Moving forward

Ty had a great trip even though they arrived home an hour late due to an accident delaying the buses from arriving at Camp Hale to pick the kids up. They did a lot in 2 days! Jag had a good week and was a little snarly later in the day but he was hangry meaning a bit angry because he was hungry. Lori had another screwed up day, not due to her but just everyday crap that comes with running a practice and I ran out of time to get done all I needed to get done.

Looks like my Mom will be extending her stay for at least one more day, maybe two. She’s doing great and is talking on the phone better every day. I guess they don’t have her swallowing any solid food yet as they don’t want her to choke. In any case, her surgery was a big deal and she came through it with flying colors. We’ll all be glad when she can go home, especially her.

Ty might skip the Bah Mitzvah today as he’s pretty tired. Lori and I are headed to the gym and I think Jag is going into town around 10 or 11 this morning. We do have the party at the Parker’s tonight. We’re obviously skipping the pre-season Bronco game but hope to catch it on tv.

Today college football starts too! To me, that’s the official kick off of Fall. A week from today I’ll be hunting. Can’t wait! Time to run, lots to do, have a great day, be safe and God Bless.

First snow!

Yesterday the high peaks had a dusting of snow! That’s a little early but not all that surprising. Ty is in Leadville at Camp Hale where the famous 10th Mountain Division from World War II was formed and trained before heading to Europe in the 1940’s. You might remember they were the troops on skis! It rained hard yesterday afternoon and we’re sure the kids were cold and wet.

Lori had the day from hell as the clinics email was down the whole day before and this morning she has to be at the office at 7:30. She’s about had it and would like to quit. She’ll get to a point where she’s going to just tell everyone the way it is with little to no filter which will be a good thing. She asked the docs wife yesterday if she wanted to do this job, to which the wife replied “hell no”! Most of Lori’s job is dealing with childish attitudes and personalities which is unfortunate as it’s silly to have that be the biggest issue at any Company. Sadly that’s the way it is in a lot of places. I told her to take charge and take no prisoners.

Speaking of taking charge, I have a call at 7 with one of my children. I too spend way too much time managing personalities. Jag is doing well with all A’s, even in his AP classes. Battle Mountain is different but he’s doing great. I’m sure he misses some things about VMS but Ty misses nothing and loves his new school.

Guess I’ll run, need to get some things done before my 7 am call. I picked up a new truck about a week or so ago and even though it’s basically the same, it’s a lot different under the hood. We love it, diesel is the only way to go. My buddy Matt bought my old truck from my buddy at the dealership. He’s thrilled too as he always wanted my truck. Time to go, have a great day and weekend and it’s Aunt Myrna’s birthday in Oklahoma, Happy Birthday if by chance you read this, God Bless.

Off to camp

This morning Ty is off to Camp Hale up in Leadville at 10,200 feet high! That’s pretty darn high in elevation. He returns tomorrow at 6 pm. Saturday he has a bat mitzvah. At 6 pm on Saturday we have a party at the Parker’s whose daughter Charlotte, is a friend of Jag’s from school last year. We’re going to try to go down Saturday to see my Mom who was moved from ICU yesterday to a regular room, yea! I was there when the doctor came in and updated us on her progress which is really good. In fact, he said he was surprised how quickly she bounced back. They also took the last two tubes out of her.

So we’re pretty busy as usual. We did go to Matsuhisa for dinner last night. Lots of shootings and murders in Denver, more than I remember. I’m really over all these bullshit manufactured protests funded by George Soros and the radical wing of the democratic party. Here’s a couple things to think about,

The history lesson for the day.

Robert E. Lee was married to George Washington’s granddaughter. He worked with Grant during the Mexican-American war and became a decorated war hero defending this country. He believed slavery was a great evil and his wife broke the law by teaching slaves to read and write. After the Civil War he worked with Andrew Johnson’s program of reconstruction. He became very popular with the northern states and the barracks at West Point were named in his honor in 1962. He was a great man who served this country his entire life in some form or other. His memorial is now being called a blight. No American military veteran should be treated as such. People keep yelling, “You can’t change history.” Sadly you can. This is no better than book burnings. ISIS tried rewriting history by destroying historical artifacts. Is that really who we want to emulate?
As they tear down this “blight” keep these few historical facts in your mind. No military veteran and highly decorated war hero should ever be treated with such disrespect. This is not Iraq and Lee’s images are not statues of Saddam.

