Snow next week

Wow, really? Snow? I need to get the dogs a new dog house or some kind of set up in the garage or in the house. Here we go. Lori will miss it as she’ll be with her mom in California.

Ty has in person school today and Lori is doing some sort of photo shoot at a cross fit gym with a patient who had surgery. I think it’s our cousin’s wife Lindsey. Small World.

James’s procedure went well and was fast too. He was out by 10:15 and we were back in Vail by 11. This time is went better too. Tomorrow he and I are off to Aspen for a quick trip.

Everything is on short supply these days. The news just said laptops are now hard to find. Mike, a buddy who owns a bike shop said he can’t get bicycles. Just about everything is drying up. Remember the toilet paper shortage, well, stock up. Food too. You’ve been warned. We never let up as staying well stocked is now a way of life for us.

The CDC and Dr. Fauci said two days ago that only 6% of the deaths called covid are actually only from covid. That means 9600 out of the 180,000 are directly because of covid. All others, over 170,000, had some other complication that caused their death. Hmm. Does this change your view? For some, yes, for others, they’ve been too conditioned by the news and the hype that they won’t believe it even though a few months ago they were turning their lives upside down based on what these same people, the CDC and Dr. Fauci, said. Funny how people think and process things. A University is doing a study on why people feel this way. It’s pretty simple, it’s because they’re scared.

On top of that, in cities, people are also scared but for another reason. They don’t feel safe from all the violence and protests. This is why Trump will and should win the election. Feeling safe is more important to people over all other issues. Moving companies in major cities are booked out months with people trying to get out. Can’t blame them. Strange times.

Well, time to get moving. Crazy shit going on. I’m breaking in a new holster for one of my carry tools. Lots to do. Lori leaves Sunday. Be well, be safe and God Bless.

Up early

I’m off in 50 minutes to take James for round two of his neck injections to Frisco. Yesterday Lori and I made it through a few more piles of stuff. We’ll be donating a bunch to our local antique shop today.

It’s cool this morning which is so nice. Yesterday was a great day too, about 70 degrees which is perfect. Jag is well and so is Ty. I’m on the hunt for a dog house today. I have a pile of trash outside waiting to be picked up Friday.

Time to get moving. Be well, live each day to the fullest, God Bless.

September 1, 2020

Here we go. Are you ready? A month from today we could be sitting in snow! Hell, last night we had snow above 11,000 feet. Time to get a dog house. Yesterday Romerio came by and put the metal sheet on the dog run door. I think in a few days Chris starts the bbq.

I’m off to Denver and Boulder today while Lori heads to Vail for work. Tomorrow I need to take James for another round of injections over to Frisco. Ty is home today which is a good thing as some people are coming by to pick up a few more things. I found some really great stuff of Grandpa’s yesterday from World War One in 1917. Fun stuff. I think I’ll drop some things to our framer today.

Jag is doing well. We miss him. Maybe he’ll come home in a couple weeks for the weekend. Ty is doing well a few days into the year. The distance learning is weird as he finishes most work at school so it’s like he has a 2 or 3 day school week.

It’s 6am now so time to get moving. Hope everyone is well. Be safe and God Bless. Here’s a couple pics of morning in the mountains!

Fall is coming

Tomorrow is September 1st. No turning back now. Hard to believe in about 120 days 2020 is over. Good riddance, right? Lori just pointed out that it’s then about 115 days until Christmas! Time for Tommy to get his tree out, ha!

Yesterday we sold a few more things. We also had to take most of the money we’d taken in over the past week and pay for a sheet of steel to go behind the bbq we’re building. Not the best timing on that but we need our bbq!

26 days until we go elk hunting. Ty has in person school today and Jag is doing well. Lori works from home today and our builder is finishing off a few more items around here. I’d love to take a load to the dump but we’ll see how much work I have.

