A long day

Yesterday was a long one. I took Ty to the doctor for his head and picked up Jag at 11:30 and dragged him along. While seeing Dr. Feeny for Ty, I asked him to conduct the travel consult with Jag for his trip. We got him there just in time as Jag needed to start taking Typhoid pills last night and takes one every other day until Thursday as it’s a dose of four pills. He’s also supposed to drink stuff only out of bottles, not pet any dogs or animals and eat stuff only that he can peel or cook.

Basketball started at 4 and we won both games. We played Hayden which is out by Steamboat where I go hunting. They were a bit chippy and Jag of course was mauled and double teamed all night long. In the first game one kid was particularly annoying doing things like knocking the ball out of Jag’s hands on dead balls and even called him a pussy! Their big guy who was a senior, came up to Jag and apologized for his teammate which was nice, saying “sorry about him, just ignore him”. We won the first game by about 10 and the second by about 20. It was chippy though with our crowd cheering like a college gym. At one point on a pick and roll, one of our big guys dunked the ball and the crowd went crazy. We made it home and ate dinner by 10 and today Jag’s off at 9:30 for more games by Grand Junction. His coach is picking him up as Lori and I will be in Denver. I have to run to the store first as I always bring power bars and Gatorade to the games for the boys and I need to send them along. It’ll be his last game as then he’s gone even though our team will go to districts. We though will be in Hawaii.

Ty hung out with some buddies in the auxiliary gym from VMS shooting balls around which was good as he’ll be back in school with them next year. He’s grown a bunch and is so much taller than a lot of the kids.

Lori took some pictures but they’re on her phone. I need to hit the shower so I can get to the store for the teams stuff. Have a great weekend, God Bless.

Ugh

Ok, Ty’s home with a concussion on top of a concussion, Jag has two basketball games tonight and Lori and I are both dealing with incompetence at work. Ty needs to go see Dr. Feeny at noon today who is like the concussion guru up here. Jag saw him when he had his episode. Today we have games from 4 until about 8:30. Tomorrow Jag leaves at 10 for Grand Junction and should be home around 4. Lori and I will be in Denver getting Jag the last few things he needs for his trip to China. Ty will be staying home. He needs to stay off all stimulation which includes radio, tv, computers, reading or anything where he uses his brain. Yesterday he was bored and didn’t know what to do. Lori said that he needs to learn how to be bored, as all kids in today’s World do, good point, ha.

We’re supposed to get snow on Sunday and then I fly out Monday arriving back in Denver Wednesday am. Lori had a good meeting with her doc yesterday and hopefully will be backing down to 4 1/2 or 4 day work weeks. We’ll see. When she’s there 5 days a week it’s just too much as she ends up working between 50 and 60 hours a week which is not sustainable.

Have a good day and weekend, keep washing your hands and do not touch your face or eyes! God Bless.

2/1/18

Here we go, March and Springtime are right around the corner! I hear there’s snow in Denver today but it’s dry up here. It’s 5:38 right now and Lori is out of the shower. She has an early morning meeting. Both boys were home yesterday but will be back in school today. Jag has the Shakespeare Festival after school from something like 4 until 7. He and everyone else has to dress up and recite lines they’ve memorized. Look for pics tomorrow!

Once again, we can’t seem to find a morning where we can sleep in. Here’s a comment from Robi from yesterday, hope everyone is well, GB

robi says:

Yep Happy Birthday mom! In her honor I have on her “uniform” and Robert is wearing his chili pepper chef pants mom gave him one year for Christmas. Going out for mex tonight cause she loved it! I sure hope she’s having a big party, but I know she’d rather be here. I was woken up by a pack of coyotes howling, Robert went out to look and there it was, big, bright and orange right in my backyard – the super moon! I thought it was too be early this morning about 2:30 and I have a real hard time sleeping so I sure wasn’t gonna wake myself up to see it. Kinda cool, the coyotes “barking at the moon”.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is Mom’s birthday! I’ll bet there’s a big party going on up in Heaven. It’ll probably be a fun one because most of her friends are up there with her. Wish she could post pictures of the big day! We all miss you and hope you have a great day!

Last night we lost two tough games, the first by 3 points, 57 to 60 and the second by 4 points. Earlier in the day Ty was hit in the head twice in gym. First he bonked heads with another student and then the teacher and he somehow ran into each other. He went to Jags first game but his head was hurting so I ran him home between games. Jag has practice tonight and then is off tomorrow as I’m having him skip the morning practice. Then he has two games Friday and two Saturday. He had a lot of homework last night after the game so I’m letting him sleep as long as possible.

