All good

Lori’s procedure went fine. It doesn’t seem as bad as the last time she did it but I haven’t seen her this morning. It’s usually a bit worse a few days after. Before her appointment, Jag met us at Whole Foods and picked up the camera. We then stopped at Ty’s and dropped him some groceries before dropping Lori off around 11:45. I then washed the truck and ran a few other errands before picking her up around 2:30. That put us home at 4:30.

Today we’ll hang out and take it easy. Lori needs to stay out of the sun and can’t put on makeup for 7 days. No way I’d have that done to my face.

Two wolves were found up by the ranch. Not good. The ranchers and people that live up there are not happy but of course the libs in Denver and Boulder think they’re so cute as they don’t have to live with them.

I think I’ll organize the basement today and maybe go to the range for some practice as it’s finally warm enough to get outside. Maybe I’ll clean the garage, we’ll see.

Looks like there are two spy balloons from China over the U.S. Imagine if they were from Russia, they would have been shot down as soon as they found them. But no, we’ve been tracking them before they hit our shores and for some reason (Biden) we’re ok with them flying over our military bases, wow. Can’t make this stuff up.

Time to go, enjoy the weekend, and God Bless.

2/3/23

Here’s another weird one! I’m sure today’s date means something to numerologists but I don’t know what it is. Still though, sounds weird, 2/3/23. Normally this weekend would be the Super Bowl. It seems late this year but as I said before, I could care less.

Today Lori and I are headed to Denver as she’s getting a laser treatment on her face. This is the big one where she looks like a burn victim with her face all bloody as they basically burn off the top layer of skin. No thanks. She’ll be home for a week and go back to work a week from Tuesday. Jag is meeting us as I’m letting him use my black and white Leica camera. It’s a super cool camera and he’s excited about getting to know it and taking pictures. It’s a professional fixed lens camera Leica sent me that sells for like $6K! I’ve been taking an on line course that Jag will go through too, to learn how to use it. I have another cooler one they sent me (good to have friends) but I need a lens. Not sure if I’ll have time to get down to see Ty or not as I don’t know how long Lori’s in for.

Marty, James Rush and I had cigars last night at James’s house. He had a little procedure that we all have when we’re over 50 years old and was recuperating at Addy’s house, ha. Marty then came over as I had put some beef ribs in the oven at noon.

My partners had a great meeting in Atlanta (the one I set up a few months ago) on the 1st. Big things happening but more on that later. Today Brian and Josh head to Italy and France and Kay (my other partner) goes tomorrow on vacation as he’s been dating Angela who has worked for us for over 10 years. I could have gone but decided I’ll wait until it warms up.

Speaking of warming up, 35 degrees felt like 70 after the last few weeks. I think it’s 1 outside right now but doesn’t feel all that cold. I’m purposely staying away from politics but man, shit is messed up. From the border and the endless stream of drugs and illegals the cartels are trafficking into the Country, to the Biden crime syndicate, his entire family, (Trump would be in prison by now) to spy balloons over Montana and North Dakota where our bombers and nukes are based, things are not good. All of Mexico is a Narco State with everyone, and I mean everyone, on the take, and they’re abusing our government and Country to rake in billions. As of now you have to look at everyone on the street, who you don’t know, as a potential threat. We’re heading down a path of destruction and no return if we don’t get a handle on things, (starting with closing the border) asap. So much for staying away from politics. Things are so in our face, no one can ignore the mess we’re in. 70% of American’s now say the government is the number one problem, hmm.

That’s it, time to go as it’s 6:15 and Lori just woke up. Enjoy the day, stay safe, be well and watch your top knot! God Bless.

Warming up

Yesterday when I was in Boulder, kids were wearing shorts! It was still 30 to 40 but degrees but that’s a lot warmer than it’s been. I saw Jag for just a moment to drop him his glasses. He’s doing well. I missed Ty on this trip but am taking Lori down tomorrow for a dermatologist appointment. I think I’ll go see him then.

The roads and traffic were fine. I’m holding off on putting my topper on as Kevin at Stevinson called and just ordered up three new trucks. One for him, one for Kent Stevinson and one for me if I want it. My 2022 has 40,000 miles on it so I might swap them out. I’ll check it out when it comes in. It’s a wash financially if I do it. The interior is upgraded, finally, which is a big plus. They’re scheduled to be built March 6th so it’d be April at the earliest. We’ll see.

