The Big Dance

As usual, the dance was a big hit. I don’t know what the school is going to do when Ty moves onto Junior High and takes his Mom with him. So many people came up to me and said how unbelievably great everything was once again and how it was typical Lori. Not only was the entire school decorated like it was out of some Johnny Depp movie, but even the walkway when people were leaving was lined with balloons that had glow sticks put in them that were then secured to the ground with golf tee’s. I know as after the party was in full swing, another husband and I had to blow them all up and stick them in the ground as we were told we couldn’t put them out until everyone was inside so it was new to them when they left. Jagger ran the photo both until around 7:30 when he and I finally bagged out. Lori and Ty made it home by about 9pm as they had to clean everything up and take all the decorations down after it ended at 8. Needless to say, she’s still sleeping.

It was nice and cool yesterday, so much that we had to turn on the heat. This of course gave me a headache last night which the heater always does. Haven’t heard much about Bob lately, hope no news is good news. My Mom had something cut out of her calf the other day that was causing an infection but seems to be doing well. She’s getting her second cataract surgery done this coming Tuesday and them she’ll be good for another 1,000,000 miles.

Today I think we’ll just rest. I have a little work to do to get caught up. We did hire a new girl in Texas and guy in Miami at the end of last week. Hope they turn out to be great, I’m sure they will.

Guess I’ll run so I can get to the gym. Hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

I just added photos in the from walking in to the food table:-) Just click on them to enlarge.IMG_0897 IMG_0899 IMG_0900 IMG_0901 IMG_0906 IMG_0908 IMG_0912

Friday

Well what should we talk about today? I guess I should say what should I talk about today. Let’s see, we have huge solar storms moving at 2 1/2 million miles an hour towards Earth, winter is coming and we have the big school dance tonight. I’d guess most of you want to hear about the dance, right?

Ok then, here we go. Lori has been working for what seems like a year on all the decorations for the big party this evening. She even made herself a dress for the occasion. I’ll take pictures so you all can see it. The theme is the Mad Hatters Ball as in Alice in Wonderland. So she’s made tons of top hats, red mushrooms with white spots and all kinds of other stuff that goes with Wonderland. It should be quite the party but I’m sorry to say, the weather is not cooperating. I think she was planning on decorating the walk way outside but may have to rethink her plans as we might get snow today!

I’ve got a few calls to make for work as we need to finish out the Quarter strong and we’re hiring a few new people. Other than that, today is all about the dance, so time to go as I’m sure I have to load up or unload something somewhere!

Hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

9/11

September 11th is of course the anniversary of the 2001 Al Qaeda attacks on the U.S. , but it is also the anniversary of the Benghazi Embassy attacks, in 2012. Please remember the sacrifice of J. Christopher Stevenson, Sean Smith, and CIA (former Navy SEAL) agents Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. Between them, Woods and Dohery reportedly dropped at least 60 of the attackers, before their position was overwhelmed. Please also remember the spineless worms in Washington, D.C. who decided to not back up the embassy staff when they were in dire need of help. Eventually, they will pay for that. Time wounds all heels. And no that’s not a typo!

Annette just returned from Seattle and Alaska where she had a good time but now has a cold. Welcome to the club. We here are having “the cold” work its way through each of us round and round. What I mean is that by the time one of us is getting better, bam, it’s circled back around and re-infected that person again! t’s been here so long that we’re thinking of naming it! Today it’s both Lori and me.

Last night Lori worked hard on dance decorations. Earlier in the day the boys wrapped up their homework and I ordered them up a pizza. Ty is playing the flute and Jagger has been not only elected to Student Council but was also elected as either VP or President for next year! Turns out it looks like he’s actually going to be the President of Student Council for his school. The current President is ‘grooming’ him (their words) now, which apparently they do so when he’s in 8th grade, he’s ready. We’re very proud of him.

Hope you all enjoyed the post yesterday. Lot’s going on, pray that cooler heads will prevail in this World, although I don’t have much faith in people in power these days. My opening paragraph pretty much says it all so I won’t go into the significance of the day as I think we all remember. Throughout history, man in general, especially those in power, has never been one to put aside all personal pursuits and do what’s in the best interest of humanity. Someday, hopefully before it’s too late, someone will.

That’s it for me. I don’t want to take away from the day by rambling. We hope you all are happy and well and can take a moment to give thanks for what you have. Take care, God Bless.

Here comes fall

Yup, it’s getting cooler. Now before I go to the activities of the day, I have a mini rant for you as you all are due.