Now to our Country. Police officers are being shot and killed with the latest to be a black officer in St. Louis. The radical leftists in Portland shot a Trump supporter and then cheered when they learned he died. What is wrong with people. We are now officially avoiding Denver as much as possible. Lori is going to see her Mom who’s having heart surgery a week from tomorrow and we’re super nervous about her going there. Things have to stop. The worse thing is it’s far left groups and people sitting in their fancy homes and offices that are controlling and manipulating all these groups and enticing the on-going violence. Their main goal is to make sure things stay messed up through the election as they think this will help them defeat Trump. I personally think they’ve overplayed their hand here as any sane person cannot support these antigovernmental violent groups that are now killing people. We’re way beyond protesting George Floyd or any black person being killed. You don’t see thousands of white people in the streets tearing down cities when these protestors kill a white person do you? The protestors of course never show up when a black police officer or young black child is killed as it doesn’t fit their narrative. Hell the news barely covers it too. Hold on, this isn’t over and won’t be until the rest of us stand up and say no more. Worst of all, all the democrats from Biden on down are silent. Their silence is a signal of approval to these groups and cannot be tolerated. Anyone who votes for Biden is supporting this violence and unrest. Don’t be fooled. Don’t vote for Biden because you don’t like Trump. That is not a reason, that is a cop out and supports these killers. Enough said as I’m so disgusted.

Time to go, be well, be safe, be kind and God Bless.

More stuff

Man do we have a lot of stuff in storage. I’m trying to find most of the things that have sentimental value and leave the boxes of toys, clothes and other things we don’t care about. There’s so much furniture we have no room for. We are taking Mom’s old fainting couch and going to try to have it reupholstered by someone. Other than that, most stuff will be going bye bye except for the things we sell. We did sell some cowboy boots yesterday. They were older pairs of mine I don’t wear. We happen to have them in the car and met a guy from Wyoming over in Frisco that bought two pair from me. I gave him a small break since he bought two pair.

Today we have some people coming by for some more things like a boot dryer, a chain saw and more. We still have things to post too.

It’s so peaceful and quiet up here. Especially in the mornings. Our flock of blue jays show up every morning for breakfast. I think I’ll start naming them. They’re out there right now fighting amongst themselves for the best position at the feeder.

The boys are well, so are the dogs. We need to get on a dog house as it’s going to get cool soon. We noticed snow on top of the peaks outside of Copper Mountain driving home from the store yesterday. Lori made chili yesterday. I had her make enough to last us a few days, yum.

We had good rain yesterday morning which helped clear everything out around here. Snow Monday night into Tuesday way up a bit higher they say. Then Wednesday it gets warm again.

Time to get moving. I think I’ll go put some food on the ground so all the birds can get to it at the same time. God Bless you all, be well.

Relief

We woke to a light rain this morning which is welcome. Our birds are out at their feeders, chipmunks too. Ty is sleeping away and feeling fine. I was in Denver and then stopped to drop some more things to Jagger before heading home. There was an hour delay at the tunnel as they were doing some work inside on the right lane. What a pain. While I was gone Lori cleaned Jag’s room and put away the things from storage on the dining room table. Earlier before I left I put out a pile of about 20 bags and boxes of trash for pickup.

Today we’ll get a few more things and try to consolidate storage units. We might go get Lori’s desk in Frisco too. It’s misty outside and looks like a scene from a movie. I’d like to get to the range too. We need to find a dog house for the pups before it gets cold which in Colorado could sneak up on us with little to no notice.

Fall is my favorite season. You all should know that by now, right? Time to go. Get after it today. Accomplish something you’ve been putting off. You’ll feel great about it by dinner time. Purge some stuff! It’s liberating. God Bless.

I Love Lucy

5:30am and I Love Lucy is on tv! I love that show. We find ourselves watching the good old shows like Andy Griffith, Hogan’s Hero’s, Lucy and others from when we were kids. That’s good tv!

This morning I’m off to Denver and Boulder. I hope to be back by 3 at the latest. Ty’s first day of school was great while Jag had an outbreak of poison ivy yesterday from Boulder Creek. We think Ty has a little cold as he had a runny nose last night. Don’t worry, no covid, just a cold.

I found a used desk yesterday for $120. Nice find. It’ll do just fine. Our bbq starts being built end of next week, thank God. Oh, get this, our water bill is $3082 for 3 months! Now $1200 of that comes from our builder as they used a lot during the final stages of construction but $600 a month is still a lot of water! Today our landscaper will dial back our sprinklers to every 3rd day or so rather than 3 times a day. Our grass is in now so we can stop watering so much.

Lori worked from home yesterday and will do so again today. We’re getting things put away which is good as we still have a lot in storage.

Guess I’ll get going. I have a lot of trash to put out this morning. Last weekend of August. Fall is a coming! God Bless.

Fall, coming soon….

You can feel it in the air, Fall. It’s that one day that comes each year. The inflection point when you can feel a slight chill in the air. Soon we’ll be bird hunting, then we’re off to Idaho for elk. After that Halloween will be upon us in a wink and then Thanksgiving and Christmas with a bunch of birthdays sprinkled in. My favorite season by far.

