The leaves are falling

Yesterday was the first day the leaves began to fall from the trees. In the next few days, the ground will be covered in yellow and gold. It’s still really pretty up here and the weather is pretty nice. We thought is was going to rain last night but it didn’t.

Today Jag has Parent Teacher conferences starting at 7:50am. Lori has one of her girls in surgery at 7:30 and Ty, who is tired from getting home from soccer at 9pm, needs to get moving too.

I threw my back out getting out of the shower yesterday and bending over to pick up something from the bathroom floor. I did go to the gym as the trainer there has lots of experience with backs and such. I actually felt better after stretching for an hour but am pretty stiff again this morning.

Tomorrow Jag has a cross country race in Glenwood at 9am and then we’ll see about basketball at 5pm about an hour north of Denver. The last b ball game is at 8pm meaning we’d get back to Vail around 11pm. I don’t know if I can drive that much with my back. Maybe he can hitch a ride with another player.

It’s now 6:20 so time to get moving. Hard to believe it’s October tomorrow. That means a little over 90 days left in the year. 2017 seems surreal, like out of some movie about the future. Have a great day and weekend, GB.

Soccer in Boulder

Today Ty and 13 other boys head down to Boulder for a 4pm soccer game. This means they’ll be home around 8:30 tonight. Ty has a make up test in history this morning at 7:45 from when he was sick and one in science tomorrow at lunch. Not sure when he’ll find the time to study for tomorrow’s test. Jag will head back to school today and hopefully not be behind. He didn’t have any tests and turned in his homework on line.

Lori has lots going on at work as do I. Saturday is October meaning the pressure starts all over for me and continues until the end of the year. Then it starts again in January. If I think about it, the pressure never goes away. Both Lori and I sure could use a break. One where we don’t have to go anywhere, do anything or hang out with anyone. We just need a real break. Oh well, better to be busy than not, I guess.

I’d better run as Ty is hard to get up in the morning and needs to study some more and get his soccer stuff together. I cooked some pork green chile from noon yesterday until this morning in the slow cooker. It should be good after cooking for 18 hours. Rain is coming with snow over 11,000 feet which isn’t that high. So, have a great day, take care and God Bless.

Baby it’s cold outside

I think that’s the name of an old song but up here this morning, it is cold outside! Not sure of the temperature but Fall is here and Winter’s not far behind.

This morning we need to be at school at 7:45 so we need to get moving. Jag is not feeling well but we have to try to get him to school as he’s off Friday for Parent Teacher conferences. Ty is in Boulder tomorrow for a soccer game and also has a Science Field Trip. Not sure how he’s going to fit all that in.

It’s sort of a blur around here as everyone is so busy and has so much to do. On top of that, before you know it, it’ll be October. Then it’s all downhill through the end of the year. I guess Jag turned in all his homework on line so he’ll be staying home.

It’s 6:36 so time to get moving. Lori is already in the shower and Ty needs to get up.

Looks like Hillary is propping up a former Ms Universe contestant to say bad things about Trump even though she was investigated and prosecuted for lying and threatening to kill a judge (a real judge in Venezuela) as she’s even further behind him after the debate, even though he didn’t do as well as he should have. Forget that the moderator didn’t ask her about her about any the issues people care about like her emails, the family foundation, her health or anything else. No one should be surprised as the main stream media has always been in the tank of the democrats. The big surprise is no matter what they (Hillary and her media do) Trump is still gaining ground. They’re freaking out and with good reason as the people are tired of the same old shit in Washington. Good for them.

And with that, time to run, GB.

Beautiful

Yesterday was a beautiful day in paradise. 72 degrees and sunny was where we ended up after a cool start in the high 20’s. I had the house cleaners come for the first time in over 6 months for a deep cleaning as no matter how much we clean, we can’t get it all.

Today we have more school and work and before you know it, it’ll be October. Then the snow will come, as it always does. This weekend we have soccer and basketball and I think Lori’s getting her hair done in Denver.

