A Year of Change

Headed out in an hour for the Springs for our test drive. I’ll go to Marty’s and we’ll drive from there. Should be gone most of the day. Think we’ll hit a little snow in places. Hopefully not too much. I made it down and up from Denver by 11am. Didn’t waste any time. Ty comes home this afternoon and works tomorrow.

Yesterday after getting home and doing some work, I went over to Marks for a cigar with him and Clark. Clark was headed to Cuba at midnight out of Denver last night. He’s been there at least 20 times and knows a lot of people. He always takes things like pencils or coffee as they can’t get those down there. Hard to believe Cuba has no coffee, right?

Last night, Ty, Maddie and his friend Jason flew up to Wyoming for dinner. Jason is a pilot and I think they flew from Rocky Mt. Airport by Boulder. Always a bit nervous about them flying, especially at night, but they seem to be fine.

5:20 now and I’ll be on the road in 40 minutes or less. I need to run to the warehouse to get some samples. Hope to be back by 10:30 or 11. My new Leica spotting scope arrived yesterday. Thankfully I have the hookup as this thing is about $4000 in the store, but I picked it up for $1200 direct from my girl at Leica. She takes care of me on all things Leica. I’m also registered in their pro guide program for all hunting stuff so that helps too. Think I’ll keep it, but I might just go with range finding binoculars and flip the spotter.

Lori is in Edwards today, I think. Could be Vail. She’s still sleeping. Jag is doing well and working hard. Time to get moving, have a great day, God Bless.

Here we go, November 6th. A couple weeks and it’s Thanksgiving. Then it’s a month to Christmas! Wow! If anyone has anything special they want from Santa, better speak up now. I’m pretty good at surfing and finding things while watching football, especially for myself, ha. Nothing big, just small little things that are useful. I have a couple fun ideas for Lori but the kids so far haven’t shared anything.

Looks like Ava might not be going abroad for her next semester. This is good news as it’s just not safe. Jag is letting her make her own decision, but I guess she’s not comfortable with it either, smart girl. They’ll come up the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and then I think Ava will get here a day or two after Christmas. They’re going to Portland the Friday before Thanksgiving to see her family and then coming back I think Tuesday.

Ty is in Denver and will be back tomorrow night. Wednesday Marty and I are headed to the Springs to drive the Grenadier up Pikes Peak. I might run down to Grand Junction tomorrow, we’ll see. I should go to Denver and pick up some samples and see a couple accounts.

Lori finished the tree. It looks great as it always does. It’s a big job to put all the ornaments on as we have a ton. They each tell a story and many of them go back to when I was a kid. I love the old ones. They just don’t make things like they used to. Always makes me think of Mom when I see them. She loved Christmas and always made the house look so warm, inviting and like a scene out of a movie.

Looks like a little weather Wednesday and Thursday but then back to the 50’s and 60’s which is great. We’re hoping it holds on through November as they say we’re in for an El Nino winter which could mean some good snow. Right now it looks pretty good through the 20th.

Looks like 70 degrees here today, wow! Yesterday we hung out and Lori worked on the tree. I picked Ty up at 5:30 and then we watched tv. I turned off the CU game at halftime but saw we lost by about a touchdown this morning. Closer than I thought it’d be.

Ty works at 7. The extra hour sleep (due to daylight savings time) sure was nice. He’ll go down to Denver after work and then be back Tuesday for work Wednesday. Tom said he has his tree up!

Looks like the pro-Palestinian protesters are blaming Sleepy Joe for the conflict overseas. The Dems created this issue for themselves trying to play both sides and are now caught in the middle. I know Jewish people in places like New York that are leaving the city or afraid to go out in public much as they did in Germany before the start of WWII. Hard to get your arms around this happening in 2023. Since the George Floyd thing a few years ago, I didn’t think people could be so easily manipulated. Most protesters have no idea what they are even protesting about as when you confront them about what Hamas stands for and how they treat certain groups of people, their response is, “oh I don’t agree with that” or even worse, “no they don’t”. A few people wanting to tear the Country down are using social media to try to create division in the Country, and people, mostly younger, like students, easily go along with it. They’re even paying people go to marches and protests and busing them in from all around the Country. The big question is who is paying them? What a mess.