Listen up people, here’s some stuff coming down the pike you need to prepare for. I know most of you don’t listen or don’t want to hear it, but I have to keep trying. So here we go.

1. Enterovirus — EV-D68, this mystery illness is primarily affecting children but also can infect the anyone and is spreading like wildfire across 13 states so far. Colorado is one of the two states hit the hardest. Wash you hands often with warm water and soap for at least 30 seconds. This is not good and you don’t want to get sick going into flu season.

2. Ebola Explodes, computer models show as many as 100,000 cases Worldwide by December. When it comes to pandemics, it only takes a little global connectedness to trigger a cascade of infections. The outbreak of Ebola raging in West Africa— labeled a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization—echoes a scenario mapped out by NECSI in 2006. In a computer simulation of pathogens and hosts, long-range routes of transmission — most prominently, international air routes — can allow the deadliest viral strains to outrun their own extinction, and in the process kill vastly more victims than they would have otherwise.

3. 11 Ways you know you live in a country run by idiots, this is fun!

1. If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally, you live in a country run by idiots.

2. If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion, you live in a country run by idiots.

3. If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote on who runs the government, you live in a country run by idiots.

4. If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy leaders in Egypt, you live in a country run by idiots.

5. If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat, you live in a country run by idiots.

6. If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched, you live in a country run by idiots.

7. If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more, you live in a country run by idiots.

8. If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of grade school for saying his teacher’s “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable, you live in a country run by idiots.

9. If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing and free cell phones, you live in a country run by idiots.

10. If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working, with 99 weeks of unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work, you live in a country run by idiots.

11. If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government, you live in a country run by idiots.

and last….

4.

megacity

A U.S. Army report warns that American troops need to be prepared to enter New York City and other global “megacities” in order to prevent civil unrest, political uprisings and protect key infrastructure and natural resources in the national interest.

The report, entitled Megacities and the United States Army (PDF), was released by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Strategic Studies Group.

Cautioning that the power of national governments to deal with the problems caused by increasing urbanization and the growth of megacities is “diminishing,” the report notes, “It is inevitable that at some point the United States Army will be asked to operate in a megacity and currently the Army is ill-prepared to do so.”

Given increasing concerns about martial law and the militarization of domestic law enforcement in the United States, some will be concerned to learn that one of these “megacities” where U.S. troops may operate is New York City.

Indeed, the report notes that, “It is plausible that the Army could be called to act in one of these places tomorrow. As their size and importance grows, it becomes probable.”

Reasons given for why U.S. troops may be sent into major cities to deal with social dislocation include “unrest,” “income disparity,” “natural disasters,” and “illicit networks” who challenge state power. According to the report, all of these problems will create “friction which compels future military intervention” that “will require boots on the ground.” Nice, troops roaming our streets to keep us safe??? Time to head to the hills!

And my favorite,

So there you have it, I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. Anyone see the flooding in Arizona? Some would say it’s historic or biblical as they haven’t had it this bad since the 1890’s. Hope Robi is ok!

Anyhow the whole point here is that we live in a changing World. The life you lived as a child is no longer and you need to be prepared for the changes all around you. No need to panic here as long as you adapt and take the precautionary steps to make sure you and your family are safe. Simple steps can be taken to counter some of the problems described above. You can stock up on some food and water, get a few extra medical supplies, wash your hands more often and even though I didn’t go there today, diversify your investments. If you have all your savings in stocks, get some out now! Let me repeat myself, do not keep all your money tied up in the stock market or in mutual funds that invest in the market. A correction is coming and by the time you recognize it, it’ll be too late to do anything about it. Ok, that’s it, not too bad, just a compilation of what you’d see on the major networks if you watched them all picking out the highlights, or should I say lowlights. I won’t even go into the Pres and his speech tomorrow night as it’s all just bull. Trust me, he’ll say what the masses want to hear and what’ll make him look better, whether it’s true or not.

Now to the day, Lori worked hard and then stopped to get some highlights in her hair, the boys had school and I interviewed 3 people on the phone today plus did all my work.

Today more of the same along with some cold weather and rain. Bob fell as I said and Eleanor said he banged up his elbow pretty good. Hope he gets better. Have a great day and God Bless.

Getting cooler

I guess Bob fell again! I don’t know why they don’t have him as a fall risk? Anyhow now they do, two falls late. Here’s a comment from Eleanor,

Eleanor Tafoya says:

I just missed mother Teresa by minutes when I got their.yesterday while I was there to take care of him, they gave him x-rays,their is no breakage.,I held his hand and let him rest, when the 49 ers won when he opened up his eyes,I told him they won! He smiled and put up his thumb.

