Oh well, everyone loses a game

Well, we didn’t win but for our rookie quarterbacks first start in front of the home crowd, it wasn’t all as bad as it seemed. The offensive line did a pretty bad job letting our qb get sacked 6 times. We still had fun but did leave with about 6 minutes to go to beat the crowds. We’re still one of the top teams in the league and our defense is still our defense so time to look forward to this Thursday when we play again.

Then we have the debate. Again it just shows how bad our choices are. At least this time Trump called Hillary out and fought back. She’s a liar and a schemer and the voters according to this mornings polls see that.

We have a busy week and I think it’s going to snow. Not sure when but it will snow. Time to run as we overslept again as we were all tired. Have a great week, GB

Go Broncos!

After a long day in Denver, Jag, his buddy Ethan, his dad and me will head out around 9:30 this morning for the big game. We’re going to Elways for brunch which is kind of a tradition before any big game. Lori and I are supposed to go to a big corporate tailgate where our friends Jeff and Tina are going to be, but after the long drive to and from Denver yesterday, her back is sore so she decided to stay home.

Ty’s team won their soccer game 4 to 1! This means they’ll play again next weekend. If they would have lost, the season would have been over. Ty didn’t score yesterday but played a really good game. While Jag, Lori and I then headed off to Denver for basketball, Ty stayed at Sonny’s and you guessed it, spent the night. Jag’s team won one game, lost one by 3 points and the other by about 20. The one they lost by 20 was against a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds who were obviously much better. Our guys hung tough though and one of the other teams guys fouled out and another was thrown out so they played the last 5 minutes with 4 guys and basically just killed the clock. We made it home about 7:45.

Our neighbor Morgan took Mojo for a long walk and helps out when we’re gone to Denver for the day. This way he’s not stuck in the house for 8 hours.

Lori will pick up Ty around 10:30 this morning so he can come home and study for a test tomorrow. Kristin is up visiting Dixie and bought her an Ipad so she can Face Time with Lori and the boys. Thank God I don’t have an Iphone, Ha.

Hard to believe it’s October 9th. The year will soon be over, something like 80 some days left. But today it’s all about the Denver Broncos! Have a great day,God Bless, and Go Broncos!

Off to Denver, after soccer

Today we have a busy day, soccer and then basketball. Last night Sonny spent the night and this morning, they’ll both head to soccer at 9am. After the game we’ll head to Denver for 3 basketball ball games. I know I told you all this yesterday but it’s just a reminder as to what’s going on.

Lori had a long day at work. My client and his son from Texas had enough of our Colorado weather after spending one night in temperatures below zero. They broke camp early in the morning and headed to Edwards for some fly fishing while Lori arranged for a second night in the hotel at a great rate.

I picked Jag up at school around noon as he was done for the day and just had study hall. Yesterday when we were leaving, we noticed the police showing up. Turns out the bubble within the bubble has been popped. Up here in Vail, at our school, someone found a bullet on the floor inside the school. I don’t know what caliber it was and with all the hunters and it being hunting season, it could just be an innocent accident. Our Headmaster though, not taking any chances, called in the police and took other measures to make sure all the kids were safe. Hopefully we’ll know more next week and as I said, hopefully it was an accident.

The boys and I went down to our Churches open house for Youth Group. It looked pretty fun for the kids and I think they’ll go on Wednesday night to check it out. The Youth Pastor seemed like a pretty good guy and there were lots of kids. I left it up to the boys whether or not they want to go or not but they both said, they’d like to go check it out. As a parent you don’t want to force religion, or sports or anything on your kids but you should at least expose them to it and give them the choice.

The election is a mess again. Hard to believe it could get any worse. Now you have recordings of Trump acting like a frat boy talking about women a dozen years ago, and Hillary’s speeches to all those investment banks were hacked and released. Man is she a freakin liar. She’s desperately trying to shift the attention to him but what she said is really disturbing. In short, she said, and I quote, “you have to have a public policy and then a private policy”. Wow, what this clearly means is that you tell us one thing and then do another, or basically, you tell the public (us) what we want to hear and then do something else in private. Super, how can you vote for that? Then the Donald, while on a soap opera set, is talking to another guy about liking to kiss and grope, and sleep with women. Now in fairness, he’s not saying anything any guy didn’t think or say in college, but then again, we were in college. Oh boy, what a mess. It’s really sad that these are the two choices we have, what a joke, and in 2016, Still though, I have to vote for him over her although I wish Mike Pence would take over the nomination.