IN ADDITION: Lee was also very torn about the prospect of the South leaving the Union. His wife’s grandfather George Washington was a huge influence on him. He believed that ultimately, states’ rights trumped the federal government, since the intent of the Founding Fathers was to limit the powers of the federal government with the Constitution, leaving to the States all powers not specifically delegated to the federal government, and thus Lee chose to lead the Southern army. His estate, Arlington, near Washington, DC, was his home and while away fighting the war, the federal government occupied the estate and demanded that Lee himself pay his taxes of $92.07 in person. He sent his wife but the money was not accepted from a woman. When he could not pay the taxes in person, the government began burying dead Union soldiers on his land. The government is still burying people there today in the shadow of Arlington House, also named the Robert E. Lee Memorial. The estate is now called Arlington National Cemetery. DO THEY WANT TO TEAR THAT UP ALSO??

In one more interesting twist, in 1882 the US Supreme Court returned the property to the Lee family, ruling that it had been unjustly confiscated; however, Lee’s son deeded it back to the federal government so that war dead could continue to be honored there.

Think any of these radical leftist antifa paid protesters know or care about this? I doubt it. Then there’s George Orwell’s 1984 which was actually written in 1949, seems he was spot on. Time to stop this crap now, Have a great day and God Bless.

Colors are a changing

Fall is coming, hell, it might already be here! You can feel it in the air and see it on the bushes and trees. Hints of yellow, orange and red are starting to show. It’s a great time of the year.

Ty goes camping tomorrow and will be back Friday night. We need to take all his gear in today for gear check. Jag, I think, has tennis in Louisville Saturday and Sunday. He’s never played before this year but you have to start somewhere. Oh, Ty also had his cast changed yesterday and has an all red one now. The New England Patriots team (pa’s and doctor) who moved her to join the clinic, had to do it as Dr. V was over in Frisco yesterday and we missed our appointment on Monday. We were going to go with orange and blue for the Bronco’s and the PA jokingly said he’d only do Patriot colors. Ty wanted red anyhow.

Lori is off to the gym for her weekly appointment with our trainer and I need to get cleaned up as both boys have late starts today as it’s Wednesday. On Wednesdays, they start like 9:30 every week. Then I’m off to Denver to see my Mom. She’s thankfully getting stronger every day.

Tonight Lori and I have to go to some SPRI (Steadman Phillipon Research Institute), opening event at the hospital. Not looking forward to it but when your wife’s a top surgeon at one of the top clinic’s in the World, you have to do what you do. It’s not easy being a trophy husband.

Better get moving, time to feed the horses and cattle and check the gates on the back 40, ha! God Bless.

Getting better every day

Well, the eclipse was sort of a bust. I mean it was interesting to see and all but the way everyone was talking, we thought it was going to get dark outside, animals would be running around confused, young women would be running down the streets topless and stars would be in the sky. Alas, none of that happened. Oh well, there’s always one in 2045.

My Mom’s getting better every day. I talked to her yesterday and was planning on driving down today but it might be a day or two as I have about 4 conference calls today where I need to be in my office. Ty goes in this morning to have his cast cut off and then have some x-rays to see if he’s healed enough to not have another cast put on. I think they’ll cast him up again for at least another two weeks.

Jag studied a bunch of AP History and apparently did the wrong chapter so he’s about 3 weeks ahead of the entire class. The school gave him some more books yesterday and they’re as big as encyclopedias! I cleaned his room for him as he’s been studying a lot.

Lori is doing ok, but her neck and shoulder is still bothering her. It’s getting ridiculous with all these angry left leaning groups wanting to tear down every statue out there. My question is, where were all these offended people when Obama was in office? I mean these statues have been up for hundreds of years, right? How come now, these poor people are suddenly unable to live life with statues of Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln, who they all find offensive. What’s this World coming to? I think it’s time to revisit building at the ranch, only this time a large concrete bunker! Ha. Maybe we should just split up the Country and give California to all these left leaning groups and the rest of the Country to people who just want to live their lives and look forward rather than back. Oh well, that’s my rant for the day, have a great day and GB.

The Eclipse

Today’s the day. Around 10:30 am it’ll start to get dark. By 11:30, 94% of the sun will be covered up here and it’ll stay that way until about 1 in the afternoon. I guess this happens abut every 100 years or so. If you live in the path, do not look at the sun!

My Mom is doing great! She even talked to all of us on the phone and looked 10 times better yesterday than she did the day before. Of course she wants to go home but it’ll be a few more day or maybe even a eek before that’ll happen. I’m amazed and thankful she came through this as well as she did. Her doctors did an amazing job. The main concern is she’s so small, but she’s a fighter. I can’t go down today but will again tomorrow.

Ty has a camping trip on Thursday and Jag worked on homework all weekend. Lori and I wanted to go to the gym this morning but overslept. We both have big weeks but then again, it seems that every week is a big week. We calculated that we don’t have a free weekend until October, ugh.

Time to run as I need to get the boys moving, take care and God Bless.

Doing better

Yesterday when we made it to Denver, we weren’t sure how my Mom would look, but she looked better than we expected, especially since it was only 12 hours post op. I received a text about 6am and I guess she’s doing even better today and has more of her color back. Lori and I are headed down in about an hour and will be there about 9:30.