It’s clinic day for Lori and I need to get some 2017 planning started. Not much else going on, guess I’ll run. Take care, have a great day and GB.

Go Broncos!

20160924_163326Once again, nobody gave us a chance. We were supposed to lose the game and come home with a record of 2 and 1. The problem is, no one told the team! Not only did we win, we beat them bad. Play after play, our defense and offense was just flat out better. So now we’re 3 and 0 and one of the few teams left undefeated, Go Broncos.

Yesterday we hung out around the house and ate too much food. Today we’re back at it with school and work. The weather is nice with the outlook good for the week. It’s 5:21 now and I’m heading to the gym at 6.

Guess I’ll run as if I hang around I’ll dive into politics and frankly I’m trying to avoid the subject. The big debate is tonight, not sure if I’ll watch or not as I cannot stand to sound of Hillary’s voice. Thank God she’s self destructing. The only way she wins is if the media and govt steal the election from Trump, otherwise it’ll be the Donald, hmm.

Here’s another photo from Saturday.

God Bless

What’s in your backyard?

Yesterday was a whirlwind of activity. First up was getting Ty to the church on time for his friend Zoe’s Bat Mitzvah. It started at 9:30 and went to 11 and then all the kids climbed into vans to go to a ranch in Silverthorne for a day of partying.

Jag, Lori and I worked our way down the valley stopping in Avon, Edwards and then finally in Eagle at Costco. Once back home, Lori and I headed for Dillon to go to Bed Bath and Beyond before picking Ty up at the party. We then rushed home and headed to Arrowhead for Kristen (a girl in Lori’s office) surprise birthday party. It was a dinner but we just stayed for a drink before heading to Vail for date night. We ended up at Nobu (sushi) and sat at the bar enjoying another cocktail or two, along with some of the best sushi in the Country (Nobu is one of the best) before heading home. It was nice for Lori and I to get away by ourselves. I think we’re going to try to do it every two weeks.

Today we’ll be cleaning up around the house and putting away our new dishes from BB&B. Throw in a hike and some football and that’ll wrap up the day. So, we had a little snow yesterday morning and the peaks are dusted in white to go along with the yellow and gold of the Aspen trees changing. This is really beautiful to see, right in our backyard, take a look.

Pretty great place to live, take care and God Bless

Snow

Yesterday here in the mountains, we had a little snow. Nothing stuck on the ground but nevertheless, it snowed. Today Ty has a day long party. Jag, Lori and I are going to go to the shooting range and then hit Costco.

Yesterday both Lori and I were in Denver, albeit in separate cars. We made it home within 20 minutes of each other with me arriving first. Ty’s Field Day was called off an hour early due to the snow as all the kids were in shorts. He was on the Orange Team meaning he sprayed his hair orange to go along with his orange shorts and shirt. His scalp is still orange. I think he somehow turned his legs orange too! Jag skipped cross country as it was too cold to run. This was a bit surprising to me as in Georgetown on the other side of the pass, it was 75 degrees and sunny when I was driving home. Lori said when she came through the tunnel, it was a white out on the west side. That’s Colorado for ya!

Once again, the colors are amazing. Time to run as we’re headed to the gym and Ty needs to be at the Bah Mitzvah at 9:30. It’s also an electronics free weekend in our house, and that goes for all of us except for a few work emails. We’ll let you know how that goes! Have a great day, God Bless.

Fall is here

It;s officially the 2nd day of Fall and they say it’ll be much cooler this weekend. All’s good up here in the bubble. Now in some parts of the Country, mostly black people, are rioting. They’re using the excuse of a black police officer shooting a black man, who allegedly had a gun, of being racist. That makes sense, huh. What most people don’t know is that over 70% of the people arrested in these violent protests have drivers licenses from another State. In other words, these protesters are being brought in (by buses actually) and are being paid, to protest. Turns out a big democrat financier is footing the bill. On top of that, he’s committed $20 Million to registering overseas voters to try to stop Trump. In addition, the govt is working overtime to register new immigrants to vote as well. This is all unprecedented as the powers that be are freaking out and trying to do anything to make sure Hillary is elected. I think the more they do this, the more they drive people to Trump. No matter what happens though, I’m sure they’ll somehow mess with the votes to make sure she gets in. Pretty darn scary.

