. That’ll be sometime later tonight or tomorrow when it hits. Could get as much as 8 inches but we’ll see. I have the house ready with everything put away for winter from outside. The real concern is the low temperatures that will arrive Monday through Wednesday night. Guess it’ll be between 5 and 10 degrees for the lows. Sounds like perfect weather for Annette. Personally, winter is my friend. I’m ok with it. Ty and Lori are not happy but Jag too is ready for a change in season.

Yesterday afternoon I went to Addy’s and James and I hung out for a couple hours. Marty made it over about an hour after I arrived. James had to go to a thing at one of Addy’s kids teachers house around 4:30, so Marty and I drove over to James house on Lake Creek and met the guys for another cigar. I feel like I’ve been in a casino all night as one and a half cigars is way too much for me. I haven’t been smoking cigars at all lately.

Tonight we have the neighborhood party at Brian and Michelle’s down the street. Most of the neighborhood will be there so we’ll get to meet all the new people who moved into the neighborhood. Then tomorrow we have the Halloween party at Addy’s.

We’re back at it with Ty working at 7. He made it home sometime after 9 last night. Lori has the dentist and a nail appointment later today. Yesterday Tina pulled out a bunch of Jeff’s paisley shirts and some other stuff for me to borrow for Halloween. Think I’ll be ok looking like some 1970’s Austin Powers era musician. I should pair up well with Lori’s psychedelic costume.

Cold weather is coming in. Not sure how much snow we’ll get here. Could be a couple inches or could be six. Don’t think it’ll be much worse than that. Should take about a week to warm back up.

6am now. Glad we sold the Bronco’s tickets as it’s going to be cold at the game. Looks like the high is 30. James and I are going to hang out a bit this afternoon as he’s busy later today when we normally have cigar night.

Well, all three of my teams won. The Nuggets, Av’s and Diamondbacks. Not really a big baseball fan but have been hoping that they’d win as I don’t like Philly. Fun sports day.

I was in and out of Denver pretty quickly. By 10:30 I was in Boulder meeting Jag to give him some stuff and then after hitting the grocery store, headed home. Think I was home around 1:30.

I cleaned up outside and put things back from painting the house, getting ready for the incoming weather. Our painter is coming back to do a few touch ups sometime this week or after the weather in a couple weeks.

Lori works in Vail today and I have the Christmas light guy coming by to see about putting lights on the roof lines of the house. He does Brian and Michelle’s house a couple doors down.

Don’t get complacent. Steve my Green Beret buddy was up last night and told us they have him going to some planning meeting in Poland in about six weeks. He said it’s odd that they’re sending his group to Poland for a planning meeting. He’s on high alert and says shit’s getting crazy behind the scenes. There’s more on that but nothing to put in writing. All you need to know is that we’re basically in World War III whether the news tells you so or not. Everything on the news and that the government says, is contrived and has some meaning or purpose. Thankfully less than 20% of Americans trust the news anymore so there’s hope for us yet.

I made it down on time to get Lori’s snow tires put on and once there, Lance, the GM, gave me his Porsche to drive so I didn’t have to hang around the dealer and wait. I managed to get all my errands done in a couple of hours and made it back right when they finished up with Lori’s car. So off I went heading up the hill to pick up Lori.

I made it to Vail around 1:30 and we were home by 2.

This morning I’m off to Denver one more time to take Jag some stuff and return a coat I bought as a present we decided to take back. Jag also needs a winter coat, his guitar and his Halloween costume. I should be back today around the same time.

Weather is coming in this weekend. We were thinking of going to the football game but with parties Friday and Saturday, plus the money people are willing to pay because we’re playing the Chiefs, we sold our tickets to friends. I wasn’t sure why tickets were going for so much for the game until Lori looked online. Face value is like $650 for our four tickets and parking pass and when Lori told the people who asked to buy them that was the price, their response was “for each ticket”? Turns out since it’s the Chiefs and since Taylor Swift is dating Travis Kelce, every Swifty in Colorado wants to go and is willing to pay prices like it’s the Super Bowl. So who are we to look a gift horse in the mouth, or whatever they say. Not sure how anyone expects to see Taylor Swift, if she’s even here, but to each their own. We’ll gladly take the money. I’m now a big Taylor Swift fan, thanks Taylor!

Lori has a 6:30am call and I’m going to get moving to be out of here by 7:30 so I can be on 16th and Larimer by 10. Then it’s off to meet Jag by 10:45 and then after seeing him and getting some groceries, I’ll head home.

Off to Denver to get snow tires on Lori’s car this morning. I’ll drop her at the hospital to work while I run down. Hope to be back by 1 or so. Yesterday after the gym we went to Costco and did some stuff around the house. The house looks good outside with our new paint job.

