A Year of Change

Well we barely made the plane. We left Vail around 5:10 for our 8:24 flight. I thought we were going to miss it. 3 hours and 20 minutes later, we landed in Ft Lauderdale. We then waited for our checked bag and headed to get our rental car. Then another 3 hours later, we were in Sarasota. Our friends home is the entire 11th floor of this incredible building right on the water wedged between the Ritz Carlton and the Hyatt. You take the elevator up to their floor and the door opens right into their home. From their deck, all you see is water!

Last night, even though we were tired, we went to Captain Brian’s which is this little restaurant in a strip mall with the best seafood there is. We had fresh stone crab, lobster and clams. It was really really good. We went to sleep around 11 and Jag is still sleeping. Today we’ll be going on a big adventure all around Sarasota from the museum started by the Ringling’s (of Ringling Circus fame) to shops and maybe out on our friends boat, which is like 150 feet long! So time to run, hope all’s well, tomorrow we’re heading back to the other coast (the east) to Boca Raton, so stand by. God Bless.

It’s 3:45 am and we need to be out the door by 4:45. Hopefully 2 hours later we’ll be at the airport in Denver checking in for our flight to Ft. Lauderdale. Once we land we’re driving across the freakin State to Sarasota where we’ll stay until friday am. Then it’s back to Boca Raton for 2 nights and a Bocelli concert before flying home Sunday morning..

It’s sort of a work/pleasure trip. We had planned on it being a lot warmer down there than it supposedly will be. They say mid 60’s which doesn’t sound too warm but considering it was 2 degrees this morning, I’m sure it’ll be nice. Mojo is at doggie day care which is a private home with 5 other dogs, and the trainers little girl has taken a real liking to him. Becky from Lori’s work is staying here housesitting for us while we’re gone. So time to run, lots to do to get out the door, God Bless.

We’re still revelling in the glory of our Super Bowl win. In fact, I watched a rerun of the game last night on the NFL channel. The days never seem long enough. Before you know it, we run out of time. I did take Mojo to doggie day care yesterday. For the next week he’ll be living in a big house with 5 other dogs down in Eagle Ranch.  Mark, the trainer, is highly recommended. He doesn’t advertise anymore as he doesn’t have to. I’m sure Mojo will have a good time. The guys wife has been in the hospital where Lori works for over a week now with a bad infection. Hope she’s ok otherwise they’ll move her to Denver.

Today is the big parade in Denver for our team. Wish we could be there. We did get some Super Bowl stuff at Sports Authority yesterday. The place was packed and most stuff gone as tons of people were there trying to buy t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts and more, all adorned with Denver Bronco Super Bowl Champions logos.

Guess I’ll run, lots to do today before leaving for Florida tomorrow. We’ll be leaving the house about 4:30am to get to the airport. We were going to go to Denver tonight and stay with my Mom but we have too much to do. Hope all’s well, GB

What a game, there were so many life lessons for all of us from humility, to being a gracious winner, and loser, (especially loser!), perseverance and much more, but I’ll leave all that alone. Today is a day to celebrate our team and victory.

Lori and I went to my buddy Rik’s house, Jagger to Ethan’s and Ty decided to stay home as his friend had a last minute family emergency. We never trailed and our defense was relentless. They just kept coming and coming. Once again, no one gave us a chance, from all the experts to Las Vegas, we were supposed to get trounced. But wait, 52 guys with a lot of heart had a different idea. What a game! That’s why sports are so freakin great!

Today Mojo goes to doggie training for a week and we all have a bunch of work before we leave for Florida early Wednesday. Time to get everyone up as it’s 6:15. Wear some orange today and celebrate our victory, whoo hoo, God Bless and God Bless the Denver Broncos and especially Von Miller! (if you don’t know who he is, well, he’s just the best)

God, please, please, please let the Denver Bronco’s win! After all we deserve it, right? One of the great pleasures still left in this manipulative World are sports. Most (except wrestling) are not scripted (we hope) and no one knows the outcome until the game is played. Everywhere else we look, it seems the fix is in. For example, in politics, it doesn’t matter what the people say, as is evidenced by Hillary who should be in jail. There’s injustice all around us and often the outcome of things are predetermined before things ever get going. But not in football! Today we’ll play the game and even if the ref’s are biased (which they always are against us) we can still win. So, buckle up and hold on, at 3:30 PST, the games starts. Go Bronco’s.

