Fun

Seems like we’ve been here for days! Yesterday Lori had her massage, and I had a hydro facial. Today Lori is having a facial and I have a manicure. Who would have thought? This is the top spa in the valley, so lots of locals come here too. Later in the day, after a couple hours at the pool in the sun, we went to the mall to get Lori some tank tops. The Neiman Marcus down here has way better stuff than ours in Denver. Debbie, our salesperson who we know from previous trips, is pulling some stuff going on sale from downstairs that we’ll go see this afternoon for Lori.

Brian, my partner, was sick. Didn’t want to chance getting anything, so we skipped getting together. My friend Steve, who moved here when the gun laws in Colorado changed and he was forced to close his store, and Angie, are coming up later today and we’ll all go to dinner.

We also dropped by Mom’s favorite jewelry store to drop of one of her old tennis bracelets to be rebuilt, as they wear out and it broke between a couple of the links. We’re having them rebuild the entire bracelet as it has sentimental value to Lori. Larry who is the jeweler, still raves about how great Mom and Dad were. He really loved her. Of course, they probably spent a million dollars there over the years, so there’s that too. But that’s not why he liked her so much, it was because of who she was. A kind, caring, genuine person.

Not sure where we’ll go to dinner. The boys are fine, and Ty is doing a great job taking care of Harley and the house. We’re going to the gym this morning before the spa. so time to get going.

Oh, we were getting coffee yesterday and it turned out, the GM of the hotel was in line in front of us. We thought he was just an employee and asked where the lawn and orange groves were, mentioning we were married here 24 years ago. Later in the day, when we returned to our room, there was champagne and designer chocolates and a nice card, welcoming us back and thanking us, nice. Have to say, every employee here is so nice and polite. They’re all so polite, you can’t help but notice. I told him that which was good for him to hear. Makes a big difference. Makes you want to stay here again.

That’s it, have a great Saturday and God Bless.

Arizona!

After a cold flight, (the plane was cold as we were in row 1) we landed in Scottsdale and had our luggage and were in our fun little car, literally in less than 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we were at the Montelucia, formally La Posada, where we were married 23 years, 1o months and 28 days ago.

Right when we were leaving the house, I bent over to put some stuff in the dishwasher, and wouldn’t you know it, threw my back out. I’ve been nursing it the past 20 hours and am 85/90% better. We made it down to Boulder and met up with Jag and Ava for a quick hello and coffee before heading to Rocky Mt. Airport. Good to see them, even if only for 15 minutes.

Ty is doing well. He had Madi spend the night and they’re already on the road to work at 7am.

Lori has a massage at 9 and then will hit the pool while Brian and I work on Club Kag, our new company. Big news, which has been in the works for a while, is Josh, my other partner, has been offered a job as the senior pastor at his church which is a big deal. We worked out a schedule at work where he can go to part time and accept the position. It’s a lifelong dream and calling for him so we’re all supportive and happy for him. He’ll still handle the projects he’s working on and not much will change as Brian, and I run the Company anyhow. We will reduce his pay by 50% and each of us will take a small raise. Good for him, and me, ha.

That’s it, time to go to the gym and see what I can do. Excited for 70 plus degrees here, God Bless.

Off to Arizona!

Our flight out of Boulder is at 4 this afternoon, so we’ll head down around 11 or so this morning. There’s a little snow, like a dusting on my windshield, but nothing on the driveway. There’s supposed to be a break between 10 and noon, so we’ll leave around 11. We’ll land around 6 pm in North Scottsdale and should be at our hotel before 7pm. We’re excited for some pool weather!

Ty’s car is good to go. They drove it up yesterday and not only did my buddy fix the wheel bearings, but also put on new brakes and rotors, flushed the brake fluid and did a full inspection. This car now is in good shape and should (knock on wood) be trouble free for some time. Ty stopped and washed it on the way home! I don’t know if he ever washed his other cars, but then, he didn’t pay for those either. Good for him.

Jag is doing well, he texted and called yesterday. We’re still trying to decide where to go in May. If we have time, we’re going to look at some homes in Arizona. Our realtor is a sharp girl we’ve known for over a year, that always keeps an eye out for distressed sellers. We’d love an inexpensive place like Mom and Dad’s, to go to from time to time. We’ll see.

That’s about it, time to get our stuff together. Enjoy the warm weekend in Denver, could hit 70 degrees! Figures, ha. God Bless.

Feeling better

I finally began feeling better yesterday. I’ll head back to the gym this morning after dropping Ty at work. Lori, of course, is now trying to fight off getting my cold. Ty, of course, is just fine.

Nice yesterday but a little cloudy. Today more of the same. Ty’s car should get delivered today. Lori works in Vail. Didn’t talk with Jagger yesterday, but I’m sure he’s doing fine too.

I have a few more calls today. Been talking with our Phoenix realtor looking at the market down there. Might get something this year, we’ll see.

Time to get moving. Have a great Wednesday and God Bless.