Guess I’ll run, time to get the kids moving and feed them something before the game. Have a great weekend and be safe, GB

Time to relax, maybe just a little

After a busy week, today I have a conference call in the morning and then am going to try to knock off for the rest of the day. I was in Denver from about 1:30 until 4:30 when I then had to rush home to pick the kids up at school around 6pm. We didn’t have a way to get them picked up at 3:30 as Lori was stuck at the office so it was up to me to get up the hill as fast as I could. They hung out and did homework until I could get there. We then all went to sushi for dinner as by that time it was too late to cook at home.

Tomorrow Ty has a soccer game at 9:15 and then Jag has 3 basketball games in Denver at 2:00, 3:00 and 4:40pm. We should be done with these by a bit before 6 and then will head home. Sunday we’re headed down for the football game, whoo hoo, should be a good one.

My client from Texas made it up here ok and I sent him off around 11am to the campground at 9000 feet with his son. I gave him some warm sleeping bags, a couple of bundles of firewood, some bear spray and a bottle of bourbon. Hopefully they didn’t get too cold last night. It should be warmer tonight.

Guess that’s it, think I’ll run as it’s almost 6am and Ty has one more make up test this morning so he needs to get up early. Hope all’s well, take care and GB.

Snow on the ground

It’s back, snow that is. Outside we have an inch or so on the ground and it’s snowing hard and cold on the passes. They say we’ll have a good 6 inches or more up high. The roads are closed right now but should open soon. As you know, I’m supposed to be in Denver from 1 until 8pm today. First up though, I need to wait for my client and his 13 year old son from Texas who are supposed to go camping up by Leadville. Boy will it be cold up there.

Guess it’s raining in Denver now but by late this afternoon it’s supposed to clear out. This weekend they say it’ll be in the 70’s which is good for the football game. We can’t wait as it’ll be a good one.

Everyone is fine, but busy. Time to get moving as again, we have lots to do. Oh wait, you have to see this. Hillary got caught planting a 15 year old girl in an audience and then having her ask Hillary a question. Anyone with any brains could see this was all staged and thankfully they caught her. People, everything she says and does is scripted, like the movie Wag the Dog. It’s all a hoax designed to make you think she cares about you and is something she’s not. Wake up before it’s too late. Check this out.

Hillary Caught Using Child Actor At Pennsylvania Town Hall

Tyler Durden's picture

TwitterFacebookReddit

At a Hillary Clinton town hall yesterday in Haverford, Pennsylvania, a 15 year old girl was supposedly “chosen at random” to ask a question of the former Secretary of State.  But, the well-scripted performance raised some suspicion with a YouTuber namedSpanglevision who decided to dig a little deeper.  And, wouldn’t you know it, the “random” participant was none other than child actor, Brennan Leach, whose father just happens to be Pennsylvania democratic State Senator Daylin Leach.  Oh, and in case it wasn’t obvious, Daylin supports Hillary for president…shocking.

So, here was the original question from Brennan:

Brennan:

“Hi Madam Secretary.  I’m Brennan and I’m 15 years old.  At my school, body image is a really big issue for girls my age.  I see with my own eyes the damage Donald Trump does when he talks about women and how they look.  As the first female president how would you undo some of that damage and help girls understand that they’re so much more than just what they look like?”

And here was Hillary’s attempt at knocking the soft ball out of the park…it’s almost like she knew the question was coming.

Hillary:

“I’m so proud of you for asking that question. You are right — my opponent has just taken this concern to a new level of difficulty and meanness.  And, it’s shocking when women are called names and judged solely on the basis of physical attributes.

“My opponent insulted Miss Universe. I mean, how do you get more acclaimed than that?  But, it wasn’t good enough. So we can’t take any of this seriously any more. We need to laugh at it. We need to refute it. We need to ignore it. And we need to stand up to it.”

Here is the full analysis from Spanglevision.  Among other things, he points out that Brennan is the only participant of the night who reads her question from a prepared script.