Ty’s first official day of school starts at 8:20 this morning. I was in Boulder yesterday dropping Jag some things and a a few hundred dollars worth of food I picked up upon my arrival. He can eat which is good. he’s working hard and a lot. This weekend he has friends coming down from Vail to visit. Most of his friends schools are closed. I was down and up by about 3.

Here’s a picture of Jag’s dorm room, notice the open book! Small rooms but at least he has a room of his own with a shared shower and toilet. He also has a view of the courtyard. I took him his space heater (bottom left) as the air conditioning runs throughout the building. Robi, you’ll notice my 30 year old prized poster of Mick!

Our freezer is halfway full of beef and waiting for elk hopefully in a month. Lori and I continued to go through boxes from storage. The photo’s are priceless. I’ll be sharing some in the coming weeks after we get a bit more organized.

We’ll meet with Chris our stone guy this morning to hopefully get our bbq going. It’s brutal not having a bbq. I also have a management call from about 9:30 until 11. Then we’ll go get Lori’s desk in Frisco.

The smoke is almost nonexistent up here. I was at James’s house last night for our weekly get together with a few other buddies. One guy we know pretty well was there, Travis, and we were both surprised to see each other as I didn’t know he knew James. Ty and his son are in the same grade and he grew up in Appleton Wisconsin about 40 minutes from Shawano, Mom’s home town. We’ve always had that Green Bay Packer connection. Good to reconnect with him.

I’d like to get some more out of storage today but we need to put some more stuff away first.

That is it for the day. Do something for yourself today, you deserve it, God Bless.

Paint

This morning at 7:30 the painters are showing up. Great timing. That’s sarcasm. Lori has clinic, I’m supposed to be off to Boulder and Ty has new student orientation at 10 in Eagle. We’ll need to figure it out.

Yesterday we brought in a whole bunch of more china and figurines of Mom’s from storage. Every box is a surprise, ha. Also a lot of personal things. Lots of stuff is going away. We gave some to some friends and donated some kids books to the local elementary school.

Ty went to the dentist and had a cavity filled. Jag is working hard and thinks school will soon be shut down due to the lack of social distancing. Question, did anyone really believe 10,000 incoming freshmen would stay in their dorms, not hang out and wear masks whenever out, especially at night? I didn’t. So we’ll see what happens. Guess we’ll know in a week or so.

Not as much smoke up here but still have smoke. Lori’s unsure about our new bed. Painter’s just showed up so time to go. be well, safe and healthy, God Bless.

One week to go

In a week it’ll be September, wow. Hard to believe it’s almost Fall. As you get older, time goes by fast. Jag’s in college, Ty’s a junior in high school and Tom’s almost 60 years old! ha.

Before then though I have a lot to do. This week I need get in a bunch of orders and clean more out of storage. I’d like to get one unit completely empty as that’d save some money. Last night we unpacked some more stuff. I’m glad I saved so much from Mom’s as I’m finding some really fun things from her childhood books to a small book of her favorite photos. Of course I’m all over it! I also found grandpa’s wallet with receipts from a boarding house in 1911 and a newspaper clipping of Mom’s grandma’s 95th birthday party. There’s lots more fun stuff like that plus numerous sets of china and other knick knacks. Not sure where to put them all. Some stuff we just let go but having a second chance to decide what to keep is helpful.

Ty starts school tomorrow and I’m going to see Jag to drop some more things that arrived for him. Today my good friend Matt is driving over a side of beef from a rancher in Montrose. We split the cow and booked it about 3 or 4 months ago and it’s only $3 a pound! We had mostly steaks, stew meat and hamburger cut. I could have sold my cow 10 times over for two or three times the price. Decided to keep it as meat prices have skyrocketed with Rib Eye’s about $20 a pound! In a month or so I’ll hopefully bring an elk home from Idaho too. Then we should be good for a year if needed.

Lori’s off to work and I have a few workmen coming over to fix some things. The most frustrating thing about building a house is the little crap you have to fix after you move in. It’s hard to get guys out as they’ve moved on to the next new house. Anyhow it’s slowly getting done.

Colorado is crushing Covid. We have the lowest positively rate and hospitalization rate out there except for really sparsely populated States like Wyoming. Now kids are getting it as they don’t really social distance. Good news is they really don’t get sick. Hang in there, we’ll beat this thing.

Have a great day, make it a great day! Do something to get ready for Fall, you can thank me later, God Bless.
