More snow!

We woke up to maybe 4 or 5 inches of fresh snow outside but when you live in the mountains, it’s just another day. It’s funny as on tv, they’re showing the snow in Denver which is about the same, and almost every school is closed for the day. Guess it’s just what you’re used to.

Lori worked from 7:30 am until 8 pm last night. This made for a long day as we had student teacher conferences before that starting at 7 am. Both boys are doing great! Say what you will about private school versus public school, but for our kids, it’s a great thing. Both boys are excelling far above how they would do in public schools as students just cannot get the attention there (in public) due to budgets and teacher student ratios. Plus, we think our teachers really are that much better and seem to care more. Here there is no tenure or job security. If you’re not a good teacher, you’re out. No union or guarantees, you’re either a great or you’re gone.

Today I have a bunch of computer work. I stopped and visited with my Mom and Popcorn yesterday and both look good. More to come including the promised steps to prepare for the coming election season. Hope all’s well, GB.

Teacher conferences and Denver

Ok, I know I promised a follow up on yesterday’s post but that’ll have to wait as we have conferences at 7am and then I’m off to the Dept of Wildlife in Denver. The boys are off school and will be home. Jag was home yesterday with flu like symptoms. I took him to the doctor and he thankfully didn’t have the flu but does need to rest.

Lori’s back seems a little better but is still sore. There was a big terrorist attack in Europe. Just a sign of things coming soon to a neighborhood near you! Just what we need on top of all of the problems of our own. Say a prayer and God Bless.

1st Day of Spring

I guess it’s going to be in the 70’s in Denver today so Spring is here. But hold on a minute as on Wednesday the temperature is going to drop 30 degrees or so. Looks like it’ll be another 2 weeks of rain and snow mix which isn’t unusual.

Today though we have bigger problems. Now I’ve stayed away from politics for a while but time is running short for you all to get prepared. I’m not talking about some end to society but rather the coming unrest due to the elections around the corner. Some are comparing this summer to the Summer of 68. For those of you with bad memories or not old enough, 1968 was a summer of protest and political suppression by the powers that be. You see, they are very very nervous. The Donald, (say what you will about him), is shaking up the establishment and Hillary is no better as her policies over the years show that she will utterly destroy life as we know it. So either way, you should expect some unrest and disruptions of your daily life. You may think this won’t effect me, I’ll just stay home, but this time, it’s bigger than that. Our food supply (at your local store) is bound to be impacted along with your money (the stock market and the dollar’s buying power) and worst of all, your rights as a citizen. Surely when things get out of hand, the elites will try to take away your rights by enforcing laws meant to protect them. This could include curfews in certain areas, restrictions on protesting and more. Talking about protesting, even if you don’t like Donald Trump, it’s interesting how the only ones protesting and suppressing free speech are Hillary and Bernie protesters showing up at Trump events. You don’t see Trump supporters showing up at the Dem’s events, think about that. In fact, the Dem’s are always the ones screaming about the right to free speech until it involves speech they don’t like, hmmm. Doesn’t make much sense does it and no matter which side you’re on, that’s 100% true!

Anyhow time to run. I managed to clean out the garage and make another trip to the storage unit. Lori’s back is still sore and she has a VIP patient flying in from Mexico at 7:30 this morning. I have a lot of computer work to do today and then will run to Denver tomorrow. Looks like snow for Easter, super. Not sure where the Easter Bunny will hide eggs. Have a great day, and don’t miss tomorrow as we’ll visit a few things you need to do now to provide a little peace of mind for the rest of the year, GB.

Another storage unit

Yesterday we loaded up the truck, mostly with Christmas decorations, and headed down by the Eagle Airport where we rented a second storage unit. They only had a 10 X 15 left so we took it and are on the list for a larger one if someone moves out. Today we’ll keep cleaning the garage out and take another load down. It was sunny and nice in the mid 40’s yesterday and will hopefully be more of the same today.

Ty spent the night at Warners and Jag and Lori are still sleeping. Not sure what else we’ll do today besides clean. That’s it for the day, on my 3rd cup of coffee, time to get to work. Hope Popcorn is doing well.

A great trip

I made it to school around 2:45 and the van with the kids had just returned from the mountains. I spotted Jag and called over to him and as he was walking towards the car, I thought to myself, he looks a couple years older. Now he was only gone 3 days but that’s a long time in “parent time” when you see your kids every minute of every day. He had a great time and I guess it was mostly sunny as they were so high (about 12,000 feet) that they were above the snow and wind. It did take them 6 hours to climb and ski to the hut on the first day as apparently there were some kids that were really slow. I guess 2 girls threw up on the way as they combination of the altitude and the workout took its toll. Along on the trip was an avalanche expert that did a few side trips with the boys teaching them about snow and avalanches. All in all he and the group had an awesome time. We never had anything like this when we grew up but then again, we went to public school. Say what you will about the cost of private school but it’s well worth it when you see how your kids grow and change throughout the year.