I pulled a muscle in my back day before yesterday but will try to work it out at 9 am this morning after Lori goes to the gym at 7. The kid at the front desk of the gym who is there on the weekends, asked us last weekend if we were training for something special. It seems we’re the only ones who consistently show up on the weekends. Lori told him we’re training to get old, ha.

There’s a Super Blue Moon outside right now, the first one since something like 1866. Unfortunately we can’t see it right now as it’s overcast. The next one is in 2037. Ty wanted to wake up to see it but since we can’t see it, we’re letting him sleep.

Work is going pretty well, knock on wood, for both of us. Without going into detail, January was a pivotal month for both of us. I guess hard work and persistence does pay off!

That’s it! Tomorrow is February 1st, continue to wash your hands and do not touch your face! We still have a good 4 weeks left of the flu season. Take care, be safe, have a great day and God Bless.

Here’s the moon last night on the way to basketball.

Basketball

Today we have two games, one at 4 and one at 5:30. Then practice tomorrow and two games Friday and two Saturday and then that’s it for Jag as he’ll be gone on the 8th which is the last game. Then after that we have districts, only we’ll be in Hawaii, if I can find a place to stay. Apparently it’s like Presidents Week and most places to stay are already booked. Oh well, if we don’t find a place, we’ll postpone until Spring Break in April. I don’t think we’ll do that but it’s an option.

It’s warm up here. I was joking with Jag yesterday that this is like the winter that wasn’t. It looks like Fall outside, especially on the south facing slopes. Hope it’s not a bad summer for wildfires.

Ty was off yesterday but back at school today.  Jag needs to get moving too as he has school as well. We did order him a new desktop computer yesterday for him to work on. They sure update computers almost daily it seems as they’re smaller, faster and overall cheaper.

One more day in January. That’s it, the State of the Union speech is tonight. We won’t watch but it’s laughable that a bunch of celebrities are holding their version of this like they speak for and are in touch with us, so called little people. Whether you like Trump or not, there is no disputing his accomplishments. The economy is booming like we’ve never seen since Bill Clinton had the benefit of the birth of the internet. Isis is virtually gone, unemployment is the lowest it’s been in years, and jobs, real jobs (not minimum wage jobs like Obama touted) are returning. And yet a dozen democrats are boycotting the speech. That’ll help move things forward. Trump even offered amnesty to the 1.8 million dreamers which a lot in his party don’t agree with, and the Dems don’t know what to do. They have to somehow say this is bad as they surly can’t support anything he does. The tax cuts take affect with our February checks meaning we’re getting more money, yeah! If it was any other President (one that doesn’t tweet or isn’t so direct or who was more articulate) , all the anti Trump people would be dancing in the streets. Oh and the Grammy’s were down 10 million viewers as it was the lowest rated award show in history. That right there should tell you something. I say keep it up Donald, our business is up, our taxes are lower and things are overall better. Have a great day, God Bless.

Up early

At 5:30 am, I was up and getting ready to take Jag to basketball practice. To his credit, he was already up when I went down to wake him. Good news is he doesn’t have practice after school so he’ll get home early. Ty is off today as it’s a teacher planning day. I have a big week getting ready for next week when I’m out of town on Monday and Tuesday, flying back into Denver at 8:44 am Wednesday. Then I drive Jag down to the airport for his China trip on Thursday. Still can’t believe he’s going to China!

Lori’s head is still bothering her. I think she’s going to try to get some trigger point injections to try to get some relief. Lot’s of talk about the Grammy’s on the news. Personally we didn’t watch as we have no interest in a bunch of over paid, so called celebrities who are so out of touch with real life and the World, that they should be on another planet. Plus we don’t like most of the people or their music that they feature these days.

It’s 7 am now and not much else to write about. Mom’s birthday is in two days, we sure do miss her as I know Tom and Robin do too. I haven’t talked with Shelly lately, hope she’s doing well. Tasha had an article published that she’s been working on for sometime, great job Tash!

It’ll be February soon, then before we know it, Springtime. Enjoy the week and have a great day, GB.

A day off

Thankfully there’s no basketball today, practice or games. Tomorrow though at 6:30 am, Jag has practice. This is his last week of the season with three more games. He had a good night with some strong shots that were nothing but net, but man does he get hacked and mugged on almost every play. Sometimes it’s so obvious that everyone in the stands is screaming things like, “they’re fouling him” or “they’re holding him” or worse. I told him sometimes you get a call and sometimes the refs miss it. I know often he’s frustrated as he’s getting grabbed, pulled, pushed and like I said, mugged for two hours straight. That’s what happens when you’re a big man and a scorer.

