Sick kid(s)

Yesterday around 10:15am Jag’s school called as he was in the clinic so off I went to pick him up. He hadn’t been feeling well so this wasn’t much of a surprise. I just sent him back to bed this morning too as he doesn’t seem a whole lot better. Ty also looked a little flush last night after his music concert at school but he’s still sleeping. He was great at his concert though. He played the xylophone or glockenspiel, not sure which one it was.

Anyhow we’re running late as it’s already 6:20 and I’m writing this in bed! Lori is a tough one to get up in the morning meaning it takes two hands so I’d better go.

God Bless

Too tired

It’s 6am and Lori and I just made it downstairs and for some reason, sure are tired. Guess we just didn’t get enough sleep. Lori has a sales meeting this morning and I have 20 bags of trash I need to move to the curb for the trash man. Jagger can barely talk as he has the crud that’s been going around. Not sure if he’s going to school or not until we take his temperature. I know he wants to go as he doesn’t want to get behind but we’ll see.

That’s it, just trying to get through another week in our lives. Sorry for the short post. Hope everyone is well, God Bless.

Hump Day

It’s the middle of the week, and we’re now on the downhill side, thankfully. Lori said this morning how the the weekends are too short and I said “what do ya mean, it’s almost the weekend again”. Anyhow it’s Wednesday, hump day, the middle of the week or for a more detailed explanation of the origin of the day,

Old English Wodnesdæg “Woden’s day,” a Germanic loan-translation of Latin dies Mercurii “day of Mercury” (cf. Old Norse Oðinsdagr, SwedishOnsdag, Old Frisian Wonsdei, Middle Dutch Wudensdach). For Woden, see Odin.
Contracted pronunciation is recorded from 15c. The Odin-based name is missing in German (mittwoch, from Old High German mittwocha, literally “mid-week”), probably by influence of Gothic, which seems to have adopted a pure ecclesiastical (i.e. non-astrological) week from Greek missionaries. The Gothic model also seems to be the source of PolishÅ›roda, Russian sreda “Wednesday,” literally “middle.

Or like I said, the middle of the week, so there.

Peggy and Bailey took off for home (Aspen), yesterday a bit after noon. When her Ferrari is fixed I told her I’d drive it to Vail and we’d meet her half way to save her the trip down. Today Lori has a big day at work and I finally have a break with only one scheduled call.

Jag woke us up and he sets his alarm for 6am every day but Ty is still sleeping. Mojo has taken to sleeping on the couch, super. It’s supposed to be snowy and cold for the Super Bowl but we don’t really care as we’re not really into it this year. Who knows if we’ll even watch. That’s about it, hope all’s well. Wondering of anyone has heard from Serena and Matt? How about it Annette? Hope they’re doing well and things are working out in Seattle.

Take care and God Bless.

What day is it?

It’s Tuesday right. We’re kind of in a fog this morning as things are moving fast around here. I have a bit of a headache probably from being on the telephone from 8am until 4:30pm yesterday with only a 15 minute break. Today is not as bad as I start a 9 and will be done around noon.

Last night around 5 our friend Peggy from Aspen called and was on the way down to have her car fixed. You might remember she has a fun little Ferrari and no one in Aspen knows how to work on them. She wanted to see if we wanted to go to dinner with her. I asked where she was staying and she wasn’t sure so we offered to have her stay with us as that’s what friends do. She was thrilled and then said, “and I have my new puppy with me”! What? A new puppy? Turns out Bailey is a 4 month Old English Sheepdog. Peggy had sheep dogs when growing up and Bailey is her 9th one! We knew she was looking at a puppy last year but didn’t know she now had one. Anyhow he’s of course sweet and well mannered and as my Mom would say, full of piss an vinegar. I put up Mojo’s crate just in case he found out we had a house guest and he was thrilled. I don’t think he even knew a puppy was just one floor away all night long! We’re not sure how Mojo would react as they’re both boys. Anyhow Bailey is here for at least the day and maybe until tomorrow. I guess this afternoon I’ll try to introduce the two of them.

It’s almost 6:30 and Lori, Peggy, Jagger and I are all up and moving, including Bailey. That’s about it, I’m sure there’s more but I’m kind of distracted right now. Hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

Comfortable

You might remember I told you we retired Mojo’s crate a few weeks ago. Well I came down this morning and apparently he’s now taken to sleeping on the couch, right in my spot! On top of that I left some clean clothes there last night that must have made a nice cushion for him. Glad I could help.

Yesterday we made some good progress, although you wouldn’t know it looking downstairs. However outside by the garage there are at least 15 large black trash bags full of well, trash. There’s also a bunch of boxes, some wood painting shipping crates (from art work sent to us over the years), 6 or 8 drawers from Ty’s broken dresser (thanks American Furniture Warehouse) and a few other assorted things like old suitcases (Vinny’s mom took one) and that’s about it. We must almost be hoarders there’s so much stuff. Anyhow we’re determined and there’s no stopping us now.

Ty played most of the day and then he and Jagger went to Jump Street with Vinny and his mom. She then took them all for a hamburger afterwards so they arrived him around 7:30.

Today I have three employee annual reviews and each one is at least 90 minutes. I also have an hour call with Texas that’s their annual meeting and then two more reviews tomorrow. Lots of phone time for me.

Lori is slammed for the next few days too but that’s normal. It’s going to be like 70 degrees the next couple of days which should be really nice. I had to move a railroad tie yesterday in the backyard to cover up a low spot in the fence as the new people behind us have yappy little dogs that Mojo thinks are giant dog cookies. I told the girl that if one gets through the fence, he’ll eat it! That’s our predator.

