Birthdays!

Today is my good friend Harry’s birthday and it’s also John Lennon’s! Happy Birthday guys!

In a week it’ll be mid-October, then it’s all downhill through the end of the year. Ten weeks has half a dozen birthdays, four major holidays and lots of festivities. Hold on tight.

This morning I think we’ll try to run to the gym before my 9am conference call. Ty’s in Denver as he is every week, Jag has a big test today and Lori and I have lots of work to do.

Israel declared war for the first time since 1973. It seems a World away but it’s closer than you think. The World is a small place these days as we’re all connected. This is not good. These are the kind of things that force people to pick sides and there’s way too much instability out there for this to be good for anyone.

Take stock of things in your life and always be prepared for the worst. Then you’ll never be surprised! Have a great day and week, God Bless.

Great game

Yesterday’s CU game ended with a win. Hopefully today’s Bronco game will be the same. Ty was out with friends until late and is up and off to work now. Chandler is driving him which is good. It’s nice up here with it not being too cold. We sleep with the windows open, and it’s been nice. Also hasn’t froze up here yet. Think that’s coming Thursday.

Lori went all out yesterday decorating for Halloween. We went to the storage unit and found her Halloween boxes. I need to get the last few things out of there as it cost about $500 a month for old antique furniture and some boxes of the kids’ old toys and some paperwork to live there. I’d like to get that done before winter sets in. What a waste of money.

Lori is taking Ty for his physical sometime today. James is playing in Indio CA today and either home late tonight or tomorrow. Knowing him, he’ll have the pilot ready to go and be in the air before people are out of the parking lot. Marty leaves tomorrow for Jacksonville to take his youngest son on a couple of college visits. Then he has a real estate meeting in Tampa next weekend.

Time to get moving. 6:40am now. Have a great Sunday and pray for the people of Israel. They’re at war for the first time in 50 years. Hope it doesn’t escalate into a wider conflict. God Bless.

The Weekend

Thank God it’s Saturday. I need a break as it was a tough week. I have a lot of stuff going on and am doing my best not to get overwhelmed. Today at 4:30 the Buffs play Arizona so that’ll be fun. Tomorrow we thought about going to the game, but Ty has physical with Dr. Yarberry before he’s out until the end of the month. I could have sold the tickets but we decided to give them to Mitch and Kelley, the couple who lost their 7 year old a couple weeks ago in the ATV accident. They were super appreciative as one of their other children just turned 16 and God knows they need a break. Glad they’re going.

Today I’ll do some work, mostly in my head. I’m deciding just what to do with the Company. Complete reorg? Split it into two? I’ve even thought about just selling the whole thing and moving on. Lots of options but nothing is off the table. All good, just need to shake things up as when the entire World, and economy changes, you need to change with it. Throw in getting older and wanting more time to do fun stuff and hang out and it’s time to do something dramatic. More to come in the next few months. We’ll see.

Ty’s off to work and his buddy Karim is still sleeping downstairs. He drove up last night and is staying until tomorrow and then he and Ty will drive down after work. I think he’s going to hang out in Vail today while Ty works. He’s a good kid. He is going back to school next year at DU.

It’s pretty outside with all the trees golden yellow in color. You can even see the colors in satellite phots from space. Think we’ll go for a walk today instead of the gym, we’ll see.

Jag and Ava bought their tickets to go to Portland Thanksgiving week yesterday. They’re leaving Friday the 17th at 6:10am, ugh, and flying back Wednesday the 22nd at 5:10am, double ugh. Then they’ll drive up here and be here for Thanksgiving with us. Last place I’d want to go is Portland but that’s where her mom and stepdad are.

That’s it for the day, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Thankful

Sitting around last night, it’s easy to not take for granted all we have in life. Everyone should take a moment to realize just how good you have it. Some might say, I don’t have it that good, but I’ll say, if you’re here (alive) and able to read this, you’re doing ok. When you look outside and stop and really look, it’s hard not to be in awe of the World around us. Just a thought for the day.

6:05 am now and we’ll be out of here at 6:30 to take Mr. Ty to work. Not sure if we’re going to the Bronco game or not this weekend. We’ll decide later today. Good game last night. We should have a much better record than we do, at least 2 and 2. Hope we win Sunday.

Cool outside but I don’t think it froze last night. I had the sprinklers turned off, the tree company here and the house cleaners yesterday. Good to get those out of the way. Lori is busy and so am I at work. It’s still a struggle with the economy. Need to keep thinking out of the box.

Time to get moving. Thinking of buying an ATV to plow the driveway when it snows, we’ll see. Have a great day and God Bless.