The highlight of the day though was the Bronco’s won! It wasn’t decided until the end but finally things went our way. On to next week.

Snow looks like it’ll finally arrive this weekend just in time for our Halloween party on Saturday at Addy’s. Ty had fun from what we know at the concert as he face timed mom around 10pm or so. Think he called my phone but I didn’t get up.

Lori made it home, the house if finished and looking good and we slept in until 7. Tonight, Ty is going to the Travis Scott concert and last night Jag and Ava went to the Av’s hockey game, and they won! Today we’ll hang out at the house and recoup before the week starts tomorrow.

The World is a mess. As I said before, people are picking sides. There’s a lot of anti-Israel feelings here in the U.S. which is a little surprising. Not so much with college students as universities have been indoctrination camps for decades. It’s members of Congress and adults that should be more educated. Like I’ve always said, people don’t think for themselves and most believe everything they see or hear on tv. Yesterday the government issued a travel warning for all Americans anywhere abroad. This is unprecedented as it includes Europe, Asia, Scandinavia and anywhere else. We’re not immune to violence here either. A woman who was the leader of a synagogue in New York was murdered outside of the building yesterday in what appears to be a random attack. Jewish people are warned to hide their faith to be safe. Pretty scary, almost like a World War II feeling in its early days. This is just what those who hate the west want, and of course, we’re falling for it hook, line and sinker. Oh, we sent another carrier group to the Mediterranean and in response, China did too. Hold on and get ready. In many ways, we’re in World War III right now, most just don’t see it.

Lori made it home after 7 hours of traveling. She had a great time. Think Annette was surprised. We’ll get to the gym today and then do some things around the house today. The paint outside needs another day at least to fully dry. Some parts look shiny as stain is oil based but where it is dry, it looks good. If some parts are still shiny, mostly on some knots, Antonio will fix them. He’ll also come back in the Spring and do another coat for free on the back side where the wind and snow hit the hardest. He’s a good guy and even though none of his workers speak English, we managed to communicate. I bought them 3 cases of Modelo the other day.

House looks good. Lori picked the right color again. She has great taste and a knack for design. It did smell a little like paint in the house last night which is understandable since they painted over half of the outside of the house. It’s a lot better this morning.

Ty works at 7 so we’re up and at it early again. Lori gets in around 7 or 7:30 tonight. Most of the house should be done by then, I think.

Lots of really good stuff going on at work. Too much to get into right now and nothing is finalized but lots of opportunities. I need to make Ty breakfast and shower so time to get moving. He’s going down to Denver after work today as he’s going to the Travis Scott concert tomorrow night. He’ll be back Wednesday.

Yesterday morning Lori flew to Carmel to surprise Annette for her early birthday celebration in Carmel. I thought I might have blown it as I wasn’t sure if I posted something about the trip in the days leading up to her trip. Hopefully I didn’t.

The painters started on the house yesterday. I had them paint one small side of the house with the color we chose to make sure it’s what we wanted. You can never tell until it completely dries. It looks good so today they’ll keep going.

I picked Ty up from work after a quick cigar with the guys and then we walked over to Il Mago and ordered a couple pizzas to go. We’ll leave in 30 minutes to head to the gym and drop Ty at work.

I think tonight Lori and the 4 girls are going out to dinner and then she fly’s home tomorrow around noon. Hopefully we’ll be mostly done with the house by then.

I guess Biden wants $100 Billion dollars for Ukraine and Israel. I’m all for helping but give me a break. Remember, the government has no income other than that they take from us in taxes. I for one, just cannot afford to give anymore to anyone. Besides, they never do what they say they’ll do with the money. It’d probably get diverted to promote drag shows in elementary schools or something like that. So I’m out, if I have a vote.

That’s it. Time to get moving. I did about 4 loads of Ty’s laundry so he has clean clothes for work today. Time to get him up, put the trash out and make him some eggs. Have a great Friday, God Bless.

Hopefully today, we’ll get started on the house. Antonio, our painter and I, picked out a grey tone stain that is a close match to the house, but Lori wants something a little more brown. This morning we’ll look at some more samples and hopefully decide on one so they can get started and finish by Sunday. We’ll see.

I was down and up from Denver with Ty in good time. We made it home around 12:30. Ty works today and I’ll work around the house and hopefully be moving stuff for the painters to get started. We need to try to get it done to protect the wood before the wind and snow comes.

My new air fryer arrived yesterday in the brown truck. Can’t wait to give it a try. I’m going to get after some more cleaning and organizing today after my call at noon.

After dropping Ty at work, I’m headed to Glenwood to pick up Lori’s car which is all done. It’ll be good to get it back and have it all fixed. Now I just have to get the garage door fixed.