Lori wants to go to the gym so time to get moving. It’s Ground Hog Day and according the Punxsutawney Phil, six more weeks of winter are in store for us. Can’t remember when that damn ground hog said there wasn’t six more weeks of winter! Oh well, time to get moving, enjoy the day and God Bless.

2/1/23

Here we go! February 2023, sounds surreal. It’s 5:42 am and I’m headed to Boulder and Longmont in 45 minutes so no time to waste. Yesterday Lori worked until probably 6 or later as she was home around 7. I did some work around the house and went to the gym and did two miles on the treadmill and lifted a few weights.

Jag’s glasses came in and he’s so excited. That’s why I’ll be coming back through Boulder, to drop him his glasses. No new snow and the cold snap is finally over for a week at least. It was cold, even for me. I had to put a hat on yesterday morning to shovel as it was 8 below zero.

Big news of the day is the Broncos have a new coach! We landed Sean Peyton who was the New Orleans Saints coach and regarded as the best out there, we’ll see. At minimum, we now have hope! Nuggets won also! It was a good sports day!

Time to go, my coffee is getting cold and I need to warm it up. Have a great day, God Bless.

Mom’s birthday

Today is Mom’s 90th birthday! Whoo hoo. If she was here, we’d be having a big party! We’ll celebrate for her. When we were younger, it was also around the last week before Mom and Dad would go to Arizona for three months. Usually we’d go right after the Super Bowl. I’ll bet Mom would go early this year with the game on the 12th. I think we’re going to go down in a month or so, probably right after Spring Training ends. Oh, catchers and pitchers report next week! That means Spring is getting closer!

Dixie called me at 2am needing help getting out of or moving the motorhome. She thought she was parked somewhere and needed to move it, ugh. Last night was probably the best nights sleep Lori and I had in weeks, up until 2am! Damn. Lori will stop and see her this morning.

We had a dusting of snow, maybe an inch, last night. I think that’s it until next week if we’re lucky. I’m in Denver tomorrow, actually Longmont. Thursday I’m getting my topper from South Africa put on the truck. I ordered it last March! I have a black one going on my white truck to go with my black wheels. I ordered the rest of the truck blacked out too so it should look good. It’s made of solid steel unlike all others you can buy that are plastic.

It sure is dark for 6:30 in the morning these days. I thought with Day Light Savings Time it’d be lighter earlier. Not sure why it’s not this year. It gets dark earlier, that’s for sure. As the days get longer, it’ll stay light more. Another advantage of Spring.

Time to go shovel. Lori is working in Edwards today. I need at least $50K to close the month out. Wish me luck, God Bless.

Here’s one of my favorite pictures of me, Mom and Tom.

Crappy games

Yesterday was a let down as far as football was concerned. The first game was just one of those games and the second of course, had all the calls go against the Bengals and for the Chiefs. The NFL of course wanted Philly and the Chiefs and they got what they wanted. We were talking and none of us really have an interest in the Super Bowl this year. Oh well, on to next year.

It’s 20 degrees or more up here but somewhere near zero in Denver. Marty came over and watched the game with us and left about 8. Before that we went to Costco and earlier in the day, hit the gym. Jagger just called on the way home from the gym. He’s been going in the mornings before class.

Tomorrow is the last day of the month. Two weeks from tomorrow and we’ll be in mid-February. Here we go. Lori is going to the office today and I have a couple calls. That’s about it, another day. Enjoy and GB.

Finally, FOOTBALL!

Today we have two games, and they’ll probably be better than the Super Bowl which is two weeks from today. By the way, two weeks from today will be February 12th which will be 2 days short of halfway through the month!

Yesterday we hung out here for most of the day. We tried to go to the gym but the highway was closed from about 6am to noon due to a semi that crashed on the highway. No new snow here. It’s cold in Denver but not so bad up here.

Ty slept in yesterday as he went to Denver Health in the middle of the night the night before last as his friend was jumped and mugged walking home from a club Friday night. Nothing good happens after midnight and that’s especially true in the cities. I’d rather take my chances with mountain lions and coyotes up here than the “animals” (sarcasm) in the cities. Up here if I shoot one, I’m probably not going to court.