Today we’re going to take it easy. Lori’s head was really bad yesterday at the end of the games. Not sure if we’ll go to the gym today or not. I think I’m allergic to peanut butter. Well, not 100% allergic, but I eat a lot, too much as it’s my go to food after workouts and for lunch on apples. I need to find a substitute. Aren’t you glad I shared that with you today? Ha.

It’s almost February, hard to believe. Time just flies by. Mojo seems to be doing a lot better. Lori took him on a short walk yesterday up the mountain and he seems fine this morning. Guess his anti-inflammatory’s are working. It’s about time for another coffee and then it’s off to the gym. Hope you all have a great day and are doing well.

Before I go, it’s now time for your daily public service announcement. The flu season is not over, in fact some say it peaks in February. Make sure to wash your hands whenever you think about it, and don’t touch you face at all if you can help it. If someone coughs or sneezes near you, turn your head and hold your breath, this can help you avoid getting sick. We also take vitamin C every day. There’s about 45 -60 days left before it settles down, be safe! God Bless.

364 Miles

Yea, it’s Saturday! It’s 7 am and everyone is sleeping including Mojo. I was up until about 12:30 as I had to run down to the highway to meet the bus to pick up Jag at 11:30. The team drove 364 miles yesterday to go play Rangely. Unfortunately they lost by 5 points. Jag didn’t play much as his head was hurting him a bit. He thinks he’ll be better today. We have two games today starting at 4:30 but thankfully they’re here at home.

We had a brutal home invasion here in the valley two days ago where two kids (a guy and a girl, ages 23 and 24) came up from Denver and took Uber to a gated community, hopped the fence and robbed and killed a 74 year old woman. On top of this, it was right next door to one of the surgeons at Lori’s clinic. In fact is was the doctor who fixed her shoulder who I’ve spoke about several times. I’m telling you this so everyone understands that there is potential danger and criminals everywhere. They’ll seem nice, like these two who fooled an Uber driver and apparently others. Sadly these days you must first look at everyone as a potential threat. Too bad the World has ended up this way but better safe than sorry. I’ve subscribed to this view of people for a long time and rarely let my guard down. Be safe! If it can happen up here, it can happen anywhere.

The Senior Bowl is on today which probably means nothing to everyone except Tom and I. The top college prospects for the NFL are playing and it’s a good chance to see next years draft picks for our team. For Tommy and I, there really is no down season for football. It’s one of our passions and right now we’re in draft mode waiting for the NFL Draft around the end of April.

We’re off to the gym as soon as Lori wakes up. Her head was better after working out and our trainer said she has a really tight trap muscle on one side. We have to figure out how to get this calmed down. Then we’ll clean up around here before the aforementioned football game and then we’re off to Jag’s two games. His basketball season is over in about another week and then the week after he’s off to China!

Have a great day, take care, be safe and go through life with a purpose. God Bless.

Bump on the head

Yesterday in practice, Jag had a couple more bumps on his head while fighting for rebounds. Who says basketball isn’t a contact sport. He sat out the rest of practice and is supposed to go to Rangely today but we’re waiting for him to come upstairs to see how he feels. Lori and I made it down to Denver to have a mole removed from the middle of her back that she’s had forever. Ty stayed at school for the girls basketball game until about 6 pm.

It’s snowing and blowing outside right now with not a lot of snow but it is blowing sideways and looks miserable outside. It’s supposed to stop by mid morning and then will probably warm up a bit.

Lori and I tried to get up at 5;30 to go to the gym but didn’t make it. I’ll go after I drop her off at work. Time to get moving as both boys still are not moving. Have a great day and GB.

A nice win

Last night we won by about 40 points. It was nice to have an easy win. Today there are no games but tomorrow we have two in Rangely. This is about 3 hours away so the boys will leave about 11:30 am and get home around 10:30 pm. Jag had a lot of playing time and played well. He had one block where he again blocked the shot and then pulled the ball down out of mid air. He had numerous other steals and rebounds and scored well too. Obviously winning by 40 meant a lot of our kids played well.

Lots going on in the World but I’m trying to stay away from it all. We had another criminal shoot a police officer last night for no reason. What is wrong with people? Yes it’s expensive up here but thankfully we seem to be a little bit more isolated from this kind of thing happening, knock on wood. There’s a manhunt going on in Denver right by Dad’s bank which is where this happened.

Lori and I are off to Denver this morning and hope to be back up by 2. Jag has practice after school until 6:30 and Ty is done at 3:50. Lori will go to work when we get back up the hill. It’s now 6:45 meaning we have an hour until we need to leave so I’d better get going. Have a great day, take care, be safe and God Bless.
