We’re off to Denver this morning around 7 am to run a few errands. Should be home by 2 if we’re lucky. Jagger had a great birthday yesterday. Ava made him a cake and cupcakes. We bought the two of them dinner last night.
We had a fun day and Marty and Melanie came by after going to Costco. They hung out for a few hours and Marty helped us wash our windows as he used to do that in college.
Earlier in the day we went back into the Village and took some wine and scotch to the store we were at yesterday. We did a trade out for store credit for some clothes. They have really cool stuff.
That’s about it, time to get moving. Have a great day, one week until Christmas! God Bless.
Today is Jaggers 22nd birthday, whoo hoo! With finals happening, he’ll be studying away. He had one yesterday, has one today, another tomorrow, and the last one Wednesday. Ava is making him birthday cupcakes today. We’ll sing happy birthday over the phone. Happy Birthday to our oldest son.
Today after dropping Ty, it’s back to the gym. Later today we’re going back to Axels, which is a super cool store in the village. We were there yesterday as we had a credit from last year. We found Lori a super cute black velvet vest, a great white shirt and a really great coat. They buy all their stuff in Europe. They’re a well-known shop in Vail that has been here forever. Stuff’s expensive, but really nice. We’re taking them some wine and doing a trade out for store credit! They’ll pour it for their customers, which is pretty common in the high-end stores up here.
Two crappy games yesterday, football and basketball. Oh well, onto next week. Lori and I are in Denver at the dermatologist tomorrow and then Ty and I are taking Tom to lunch on Tuesday, for his birthday. Last night Tom had a sleigh ride for all the neighbors. He found a girl with two Clydesdales and had her come over and he took most of the neighborhood for a sleigh ride. Mom did this some 25 years ago. Nice holiday fun for the neighborhood.
Nice up here, no snow, but it was a little cool yesterday morning. It did warm up during the day. Ty is working at Il Mago, our friend’s Italian restaurant, after he works at Hovey all day. Then he’s going to Maddie’s to spend the night and taking his board and will be on the mountain tomorrow. I’ll pick him up on the way to Denver Tuesday.
That’s it, time to go, make it a great day. A bunch of birthdays and two holidays in the next two weeks! Get ready! God Bless.
After a busy day, we made it to the Vilar Center about 5 minutes before the start of the show. Of course, the Nutcracker is a ballet so no talking or anything, just two hours of dance and music. There was an intermission about two thirds of the way through the show. The first half was a good story but the second half seemed like one big encore. Still, Hanna and Cora, our neighbor girls, we’re so cute and great. Hanna spotted us in the crowd sitting with her parents and waved during the show, ha. They had a couple professional guest performers but all others were kids from probably age 7 all the way up to seniors in high school, along with some older people who live in the valley. One of the lead girls, and we’re not judging, wasn’t quite as good as a number of the other girls. We couldn’t figure out why they kept featuring her. Oh well, it was enjoyable and a good holiday show. I’d personally never seen the Nutcracker in person.
Today Ty works at 7 so we’re up and moving. Big Bronco game tonight. Tom and I will be watching for sure. There are three football games today so I’ll be around the tv all day long.
Lori went to get her nails done yesterday and we both went to Costco earlier in the day. My 7:30am call with Texas, which I was up and ready for, is next Friday, ha. Better to be a week early than a week late!
That’s it for the day. Only 8 days until Christmas! Enjoy the season and God Bless.
Tonight we’re going with Nate and Dea to watch Hanna and Cora in the Nutcracker at the Vilar. Should be fun as the kids are adorable and love us. It’s funny as we’re now those old people that the neighborhood kids come and visit and hang out with. Yesterday was a busy day with my call and some errands. On my way to cigar night, I stopped at Ty’s work and tasted Chandler on 4 wines they’re bringing in to sell. Then five of us hung out until around 6:30 when we headed for home.
James texted around 5 saying he was at the airport in Dubai waiting four hours for his flight back to Denver. He should be landing around noon as it’s about a 16 hour flight. Way too long for me. He’ll need a couple days to decompress from this one.
