Sparkling clean

Yesterday after finding one mouse, we tore the garage apart from head to toe. We took every single thing on the floor out of the garage. I filled up the truck and around 2 in the afternoon, made a trip to the dump. Finally just before the sunset, we moved the last of the things we are keeping back inside. With the moisture we’ve had, there are tons of gnats around the lights outside at night. If you open the door with the lights on, some will fly inside. I did order up a few traps from Amazon just in case. For now we have the old traditional traps set but have caught nothing. Hopefully we caught things early enough. Lori thinks we brought one here in her trunk from storage where we do have mice. It’s still outside and I’ll transplant the contents to a plastic storage container today. Lori just said she found gnats in the boys bathrooms, ugh. She put out plates with honey on it as they’ll fly onto that and get stuck. We still have to find out where the little suckers are coming from.

The boys are well. Ty’s debit card was hacked so we had to shut it down. Lori is in Vail today and Frisco tomorrow and I’m taking her car to Denver for a new windshield as she came out from work Thursday and it was smashed. Not sure when it happened but that’s when she noticed it.

Time to get moving, hope all’s well, be safe, take care and stock up! Food prices were up 13.5% in August alone! God Bless.

A win

Ok, it was ugly but it was a win. Crazy day in football with lots of upsets and some wild comebacks. That’s what make it fun.

We’re up early and we found a mouse and some tiny flies in the garage, great. We can’t find the source yet but we will!

Instead of the gym, we’ll be hauling everything out of the garage as soon as the sun comes up in 20 minutes or so. Always something. Guess I’ll be making that dump run earlier than I thought.

Dixie was totally lost yesterday. Like there was nobody home inside her head, poor girl. It makes Lori really sad. I think it’s because she didn’t wear her oxygen the entire night before.

We’re both working from home today but I have calls from about 9 until noon. The Queens’ funeral is on right now. Quite the production. Glad it’s a nice day in London.

Time to get moving, hope everyone is well, God Bless and Go Bronco’s!

Costco

Have to love Costco. They have just about everything in large sizes. We decided to leave here around 8:15 and head down to see both boys. Jag met us at Costco in Superior and we took two carts and went to work. Jag picked up a bunch of much needed stuff and we had Ty text us a list. After Costco we stopped at Whole Foods for things Costco didn’t have. Then it was off to Jagger’s to help him unload and put things away. After that, we headed to Denver to meet Ty and drop off his supplies. We tried to find a couch for Jagger and then was going to give Ty the futon at Jag’s but couldn’t find one this trip. After all this, we decided to head up the hill for home.

We slept in until a little after 7 and I think are either taking a long walk or heading to the gym. It’s super nice outside, like a great Fall day. The colors are starting to turn and should be in full swing by next weekend. Ty is going to the game and Jag is going next week. Should be fun.

Guess I’ll go. Hope everyone is well. Soon it’ll be October and then things will start moving fast. We already have snow on the tops of the higher peaks. Get ready! God Bless.

Fingers crossed

Yesterday Lori had her neck injections and was done by 11. We went to the gym before heading over to get one last workout in for her for a few days. I told her she can’t go this morning as she needs to rest.

After that we headed home and tried to take it easy for the day. We did go to Costco on the way home. At 5:30 we left for dinner with Gerry and Marcy. It was a nice time and we were home by 11. Restaurant food is so hit and miss these days, even at good places.

Lori texted the young kid from Ukraine that was driving cross country in the moving truck who left all his paperwork here. She asked if he wanted us to mail it somewhere. He must have thought it was me texting as he asked her to just take a picture with a phone and then email him. We thought he thought it was me as he closed his email by saying, and I quote, “thanks much, you real man”. This is funny as yesterday morning a young girl asked me how heavy she could fill the bag of groceries at Whole Foods. I looked at her and said as heavy as you want. She shrugged and filled it all the way up and then couldn’t lift it as it had 24 cans of green tea plus everything else in it. I picked it up with one hand and strolled out of the store. I asked Lori if I look weak as I thought the girl thought I was too old to carry a heavy bag of groceries. Lori said I misunderstood but I don’t know. So, I was glad when the moving van kid said, “you real man”, ha. I had helped him unload and he kept saying, “wait I’ll help” and I’d say no and just lift all the furniture or heavy rug by myself. Apparently, I need to bulk up, ha. My arms are bigger than most people legs though and my shirts are getting tight in the arms, so I’ve been slowing down on the super heavy weights, like above 150 pounds for curls, hmmm. Guess when you get old, people just think you’re weak. Not going to let that happen at this house, ha!