The games start at 1 this afternoon! That gives us time to get some things done this morning. I have a call with Jake up in Wyoming sometime this morning. I’ve known Jake for 20 years as his family lived next to our ranch on the Wyoming side and has been there for over 100 years. Jake is a real cowboy and knows horses like nobody else. I think we’re going to go together on some ranch horses to make some side money. We’ll buy them and Jake will raise and train them and then they’ll go to one of the big ranch horse sales where we’ll sell them. This doesn’t sound like much but if you have the right guy (Jake) and buy the right colt for a few thousand dollars, you can sell them for $15-$30K in a year making a nice profit for both of us. It’s just one of our side hustles these days. We’re also looking at getting half a dozen black angus cows that another friend who now lives down east of Pueblo, will raise and we should make another $10-$20K down there. Too bad dad isn’t around, I’m sure he’d love to be part of this. It’s actually very low risk if you have the right people as partners and we’ve known both of these friends for 20 years plus and 100% trust them. More to come in the next month or two but now is the time ranchers are looking for calves and colts.

Nowadays you need a few side hustles to make it. Our hope is that we can earn enough to pay for one of the boys college costs each year.

Dixie is doing fine. She stayed in bed most of the day as it was a gloomy day. A 4 Star General predicted yesterday we’ll be at war with China by 2025. What is the World coming to? Five black cops, obviously bad cops, beat up a black man during a traffic stop in Memphis who later died, and get this, the liberal media are blaming white people and the GOP for his death! One so called journalist is even blaming Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida? Even though this was black on black crime, somehow it’s white people’s fault. Give me a break.

So as you can see, all’s good in the World, wow. Now we can’t let ourselves get consumed 24/7 with all the bad and negativity going on. The majority of the people in the World are good people. The lesson here is to be aware of the bad ones and try to make a difference by being one of the good ones! Good luck! Enjoy the day and God Bless.

Here’s our friend Jake and his wife, great people.

Winding down

January is almost over. Bring on February. February is a good month but it does bring property taxes, our Bronco tickets bill, and a shorter month to get things done. Good news is after February is March, the beginning of Spring. Beware though, they say March is the snowiest month in Colorado!

It’s snowing lightly and we have less than 2 inches on the ground. It is cloudy out though. We stopped and visited with Dixie yesterday afternoon. She told us there are thousands of little bugs in her place and when we pressed her as to where they are, she told us you can’t see them as they’re so small. We at first thought there might be some tiny carpet bugs but then she said she’s the only one that can see them. Ah. She had a few other moments that didn’t make sense but was happy and that’s all that counts. They’re back to wearing masks at her building as apparently covid is back down there.

We went to Costco yesterday and picked up some groceries. We could use a trip to the regular grocery store too. Football tomorrow, hope they’re good games. Time to get moving, enjoy the day, God Bless.

A fun day

I made it down to the warehouse around 10am and met up with my buddy Toby about 30 minutes later. After that I headed to Tommy’s to drop off Jagger’s drivers license as I didn’t have time to drive up to Boulder. We hung out for a bit and then I headed down to pick up Ty for lunch. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered up way too much food. All good though as Ty took it all home with him and feasted on it for the rest of the day.

I stopped in Frisco on the way home for a coffee and was home around 4:30. The house was clean and shiny from the cleaners and Lori was working away. I was then on the phone until about 7:30 working to get ready for my 2023 planning call this morning at 10.

Today we’ll head to the gym first and be back sometime around 9. Cold weather and possibly a little snow is headed our way, so they say. Denver is going to get the brunt of it. Not sure where all the global warming is this year. Sure doesn’t seem to be playing out that way.

Time to get moving and get the misses up. She’s still sleeping, must need it. Make it a great day, God Bless.

Lunch

I’m headed to the warehouse to pick up some samples and then am having lunch with Ty at Sushi Sasa. Not sure if Jag can make it down or not. Lori is staying home as the cleaners are coming and she has some work to do. Not much snow yesterday, just enough of an icy snow mix to mess up the roads. It’s all dry now.

Not much else going on. Just the usual. Dixie is doing fine. She had a good day. Lori worked late and was home about 7pm. Ty had a 3.5 GPA in his first semester! All A’s and B’s! That is fantastic news! He really worked hard and we’re super proud of him. Jag had all A’s which is pretty much the norm for him, super proud of him as well. Time to get moving, enjoy the day, GB.

Check out this pic, kind of grainy but it’s Grandma’s old cabin at the lake in Wisconsin, probably the late 60’s. What fun times.