Glad he’s doing better, not sure if she was there before or after his tumble. Man is getting old hell. It’s like it’s a cruel joke after living your life, slowly watching your once strong body get weaker and weaker. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m going to stay as active as long as I can.

Yesterday was more of the same. Lots of pressure around here, on multiple fronts. Not sure how things are going to turn out but all I can do is keep fighting every single day.

I won’t go into everyone’s cold or headaches as it’s getting old to write it and I’m sure old to read about it. The only thing “older” is the endless political ads with each side lying about the other. There must be a whole lot of gullible people otherwise they wouldn’t run them. Some of the claims you see in these ads are just unbelievable, yet people believe them!

Guess I’ll go, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

Did you say a prayer for your football team?

I did! The Bronco’s won but it was closer than it should have been, although they say Indianapolis will probably be in the AFC Championship game with us. Andrew Luck (Indy’s qb) is also my fantasy football quarterback so he’s a good one. In the end though, a win is a win, 31-24 Denver! By the way, our cornerback who had two interceptions when interviewed after the game, first said, “I got to thank God” and then the last thing he said when the interview came to a close was “God Bless you” to the NBC reporter. Guess he understands the importance of the day!

Earlier in the day jag and I went to the grocery store and then he had a baseball game and played well. He might turn into a pretty darn good pitcher if we get him some instruction. A coach who was helping out on our team (as his kids playing fall ball with us) said after warming up with Jagger, that he has a chance to play not only high school, but college ball, and then who knows. Jag doesn’t much care though, he just wants to hit.

Bob fell last night at 3am going to the bathroom and I guess cut up his arm a bit and hurt his leg. He also lost his hearing aid which they eventually found. Lori will be going back out in a couple of weeks and Dixie of course, who’s Mother Teresa reincarnated, has been helping out a lot.

Lori has been working relentlessly on decorations for the school dance and also found time to make a couple of gallons of homemade salsa to freeze with our fresh Colorado tomato’s and cooked up some great meatloaf, mashed potato’s and gravy for dinner. She says she’s not ready for another work week yet but we’re both back at it today.

Ty helped Mom around the house and then both boys roasted hot dogs over the fire we made in the front yard after the baseball game. That was about it, we all spelt in to 7:30 which is some kind of record. Hope everyone has a great week, take care and yes, God Bless.

Sunday, a day to rest, or…..

Sunday is the day of the week following Saturday but before Monday. For Christians, Sunday is observed as a day of worship of God and to rest, due to the belief that it is the Lord’s Day, the day of Christ’s resurrection. In some Muslim countries, Sunday is a normal working day whereas Friday is the day of rest, when Muslims go to jummah prayer. According to the Hebrew calendars and traditional Christian calendars, Sunday is the first day of the week, and according to the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 8601 Sunday is the seventh and last day of the week. No century in the Gregorian calendar starts on a Sunday, whether its first year is ’00 or ’01. The Jewish New Year never falls on a Sunday. (The rules of the Hebrew calendar are designed such that the first day of Rosh Hashanah will never occur on the first, fourth, or sixth day of the Jewish week; i.e., Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday).

So what are you doing today? Are you worshipping God or just resting? You see if you’re just resting, you should, in some way, according to our history, if you’re a Christian and not Muslim or Jewish, also worship the Lord. Now most people these days have forgotten all about the worship part but embraced the rest part wholeheartedly, but throughout history, until recently, one has always gone with the other. So when did it all change? I think it’s only like in the last 40 or 50 years that we forgot about the most important part. It’s not 1000 years ago as some might think, I’ll bet my Mom, when she was a young girl, always had some sort of worship on Sunday whether it was going to church or something else like a family gathering or dinner, where grace was most certainly said.  If you don’t remember this from your childhood, ask your parents, you might be surprised.

We must now ask ourselves, why did we stop giving even a brief thought as to what Sunday is supposed to be all about and turn it into only a day of games, rest, parties or whatever we do. I don’t know about you but I would suggest that it’s high time we think about the meaning of the day and take a look at how we give thanks to God for everything in our lives. Don’t be afraid to think about God or what you believe. It’s hard when you’ve gone for decades not giving it a thought, but it’s never too late! God is there for you, for all of us, just waiting for you to ask him into your life. You don’t have to do this out loud or discuss it with your spouse or for that matter, anyone, it’s just between you and our Lord Jesus Christ. Trust me, you’ll be better off and glad you did!

