A different World

Yesterday no matter where we went, people were talking about the terrorist attacks in Paris and immigration. From the bank to people we overheard at Starbucks, there is a genuine concern going on among people. While several of my friends, and Lori’s, were not surprised (as what would a sane person expect when you let hundreds of thousands of people who follow a ideology that harbors some that hate and want to kill you) into your country, apparently many were shocked. It has now been proven that at least (and I’ll bet all) of the attackers were refugees that were taken in by countries to try to offer them a better life. The sad thing is that the vast majority of Muslims are not bad people but now, whether you admit it to yourself or not, when you see one walking down the street, you’re going to take an extra look and be suspicious. So the divide will deepen, Trump has surged in the polls as people are getting scared. Things are going to get worse before they get better, trust me. Political parties are rising like the Phoenix in European countries in opposition to this forced immigration. A few bad seeds among the immigrants are causing this to escalate. In Germany, German women are being told to wear long dresses and cover their faces when walking near Muslim neighborhoods, In Sweden, gangs of Muslim men are roaming the streets raping Swedish women as in their religion all women are supposed to be submissive to all men and they see it as their right to attack whoever they want. Meanwhile in America, the Black Lives Matter group (don’t get me going) is upset that the terrorist attacks in Paris are taking attention away from them. Boy oh boy, hold onto your hats, we’re in for a bumpy ride.

Here at home, college professors and administrators are being forced to resign over threats from students that they are racist or don’t protect them from someone saying something mean to them. Oh how I feel for these poor poor kids who are having their feelings hurt, wah wah wah. The other day there was another protest against institutions of higher learning, read on for another opinion as this gets even better.

This “Million Student March” which occurred the other day (and it was no where near a million students) was supposedly organized by a social justice warrior named Keely Mullen who will be graduating from Northeastern University in Boston with a staggering $150,000 in debt. What is Ms. Mullen majoring in? This information is carefully concealed in numerous articles touching on the march, which leads me to believe she majored in something über-useless. Doubtless now, she is facing the terrifying thought of working for the next 40 years as a barista at Starbucks, desperately trying to pay off the student loans she stupidly acquired to begin with to study a useless subject. And if she isn’t concerned about this fate, it’s probably only because she foresees a long career as a taxpayer-funded rabble-rousing activist espousing more nonsense that will lure others into debt slavery.

So who’s to blame for this debt Ms. Mullen acquired? Who’s at fault for her choices? Did someone point a gun at her head and force her to major in peace studies or sociology to the tune of $150,000? Of course she wants her debt dismissed. (This is called “freeloading.”)

At what point do young people begin to take personal responsibility for the decisions they make in life? In my opinion, Ms. Mullen is the epitome of the stupidity being bred in colleges today – no concept of supply and demand, a strong sense of entitlement, the notion that socialism will cure all problems and an insistence they should be given for free all the things other people spent decades acquiring through hard work. Goodness, I sure as heck wouldn’t want to hire Ms. Mullen, even if I owned a coffee house and needed a barista.

Who do you suppose did not walk out of their classes on Thursday? I’m willing to bet it was the mature, intelligent, practical students who are meeting the demands of the marketplace by obtaining useful degrees in the STEM subjects. These are kids who know their future depends on their grades and don’t have time for silly nonsense that won’t accomplish anything. Presumably, after graduation they won’t be demanding the government supply them with pointless “social justice warrior” jobs, either
So now in addition to wanting all student debt forgiven (forget who will pay for it) student leaders are calling for an end to the 1st Amendment. Now they demand safe spaces where no one can say anything to anyone. If students need a safe space, they should go home, put on their jammies, grab their teddy bears, suck their thumbs and come back when they grow up and can face the real world.

