Cheese fondu

That’s what the boys wanted for dinner. Jagger picked some up at the store earlier in the day when we went shopping. Lori and I had chicken breast and broccoli, now isn’t that interesting?

Of course before that there was a full day of work, some shopping, some cleaning, (I cleaned out the refrigerator) and Ty had track. Same story today, work, cleaning, track and  a trip to one place or another, oh yea, the dry cleaners at 7am!

We’re trying to decide what to do this weekend that’ll be fun and free. That’s our new mantra, fun and free! We can go to the Broadmoor and visit or stay at our friends house for the Tennis Pro Am or we can go camping in Steamboat or just stay home and hit the pool. I’d like to go somewhere but Lori is really tired.

Time to run as lots to do as I slept until 6am. Hope everyone is doing fine, God Bless.

Internet down

Sorry for the late post but this morning the internet was down. I finally fixed it with no help from Comcast and we’re back up, obviously. The phones at Lori’s office went down yesterday afternoon and for all we can tell, are still down. She sat on hold for over 2 hours with their phone company which buys lines from a larger company. Time to switch.

Last night we had our game from 7:30 until 9:45. We ran late as once again, the lights went out during the game. Jag had a tough time as he was coughing and had to use his inhaler. I’m letting him sleep this morning as long as he can as he must have been up until almost 11pm. Thankfully we have no games until next Monday. Ty on the other hand, is already at Track practice. yesterday he was thrilled as he not only beat a kid in his class that is the self proclaimed best athlete, but he also beat one of Jagger’s classmates! He’s quite fast, our 10 year old!

Lori is in the shower, and I’ve got to get moving to go and pick up Ty and then get to work. Jag and I went to Colorado Springs yesterday and had a great meeting. I have lots and lots to do.

Take care and God Bless.

Road Trip

Today I’m off to Colorado Springs for an 11am meeting, then back home before heading off for a 7:30pm baseball game. Yesterday I took the boys to the pool for a bit in the afternoon but they didn’t stay long as it was apparently cold in the water.

Lori had another long day. This is a tough month for our household all the way around, I’ll just leave it at that. Ty has track this morning and Jag should have started swim team yesterday but we held him out due to his cough. We did make it to the doctor around 11:30 and 90 minutes later, after seeing the PA and a nebulizer treatment, we left. He’s on an inhaler now until we can kick the shortness of breath. Hopefully he’ll be ok in a few days.

Today would have been something like my Mom and Dad’s 100th anniversary. See Mom, I remembered! I still remember their wedding even though I wasn’t invited, ha ha. They were married at this church that’s still there across town near Cherry Creek and then I think took off for the Broadmoor Resort. I’m not sure but I think they took a helicopter, I’ll have to ask. Anyhow it was a special day as my Mom finally found the man of her dreams (and I finally found a dad) and she then had the life she so much deserved. I said I always knew Dad loved Mom as he not only married her but also had to marry us three kids! You see, he married four people, and he knew it, but that’s how much he loved Mom! Anyhow Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Hope all’s well and everyone is doing ok. I was going to dive into politics today as I’m just amazed at some of the things coming out of Washington but I’ll pass. I just have one thing to ask, how can anyone stand by this administration after what they did in the past few days. It was a sad sad few days for our Country. God Bless

Monday already?

Man the weekends go fast, it seems like we just finished up work Friday and here we are heading back to work this morning. Like I said before, we need a vacation!

Here’s a couple of comments,

Blondie says:

We would love to see Jag’s continuation ceremony and the talent show he hosted last year! Please email it to us :)

  • Eleanor Tafoya says:

Why does my name and e-mail get removed all the time,if you do not want me to reply back just say so ,I am not doing anything different then I was in contact with you before. You do not want to upset Mother Nature, ha ha.

I’ll email the continuation ceremony to you guys but don’t think we have the talent show and as far as your comments not showing up Eleanor, I don’t know what you’re doing? I or we don’t have any way to remove you so it’s something on your end. If you don’t see something show up, give me a call and I’ll try to walk you through it as computers can be challenging.

Yesterday we had baseball from 10 until 1 and then rushed to Jennifer’s grandma’s house for a graduation party. We didn’t want to go but had to show up for a bit. Then by the time we made it home, I made one more trip to the grocery store, we made dinner and it was time for bed. Jagger has a bad cough down in his lungs so I guess I’ll be taking him to the doctor today.

Lori’s off to work, lots of surgeries in the office today plus all her paperwork. Lots to do for me too. We both need about a week to catch up! Time to run as it’s 6:52 already, take care and God Bless.