And, of course, as pointed out by Spanglevision, the mainstream media couldn’t get enough of the adorable young girl and her “brave” question.

Unbelievable, she’s playing you, if in fact you support her. Good God people, this is our kids future were talking about, not yours, do the right thing, vote for change!

God Bless

Overslept

It’s 6:32 and we just woke up. I sort of have a sore throat which I’m hoping doesn’t turn into something worse. We all have lots going on today and this week so no one can afford to get sick. Lori did get her flu shot yesterday at work and the boys and I will go get ours sometime in the next couple weeks.

Tomorrow I have my client and his 13 year old coming in from Texas to go camping. I told him yesterday to just go for 2 nights and then check into a hotel in Vail for the 3rd night. He thought that was a good idea so I asked Lori to book him a room for Saturday as she gets a deal as she’s “The Steadman Clinic”.

Today I’ll run up to the campground to check it out. They’ll be going to Camp Hale near Leadville where it’ll be cold for sure. That’s where the famous 10th Mountain Division from WWII trained before going to Europe. They were the soldiers on skis and a couple of them actually founded Vail after the war. It’s a neat place being history and all.

Time to get moving as again, lots to do. I’m so sick of the candidates exploiting people to make ads. They even use kids, especially Hillary, she has no shame. I can’t wait until this is over. One thing is for sure, no matter who wins, half the Country will hate the winner. Even so, we have to vote for Trump as one has a history of criminal activity while the other has just said outrageous things. Hold on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. GB

Snow on the pass

Yesterday we had snow falling for most of the afternoon. It was sort of blowing sideways but not really sticking. The news this morning though, the news shows snow on the ground on the pass at the tunnel. Of course that’s above 11,000 feet. But don’t worry, it’ll creep down to us before you know it. Time to get the snow boots out of storage.

This morning the kids will go to school early as Ty is working with his history teacher on a make up test. It’s hard when either kid misses any time as they do so much these days.

I have a client with his 13 year old son coming in from Texas to go camping Thursday through Sunday. He has no gear so I’m setting him up with the help of our neighbor who is loaning me all the gear. Also on Thursday I have a tasting from 1 until 8pm in Denver, uggh. So it’s a busy busy day. Hope my client is ready for some cold weather as it’ll probably be snowing in Leadville where they’ll be camping.

I need to run as lots going on, take care and GB.

Go Broncos!

The Denver Broncos are the only undefeated team in the AFC. It was a great game and we enjoyed watching it as usual. Funny how something like a football game can make you forget the mess the World is in.

Today we all have lots to do. School, work, sports, make up tests and more. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to change to rain and maybe snow. Being October 3rd, anything can happen.

Lori and I took a walk into town yesterday before the game just to get out. Her back has been out for a couple of days like mine and walking always helps. We were only in town for about an hour but it was nice to get out.

It’s 5:18am now and I’m headed to the gym in 30 minutes. The kitchen needs a little cleaning as it seems the boys always need a snack late at night after we go to bed.

Guess I’ll run as I have the football channel on. It’s about the only channel that doesn’t show non stop political ads. By the way, take all those ads knowing they’re all only half true at best. Every candidate has their ads obviously favor them and trash their opponent by stretching the truth or sometimes just flat out lying. Every single candidate will say and do almost anything to get elected. Sadly this has proven to be worse on the democratic side which is understandable as they have history to lie their way out of. Think about it, can you name anything Hillary stands for or said she’s going to do to make your life better? I’ll bet you can’t as her plan is just to trash Trump and say how bad he is rather than what she’s going to actually do. In fairness to her, she has to do this as she has no record to run on and the only way she can win is by tearing him down. It’s a sad state when this is what our Presidential election has come down to. That’s it, I’m off to the gym, GB

Boot Season

Up here, that means winter is coming. Sadly the days of flip flops are over, for most people. I tend to wear flip flops as long and often as I can, even in the snow. Only when it’s 4 inches deep or more do I switch to boots.