Ty’s home

Last night around 6, Ty and Karim made it up from Denver. They left around 2 and stopped in Denver as Ty had a staff meeting at 5 at the restaurant. Today Karim will drop Ty at work before heading back to Denver. That’s nice as he works at 7 and we don’t need to leave at 6:30 to take him.

I have the tree guys coming today who deep feed trees so they get enough fertilizer and stuff as our dirt is pretty hard. I was going to Denver but didn’t hear from Jagger yesterday, so I’ll go another day. I need to get his dresser down to him one of these days.

Time to get going, it’s 6:30 now. We’ll head out to the gym in 30 minutes or so. Then it’s back to work. I have a lot to do as I’m basically tearing the Company down and starting over. Of course, I’m doing this on paper and then going through all the steps deciding what to implement.

Cooler outside, nice. Take care, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Clean ears

Yesterday after seeing lovely Lori and Dr. B for my neck, I headed over to see Jennifer who is the PA for the ENT doctor. She cleaned out my ears with this vacuum machine that sucks all, and I mean all, the wax out of your ears. I don’t think my ears have ever been so clean or that I’ve been able to hear so well, since I was born! It was a weird sensation as she’d look into my ear and then there would be a sucking sound and feeling sort of like when they put that hose in your mouth at the dentist. In about 5 minutes, both ears were sucked clean of wax. Sounds kind of gross but what a great feeling. Everyone should go do this! I didn’t even know they did it.

No surgery for my neck. This morning I feel the best I’ve felt in weeks as I slept with two pillows. That’s good news.

Ty will be up here around 2 or 3. He facetimed Lori from Lookout Mountain yesterday as they went up to watch the sunset. He said it was cold!

Think I might go to Boulder tomorrow to drop of Jagger’s dresser. It’s been sitting in the garage since May. Sure is nice outside with all the trees changing colors. We love our little grove of Aspen trees. Friday we’re having the sprinklers blown out for winter so that’s the official start of the season, game on!

Dr. B is going to see U2 in the Sphere in Vegas this weekend and also seeing Katy Perry. Think Molly likes her, too funny. He has a conference there. They invited us but we passed.

Before I go, here’s some thoughts to think about! Sort of puts things in perspective, check it out.

In 100 years like in 2123 we will all be buried with our relatives and friends.

Strangers will live in our homes that we fought so hard to buy or build, and they will own everything we have today. All our possessions will be gone, including the car we spent a fortune on, and it’ll probably be scrap, or preferably in the hands of an unknown collector.

Our descendants will hardly know who we were, nor will they remember us. How many of us know our grandfather’s father?

After we die, we will be remembered for a few more years if we’re lucky, then we are just a picture on someone’s bookshelf, and a few years later our history, photos and deeds disappear in history’s oblivion. We won’t even be memories.

If we paused one day to analyze these questions, perhaps we would understand how ignorant and weak the dream to achieve it all was. If we could only really realize this, surely our approach to life would change, and we would all be different people.

Seems we’re always wanting more and wasting time instead of focusing on what’s really valuable in this life. Time to live and enjoy the walks you’ve never taken, give the hugs you didn’t give, kiss your children and your loved ones, tell those you love, you love them. Those would certainly be the most beautiful moments to remember, after all, these things fill our lives with joy.

Most all of us waste time day after day with greed, selfishness and intolerance to some degree. Every minute of life is priceless and will never be repeated, so take time to enjoy, be grateful, and celebrate your existence. Cherrish every moment. God Bless.

Snow

Here it comes, Fall. Yesterday it was nice in the morning, then the rain came with lower temperatures and during the night, snow came down up high on the top of the mountains. We don’t have any at the house, but you can see it out the windows.

Most of yesterday, Craigs three guys, were digging holes and planting our new trees and installing the drip lines. After they put in the four we picked out, we decided we needed a few more. We decided to get two more, and Craig gave us an extra for free. Hard to describe how much the new trees have changed the whole house. It looks like a completely different backyard and the view enhances the whole feeling of the house. It looks really good.

At 5:30 we headed to Gerry’s for dinner. We had sushi and wagyu beef that Ted made, (he’s the sushi chef at Sato) and had a great time. Their neighbor, Alexandria, who has this incredible villa on top of the hill in Lake Creek, joined us. She’s from France and lives here half the year and in Ft. Lauderdale the other half, just like Gerry and Marci. It was fun as always.

I have an appointment at 10 with Dr. B on my neck. Everyone my age gets stenosis so he’s checking me out. Then at 1:30 I’m having the ENT doc, vacuum out my ears. Not sure how they do this but it gets all the wax and stuff out of your ears.

