Here we go

Tomorrow is June and of course last night we had a light freeze. I brought in all the hanging plants but the ones in the ground had to tough it out. Jag starts school today, Ty is looking for a job and I’m driving down to the farm. Not sure if Lori is going into work as Dr. B is off to the Bahamas for a lecture. He had covid but is now negative. Not sure if Molly, his wife, has tested negative yet, so she can go with him.

Yesterday our big party turned into us and Marty. James was sleeping all day and the kid’s friends turned out to be no shows. Ty went to the last grad party after dinner and will be home at 7am this morning.

In about 90 days it’ll be September, wow. I need to go load 100 dozen glass jars into the truck and then shower and head out to Grand Junction so time to go. take care, be safe and God Bless.

Memorial Day

Today is the day to give thanks and to honor to all those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Without them, you would have had a very different life. It always amazes me how men (and women) step up in the face of adversity and death and put their lives on the line without even thinking about it. For those that do make it home, many are forgotten or ignored by society when what we should be doing is showing them gratitude and going out of our way to make sure they’re alright. It’s a fact that a high percentage of the homeless are veterans. I know it’s not Veterans Day today but many of those turn to suicide due to lack of care, which can and should be prevented. In any case, today is a day to remember all those that gave so you could live!

We’re having a bbq with friends and some of the kids friends. I’m firing up the smoker in a couple hours after a trip to the gym. Last Friday I was stung by a wasp and man does it itch. I have a big red circle on the inside of my bicep where the thing got me. Hard to believe such a little animal could have such a big bite. At least I now know I’m not one that’ll have a severe allergic reaction.

James finished a show in Boston around midnight last night and headed straight to his plane and landed about 3am here. I texted him and told him “I won’t be picking you up”, ha. Melanie had to go out of town for work this morning so Marty will come over too. We’ve had good rain the past few days. Lori and I said glad we didn’t go camping as this would have been a weekend where you just stayed in your tent.

Time to get going, make it a great day. Too bad you are not closer as we’ll be eating good this afternoon. Lori made cheesecake yesterday too! God Bless.

All is calm

6am, everyone is sleeping. I woke to a light pattering of rain on the roof. Looking outside it’s so quiet and peaceful. Sort of like the mountains are covered with a blanket of mist and clouds oozing moisture. Reminds me of Italy in the Fall. I fed Harley, made my coffee and went and stood outside on the patio to take it all in. It’s not cold, but it is cool. It’s refreshing. It feels like waves of life move through your body and soul. It’s good to be alive. Weather will do that to you.

Lately we’ve been thinking about how our lives will change with both boys off to college. Some friends bought motorhomes, others downsized and moved. For some, life didn’t change. For us, it’s bigger than that. It’s more a question of what’s it all mean. Not to get too deep but what’s the meaning of it all? Can one feel more fulfilled, more full of life, more satisfied? Is there a higher meaning or consciousness? When you’re on the downhill side of life, I suppose it’s normal to think this way. We just have never had the time to stop and think we were on that side of the hill, ha. I know a guy in San Francisco who quit his job, sold his house and took his wife and moved to Maui where they bought a t-shirt shop. Now he spends his days in the sun and surf basically hanging out. One thing’s for sure, none of us are getting any younger, no matter how good we feel or how hard we try to stay young. You can’t stop time. So I guess the point of waking to the calm, serene World outside is to just embrace it. Or as they say, stop and smell the roses.

The boys were both out late, living the life. We try to remember when we were their age and what we did and cut them as much slack as possible. They too should be able to embrace these years and live life to the fullest. Especially these days when all seems to be changing, and not for the better. We’ll head to the gym as it makes us feel good. Then we’ll stop at our regular breakfast stop before heading home to do some things around the house. The Monaco Grand Prix is about to start in southern France. This is a big deal in Europe. European royalty is out in full force. The rain there is picking up, just like at our Kentucky Derby, Indy 500 or any other famous annual event. It’s like God always says, don’t forget about me!