Lori worked until a bit after 6pm. She has a lot going on and personally handles the high roller international patients. She has one from Mexico, Jamaica, Canada and I think Australia or New Zealand flying in for surgery. These people are all self pays meaning they don’t use insurance, but when you’re in constant pain, I can understand. When Lori was having her 3 year headache, I would have given my right arm to cure her and I know she would have given much more!

Popcorn is home on medicine and I guess doing well. Monday she’ll go to a dog cardiologist for an electro cardiogram. I told my Mom it’s just like a person. This should be a reminder to stay as healthy as you can, although Popcorn’s problem was hereditary. Hopefully she’ll be ok.

I was going to try to go to Denver today to see my Mom but it looks pretty snowy down there so maybe I’ll go down Monday or Tuesday. We need to get a storage unit up here to clean out the garage a bit. If it warms up today and I can find one, maybe I’ll get on that. We also need to do a deep clean on the house so we have that going for us as well. Guess I’ll run, everyone is still sleeping and it’s 7:30am. It’s sunny up here and Spring is on the way. Have a great weekend and God Bless.

It keeps on coming

Yup, we have more snow here again this morning, probably another 4 inches or so. Yesterday Mojo and I made it to Denver and back before noon. The roads were bad going down but not so bad coming up. Jag is still on his hut trip and will be back around 3pm today. We all miss him.

Yesterday Popcorn (Mom’s dog) ended up in the vet with congenetive heart failure. We all hope and pray she’ll be ok. I’m sure it was quiet last night for my Mom with Popcorn in the vet. We’ll know more this morning but I think she’s responding to the treatment.

We slept in until 7 so time to get running. Ty is still sleeping and Lori and I are up. Hope you all had a good St Patrick’s day, we really didn’t notice it much. GB.

It’s supposed to start snowing around 11am and go until 4pm tomorrow. I’m going to try to run to Denver to drop some samples and then beat it back up the hill as quick as I can. Jag of course is high in the mountains in the thick of it and won’t be home until tomorrow.

Lori has to be at work at 7 for a meeting and I’ll drop Ty a bit after that and head out. Time to run as it’s 5:48 right now. Hope all’s well, GB

Oh, Happy St Patrick’s Day, don’t drink and drive and wear some green!

Team building

Yesterday Lori’s office pretty much took the day off for their annual ski day. Lori and 2 of the girls went cross country skiing while the rest of the office went downhill skiing. One girl, Kristin, was in the hospital with pneumonia. This is a fun, bonding, team building day for the staff. Lori and 2 of the girls did go in for a few hours mid day to return some phone calls. The boys and I met up with them all at the Red Lion for Apres Ski around 4:45.

Today Jag heads out on his hut trip until Friday. It snowed about 4 inches last night so they’ll have lots of fresh powder to skin up the hill in. Skins are pieces of fabric you strap on the bottom of your skis so you don’t slip backwards when climbing uphill.

It’s supposed to warm up next week but the snow could come back. Lori needs to be at work at 7am so I’d better start warming up her car and cleaning off all the snow. Hope everyone is well, have a great day and God Bless.

Here’s Lori!

Well I thought Lori would write the blog this morning, but no, she’s too busy. This morning Jag needs to take his gear to school for the hut trip tomorrow. Lori has team building today which is basically a ski day (she’s cross country skiing) and Ty has Robotics Club after school. I was supposed to go to Denver to drop some samples but think I’ll delay it until Thursday due to the snow.

Speaking of snow, it snowed last night and even though we only have a few inches here, the pass is a mess. I sat on top of the pass yesterday for 90 minutes as it was closed due to accidents. It’s usually big trucks that don’t chain up that cause all the problems.

Next week it’s supposed to get warm but we’ll have to wait and see. Time to run as it’s after 7 and I need to get the car cleaned off. Have a good day, GB.

It’s back!

Here it comes, more snow, whoo hoo. Most people might not want more snow in March but up here it makes for good skiing. Vail shuts down April 10th so we’re counting down the days. On Wednesday, Jagger and the entire 8th grade are off on their hut trip. I think the weather will be perfect with snow stopping tomorrow and starting up again on Friday. They’re gone from Wednesday until Friday so it should be good for their trip.

I probably need to sneak down to Denver tomorrow to deliver some samples to some accounts but then will be home all week. We need a storage unit bad up here so that’s on the honey do list as well.

It’s 6:16 and I’ve been up for 30 minutes but with Daylight Savings Time, it’s like 5:16. So, I’m letting everyone sleep in a little as they’re going to be tired anyhow.

Guess I’ll get moving, lots and lots to do. I hope you all have a great week. I’ve been purposely avoiding politics as it’s just too crazy to even talk about. There are a few things going on with the current administration though which are pretty troubling. I’ll leave it at that as it doesn’t do much good to talk about it. That’s it, GB.