Time to run, Jag’s in the shower and it’s 6:28. Hope all’s well, have a great day and God Bless.

What a cluster

Yesterday after a long day of running around and stuff around the house, we jumped in the car to go to Elway’s for dinner around 5pm. Turns out our major highway downtown (6th Ave) was down to one lane. This meant a 20-25 minute trip turned into an hour and 10 minute trip! We never wanted to leave the city so bad. I mean the stupidity of the drivers is enough to make you want to get out and then there’s the sheer amount of people on top of that. Imagine if there was some sort of natural disaster or event where everyone actually did have to leave the city. The highways would be parking lots, full of stupid people, period. On top of that, we could have drove to Vail and had dinner at Elway’s there in the same amount of time!

Once we arrived, the restaurant too was packed. We made our way to our table and ordered up though for a nice dinner with some good family conversation. Then it was off to home where Ty’s friend Jude would be coming over to spend the night.

Now today the Spring clean continues. I’ll be in the basement while Lori is in Ty’s room. Yesterday she asked him if he liked his room a mess and he said “no of course not, I try really hard to keep it clean but I was born in the Year of the Sheep, and you know what that means”. Apparently in the Chinese calendar it says that people born in the Year of the Sheep are very disorganized among other things. Well at least now we know why his room is such a mess, who knew, bah bah.

Guess I’ll get moving, lots to do, hope all’s well, God Bless,

Kids Night Out

Last night from 7 until 10pm, Ty went to Kids Night Out at the local rec center. This was his first time and he went with Vinny. I guess a bunch of kids from his class go each week. It’s a combination of rock climbing, running, jumping, dancing, (no one dances they just run around), basketball and more. I guess Ty won the hula hoop contest! I’m sure he’ll sleep in this morning.

Traffic has been horrible lately meaning it’s taking Lori an hour to get home in what should be 30 minutes. I had my sales meeting across town and was home by noon. After cleaning the kitchen and house (sort of, just the tv room), it was time to pick up the boys. I did manage to wash the new truck.

Today we’re starting the big purge, again. No really, we’re going to start and make some progress, I promise. Problem is we’re just not sure where to start. I guess Lori could start upstairs and I in the basement and in a year or so, we could meet in the middle. The boys each have an hour of advanced math this morning and then I’m sure will be playing away.

Time to run, lots to do, take care and God Bless.

p.s. it’s supposed to warm up. Hope Matt and Serena are doing well in Seattle.

Finally Friday

Yesterday, I hired a new Medical Assistant….Hurray!!! I’m hopeful that she will be a great fit to the team. Nancy is her name, not only is she a certified Medical Assistant, but she completed nursing school and will take her Boards toward the end of March. We also purged the office of enough stuff to fill 3 rolling dumpsters…we can probably fill 9 more before the remodel begins.

The boys both had good days at school. Jagger has a test today and so does Ty.  Fifth grade spelling words are kind of tough…abbreviate.

Doug did 5…yes 5 loads of laundry yesterday, hit the grocery store, picked the kiddos up from school, and conducted planning meetings with multiple employees. Whew, what a work ethic that man has. If I worked from home I’m afraid I would hang out and watch movies. The laundry would certainly pile up, the cupboards would be bare and the kiddos would walk home from school.

Mojo just climbed up on the couch with me much to my husband’s chagrin. Mojo has his head on my lap, so I have type with one hand. Anything for our big dog!

I’ll see if the Mr. has anything to add to the post since it’s time to make breakfasts and lunches….

Nothing from me, God Bless!

The snow came

It snowed on and off for most of the day. It didn’t seem like a lot but in the end we probably have 6 to 8 inches on the ground which is more snow than it sounds. The worst part of the whole thing was Lori’s drive home. It took her about an hour and a half to make it home. I guess the roads were bumper to bumper and moving at 2 miles an hour! Anyhow she finally made it home by a bit before 7pm.

I had a protein shake for dinner and we ordered the boys a pizza. Lori didn’t really eat a thing. The kids had good days at school and I did too at work as we had an extra $150,000 order come in that was unexpected. Meanwhile Lori was saving the World at her work.

Today I have another annual review and then need to catch up on a bunch of paperwork and then prepare for a sales meeting tomorrow. Throw in a few unexpected fires that’ll pop up and the day will be a wrap. I need to try to get to the grocery store as well.

I forced Mojo to come in as he would have just stayed out in the snow all day and night. I think he’s getting used to sleeping without a crate which is nice. Guess I’ll run so I can get to the gym, hope you all are well, take care and God Bless.

Snows a comin

They say we should have 6 to 8 inches by this afternoon, although you can never really count on the weatherman. It is cooler this morning but not too bad, yet. I have calls most of the day and Lori too is slammed at work.

Jag just woke up but Ty is still sleeping. Last night was the State of the Union speech but we didn’t watch it. Instead we watched re-runs of some show which was much more entertaining and probably more truthful. I’m going to stay away from politics but this guy (the Pres) is acting like the Dems won the mid terms. I’m afraid the next two years will be a waste with him vetoing everything that comes across his desk. One quick fact, if you took all the people in the work force the day the Pres was elected, the unemployment rate would be 9.8, not the 5.6 he keeps talking about, as 30 million less people are working, enough said.

I need to run to the store to get Lori some hair spray so I’d better get moving. Not much else happening, Serena and Matt should be in Seattle where Matt is interviewing and they’re moving. Hope all goes well, God Bless.