Yesterday after Jag’s cross country race and Ty’s soccer game, Lori and I headed down to Big D to get her hair done. As soon as I dropped her off I headed over to Nordstroms with a pair of Jag’s dress pants and told them I need some an inch bigger in the waist and 6 inches longer in the legs. He’s now in adult clothes at his size (30/36) so I had to shop the sale racks. I found two pair of Hugo Boss pants on sale for $146 a pair. That sounds like a lot but in today’s prices, it’s really reasonable. Next up was a couple things for Lori and then I was off to pick her up. We had to stop back at Nordstroms to exchange one item and then had a salad before heading up the hill. Finally around 8pm we were home.

For most of the ride home, Lori was on the phone with the wife of a patient from Aspen who is having a 6 hour surgery Tuesday. The wife is pretty high maintenance but after 90 minutes on the phone, her and Lori are now new BFF’s. (best friends forever, ha ha)

Today the boys have some studying and we have some cleaning. I think we’ll run d0wn to the storage unit to get some snow boots and winter clothes out of storage. Taxes are coming up on the 15th, uggh. We’ve already sent in enough money to buy a new car and probably (we don’t know yet), have to send in just as much again. I don’t think our tax system is very fair as we pay more and more and people that don’t work get more and more free stuff and our Country’s debt just continues to go up and up. If anyone ran a business like that, they be out of business in a few months. Yet our politicians just go on spending OUR money on anything that’ll get them votes to stay in power. I’m sure if they were spending their own money, things would be different. Oh well, I need to stop before I ruin my day. But people, you have a choice, forget that it’s Hillary vs Trump. What it really comes down to is more of the same or something different. No way can any sane person say “oh yea, give me more of the same cause the Country is in great shape and headed in the right direction”. If you’re honest with yourself, you know this is true, Vote for our kids future, please, as that’s how you need to look at things, and if you do, you have to vote for Trump, period.

Guess I’ll run, Lori put a second comforter on our bed last night so she’s back in it with her coffee. The sun is kissing the top of the mountain out the window and is slowly working it’s way down the slope to lighten and warm up our little town. It’s almost 8am and time to get moving. Enjoy your day and be thankful for what you have rather than dwelling on what you want, you’ll be much happier, trust me.

If you’re older and plan on leaving anything at all for your children or grandchildren, you also have to NOT vote for Hillary. You see she now wants to tax all inheritance at a rate of 65%. Don’t think this affects you, well, read on…

Hillary’s Huge Estate-Tax Hike

09/30/2016

“Hillary Clinton Proposes 65% Top Rate for Estate Tax” blared a headline in The Wall Street Journal. Since the current top statutory tax rate on estates is 40 percent, Clinton’s proposal is nothing if not audacious. I can’t recall Barack Obama, our most left-leaning president, ever calling for a 65 percent increase in tax rates for the rich.

Going after inheritances and estates is textbook Marxism. That is not an exaggeration. The third plank in Karl Marx’s 10-point platform for achieving socialism through democratic means — see his 1848 textbook to communism, The Communist Manifesto — was the abolition of inheritances. To repeat: it was point three in Marx’s 10-point plan.

Why They Love Estate Taxes

For a long line of communists and socialists, the animus against inheritances has both an economic and a sociological purpose. Economically, the tax is part of the overall Marxian/socialist war against private property. Sociologically, Marx sought to weaken if not eliminate the traditional nuclear family. Clinton and her progressive allies have recently succeeded in weakening the traditional family by redefining marriage, and so it comes as no surprise now that she is extending the battle against families to the economic front by seeking more confiscatory taxes on the estates of families.

I have written before that Hillary Clinton gives every appearance of never having taken Economics 101. Taxes on estates are economically harmful, because they destroy capital. While running for the Democratic nomination, one of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s favorite campaign lines was the statement that the very rich have far more money than they could possibly spend. That may well be true. But what neither he nor Clinton understands is that those large pools of wealth are more valuable to Americans of modest means than they are to the rich people who own them.

The Economic Function of Inherited Wealth

Taxing 65 percent of large private fortunes will not significantly affect the lifestyles of the super-rich. But if the government taxes that wealth and transfers it to non-rich Americans, most of it will vanish in current consumption. By contrast, when the rich are allowed to retain ownership of wealth, much of it becomes the capital that is invested in business enterprises where it provides jobs for non-rich Americans and produces goods and services that uplift society’s standard of living. Like the old Chinese proverb says, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Capital is better than a short-term handout, for it enables men and women to support those families for many years.