Today is Saturday! Last night I stayed up to watch the Nuggets and tonight I’ll stay up to watch the CU Buffalos hopefully get a win against the Oregon State Beavers. No big deal staying up until 11 unless you’re up at 5:30 every morning to take your kid to work.

We managed to get the tree up yesterday. It’s a little crooked but we’ll sort that out this morning and then Lori will start decorating. We both worked during the day too. Found a few Christmas presents yesterday, some for the boys and Lori, and some for me, ha.

Looks like it’ll be in the mid 60’s or higher today and tomorrow. Yesterday was a bit cold, which was surprising. Thought it was going to be warm. Marty and I might go look at a cabin on 40 acres tomorrow. Prices are dropping with winter coming. Would be nice to have a cabin in the woods.

6:05 now. That’s about it for the day. Have a great weekend. Think I’ll make a Costco run today to stock up on some more food. Prices continue to go up daily so it never hurts to stock up on food. Take care, God Bless.

Today we’re getting the tree out of the garage and setting it up! Not sure of Tommy has already beat us to it, but here we go. Lori will take the weekend or longer to get the ornaments on it but the tree will be up by noon. Game on!

Yesterday we rushed to make it to Boulder by 10 to meet Jag, only to be stood up! Guess he fell back asleep at Ava’s after his first class so when I couldn’t reach him, I just carried his stuff up to his room. His house, and particularly his room, looks like something out of the movie Animal House. Next up we were going to pick up Ty but he decided to hang out and take the bus up. So we dropped stuff at Tina’s after hitting Marczyk’s, (a specialty grocery store) and headed home stiffed by both kids!

It was a nice drive and Lori worked most of the way. Once home we did some stuff around the house before I headed out to cigar night. James was on a plane to St. Louis at noon but a bunch of the other guys showed up. I was home by six and Lori and I then hung out.

5:44am now, and we’re taking Ty in 45 minutes. Then it’s off to the gym. Hope everyone is well. Getting ready for winter. Another ski area opens today, Winter Park. Headed down to meet Jagger this morning. I’m dropping off a set of cookware, some sweaters, a pair of boots and my green pants. Then it’s off to Denver to drop the stuff at Tina’s that I borrowed for Halloween, (but didn’t use) and then we’ll grab Ty and head home. Lori decided last night she’d go with me, which is nice. Think she’s still going.

Yesterday I took down all the Halloween stuff and cleaned the house well. I did such a good job, we cancelled the cleaners for today and saved a couple hundred bucks.

I read an article yesterday about how the government is out of control with mass surveillance and control of the population. Think about it, they listen in on every phone call, read every email, know every search you do on the internet, track where you go via your phone or car and know everything you buy if you use a credit or debit card or something like Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp, ApplePay or one of the other electronic payment methods. It’s no wonder they want to make all money digital. So what can you do? Well, let your representatives know every chance you get that this overreaching by the govt. needs to stop. If not, we’ll soon be in the days of The Hunger Games or one of those movies where everything you do needs approval from someone or some computer program. Scary stuff, think about it. Even George Orwell couldn’t imagine this.

Biden will soon be gone. RFK Jr. has 22% of the vote in a 3 way election. This scares the Dems and the GOP. It sure would be something if he won. Expect attacks (false) to pickup on him.

Christmas tree will be going up soon. Nice weather up here. Cool, but still nice. The snow is slowly melting and should be gone by Sunday at the latest. Marty and I hung out yesterday as I had to run over to Summit (County) for some stuff. We’re going to Colorado Springs next Wednesday for another test drive of our new Grenadiers which are scheduled to be built early next year. Should be fun.

Here we go, hold on, 61 days to go. November 1st. Nice and sunny up her but cool. It’ll warm up today and be nice for the weekend. Another ski area is opening today. Keystone joins Arapahoe Basin.

Last night the neighbor kids came up. The whole family dressed as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The kids are so cute. Lori is in Frisco today.