So to all you college cupcakes, if you really want to make yourself employable, skip the social justice warrior route and instead spend your time cultivating the intangible but valuable skills all employers seek: a strong work ethic, discipline, self-control, a dedication to your commitments, the ability to arrive on time, to perform a task without complaint and (after training) without supervision, the ability to write coherently instead of like a texting monkey, the ability to speak clearly without saying “like” or use an expletive every fourth word, and other indefinable skills that raise you head and shoulders above the crowd.

Forgo that internship with the ACLU or embarrassing public demands for coerced handouts. The world doesn’t need more shakedown artists.

Are you kidding me, what the hell is going on. America, get your shit together before it’s too late. Wake the fuck up. I’ll stop for now but we’re close to that inflection point where we won’t be able to turn back and things will just spiral out of control, and when we all do wake up and realize we need to stop this insanity, it’ll be too late. In closing, and I hate to bring politics into this, but the democratic party is a big part of pushing this agenda. I never thought I’d see the day where one couldn’t speak their mind, even if it was hateful speech, especially on college campuses. For centuries we have sent our children to fight in wars so anyone can say anything they want, free speech right? But now people are being told you can’t say this or say that, or dress like this or dress like that. Watch out as if you advocate this approach, soon you’ll lose much more of your rights than you ever thought possible. Ok, now onto the day, this is what you get when Mojo wakes me at 5:33 am.

We made a ton of progress yesterday, unfortunately the people buying our house are going out of town for Thanksgiving week so our closing is pushed back until the 30th. Anyhow we packed and moved a lot of stuff. Lori had her friend Andrea come over who stayed until 9 or 10 and they packed the entire kitchen. There’s just a few areas to go and tomorrow (Monday) James will get the big pieces of furniture out. A big snow storm is supposed to arrive Tuesday so I won’t come down again until Wednesday and then we’ll all be down next weekend to wrap things up. I’m going to the game today with Ty and one of his friends from Vail and his dad who are driving down. Ty never gets to go much less take a friend so when he asked a few weeks ago, I said yes. I think Lori and Jagger will drive the truck up (as it’s loaded with stuff) before the game is over and I’ll stop by and pick up Mojo this evening. There’s increased security today at all football games so we need to leave early, great. Time to run so I can pack some more books, man we have a lot of books. We did donate some to the boys old school yesterday but still have hundreds. I love books and refuse to throw them out. Someday books will be extinct which will be a real shame. Anyhow it’s a changing World we live in and I’m afraid more changes than not are not for the best. There’s always hope though that mankind or better yet, God will somehow save us from ourselves.

God Bless

Lots of stuff

Man you sure accumulate a lot of stuff, and junk, in 16 years. It’s fun when you find something you’ve been looking for for a long time but there’s a lot of stuff that makes you wonder, why did I ever buy that! I think it’s human nature to hold onto just about everything thinking you’ll use it someday. Well, that doesn’t seem to be true and now it’s just time to let that nondescript 70’s sweater from high school go!

I made it down by 9:30 and then had to run around town until about 12:30 when I started on the house. I made a trip to the dump about 2:30 and then came back to work some more. Lori and the boys sat in traffic due to road paving and finally made it a bit after 6pm. Today is the big day, lots to do and we should probably also have a garage sale.

We slept on the floor on old mattresses and Mojo slept right next to me. He’s the reason I’m up at 5 as he jumped up looking for breakfast.

Sad about all the people whose lives were cut short in Paris. In my opinion, Europe is done. They have just let in too many people who won’t assimilate into their new country’s culture but rather want to take it over. Of course our Pres wants to bring in over 200,000 so called refugees and more. Mark my words, sooner rather than later, and I do mean sooner, this type of carnage will be coming to a town near you in the U.S. Enough said.

God Bless those who died and their family’s as they will be scared forever over misguided ideology. This problem will not go away as all these senseless acts do is fuel the cycle. Now authorities, rightly so, will increase pressure on muslim groups and then they will resent the so called infidels (us and other non-muslims) even more and attacks such as these will continue. You see, they see this as a war when in fact, it is a lie perpetuated by sick twisted people who influence those who have nothing to lose. No religion or prophet says go kill, this is just there interpretation and I’m afraid it’s now too late to stop.