Who ya know

Luckily, I know people. This really helped yesterday. We decided I’d stay home, and Lori would head down for her appointment in her car, and Ty would take his back to the dealership. Ty left first and dropped his off around 10:15. Lori was an hour or so behind him. Later in the day, we found out the issue with Ty’s car, rear wheel bearings! Now this was supposed to be all checked out, prior to the sale, which I guess it was, but still was a problem.

Here’s where we get into “who ya know”. I know the GM, so they’re fixing Ty’s car, to the tune of $4800, on them. To be fair, this car came from Kuni Lexus, (so my guy didn’t know) and when my buddy called the Lexus dealer to get them to cover the cost, they refused! Not cool since they’re owned by the same corporate company. But my guy, covered the whole bill. They could have tried to stick the buyer (us) with the bill. Not good business, but they could have, as it’s a used car. Thankfully Jay is a good guy. It’ll be fixed today and he’s arranging to have someone drive it up to us tomorrow.

Lori works in Vail today, I’ll be working at home today and Ty is boarding. We’ll get him tonight as he works tomorrow. It was in the 50’s up here yesterday, nice. Looking forward to Arizona. Hoping my cold is all gone by tomorrow. We’re going either way. Had another covid test yesterday, and again, negative. Just a crappy cold.

Time to go, have a great day and God Bless.

Denver

It’s going to be warm in Denver today, like in the 60’s. Ty and Lori and I are all headed down to Denver. Lori and I have appointments and Ty is having his car looked at. At least it’s a good day to drive. We’re all getting out of here early so we miss the Presidents Day ski traffic.

Yesterday we hung out at the house, Ty worked and then went to see Madi for an hour after work. No gym yesterday as we took a break. Time to get moving as we need to leave in an hour. Have a great week and God Bless.

Back on the road again

It took the entire day, but Ty has wheels again. Lori and I waited until around 10 to leave putting us at the dealership right around noon. We were out of there a little after 2 and then met Jagger and Ava in Boulder at Whole Foods, to load them up on some groceries, and have a quick bite to eat. Ty’s 2014 Audi is a good car but needs to go back in for service as there’s a fan or something that’s louder than it should be. They put in a new battery and after Ty’s downpayment, he’s financing about $7K. He wanted to only finance $6K, but the minimum you can get a loan for is $7K, so we put down a little less than we planned. Ty is going to pay it off in 90 days most. He’s super happy and understands he has to make sure there are no mishaps this time around.

I started a Z-Pak this morning as I’m tired of messing with this cold. Ty has a little bug too, so we’ll probably get him on one as well. He works at 7:30 this morning, so he’s up and showering.

8 degrees here right now but the warmup is coming. Should be nice for the next few days at least. Can’t wait to get down to Arizona on Thursday.

The sun is coming up here at 6:30am. Time to get moving. Have a great Sunday and God Bless.

More snow

Again, not a lot at the house, but good snow for the mountains. I think we’re going to try and go get Ty’s car. We’re watching the news right now trying to see how bad the roads are.

Yesterday we hung out at the house after going to the gym. I’m still kicking my cold. Just some congestion in my nasal cavity. Nothing in my lungs. I ran to Costco yesterday while Lori had a Zoom meeting. She then went to pick up Ty.

Better get going so we can get ready to take Ty. Have a great Saturday and God Bless.

Snow

Had a little snow last night. Not much, less than an inch here, but enough to postpone our trip to Denver to get Ty’s new car, until tomorrow. We found a low mileage 2014 Audi A4 for him. He’s putting down like $10K and will have about $6K in payments plus tax. He’s planning on paying it off in 2 or 3 months. Good for him.

Still kicking my cold. I have a deep voice but no headache, chest issues or anything else. No fever either. Just a little stuffy nose and a hoarse voice. Trying to decide if I should go to the gym or not. Might just hang home this morning.

Busy at work, but all good. No cigar night last night. Several of us were out of town, a few others, like me, were under the weather and then we had the snow starting. I’m off the smokes for a while as after our Super Bowl party, I’m kind of smoked out.

Jag and Ava are going to Jack’s for dinner tonight to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They were too busy during the week. I think Lori and I will see him Monday as we’re in Denver for an appointment.

That’s it for the day. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Halfway through the month

Today marks the halfway point of the month and hopefully winter. Six weeks to April 1st which can still bring snow but is also the beginning of warmer weather and springtime. Bring it on.

I’m kicking a cold, which really never developed. Hopefully it’ll go away soon. Lori worked in Vail yesterday and I decided to drop by with some flowers, wine and boxes of cookies, for her two PA”s who are single and don’t have a boyfriend of husband. Lori said they were sort of sad sine it was Valentines Day. She said they were super appreciative.

Lori came home to flowers and a new pair of tennis shoes as hers were worn out with a hole in them. Ty went to see Madi last night and was home by 10:30. No snow and it was almost 50 degrees yesterday! We might get a little in the next couple days, but I think most of the snow will stay up high. There are some low hanging clouds outside though.

That’s about it, time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.