Mojo threw up on the stairs last night so I guess we need the cleaners out her again. Not sure what he got in to.

Ty spent the night at Sonny’s and Jag is sleeping in. I bought the boys some new mattress pads like ours and the jersey knit sheets too and they both love them. I managed to get about 4 loads of laundry done but have about another 4 or 5 to go. It was hot in Denver, like 100 but is in the 30’s in Leadville, which is up the road, this morning. I think it’s in the low 40’s here. Time to run, hope everyone is well, have a great day and God Bless.

Well…………..

Well, where do I begin. Let’s start with another weekend and no sleeping in. Stay with me now as this post will be short but filled with a bunch of drama as we’re off to Denver within the hour.

First up, Jag scored 100% on his Advanced Placement History test, WOW! Next up, my ass is killing me from probably the hardest glute workout I’ve had in years, Lori had acupuncture on her neck, again, and it was sore all night but better today, Dixie finally received her oxygen machine late last night, or so we think, and last, my Mom had emergency surgery last night around midnight, and thankfully is in ICU doing fine.

Yesterday morning she fell and by late in the afternoon, her stomach was bothering her. James made the decision to take her in and thank God he did. Turns out she had something along the lines of a perforated bowel. Now the odd thing is apparently this had nothing to do with the fall but the CAT scan revealed the problem. Tommy and I both spoke to the doctor around 11 pm last night and he recommended she go in right away. I talked with Mom as did Tom and everyone agreed she needed to have surgery. Thank God that she made it through this ok. We’re on the way to see her in about an hour and I’ll know more once we get to the hospital. Again, James did a remarkable job identifying a problem and getting her there and hanging out for 7 freakin hours making sure she received the care she did. This all overshadows Dixie getting her oxygen machine but that was just as much of a cluster with Lori calling no less than 10 times, finally resorting to acting as a representative of her office, calling on the doctors line to get things done. You absolutely have to be your own advocate in the health care world today. Otherwise you’re just another number.

My Mom should be in, from what I know, for a couple of days before heading home. We’ll probably need to have James stay there and explore some type of more full time care. I told her yesterday am that she can’t live alone if she’s going to continue to fall. Tom and I will talk today with James, and her, to see what our options are.  I tired to call Robin last night around 11 pm but couldn’t reach her. Again, thank God my Mom made it through the surgery as at her age, being put under is always a risk. Luckily she has a strong heart.

So there you have it, a few other things happened yesterday but we’ll save those until tomorrow, God Bless you all.

Friday

Yesterday was Jag’s first day of school and overall he likes it. His counselor didn’t do him any favors though as he dropped the ball on letting Jag know about a number of books he needs. Jag is freaking out a bit but we’ll get it worked out. I am ordering about $300 worth of books on Amazon right now, ugh. After school we picked up Ty and headed straight to tennis. Lori ended up working until 8 last night and after my quick run to Denver, I made it home just in time to get the boys. This morning we’re leaving around 6:45 as Jag wants to get there early and so does Ty.

This eclipse thing is crazy. People are driving to different States to watch it and lining up at 5 in the morning to get the glasses so they can look at it. Both boys schools have things planned so they can see it. Again, DO NOT look at the sun during the eclipse!

Looks like Lori and I will go to Denver tomorrow. I picked up some new bedding and a really comfy fiber mattress pad yesterday and might have finally figured out the perfect bed set up. Both boys want the same jersey knit sheets I found at Nordstrom which were actually really reasonable price wise, cheaper than Bed Bath and Beyond. I called and had them set aside for the boys and if we go down, will grab them tomorrow. Lori will hopefully be getting her hair colored while I run around town.

We need to leave in 30 minutes so I’d better run. The kids always need some extra help getting up in the morning, ha. Have a great day and a great weekend, take care, be safe, (another horrific attack in Barcelona, ugh) and God Bless. And oh yea, now some left leaning magazine wants to blow up Mt. Rushmore? Good God, don’t get me started, but no matter how hard anyone tries, you can’t rewrite history.

Jag’s first day

I just wrote the post and accidentally deleted the whole thing so here we go again. Ty had a great first day as he said the kids are a lot nicer as they are not all rich! A friend of his told him which kids to avoid as they vape (smoke) and are slackers (lazy). His teachers are nice and he had fun. I guess the food was good too.

Jag read a book all day as he realized he had been reading the book for the senior AP class. I had headed out to buy Lori a mattress pad for her neck but realized I forgot my wallet at the top of Vail Pass. I’ll try again today.

Lori and I are both working hard and we’re all looking forward to the weekend. We’ll try to cram some more stuff into one of our two storage units on Saturday. Time to run as we leave at 7:45. Hope all’s well, God Bless.