Sadly we live in a different World, get right with God and hope for the best but prepare for the worst!

The big purge

I’m off to Denver this morning and Lori will come down with the boys this afternoon. I hope to get the garage and basement cleaned out so we can focus on the kitchen, mud room, closets and bedrooms on Saturday. We’re all stressed out these days and need a freakin break. No time to go into details, God Bless

Nordic and basketball

That’s the menu for the day, nordic after school and 4 basketball games in which our boys play in 3 of them. It cleared up yesterday afternoon but we still have snow and it’s cold this morning although I just took Mojo out in bare feet and boxers so it isn’t all that bad. Lori had a good day at work and we’re trying to figure out how to get everything packed and out of our house in 10 days.

Everyone but Mojo is still sleeping. We’re trying to figure out our holiday plans as now if our house closes early, we’ll have no backyard to put Mojo in for Thanksgiving. We’re also not sure what to do with him at Christmas. We do have a neighbor girl, must be in her mid 20’s, who is a ski coach who loves Mojo and hopefully can look after him. We’ll figure something out.

I have a few issues at work which is normal for this time of year but should be able to work them out. Hope all’s well, take care, have a great day and God Bless. And remember, there’s only 43 days until Christmas and more importantly, 47 until my birthday! Ha ha

Snow!

It’s here, the white stuff, and a bunch of it, like 8 to 10 inches. Lucky I didn’t book a flight to Dallas for today as I almost did last week. It’s supposed to stop today and then clear out but it’s here to stay, probably until mid April.

I was talking to our realtor last night and now we could close as soon as next Monday but no way we can get everything out by then so I’m shooting for a week from Monday. Lots of work to get done at the house.

Ty had a bad dream so he woke us up around 4am. Everyone but Jag is up. Mojo loves the snow, big time. It makes him jump around and he gets all frisky. My trip to Denver was quick as I was back up here by 1:30 and that included a stop at the grocery store in Frisco. I have a couple calls this morning, 3 to be exact, and then will be done for the day. I should probably go to Denver tomorrow or Friday morning for sure to get a jump on the house. That’s it, we need to get our ski passes today, $2105 for the three of us boys! You should all buy stock in Vail Resorts! This year though, we’ll get our money’s worth as the kids ski every single Friday at school. Jag has nordic training today which should be a blast with all the new snow. Basketball tomorrow, after nordic and then nordic on Friday too.

Last, Happy Veteran’s Day to Grandpa Jim and anyone else I missed!

Time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless

Off to Denver in 30 minutes

I need to make a quick trip down and hopefully I’ll get back up before the snow hits. No time to write much as I’m already late.

Jag had nordic and was on skis for the first time yesterday and then I rushed him to basketball for a game at 6pm. Meanwhile Ty played his game at 4pm and then I dropped him and his friend at the house. Lori has a sore throat and the boys aren’t feeling too well either. Guess it’s going around up here. Time to run, God Bless.

What a mess

We managed to get through our room, Ty’s room and the guest room pretty much all the way. We still need to do Jag’s room and then the rest of the house. We have a little bump (of course) in the sale as the house our buyers are selling didn’t appraise for what they thought it would and they now need some cash. I should be getting paid as I’ve now taken charge of the deal and told my realtor and theirs what to do and how to handle it. It’ll probably cost us a little money but everyone is kicking in. Hopefully I’ll get it all handled today.

We made it back up by 2:30 for me to watch the Bronco’s lose. Green Bay lost also so it wasn’t a good football day. Lori and I are sore from sleeping on the floor and cleaning. We did get Ty’s bed set up and I need to go to the dump today with the old mattresses.

Time to run, God Bless.

