Last night the 4 Amigos, (Jag, Zach, Ethan and Matt) hung out all night long. The night started off with some burgers on the cauldron and then some cigars while watching the Lakers and Clippers basketball game on our outside tv. After that they headed downstairs to play games or something. Not sure when they all crashed. Zach is headed to Cal Poly, Matt to the University of Indiana and Ethan is taking a gap year and heading to Israel. These four buddies have been “the crew” of the school for most of high school. Lori was thrilled to have kids in the house. I had to remind her she had four men in the house as they’re all 18! They could go to war, vote, get married, all kinds of stuff. She still thinks of them though as kids and in a way, so do I.
Lori and I ran over to Frisco yesterday and picked up two Adirondack chairs. Our buddy who owns a store gave me a great discount and they’re made of recycled plastic that looks just like wood. Best thing is they can stay out year round. We opted for black and grey as they looked the best.
Today I’m off to Denver for a quick turn and then will grab another load from Minturn. Lori will wrap up her first week of work. She’s done an amazing job and they’re lucky to have her.
I’m sure Ty is having fun. He’s missing a fun week of work. Be well and safe and God Bless.
More stuff out of the house. About 50 bags in all. I tracked down my trash men and tipped them for the mess and extra work. Lori had another great day at work. She and Dr. B. made some new video they’ll be blasting all over social media soon. Jag carried a bunch of wine downstairs for me while I was cleaning out Minturn. I had a pallet and some cardboard fly out of my truck on the way to the recycling place on the way, fun. After a quick trip home to unload some stuff, JJ and Luis, our painters, met me back in Minturn to take a look at the house so they can paint it. Since I was there I loaded up one more load and then went to James for our weekly hang until heading home at 7. Jag went to a friends for a graduation party and was home at 8.
This morning I’m off to Silverthorne and then to Minturn before heading back home. Lori is in Edwards today. Tomorrow I’m in Denver and I think Jag is coming along. My right knee is swollen due to all the moving. Need to calm it down.
Yesterday we accomplished a lot. Here at home and in Minturn. Every day we’re getting a few more things moved and a few more things fixed. As soon as I left, figures, they called and were delivering our cauldron. Jag managed to set it all up except for the 132 pound cauldron itself. When I made it home we carried it back to where we decided to set it up. It wasn’t too heavy for us, just awkward as there are no places to really grab it.
We bbq’d some burgers on it before Jag, Lexi and Emile had a bonfire and made s’mores later in the evening. This morning I cleaned it out as we went to sleep before the kids were done. It’s really cool and the smell of the fire brought back memories of when we were kids. One of the best purchases we’ve made.
Lori’s work was great! Everyone is thrilled she’s there and she sees all kinds of room for improvement and is already changing things for the better. I’m off to Minturn this morning as it’s trash day and I want to get as much of the remaining crap out as I can.
Time to go, Ty is still at Lake Powell and having fun as no news is good news. Happy Wednesday, be well, be safe and God Bless.
Yesterday JJ and and his son Luis, our painters, were here doing touch up all day long. I’m using them in Minturn too. Lori had her first day of work which was a lot of Hippa and OSHA training which means you watch a lot of videos. Lori knew everything but she had to watch it again anyhow. I brought a load of stuff weighing probably 5000 pounds down to the house. I still have more to do today but first we have the plumber coming and some guys picking up a rug. Also finally today, our Cowboy Cauldron is going to arrive. Jag and I can’t wait. Ty left about 1 in the afternoon for Lake Powell with Preston and his family and will be home next Sunday. Harley barked non-stop from 1 am until 3:30 wanting water, ugh.
The house looks great with everything fixed up. Jag is going to carry wine downstairs to the vault for us today. He chose all his classes yesterday and is taking Japanese as a language as he couldn’t get into the Chinese class he wanted. He’ll keep trying. He also gets his own room or suite as they call it which is connected to another suite by a shared bathroom. This is the best of both worlds. He gets his own room and still basically has a roommate.
Lots going on work wise too. I’m sick and tired of this virus and everything being shut down. Time to get back to normal. God Bless.
This morning Lori starts her new job! She’s so excited and can’t wait. She’s in Edwards most of the week which is 15 minutes away. We also have the painters coming to repaint or touch up every where that there’s a spot or ding from moving in. Ty leaves for Lake Powell for a week around noon and I have a lot of revenue to get in this week before the month ends. Jag enrolls in his classes on line this morning. So there you have it, we’re busy!