We slept in until 7 so Lori is rushing to get out of here in a bit over an hour. Hope everyone is well, have a great day and week and God Bless. Here’s a couple pictures. Hard to tell how good the trees look unless you see them in person. Here is about half of them in the first picture with the cows from the other day, enjoy.

WIN

Well, it didn’t look good in the beginning but about midway through the 3rd quarter, we came to life. We came back from 21 points down to win by 3 and stun the Chicago Bears. Last year our offense sucked, and our defense played pretty well. This year our offense and quarterback are actually playing really well, but our defense sucks. To be fair, we do have a lot of injuries and we do get at least three starters back next week so who knows. In any case, it was a great win and today is a much better Monday than the last three, Go Broncos!

We went to James around 1 for the game and food. Lori took off a little after we arrived to pick up Ty from work and drop him off at the bus in Vail to go to Denver. He said the traffic was brutal as it took them about 4 hours to make the hour and a half trip. The Raiders, James’s favorite team, had a chance to tie it late but ran a bad play and threw an interception to lose the game. Of course, there were also some bad calls by the refs that took away the game too.

Tonight, we’re going to Gerry and Marci’s for wagyu and sushi as they leave to drive back to Florida this Thursday. They have the sushi chef from a good restaurant in Edwards coming to their house to cook for us.

Lori and I are both working from home today and Craig, our landscaper, is coming and planting four large aspen trees this morning.

I think I’m lactose intolerant. It just dawned on me yesterday after having a big bowl of Greek yogurt after the gym. I’m cutting out dairy, so we’ll see. I know carbs and sugar don’t agree with me as when I try to eat carbs, I feel bloated and sometimes nauseous. Guess as you get older you can start to get allergic to some things. Always something.

There’s a freeze warning this week with the low temps forecasted around 25 degrees. It’s just north of us but with us being up on the hill, we’ll probably freeze here too. At least that gets rid of all the wasps and bugs that hit your windshield.

Coming home last night we pulled up on four cows being herded by 2 dogs and a guy on a four-wheeler in the middle of the road. They must have escaped, and he was trying to turn them around and head them back towards the pasture. There are no pastures close, so they made a pretty good break. Funny to see on the road near the house.

Time to get moving and turn on the football channel. When we lose, I don’t do that, ha. Have a great week and God Bless.

Football

More games today, but first to yesterday. Everyone thought we, CU, would get blown out, and it sort of looked that way to start. But we hung in there, and if the offensive coach would have called less running plays down the stretch, we would have had a chance to win. We lost by 7, 48-41, to the number 8 team in the Country. With two minutes to go, they just ran the clock out. If we had a couple minutes left, we might have forced it to overtime the way we were playing. Still, after last year, we showed up, played well and things look good for the future.

Today the Broncos play at 11. We’re going to James as he’s smoking some ribs that’ll be done at halftime of the Raider game in the afternoon. We could go for both games but I think we’ll watch the Bronco game here.

It’s 6 now and Ty is getting ready. Chandler will pick him up at 6:30 and then we’ll see him Wednesday. It was a nice day yesterday, but the cool down is coming. It’s going to be in the 60’s all week for the highs, and in the low 30’s all week for the lows. It will get below freezing for sure. The colors are peaking right now and its beautiful outside. Great time of year.

That’s it, time to get going. Not sure if we’re going to the gym as Lori’s head was hurting pretty bad yesterday. Hope it’s better today. Mom used to say, getting old is hell and she was right.

That’s it, have a great day and God Bless.

Cooling down

At 3:40am I woke up and turned off the A/C. It was 68 degrees in the living room, nice. It’s 6:04am now and we’re taking Ty to work in 30 minutes. Then we’ll hit the gym before heading home to get ready for the CU, USC game. Jag is up and getting ready to head to the stadium for pre-game and so he and Ava get good seats. USC is ranked #5 in the Country so it will probably be a tough day, but there’s always hope!

Lori worked most of the day and I ran some errands including picking up Ty. Chandler, his manager, just moved to Eagle so she’ll drive him home and take him to work tomorrow! She’s a great girl.

The government might get shut down today. Could be the best thing that happens to us. There will be some short-term pain, but we have to stop spending money we don’t have and stop giving Biden money to promote his twisted agenda. If they pass a short-term CR (continuing resolution) the next time they need to give the govt. more money will be at the holidays and of course, all our so called “representatives” will cave in a heart best so they can go home for Christmas. Shut it down until the Dems agree to stop the wasteless spending. Hell, they shut the Country down for two years with Covid! Can’t be any worse.

Time to go, have a great day and weekend. It’s so beautiful up here with the colors changing. All the trees and mountains are painted golden yellow and red. We love Fall. God Bless.