We were thinking of driving down to Boulder and Denver to get the boys some stuff but I’m not sure the drive would be good for Lori’s neck. We might just take it easy around here today. Lori took a bunch of stuff of Dixie’s down to her and she was thrilled. She recognized some stuff like photos but not all. We’ll take more today.

Time to warm up my coffee. Have a great weekend, God Bless and if you need someone to lift anything super heavy, that no one else can lift, give me a call!

A mess

I made it to the farm and back by 12:30. I hit rain both ways but nothing bad. About an hour after I made it home, the moving van from California arrived with all the stuff Lori packed from Dixie’s house. As soon as the young Ukranian kid opened the back of the truck, I knew we had a problem. Crap was packed like you’d throw stuff into a trash can. As we started to unload things, (I had to help as the kid was alone), about every other item was broken. What was ironic is the stuff that was broken was the stuff that Lori paid extra for to have it packed better. So, it was a shit show. Not only are most things unusable and need to be thrown away, but now I have to go to the dump. The big rug in Dixie’s living room did make it fine and is now in our living room. It looks great and if nothing else, is worth the price of moving everything as Lori says it’s a 100-year-old rug worth $40K. We still have some boxes to go through but probably 80% of the furniture is broken.

This morning we’re headed to the gym and then to Frisco for a 10am check in for Lori to get some injections at the hospital. Hope they help. We should be back between 12 and 1. It’s 5am now as Lori couldn’t sleep as she kept thinking about the stuff that arrived. Some things never made it onto the van or were “lost” in transit. We will file an insurance claim, but you know how that goes.

It’s the middle of September and Fall is in the air. Won’t be long until the first snowfall. There was some high on New York Peak yesterday after the rain. I brought 4 dozen more jars of canned food back from the farm along with some fresh food. We’re stocking up when we can.

Time to go, make it a great day, God Bless.

Rain

I’m off to the farm this morning and should be back by noon. The movers are arriving today with a few things from Dixie’s house that Lori wanted to keep, hopefully after the rain stops. I was in and out of Denver pretty quick and all went well. No plans on heading down anytime soon. I think we’ll give Ty and his roommates the Bronco tickets this Sunday as he really wants to go and take his crew.

Lori has injections tomorrow at the surgery center in Frisco. Not sure what time she checks in. Hope it helps her headache. Dixie is doing fine physically. She’s still confused mentally. Maybe we can get her out today for a bit.

Not much else going on. I think Robin and Robert flew home from Boston and their East Coast trip yesterday. She said it was a great trip.

Enjoy the weekend. Fall is coming next week. Last day of summer is the 23rd or next Friday. Be well, God Bless.

Busy busy

Yesterday was another busy day for everyone. I picked Lori up at work at 5 and we headed to Marty’s for his birthday dinner. Earlier in the day I went to Walgreens for the Shingles shot. I talked to Robi on the way who said both her and Robert’s arm hurt when they had theirs. Sure enough, my arm is sore too. Nothing bad but I can definitely feel it when I move my arm.

This morning Lori has an appointment with Dr. Gnurke for her headache. It’s the first step in fixing her that will end up with 2 or 3 ADR’s or artificial disc replacements. I’m off to Denver to get the truck serviced and pick up some wine from the distributor. I’m also meeting up with Toby who sold a few high-end pistols for me for $10k. Time to thin the herd a bit.

While in Denver I’ll grab some groceries for Ty and drop those off. He’s doing well and Jag is super busy. We finally secured a garage for Jagger at his apartments so he can park his car inside during the winter. It’s like $140 a month but well worth it.