Lee and Margaret came by last night and brought Ty a graduation card filled with money! They’re so nice and good to have close. The sky is turning blue with the sun kissing the tops of the mountains. The colors of green, blue and white are so bright it’s like the best painting you could ever imagine. Another reminder of how small we are in the grand scheme of things. Time to get moving and get out there and embrace life. Enjoy the day and weekend. Don’t think too much, just do. God Bless.

All done!

It was a great day and a great evening. Most of the day was spent getting ready to go to graduation but I did go get the beef ribs at 6am in Denver. It was a quick trip as I was home by 10 before the boys even woke up!

Around 3:30 we headed out and even though we had to park in the parking structure in town and take the shuttle bus to the event, there was almost no one on the bus! That’s how late we were, ha. We did get seats and soon it all began. The ceremony was only about 90 minutes long and enjoyable. All the kids looked great. After it was over we took some pictures and headed out to Beaver Creek for dinner. Jag, Lori and I made it to the restaurant about 30 minutes before Ty and ordered up some appetizers. All the while we were listening to the hockey game. Now this is going to sound weird but it’s 100% fact. I’ve predicted the score of the last 4 hockey games perfectly before the any of the games started. One of them I had the winner wrong, hmmm, but still had the score right. I told Tom last night we were going to win 3 to 2 at the start of the game and sure enough with 5 seconds left in the game, we scored giving us a 3 to 2 victory and a win in the series. I decided if I was betting money though, I’d probably be 0 and 4. Anyhow it was a great game and we’re all thrilled the Av’s won.

Dinner was great. Ty had to rush out at 9 to pick up Zoe as all the kids had to be at the after party by 10pm and couldn’t leave early until it was over. This was a school sanctioned event. Rules were in by 10, out at 1. I guess they extended it until 2am but all was great and all the kids were safe. You always hear stories of some poor kids getting in a crash or something bad right after graduation. The school wanted to make sure that didn’t happen up here. They had raffles and gave away big time prizes, had a top dj and other stuff the kids would think was cool. It was $25 a kid but that’s nothing to make sure all are safe and sober. Ty made it home around 2am as Lori woke up and made him food. Some things never change.

So both our boys are out of school. In the Fall it’ll just be Lori and me, empty nesters. She’s already looking at adopting a stray dog, noooo! Good news is both boys are in State and close and will come home often. We’re really happy about that!

This weekend we’re just hanging out. We will have a bbq on Monday. First up is heading to the gym. Time to get moving. Hope all’s well. Enjoy the day and be thankful for all those who have served and pray for those that are. Make it a great weekend. God Bless.

Graduation

Here we go, the ceremony is at 4;30 today meaning we need to leave around 3:30 at the latest. After graduation, we’re going to Splendido in Beaver Creek for dinner. It’s 5:15am now as I’m off in 45 minutes to Edwards Meat Market in Denver for our Memorial Day bbq meat. I should be back by 10 as I plan on getting there at 8 and turning right around and heading up the hill to hopefully beat the weekend traffic.

Ty had friends over last night. Tonight there’s a big party until 2am or something. Some parents or the school are putting it on. We’re all excited for him.

Warm yesterday, mid 80’s. More today. Time to go so I can shower and hit the road. God Bless.

Graduation Eve

Tomorrow is the big day. Think the ceremony is from 4:30 to 7:30. Weather looks good. So does our driveway! We had to park all four cars on the street last night but can park back in the driveway now as it’s been 24 hours since we had it resurfaced.

Lori is still sick with a cold. She woke me up last night from coughing on and off so finally at 3:29am I headed to the couch. Hope she feels better today.

Ty was out most of the day at graduation practice and hanging with friends. Jag and I went to lunch and then he went to work out at the gym We lost the hockey game in overtime, ugh. Next game is tomorrow during graduation.

Almost 7 am, think I’ll get off the couch and head to the gym. Going to be warm today, warmer tomorrow. Not many days left in May. Hope everyone has fun Memorial Day plans. We’ll bbq something. Have a great day, God Bless.

Rehearsal

Today Ty has graduation rehearsal at noon. Friday I think at 4;30 in Vail is the ceremony. We’re all excited for him. Soon he too will be off to college. Hard to believe when you think about it.