Yesterday Lori’s back went out so she took it easy while I grocery shopped and did some work around the house. It’s 7:10 now and she’s still in bed, hopefully feeling better. The boys skied all day long which is good exercise for them and we might go out again this morning before the game, we’ll see. That’s it, wear orange, cheer hard and say a prayer! God, please Bless the Denver Broncos, and you too!

Today the boys will head to the mountain to ski and we’ll get on the house. It’s time for a deep clean around here. Monday Mojo goes to doggie training for a week while we’ll be in Florida. We have someone house sitting as we’d already booked them. What else, gold’s gone up $100 in 8 days, silver too, the economy is tanking, no matter what they tell you. The Dow is going to take a big hit this year, so they say, and the Pres is on tv saying everythings fine, hmm.

Now to the big game. We’re going to friends which we really didn’t want to do as we hate the fact that it starts at 4:30. This means it’ll be 9 when we get home. I think both boys are going to friends houses too which will be fun for them. I know Robi is going to party somewhere but would suspect Tom and Ali are staying home and I know my Mom is too. Guess I’ll run, another day in paradise, hope all’s well, GB

2 days until the Super Bowl, sure hope we win! Yesterday was another whirlwind with lots of work and activities at school. Finally at 7:40pm I picked Lori up from work as she had a deposition. That’s another aspect of her job that’s different. Her, her doc and a few lawyers sitting around in a room, fun huh.

I have some financial work to wrap up this morning and then am going to try to get to Costco to return a few items and pick up some new. The boys have school instead of Ski Friday as they had a snow day this week. Both boys sure are getting tall. A friend of ours whose kid is in Jag’s class came up to me after the concert and said “boy, buy your kid some pants”! You see his dress pants were about 5 inches too short but in my defense, they did fit him at Christmas. She was kidding, but not,  and laughing as his pants were so short. Guess we need another trip to Nordstrom. Jag did get up and say a few things on the microphone during the concert. He’s so grown up. Ty meanwhile has had a growth spurt of his own. Looks like he’ll catch Jag soon.

It’s 6am so time to run, GB and Go Broncos!

Today we have the science fair and music concert after school. Jag is in the science fair and both boys in the concert. Should be done by 6 if we’re lucky. It’s still snowing up here on and off. The winters are longer but nothing we can’t handle. Florida next week will be nice, even if it’s only in the high 60’s or 70’s.

Lori and I are both working hard. Not much new to talk about there. Have you heard about Zika? The new virus sweeping South and Central America and now here, what fun. I guess it primarily is a problem for pregnant women but 4 Florida counties have declared it an emergency. How about gold, it’s gone up like $80 in 2 weeks! If you don’t follow metals, this is a big jump. Then there’s food, packages are getting smaller and supply is getting tighter. Have you noticed the shelves at your grocery store are thinner than usual? There’s a thing called the Baltic Dry Index that measures shipping activity around the World and it’s in the tank like it’s never been. Oh well, enough doom and gloom, just throwing it out there in case you’re interested. There’s always the Bachelor or some meaningless show on tv to distract you from reality. With no school, the kids decided to head to the mountain with the rest of the school. So after picking up Ty’s friend Rachel, I dropped the 3 of them at our locker around 10:30. Jag went and hooked up with some friends and Ty and Rachel went off on their own. Pretty nice that we can let them go skiing on their own and feel good about it. I picked them all up at 3:30 and after dropping Rachel at her house, headed home.

At 6, I went and picked up Lori who had an image review after clinic. None of us really know what she does, but she’s pretty amazing. This morning I have a dentist appointment at 9:30, then some more work and then the kids are off at 1 as it’s a teacher planning day. That’s about it, did you see Hitlary beat Bernie by 4 votes because they flipped a coin to see who would win 6 precincts! Super right, our Country is picking the democratic nominee by flipping a coin, unbelievable! God Bless and help us all!

Well we did get some snow, enough to close the schools today, but no where near what they said. The big problem up here is the drifts from the wind. I need to wait until they plow to get Lori to work as in some places the drifts are over 4 feet high. Just another day in paradise.

Last night was the Iowa caucuses. Good to see Hitlary is tied with the socialist Bernie and that Trump lost. He came in second or maybe even third. Maybe the people are waking up afterall. I’ll leave it at that for politics.

I have a call starting at 8:30 so I need to get moving to clear off the car to take Lori to work. When there’s this much snow, I usually drive her. It’s also Groundhog Day. Not sure if he saw his shadow or not but up here, there’s definitely 6 more weeks of winter.