Politics is crap as usual. Who are these people? Yesterday the stock market had the worst day of the year and the inflation numbers came out and were really really bad, and Biden had a celebration at The White House for his so-called inflation reduction act. It’s like we’re living in bizarro World. Denver just announced they’re giving “guaranteed universal income” to homeless people. I’m actually ok with this IF certain requirements are met like the person receiving it, has to get a job and has to stay off booze and drugs and submit to drug tests. If so, go ahead and give them the $12K you want to give them to give them an opportunity to get a leg up. But if there is no accountability, we’ll just be throwing away more money. People don’t really understand what’s going on. What you can buy for let’s say $200 today, you could buy for about $140 less than 36 months ago. Get that? Let that sink in. Your money is worth close to 2/3’s of what it was in 2019! Now do you get it? You’d better as if you don’t, we’ll all be in real trouble. You need to vote for whoever will stop the administrations runaway spending and in most places that means Republicans. Now to be fair, I think they’re part of the problem too. We need term limits. It’s not hard to figure out, it’s just hard for some people to believe it as a lot of people believe ANYTHING they see on tv and the propaganda machine is operating at full power. God help us.

Make it a great day, last weekend of summer is coming up in a few days, God Bless.

Marty’s birthday

Tonight we’re headed to Marty and Mel’s for dinner for his birthday. Clark, our other buddy, is having a birthday get together too in Vail, but we’re going to Marty’s.

Crappy football game last night. Too many penalties by our team. It was one of those games you just knew we’d probably lose. Oh well, 16 more to go.

Nice and cool up here. Lori is working in Edwards and I’ll pick her up at 5 to head to Marty’s for dinner.

Guess Shelly is doing fine. So is Dixie, albeit confused.

They say it’ll be a frigid winter in the upper Midwest and Northwest but we could be normal to mild here which we’ll gladly accept. Hope they’re right. The Farmer’s Almanac is usually pretty reliable.

Time to go. Make it a great day, stock up and get ready for winter. Remember, no one is going to be there to save you when you need help, unless of course you’re an illegal immigrant! God Bless.

Football

In just a little under 12 hours, the Broncos will play the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. It’s the beginning of a new era for us here in Denver and everyone is super excited. Sure hope we win.

Yesterday I went to James to watch the Raider game with him. They lost but we had a good time. Lori took Dixie to get her nails done. We’re up early as she need to be at work at 7:45. Looks like a full moon outside. It’s really bright outside every night.

It was sunny but cooler yesterday. I think Fall is rolling in even though there’s still some 80-to-90-degree days ahead. There’s a hot 85 and a cool 85 if you know what I mean.

Yesterday the news said that Americans pay more in taxes than food, energy and medical expenses combined. Think about that when you vote in a couple months. Doesn’t seem right does it. We have a Senator here, Michael Bennet, that’s running tv ads of how he’s against big oil and works for Colorado. What a joke. He’s a follower just like all the politicians. This is the first time I think he’s run tv ads though so he must be nervous, deservedly so. Hope he loses like everyone in office. Nothing will change until there are term limits.

Not much else going on, time to get moving. Lots to do at work. Have a great week and Go Broncos! God Bless.

21 years

Hard to believe it was 21 years ago today that the terrorist attacks of 9/11 took place. I’m sure everyone can remember exactly where they were. We were home on Taft Court and Lori called me downstairs to see what was happening on the tv. It’s still surreal. Never forget.

Yesterday we did some work around the house, took a drive to Frisco and then watched college football for most of the afternoon. Lori watched some bad movie!

I’m going to James to watch the Raider game today. Should be a good day of football. I’ll see if Marty wants to come. His birthday is Tuesday.

On another note, in 2023, if not earlier, food shortages will be here. If you’re paying attention, you know there are some shortages now and prices have gone up. Problem is the things you find available now were mostly produced in 2021. This year’s production of things, which is way down, we will experience in 2023. One rancher predicted ground beef could be $50 a pound! That sounds like a stretch but so did all this woke crap and $5 gas two years ago. Better safe than sorry. Enough said.

Time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.