Last night I went to sleep a little after 8pm. I haven’t had much sleep lately as the kids have been coming home late waking us up. I needed to try to catch up a bit. Lori and I could sleep all day if we had the time, ha.

Good things happening at work. I’ll leave it at that, but we have some exciting new partnerships with some major companies.

This morning the driveway is getting resealed. I think they basically put a new coat of tar down on the asphalt. We need all the cars off the driveway by about 8 and then it needs to dry for 24 hours. Should look good when it’s done.

Time to get moving, hope everyone is doing well, take care and God Bless.

late night

Tom and I were up late watching the Avalanche crush the St. Louis Blues. We’re up 3 games to 1 and should win the series but it’s never over until it’s over. The guy St. Louis fans have been sending death threats to, (nice), scored 3 goals! Game 5 is tomorrow here in Denver.

Today Jag and I might run to Grand Junction or we might go tomorrow. Waiting to see what the weather is. Kind of cloudy right now. Lori has a cold with a stuffy nose and sore throat. No vid as she tested herself yesterday. Dixie is ok, just confused as usual. Ty needs to clean out his la crosse locker today and has graduation rehearsal tomorrow. Also think we’re getting the driveway resealed tomorrow. It takes a day to dry so we’ll all need to park on the street.

Now Crazy Joe is proud of the high gas prices. Yesterday he gloated that it’s a necessary thing we must all go through so we can come out of it stronger after we eliminate fossil fuels, wow. Throw in the 2 new cold wars he’s started with Russia and China and he’s busy! And yet you have democrats on tv saying just what a great job he’s doing. And they say it with such a straight face. They should all be in Hollywood. Fear not though as we will prevail. America is tough and so are Americans. It’s just so sad when our own government is the one trying to destroy us. Hang in there, God Bless.

Here we go

Busy week, last week of the month, graduation and Memorial Day are all ahead. Hard to believe it’s almost June. Yesterday was a blur, it went fast. Ty had a bunch of friends over last night to watch some movies and hang out. They left around 10:30. The only one I knew was Issy. Jag went to the gym in the late afternoon.

Lori isn’t feeling well as she has a sore throat and woke us up several times during the night. She has to be at work by 8:30 this morning. She did take Dixie to get her nails done yesterday. That’s a chore in itself.

Watch out as Biden will be pushing the Monkeypox pandemic soon. 200 cases Worldwide, 2 in the U.S. and zero deaths anywhere, and it’s been around for years, but don’t worry, that won’t stop them. Watch for them trying to push mail in voting or some other restrictions or lockdown or vaccine to help them this Fall. By the way, this is mostly prevalent among gay men. Also if you had the smallpox vaccine when you were a kid, you should be fine. Hopefully people won’t fall for it. Vaccine compliance is at an all time low as less and less people are trusting anything Biden says. Again, think for yourself!

Oh and to continue Biden’s list of blunders, yesterday he said the U.S. will go to war with China if they attack Taiwan! His handlers quickly tried to walk this back but he doubled down when asked by a reporter who thought, no way he said that! So here’s a guy that called for regime change in Russia and now basically threatened to go to war with China. China quickly responded and won’t back down. They’re not afraid of anyone, especially Biden. Good God, help us. Don’t let this guy talk!

Hockey tonight, Go Av’s! Think it’s on around 7:30 pm. Time to get moving, make it a great week, God Bless.

Big Win

Yesterday was busy as usual. Seems like each day just gets away from you with chores, errands and things that pop up unexpectedly. We went to the gym, breakfast, then walked Harley a couple miles all in the morning. Soon it was noon. We visited Dixie, grilled up all those burgers and then watched the Av’s crush the Blues 5 to 2. Ty and Jag both went out.

Today more of the same. Soon we’re off to the gym and then will clean some around the house. All the snow melted, and we’ll put the plants back outside today. They’ve been in the garage for two nights. Lori did plant some bulbs yesterday. I’ll also go see Kellie, our egg girl, and pick up 3 or 4 dozen eggs.

Time to get moving, Lori just brought me coffee and it’s already 7:15. Almost June, wow. Here we go, summer is on the way. God Bless.