I cleaned up my room in the basement yesterday. Found stuff I forgot I had. Still have a few things to clean up today. Time to get the Halloween decorations down and the Christmas decorations up.

James and I hung out for a few hours yesterday. He leaves Thursday around noon for St. Louis and has shows Friday and Sunday and then will be on a plane by midnight Sunday and land in Rifle around 1am. Same thing the following week for two shows in Detroit and then he’s done until the Spring. Next September he has two shows in Mexico City I think on the 23rd and 25th so we’ll go hunting probably like the 5th to the 15th. As I said the other day, we’re headed to Alaska. Can’t wait.

Marty and I are going to Colorado Springs for another test drive on our Ineos Grenadiers, probably next week. Super excited. Our build window in next March so we’ll probably get them in April or May. My buddy Jim and his dad test drove them last Friday and says they’re legit. Melanie leaves this morning and is traveling for most of the next two and a half weeks, so Marty and I are going to get in a bird hunt or two with Toby during that time.

I’m headed to Boulder tomorrow morning to drop Jag some stuff. He wants my green tactical pants I wore on Halloween and some big sweaters as that’s the look, so he says. Then I’ll pick up Ty and we’ll drive home together.

Guess I’ll head to the gym. Then I think I’m going to Murdochs in Frisco for some gloves and I’ll stop and get some more organic chickens at Whole Foods. That’s it for the day. Time to get going. Stay safe and God Bless.

Last day of October, which means tomorrow is the first day of November. So, 62 days left in the year. Last night, Ty and Maddie went to Tom’s for dinner and to hang out. Sounds like everyone had fun. I would have as Tom made steak and lobster for the kids!

Lori woks in Vail today and I’ll be working around the house. Yesterday I had lunch with Marty and Mark. Marty was over seeing his endocrinologist. Turns out she’s not that great of a doctor as her nurse is the one who got Marty fixed up. The doctor actually tried to recommend some other option that she clearly was getting compensated for pushing. Marty called her out and she was at a loss for words. Point of this is to think for yourself and advocate for yourself, especially when it comes to your health.

My back is a little sore from the gym. I’ll need to stretch it out this morning. Chilly outside they say. Warming up though. Jag and Ava looked great in some pictures where they dressed up as Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo. They’re really cute together. We love her! She’s smart and tall, ha! Cannot believe how expensive everything is these days. Most people don’t notice it as it’s 50 cents here, a dollar there. But the final bill at the grocery store or any store is way up from a few years ago. Things are easily up 20% or more on everything. Something has to give. I could go on and on about what a mess the govt. has made things in just a few short years, but I’ll save you the angst as I think you already know. That is of course unless you live in a cave.

Tom said Shelly fell and broke her hip. She might have broken both hips, we’re not sure as Tasha said she first broke her femur. Maybe we’ll find out more today. Hope she’s ok.

Broncos won! I knew it! In fact, I called it Saturday night telling Mark, or Santa to you all if you looked at the pictures, we’d win. Just had a feeling. It was a really great win that washes away most of the smell from the bad losses we’ve had this year. It was much needed. Now on to the week.

2 days until November, hard to believe. Roads are dry but there’s still snow on the grass. Think it’s cold outside, probably around 5 degrees. That’s ok though as long as the roads are good. Supposed to be dry now with temps getting back up into the high 50’s and lows in the 20’s by tomorrow and staying that way for at least the next 10 days, perfect.

Ty is home Thursday. Jag is doing well. He has a few weeks more of school to go before Thanksgiving. Time to start thinking about Christmas. Tommy is probably almost done shopping, ha. Lori wants to put the tree up. Might pull it out today but we’ll take our time putting ornaments on. Was hoping Jag and Ava would come up this weekend to help but he’s busy.

While I was watching the game, Lori went to carve pumpkins with the kids next door. They love her and she loves them. It’s like she has three little girls of her own without the headaches. They run to her and give her a big hug whenever they see her. It’s funny, we’re now like those old people in the neighborhood that our kids used to have as neighbors.