66 mile an hour fast balls

Yesterday Jag and I and 3 of his teammates hit the batting cages at Unser Racing across town. They have a cool machine that actually shows a video image of a pitcher throwing the ball to the hitter. You can change the pitch, the speed, just about anything. We had it turned up to 66 miles an hour which is darn fast for 12 year old kids. The pros throw between 80 and 95 miles and hour with only a few approaching 100! That ball really comes whipping in there at 66, believe me.

Before that I ran to Boulder to get some veggies from my buddy who has the farm, traded for a new shotgun and then Jag and I ran to Cabela’s to trade the shotgun for another rifle and made $409 on the entire deal. Not bad for a mornings work.

Ty convinced Mom to get Netflix, at least the free 1 month trial. I’m personally over electronics but it’s cheaper ($9.99 a month) than having them order movies off tv which run about $6 a pop.

Eleanor, I did get your comment but all it said was “Did you get this?”

Today from 10 to noon we’re having an impromptu baseball practice combined with kickball and then we’ll grill some hot dogs for the kids at the park. I think we’re through with rain for a while, thank God. I’m sure we’ll be praying for rain not long in the future.

Time to run as I need to go get the hot dogs for the kids. They’re really coming together as a team and I’ve been putting together these fun times outside of practice which I think is really helping them bond. The Coach is super appreciative and happy as we all can see it. Anyhow, if you’re going to do it, do it all the way, right?

God Bless.

Tired

Well yesterday was a long day. Lori made it home around 7:45 after a nightmarish day at work, the boys played here and there and finished up at 9pm at Jump Street (a trampoline place) and I had lots of work all thrown in around everything. Lori is super tired, Jagger is still sleeping and Ty and I woke up at 6:30, which is late for me.

Grandpa Bob had some melanoma removed yesterday and is hopefully doing fine. Lori texted me a couple times during the day to get his number but I didn’t see the text until later in the day. Grandma Dix called me after I had finally seen the text and sent it but to play safe, she gave me Eleanor’s number which I passed on as well. Lori was in and out of the ER most of the day with an emergency patient so I’m not sure when she finally had a chance to call. She had a lady there all day with an unknown internal infection from a fall after a procedure that could be fatal so it was a big deal getting a diagnosis which Lori pretty much had to handle on her own. She didn’t actually have to diagnosis the patient but rather get the patient here and there and in and out of various tests and procedures all with no notice. Imagine getting a patient with no appointment squeezed in all over a hospital for a bunch of tests without the patient being scheduled. On top of that of course, you need to somehow get pre-authorization from the insurance company first when you don’t really know what your getting pre-authorization for! I asked her how she liked being a doctor when she finally made it home. This was a joke of course but is not far from true as her schedule and everything she has to deal with daily mirror that of a doctor. She does just about everything except the actual surgery. I took her lunch yesterday and she just got back up from the ER and had to rush to another docs office to beg, borrow or steal a strep culture as her’s were expired and the doctor ordered one as part of a battery of tests to rule things out. She and the PA were discussing how to treat the patient while Dr R was in surgery. I guess she took her down to the ER and had the doc come out and squeeze her in while her other patient was on the table (operating table) being turned for the rest of her surgery. Anyhow it’s a lot more than just payroll, taxes and managing the entire office. It’s a big job!

Today we want to go for a hike but both boys seem to have colds. They have coughs, stuffy noses and sore throats so I don’t know. I called off baseball practice yesterday (the coach was working and asked for my help) due to weather but might go to the batting cages today with 4 or 5 kids from the team. First though I’m off to Boulder to trade in a shotgun and hopefully make some money and pick up some fresh vegetables from our friend who sells them at the farmers market.

That’s about it, hope everyone has a great day, God Bless.

Double header

After a busy day and the over the top Chalker end of school year party, we took off for Brighton and 2 baseball games. Jagger played really well, so much that it’s come to be expected. He began game one as the starting pitcher and had some good moments and some not so good but overall had a solid performance. In game two, he played 3rd base, which he loves, and then short stop! While at short, he made an incredible catch spinning around and going backwards. He also had a monster hit that drove in 2 runs and almost made it to the fence. One dad told me Jag has the highest batting average on the team and is the best contact hitter we have. I don’t know about that but do know he’s hitting the ball great and is now throwing and fielding really well also.