Ok, enough sermon for today. Yesterday we were busy all day. Between going to pick up a bunch of vegetables and a birthday party and dinner and Lori working all day long on decorations for the dance, we had not a moment to breathe. Finally at 7pm we were all home winding down with laundry still going. The boys were still in play mode and ran across the street to get in a few more hours of fun and games. Today we have baseball and more work around the house. Then this evening the Bronco’s are playing the Colts. We were going to go but I sold the tickets and gave the money to my Mom (she graciously buys them each year) as we’re all still kicking our colds and we’d be out way too late with work and school in the morning. We’ll go next week.

That’s it, hope you all are well, take care and God Bless you all!

Finally the weekend

Thank God it’s the weekend, boy do we need it. Today Jag has a birthday party from 2:30 until 5pm but before then he and I are headed up to Boulder to pick up 40 pounds of tomato’s and a bunch of other fresh veggies. We ended up with enough for 12 quarts of canned tomato’s and 12 of Colorado peaches last week and now I think we’ll make up some salsa and then freeze it.

Yesterday it rained again as it’s getting cooler. Jag did have baseball practice from about 4:30 until 5:45 when the rain forced it to end. Ty and I ran to the bookstore to get him Treasure Island. While there I couldn’t resist picking up a hunting magazine. Normally I don’t buy magazines as they’re too expensive but tis the season.

I did drop into Lori’s work yesterday as I was in the neighborhood, and dropped off some wine for all the girls. They were down two girls who were sick but they rest were there and thrilled.

Lori’s neck, head and body hurt. I think she has her cold still and then of course, our bed sucks.

Here’s a comment from Eleanor,

Eleanor Tafoya says:

Grandpa bob is going to watch the 49 ers in the big room ,with a big t.v. Screen,I am going to bring him his 49 er cap, for his sake I hope the 49 ers win.

Glad she’s bringing him his hat, her loves the 49rs, sure hope they win and that he’s feeling better.

After Jag’s party today we’re having a quick dinner at Elway’s (our favorite restaurant) so I can check on things as they pour our wines. Then we should be home by 7:30 or so to get some rest. Jag is up with me now but Lori and Ty are still sleeping.

That is it people, no politics today as it’s the weekend, take care and God Bless.

A bad night of football

That is, if you’re a Green Bay fan. The Seachickens beat the Packers soundly. On top of that, Green Bay’s running back has a concussion. There’s something about Seattle’s style of play that reminds me of college ball and it’s working. Oh well, hope Grandma didn’t throw anything at her tv. At least she only had to see it through one eye! Hope the 49’rs do better for Grandpa Bob!

It rained here hard last night, so hard, it woke me up. Lori and Ty now seem to have the worst colds as Jag and I have somewhat recovered. I have lots of computer work today and Lori has lots going on at the office. Jagger has a birthday party tomorrow, baseball practice tonight, and a game Sunday. Then we have the Broncos game Sunday night and it’s supposed to rain pretty much the whole time.

The hair on Mojo’s back from where they shaved him is finally growing back. Lori says lucky he can’t see it as he’d be embarrassed. He seems to be all better from his illness.

Lots of crap going on here we’re having to deal with but no point in sharing with you all as there’s not much you could do to help. It just hasn’t been a good few weeks but we’re trying to stay positive and come out of it smiling.

Time to run as Ty has math homework to finish. It’s almost 7am as we all slept in. Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

Get it out of the way

A cold, that is, referring to todays title. That’s what I’m trying to get out of the way. It seems everyone but me is pretty much better while my throat, nose and head is still going strong. Maybe I can skip the flu shot as I feel like I’ve been battling it for the past three days and should be immune.

The kids were back in school. Turns out the Harris kids were also sick but they were vomiting! Guess we were lucky. Lori had a wart or something cut off between her toes yesterday. They had to go real deep so it’s pretty sore. I had three or four calls after a morning appointment. Today will be more of the same.

Tonight NFL Football starts! I guess it’s Green Bay and Seattle which should be a pretty good game. It was over 100 degrees yesterday when I picked up Ty and it supposed to start getting cooler today.

On the World Stage, I don’t know where to start. Now our Pres is even contradicting himself in the same press conference???? Even dems are running away from him, not good for our Country. Guess I’ll just let it go for now but shit’s coming down, excuse my language.

Take care, say a prayer for our Country and everyone you care about and God Bless.

Government-to-government foreign aid promotes statism, centralized planning, socialism, dependence, pauperization, inefficiency, and waste. It prolongs the poverty it is designed to cure. Voluntary private investment in private enterprise, on the other hand, promotes capitalism, production, independence, and self-reliance.