Sunsets here at the ranch are beautiful but so are the sunrises. Check it out,
That was from 15 minutes ago at 5:45 am. Lori and I managed to get a ton more done at Minturn and Trent and I put in a new microwave. The one we sent the boys to buy was a tad too big. It’ll have to go back. I think (hope) my Cowboy Cauldron arrives today.
We have about 100 spots marked around the house with blue painters tape. Speaking of blue, there’s about a dozen mountain blue jays outside at our feeders now. Lori just came in with both dogs and is doing her best to train Harley. Jennifer was over last night with one of her Dobermans named Ivan to work with Harley. Great name, right! That’s the first Ivan I’ve run into in years.
Time to get moving so we’re ready for Carlos our painter. Make it a great day, stay safe and be well, God Bless.
Every morning we wake up to a menagerie of animals outside gorging themselves on bird seed and a fruit and nut blend. You’d think these animals would have starved before we moved here. They’re fun to watch and clearly love their new source of food. It’s like a free Easter buffet for all of them.
Last night about 9 pm there was a knock on the door. I just realized we don’t have a door bell. I love that! Anyhow I went to the front door to see who it was and there was my cousin Lee and his wife Margret! Lee (Christian, Aunt Rose’s son) lives about a half a mile from us in the lower part of Eagle Ranch. We’d been communicating back and forth for two years but he recently quit Facebook so we hadn’t talked lately. He jogs by the house often and said he watched the whole thing being built. It was a really nice surprise. We figured out we hadn’t seen each other since Tommy’s wedding. His wife is adorable, they’re both conservative and super down to earth. Lee is 67 now and his two of his three boys live here in the valley. The oldest and middle boys were both Marines and Forrest, the oldest, lives in Edwards while Robert and his wife and their kids live with Lee and Margret right now. Walker, the youngest is in England studying alchemy. Robert teaches concealed carry classes at our local shop and Lindsey is an assistant manager at Costco. After seeing pictures of them both, we’re sure we’ve run into them. So what fun to have some family close. Scott, Aunt Rose and Uncle Ted’s oldest son I guess was questionable at best. They haven’t talked to him in over two years and I guess he took about $1 Million from his mom. The youngest of our cousins, Margret, is confined to a wheelchair after a bad stroke and lives in Denver with her husband. Lee says she’s sharp as ever but just lost some motor skills. Sad. Margret, Lee’s wife is great and will be fun to have close. She kept apologizing for barging in but said she just had to see us. She’s also a hugger, hmm.
We just took both dogs for a walk. Harley was like a German guard dog yesterday when the trainer came over and even though we had her in a muzzle, she would try to attack Jennifer. We were all confused but figured out with her ear infection and the new surroundings, she’s just freaked out. After about two hours of working together (all three of us) we finally had her in a good place. She now has her E-collar on and daily and we feed her her meals by hand training her as she eats. She’s doing really well this morning as we all just returned from our morning walk.
Jag and Ty went to Denver yesterday to pick up a microwave for the townhome. Funny when you move out you fix everything but you’ll live with it for years. We need a big push today as Lori starts work tomorrow and my neighbor who has been fixing everything leaves for a month for ski training in Oregon at Mt. Hood on Thursday. He fixed our deck yesterday as structurally it wouldn’t pass inspection. The next door neighbor’s is really bad. Trent is the President of the HOA so he fixed all this on their dime.
The boys are loving life. They need to clean their rooms today as we’re not letting this place turn into our old place. James was supposed to come up and get our three beds yesterday but didn’t show. We’re donating them.
That’s it, time to move and groove. Here’s a picture of some rain out the front door from the other day, looks like a painting! God Bless.
I slept until 7:15 this morning as I must have needed it. I’m still a bit tired but slept well with the window open and the cool mountain air coming in. Lori still is not doing well with our new bed. Hopefully the pillow top they sent us arrives soon and hopefully that works otherwise it’s back to the drawing board.
We made it to Marty and Mel’s around 7 for dinner. Jag helped cook and bbq which he always does as he enjoys it. Monday Ty leaves for Lake Powell for 6 days with friends and their parents.
The dogs love it here but are struggling as they’re still not sure where they are. Harley jumped up and scratched the door from the garage to the house. Luckily we have painters coming Monday to basically repaint any and everywhere there’s a mark or scratch.
After a bit it’s back to Minturn to keep cleaning. Everything inside is almost fixed. New lights, smoke alarms, doors, etc. We will need to paint three rooms and we’re putting in a new microwave and then we’re good to go. We’ll provide a $5K carpet allowance to whoever buys the place rather than put it in ourselves so the new owners can choose their color.