So even though we lost to the number 2 team in the state, we gave them a good run and did a lot of great things. Problem is we still have a couple of kids who just are not ready to play at this level. You can see their frustration but they just don’t have the ability yet or have lost confidence. It’s too bad as we’re kind of stuck with them but I understand as if it was my kid, I would continue to encourage them too. I do have issues with one dad and his kid though as he said tonight that his kid is only here to socialize as otherwise he’d be in front of his computer all day. I told him my kid is here to learn and get better and win which he is. I sort of feel sorry for this particular kid who is constantly having struggles in practice and games as I think his dad is the root of the problem. I could go on and on but I’ll stop now.

We made it home by 10pm and Ty had Vinny spend the night. Today Jag is at Jen’s hanging out until 3 or so until we go to baseball practice. Not sure what all Ty and I will do, but you’ll find out tomorrow!

God Bless.

Last day of school

Yesterday we had the last day of school as you all know. Jagger was great, he walked down the aisle with his friend Daisy who grabbed his arm and proudly walked into the auditorium. It was a great ceremony. I have an email link of a slide show presentation I can send to anyone who wants to see it!

Later in the day was baseball practice and then I rushed home to get ready for the Cher concert. I wasn’t really looking forward to it but in a word, it was fantastic! She sounded great, did some video duets with Sonny and the whole set and show was like a Vegas show. On top of it, I managed to talk my way into to parking right next to Cher’s buses so we were in and out easy with the performers. It was like we were part of the show. We made it home around 11:30 after dropping Peggy off back at her hotel and went right to bed. It was a great time and I’m glad I went. Lori was thrilled and had a blast too.

Today we have a party at 1:30 and then head off to two baseball games at 4 up in Brighton about an hour away. Jagger and I will go and be home around 10:30 this evening while Ty will go to Vinny’s at 4 after both kids go to the party. Mom will then pick him up after work. That’s about it, lots to do, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

The last day of school, Graduation and Cher

It’s all over today, Jag will be out around 10am and Ty around noon, then summer begins. School starts early this year, like August 18th for Ty so that means the boys will have about 78 days of summer. Lori needs to be at school by 7am and we’ll show up around 8:15. Then tonight Lori and I are going to the Cher concert. Peggy, our friend from Aspen called 3 or 4 days ago and bought us all tickets and is taking us. I could care less but Lori really wants to go so that’s where I’ll be. I’m sure it’ll be good once I’m there.

Jagger is sun burned from the pool party yesterday, looks like we’ll have to go back to swim shirts again this year. Tomorrow is the annual after school party at the Chalkers. They are neighbors with a couple of kids in our school we’ve known for years and they must spend $5000 on this party every year. Each year they say they’re not going to do it again but they always do. They’ll have everything from a magician, to a dunk tank to hot dogs, a snow cone machine and much more. Gotta love trust fund kids! After that Jagger has two games in Brighton which is about an hour away. The first is at 5:30 and the second at 7:30 meaning we won’t be home until 10:30! That’s just wrong. Lori won’t be able to go and thankfully Ty will go to Vinny’s and Lori will get him on the way home.

Our stomachs are still jacked up from the weekend. We both had or should I say, have, some bug that we can’t seem to kick. That’s about it, the usual pressures no one wants to heart about and more but here we go, welcome to summer. God Bless.

The last week

Here we go, today we start the last week of May and the last week, or 2 days, of school! Today Jagger has Continuation (Graduation) practice and then the 6th grade pool party. Ty no doubt will just be playing at school all day long and tomorrow they’re all off after a half day.

It’s also the last week of May for us at work meaning we need one last push to get some cases out the door across the country. Summer will be here before you know it. Ty starts track and field and Jagger is doing swim team. Throw in lots of baseball, some camping, a few trips to Aspen and Steamboat and here we go, hold onto your hats!

Here’s a comment from Annette,

Jim and I went to the county fair in Sacramento on Fri. Jordann showed her pig for FFA. She got 3rd. I haven’t been to a fair in yrars. Jean spent most of the week-end there. Jordann sold her pig for $2.79 a lb. I think she made a little money. I’m cleaning house. My cousin Lynn and her husband are coming next week-end for a wedding.

Our kids would love to be in FFA or Future Farmers of America! They both told me the other day that they’re all in for moving to the mountains, right away! That says something that they’d be willing to leave all their friends. Of course we have Grandma here so we’re sticking around. However Lori wants a baby goat, Ty wants a horse and Jagger wants a miniature pig! For me, I’d just like some cattle and a few horses. We’ll keep plugging along.

It’s 6:21 and we’re running late so time to go. Hope everyone is well, give Jagger a call and congratulate him on graduating! I don’t remember graduating from 6th grade but I’m sure my Mom did something as she was always good about that kind of stuff. Take care, God Bless.