I have a conference call with Texas at 7:30 this morning so Lori is taking Ty to work at 6:30 and then she’ll go to the gym. One of our other neighbors, Michelle, loves to wrap presents so she wrapped all of Lori’s stuff yesterday. Nice right! I need to get Robi’s box off maybe today but probably Monday.
At cigar night, Marty told us he was in Target in Denver, and they’re now selling vibrators or dildos in the pharmacy! Hard to believe it, but it’s true. I told him let’s go buy them all and then when someone cuts us off in traffic or pisses us off, we can hand them one and tell them to go fuck themselves! Pretty good idea right? Unbelievable that now, next to the Advil, you can buy a dildo in Target. We’ve advanced so much as a Country, ha.
That’s about it. Not sure how I can top that. Have a great Friday and God Bless.
Won’t be long until Christmas! Ten days until the night before Christmas, or should I say, Christmas Eve! Yesterday I was in Denver by 9:15 and through with my errands and at Rocky Mt. Airport, picking up Dea’s mom, by 11:20. We made it to Edwards by 2 where I met up with Dea and the girls to hand her off. I then ran into Hovey to grab a coffee and a sandwich and said hi to Ty, before heading home.
I had to be back in Edwards by 5 to pick up Ty, so I called Mark and we met up for a smoke at James house around 3:30. It’s 4:30 in the afternoon in Saudi Arabia right now and James should be playing sometime soon. Not sure if it’s a day or night show. He might have already put in his hour and 45 minutes and be on the way back to Dubai. I forgot to ask.
Ty works at 8 this morning and we have the cleaners coming at 9:45 and I have a call at 10. I should be done by noon or so. I dropped a birthday present at Jagger’s house, in his room, for his birthday, as Lori wanted him to have something to open on Sunday. He’s in full on study mode until about the 20th when he’s done. His finals start this Saturday.
Nice weather up here, just about perfect for December. Little to no snow cover on the ground, the roads are dry, and the temps are in the 40’s each day. It’s supposed to stay this way at least through Christmas. Wish it’d stay this way all winter. The deer and elk are loving it as they’re still able to graze as all the grass isn’t covered with snow. They need a mild winter as the last two were pretty tough for them.
Cigar night tonight. We’ll all meet up around 4 or 4:30. Always good to get together with the guys. Big meteor shower tonight after midnight, if you’re up. Make it a great day and God Bless.
I’m off at 7 headed down the mountain for some business. I should be done by 10 and then am picking up Dea (my neighbors) mom at Rocky Mountain Airport in Boulder and bringing her back up with me. She’s coming in from California to help with the kids as the big Nutcracker Ballet, which we’re all going to, starts this Friday with the kids in it. Dea called me just taking a shot asking if by chance I was going to Denver tomorrow. Lucky for her, I am!
I managed to get all my stuff done yesterday by 11 or so and was home around 1. I picked up Ty on my way as I was passing through Vail. He works today at 8. Jag is busy studying for finals and has them starting Saturday through next Wednesday.
It was foggy in Denver but nice in the mountains. Think it’s more of the same today. 5:43 am now, so time to get moving. I’ll leave at 7 and Lori and Ty will leave at 7:30. She works in Frisco today. That’s it, have a great day and 12 days until Christmas! God Bless.
Headed down the hill today, and actually again tomorrow. But today, I’m dropping the truck off at the dealer for an oil change and then headed to the mall to return some stuff. Yesterday I ran over to Aspen and picked up a couple of Jagger’s sweaters we ordered, and to get a security tag taken off some Lulu Lemon Lori bought for one of our neighbor girls. Last, and most important, I picked up Robi’s present which finally came in.
Yesterday Ty was on the mountain digging his new board and Lori was at work. Think Ty is getting in another day of shredding (slang for snowboarding) today and I’ll pick him up on the way home. After the mall, I’m having lunch today with my buddy Luke who I’ve known for years. He’s one of the top 1911 builders in the Country. With luck, I should be home around 2.