Our views are still magical. Hard to believe just what we see every morning when we wake up. We have tons of birds and chipmunks and bunny rabbits outside coming up the the three feeders we have out. Time for coffee. Be well, be safe and turn off the news, God Bless.
Last night was my first night in our new home. It sure turned out nice. We can see ourselves being here for a long time. We’re still fixing things up and have lots of things to put away but it’s like living in a five star hotel at a resort in the mountains somewhere. Could be Arizona, Nevada, Northern California or Colorado.
I worked a ton yesterday in Minturn after my quick trip to Denver. Jag took the Audi down for us and then met me at the townhome to clean some more. Luz, Lori’s friend from her old office stopped by on her way home as she lives close. One of the nurses at Lori’s old job found out she has advanced breast cancer. She’ll have a double mastectomy pretty quick. Even though this is the girl who basically sabotaged Lori, Lori sent her a text wishing her well and offering to help in any way. We feel really bad for her as her husband had serious health issues a few years ago. We’re praying for her and are hoping for the best. So sad.
It’s raining this morning which is incredible. We took the dogs out for a walk and the smell of the sage and the fresh mountain rain was overwhelming. Lori had a call with the tv producers from Hell’s Kitchen and Big Brother last night as she and her new doc are doing a pilot for the Discovery Channel on spine surgery and will hopefully get picked up! How exciting is that?
My hand is still swollen. I probably have a fracture and will need to go in next week. If I need surgery I’ll have to wait for a while as I have too much to do.
I can’t get over our views from every room in the house. Both boys love it here and feel like they’re on vacation. More work today and my Cowboy Cauldron is supposed to arrive too! We’re going to bbq at Marty and Melanie’s tonight. Here are a few pictures of the view from our bed this morning.
I love my big rocks! No one can build near us the way the land flows. We have a big draw right behind the house so the closest anyone could build is across the gully.
It’s almost 7 and I need to get to the gym today for sure so time to go. At 9 we’re going to the stone yard to try to find just the right piece for our hearth and at 11:40 I have a Zoom call with the sales team from the distributor. Then it’s more cleaning, make it a great day and God Bless.
This morning I’m off to Denver to the distributor and bank and a store and so is Jag as he’s taking Moms car to get the oil changed. I have Ty’s room empty and am continuing to move a bit more each day. I hope to paint by early next week. Mojo went to the vet and is at the new house tonight while Harley is here with me. Everyone else is down there. I’m the only one that hasn’t spent a night there yet. Hopefully tomorrow.
Shit’s still crazy with the cancel culture movement and the virus. Here’s some Colorado numbers on the virus as an fyi,
Hopefully this makes some of you feel better. It should also make you mad as hell that the govt. and media has drilled into us all the sky is falling theme around this virus. Now I certainly don’t want to get it but I don’t want to get ebola either. These numbers are 100% true, check it out. It also says Colorado’s data grade is an A meaning the numbers are correct. If true, which it apparently is, you have to ask yourself why all the doom and gloom. Our Gov just shut down ALL bars at 10pm starting tonight. He’s trying to put people out of business, unbelievable.
Now to the non-stop political correctness or as they now call it, cancel culture. What does that even mean? I honestly cannot believe 99% of us are letting the unhinged 1% of criminals and thugs write the rules for the rest of us. Wake up already, enough is enough.
Crazy times, can’t believe what’s happened to America. Friends in Italy think we’ve gone nuts and are laughing at us. God help us, God Bless.
Ugh, trash day, thankfully. I have a few pieces of furniture, my trash can and 11 large bags of trash to put out this morning. Yesterday a chipmunk ran into the new house and then into the garage. Lori and Jagger think he then ran out, hmm. There’s a lot of cardboard I need to break down today down there so I’ll find out soon if he’s still there.
Lori has a job! Vail Summit Orthopedics, Steadman’s main competition, with a number of top docs like Lindsey Vonn’s doctor and others, created a position just for her! Pretty exciting. The good news is she gets to work two days a week from home, wow. Things couldn’t have worked out better. She’s super excited. More to come next week after she starts. Good news is she passed the background check, ha.
Our new mattress arrived yesterday. Ty’s desk should arrive today and hopefully his bed frame soon too. I’m going to run to the gym before getting back to work. Again Lori and Jag spent the night in Eagle and Ty and I in Minturn. Make it a great day and God Bless.