My late mentor, Grove City College professor Dr. Hans Sennholz, explained another economically destructive aspect of estate taxes in his book, Death and Taxes. Many estates are not in the form of cash, but are working businesses. When the government demands a huge sum of cash from a deceased person’s estate, often the only way the heirs can raise the cash is to dismember, shrink, or liquidate the business. Who does this hurt most? Answer: the middle-class workers that were employed by those businesses. Where is the social justice in that, Mrs. Clinton?

In one respect, I have to give credit to Mrs. Clinton for her proposal. She is right to inform voters of what taxes she wants to raise in order to fund the massive spending increases she has proposed. But the amount of revenue that she hopes to obtain from increasing the estate tax will be less than she envisions. The much higher rate will incentivize many rich people to make increased use of the same legal devices (trusts and foundations) that Mrs. Clinton herself employs to shield her immense wealth from the clutches of the taxman.

Combined with her grand visions of social engineering — plans to involve the state ever more intimately in our daily lives — Hillary Clinton’s enthusiastic embrace of the Marxian policy of transferring more inherited wealth from families to government will take us down a very dark path.

So, who do you believe, Hillary or a Nobel Prize winning economist. Stop the madness, please, vote with your brain, not your emotions, God Bless

Cross Country and Soccer

This morning Lori and I will split up with one of us taking Jag to Glenwood for a cross country race and the other taking Ty to his soccer game. That in itself should be enough for the day but I think after that we need to head down the hill to Denver. We’ll decide on this later.

Yesterday morning Jag had his Parent Teacher conference. It’s only for High School kids and this year, all the teachers come to one room at the same time and everyone sits around a table. In short, they all couldn’t say enough good things about him. From winning the 9th grade Art contest to his English teacher saying how enjoyable it is to read his work because of his good penmanship to the Math teacher pressing him to join Math League and his Physics teacher saying he wants him in the AP Class (Advanced Placement which is a college credit course), next year, they were all gushing over him. The Upper School (High School) Assistant Director asked what they could do to challenge him more and if he gets bored as he has all A’s and seems to breeze though every subject. We’ll see what, if anything, they can provide for him that’s more advanced than the current curriculum. From his standpoint, he works hard for his grades and is motivated by getting something (like moving up a grade) for working harder, but is also fine with where he’s at. We don’t want to just keep piling on more and more work because he’s a great student. There needs to be balance in his life. We all agreed he’ll let everyone know by the end of October how he’s feeling and if he feels challenged enough. So, in short, the kid is brilliant! Must get that from his parents.

Speaking of brilliant, the misses yesterday received a raise that includes a guaranteed annual bonus that’s pretty good. Overall it’s like a 30% annual raise which is pretty amazing. She wanted and deserved more but if you remember her last job in Denver, the doctor wanted to give her a 3% raise! So, she graciously said thank you, but they did agree to revisit things in 6 months. Of course most of this, due to our screwed up tax system, will be absorbed by the govt in the form of higher taxes, but it’s always good to make more money in today’s economy. I stand by my saying that she’s like a doctor! I told her she should be proud of herself and congratulated her on all the progress she’s made in only 1 year. Just wait and see where she’s at in another year! She has a pretty special skill set, even if she doesn’t know what it is!

When Lori arrived home, Ty wanted to go to sushi so he, Lori and I headed to town as Jag wanted to stay home. When we made it to Nobu, it was closed for a private event. Only in Vail does someone have the money to rent out all of Nobu! We decided to walk down to Terra Bistro and had to sit at the bar as unbeknownst to us, it was Restaurant Week. This is where all the restaurants put out special menus at reduced prices. All entrees were $20.16. That’s a pretty good deal and we had a fun time with Ty. Sometimes it’s good to get the boys out with us on their own as we get to know more of what’s going on when there is only one of them. He too is doing well, living life and being a great 12 year old. He’s such a good, nice, caring kid who looks out for everyone. We’re pretty lucky to have such great kids, again, must be because we’re such good parents! Ha.

It’s 6:30 and we all need to leave by 8 so I’d better get everyone up. Lots going on at work and next week is super busy and oh yea, Happy October! Take care and God Bless, and Go Broncos!