Still working through the Company reorg, lots of challenges and some won’t be pleasant, but sometimes business requires tough decisions. All part of adapting with the changing buying patterns of the consumer due to the ever-changing economy.
Time to get moving, have a great day and God Bless.
After getting stuff done around the house in the morning, and running Ty to the mountain, I settled in to watch the Bronco game. Man it was fun. Our defense played lights out and our offense did well too. We’ve now won 6 out of the last 7 games which is almost unheard of in the NFL. On to next Saturday and the Lions.
Dr. B is finally back from Nepal. Lori will be in the office the next three days. I’m in Denver tomorrow getting the oil changed on the truck and running some errands.
I heard Robi is going to be a grandma! It’s just strange even writing that, but congrats!
Clear up here and not that bad temperature wise outside. Jag has a busy week with a bunch of finals on Saturday. Ty is off today and tomorrow and works Wednesday. He found a snowboard he liked yesterday in town after getting off the mountain, so we let him get it for Christmas. His was about a foot too short for him and we’re all for anything that has him outside exercising.
I have a bunch of work to do as we’re changing things up with the Company as I mentioned a month or so ago. We’ll probably let some people go as the way we sell wine has changed and some people just don’t fit their role anymore. It won’t be easy as everyone has been with me at least 10 years, some 20. Still, you have to adapt with the changing times to make it these days.
That’s it, time to get moving. We slept in a bit and it’s 7:15 now. Have a great day and week and God Bless.
By the afternoon, the snow had stopped. We didn’t get much, just enough to cover the driveway. The roads though, were super icy and slick. Trucks and cars littered the highway for most of the day. At one point, after we went to the gym, I-70 to Eagle was closed, so we ate breakfast slower than usual. Soon, one of those huge truck tow trucks, had pushed the semi that spun out and was blocking the road, into the median so the highway could be open.
In the afternoon, Lori wrapped presents for the boys. Tuesday I’m getting my oil changed so I’ll be doing some last-minute shopping. Jag has a big week with finals this coming Saturday. I do too as we’re shaking up the Company going into next year. You have to constantly change with the times, as these days as if you don’t, you’ll go down right along with the economy.
I just went outside and heard our local pack of coyotes. They were closer than usual although I couldn’t see them. They had to be within a few hundred yards.
We’re having our annual cigar group Christmas party on the 21st this year. Should be fun. Everyone looks forward to it, and Lori’s cooking. Windy today they say. Ty is off and I’m taking him to get a new snowboard which is his main Christmas present. He’ll probably be on the mountain this afternoon. His old board is just too short for him.
Looks pretty dry snow wise for the next ten days all the way up to Christmas Eve. No measurable moisture according to the weatherman. But we all know how accurate they can be, ha.
That’s it, time to go, have a great Sunday and Go Broncos! God Bless.
Happy Birthday to dad. Not sure how old he’d be, He was born in 1928 so I guess that’d make him 95 today. He was one of the great men that most people didn’t know about. To put it in perspective, he was a better man than any of the jokers in the Congress or the Administration, hands down. It isn’t even close and that’s 100% true. I often wonder what he’d say about the state of the Country and World right now. When I struggle with a tough decision, I find myself asking, “what would dad do”. Sure miss him.
Yesterday I made it down and up in good time. I didn’t hit any snow until I left Ty, after lunch at 3 pm. I picked up 5 ounces of gold for Tommy from my guy and dropped them to him on the way home. Smart move to stock some precious metals. We do it whenever we have some spare cash. It’s a good hedge against inflation.
Today we’re hanging around home. My back is sore from shoveling yesterday. It wasn’t a lot of snow, I just tweaked it. I’ll stretch it out at the gym after we drop Ty.
8 days until Jagger’s birthday, 10 until Tommy’s and 20 until mine! That’s it, have a great day and God Bless and Happy Birthday dad!