Cleaning out

After 16 years in one spot, you sure accumulate a lot of junk. While we’re finding some fun stuff we misplaced, we’re also finding more stuff we just don’t need. The trash man will be busy this week. I hired James to move most of the furniture and boxes to our storage unit. The heaviest thing in the house is a gun safe that was in our bedroom. He and his buddy Larry and I moved that to the garage yesterday. Now it’s just boxes, tables, couches and chairs. We joked that our Christmas present to each other is getting James to move stuff so we don’t have to. I didn’t want to spend the money on him but we just can’t be down here all the time and he can move stuff out during the week. I did think he had his big U Haul truck which is why I hired him, but yesterday he asked me if I still had my trailer, which I don’t, so now I’ll need to probably rent him a trailer on top of paying him as he says his truck is full of stuff,  hmmm, didn’t see that coming.

I also need to get our ski passes by November 15th as that’s when they stop selling them for the season. Normally I don’t like to mention or dwell on bills in the blog but it’s crunch time and we’re just hanging on.

I guess the people moving into our house came and trick and treated as a family in the neighborhood for Halloween. We also received some mail from Geico addressed to them the other day so hopefully that means they’re really buying the house! They’re supposed to close on their house tomorrow and if that goes well, then there should be no more road blocks, except for us getting everything out of here!

Today we’ll keep working upstairs trying to get that all done so next week we can focus on the main floor. Of course the kids rooms are the biggest obstacle. We’ll be here today until after the Bronco game. I might go down to Uncle Tommy’s to watch it or maybe my Mom’s, if one of them will have me. Meanwhile Lori will keep at it upstairs.

Ty slept with Mom in his bed last night and Jag joined me on the floor in our room. My side was feeling better from when I fell on the ice a week ago but the last two nights has brought it back up.

Aunt Robi, you’re all set for the Bocelli concert on December 2nd. When I get the tickets I’ll call and mail them down to you. Wish we could join you but we have to go to Las Vegas two days later.

Grandma Dixie is coming for Christmas so we need to figure that out (where everyone is staying and when we’ll go to Denver and where we’ll stay there) and then we’re all going to Denver for Thanksgiving. Lori and I want to go to a beach, bad! Our friend in Aspen who has the home in Belieze says it’s open the first three weeks in December and we’d love to go but don’t think we have the time. It sleeps 12 so if we all want to go, post a comment!

Time to run, Go Bronco’s. We’re down next weekend too and I’ll be going to the game and its supposed to snow down here, whoo hoo, I love those games! Take care and God Bless.

0600 Dark

Good morning, it’s O six hundred in the morning meaning 6 am and it’s dark outside. I’m the only one up and need to go get some food, coffee and wash at least one of the cars within the hour. We made it down around 4:30 yesterday after sitting in 10 mile an hour traffic over Vail pass. We brought two cars so we can bring Ty’s bed back up with us.

Jag and I stopped at the bank while Lori dropped Ty at Vinny’s. Then the three of us went to Elways for dinner. We made it back around 7:30 and started to clean out our night stands. Lori then went to pick up Ty and we then took the two twin mattresses and put them on the floor in our room for our bed. It wasn’t very comfortable but better than Ty’s bed for us two and Ty who would join us in the middle of the night.

It’s still dark which is surprising as I thought by moving the clocks back an hour it’d be light by now. Oh well, time to run, hope all’s well, we’ll be starting the day by cleaning out all the furniture. We also hope to sell some to the neighbors so come on by if you need a couch or some chairs! GB

Snow and basketball

Yes it snowed and yes we had 3 plus more hours of basketball. Jag played in two games again and played well as did Ty who played in one. It’s hard though as we never get home until 7:30 with the kids going straight from school. We’re headed to Denver today, probably in two cars so we can bring one of the kids beds back up Sunday. I managed to get a lot of work done yesterday which is good as did Lori. She got to help tighten her first halo (the thing you screw into someones skull) which was a big deal. Time to run, hope all’s well, GB