Yesterday the boys had soccer and cross country after school. I cleaned the house as best I could and bought Lori some flowers. She made it home around 6:30 last night and it’s now 5:30 am as she needs to be at work early today for her annual review. She’s hoping she gets a raise. According to the CEO of the clinic, she sure deserves it, as in his words, the numbers don’t lie.

Both Lori and I are off to Denver today, in separate cars. I’ll leave at 7:30 after dropping the boys and she’ll take off about 9:30. We both hope to be back mid afternoon. I have a couple of appointments and she has one at the dermatologist. Tonight there’s a Leukemia walk in town and Lori and I are planning on having a date night. Maybe the kids will do the walk.

Time to run, hope all’s well, take care, be safe (lots of shit going down out there in our crazy World) and God Bless.

The colors are changing

Half of the trees have now turned from green to gold. It’s arguably the most beautiful time of the year up here, or maybe just about anywhere. Sometimes we’re in so much of a rush, you forget to stop and look around. I’ll try to take some pictures and post them as in a week or so, the leaves will start dropping.

Both boys made it back to school yesterday. Ty has a lot of catching up to do and Jag, a few things himself. Basketball was cancelled last night as they didn’t have a gym to practice in. They’ll all be back at it next week. With Jag’s thumb, he needs the break anyhow.

Ty has another Bah Mitzvah this weekend. All the kids go to the service at 9:30 and then go out to the parents ranch where they’ll ride horses, swim and play for the day. Up here, if you’re 12 or 13, the party season seems to be August and September.

Tomorrow Lori has her annual review with Dr. C. before he goes into surgery at 7:30am. She’s looking forward to it as she should be, as even though there’s things she could still improve upon, she’s done a remarkable job. Today she has a mini birthday party for Kristin, one of her girls at work. Then on Saturday night, there’s a surprise party for her we need to show up at.

It’s time to run as it’s 6:40am and everyone needs to get moving. Dixie had a mini episode last night and Kristin called 911 and they went to the hospital but they sent her home at 12:30am. Hopefully she can rest and recover and shake this off so she can get back to her usual self. We’re all thinking and praying for her. So have a great day, take care and God Bless you all.

Minor Surgery

Jag and I made it to the dermatologist by 8:30am. Soon after Susie called us in and the our friend, the doc, Libby walked right in. After looking at Jag’s thumb, she said, “we need to burn that off  and then cauterize it”. Now Jag is so tough that although this is extremely painful, he barely flinched. After it was all over is another story though!

On his other hand he had some laser treatment done but the right hand was the bad one. While there, Libby looked at me and said, “let me freeze off a few of those bumps on your face”. She always starts out saying “you’re not going anywhere for a week or so, are you?”. She asks this as you’re not going to look too good for 10 days or so until the scabs form and fall off. Throw in a little botox in my forehead and we were out the door within and hour, all for $30!

Next up was a haircut for me while Jag stayed in the car as his thumb was throbbing. We then literally stopped at my Mom’s for 5 minutes as we learned Ty was again home sick from school and Jag was hurting and wanting to get home. Hopefully we’ll see her this weekend as the boys haven’t been down in a while. That dog of hers is, as she says, full of piss and vinegar. It scoots around like a wind up toy and barks pretty much non stop.

Lori made it home at 8;30 last night after a lecture on something to do with spine. Today both boys are at school and Lori and I of course are working. It’s nice up here this morning, not too cold. I need to run so I can get to the gym by 6am. Hope all’s well, GB.
