A great game

Last night was a great baseball game, not because of the score but because of the way Jagger played. We actually ended up losing by a large margin but our guy was the player of the game, arguably the best on either team.

First off he made an incredible basket catch in the outfield, then threw all the way to 3rd base almost catching the runner, then making another play while playing 3rd base where he made a great stop, looked the runner back to 2nd and then threw a guy out before he made it to first, then hit a towering double at his first and only at bat and scoring our teams first run. He also stole 3rd! But the thing I was most proud of was when we were down by double digit runs and the entire team was hanging their heads and dejected, our guy was still out there yelling at his team to keep fighting and keep their chins up! There was no way we were going to win and it was just one of those games where lots of our guys made errors but Jag was positive all the way to the end. Everyone congratulated him after he scored so we weren’t shut out but he was very humble to the end.

We saw a couple guys from our team last year who were playing on another team this year waiting for us to finish so they could start their game, and one of the dads told me they’ve all been watching Jag over the past few weeks and how great he’s playing. Now we just need to get about half of our team playing better ball. Some kids just don’t listen or practice or pay attention as they make the same mistakes over and over. I know they’re just kids but its frustrating for the kids that practice and play hard, oh well, it is what it is.

That’s it for today, trying to survive another week. Hope it’ll rain tomorrow as we can use the humidity. We were going to get a humidifier but that’ll have to wait as we must have mailed off 8 more medical bill payments yesterday, it is what it is!

Take care and God Bless.

The Day After

Yesterday was kind of a day of rest but the party still lingered on. I was up early taking Peggy and Helen to the airport and then back up to Genesse and then home. By this time it was almost noon. Next up was cleaning up the mess from the night before, a trip to the grocery store, too short of a visit with my Mom, Tom and Ali stopping by and then Jagger’s  friend from baseball and his brother and parents coming over for burgers and more playing. Finally it was time for bed.

The misses had a nice birthday but today we’re back on the program. Protein shakes for breakfast, salad for lunch and something clean for dinner. Jagger has a baseball game at 5:30 meaning we’ll need to be there by 4:30 for warm ups. At least we’ll be home by 8pm!

It was a nice warm weekend and we need to get our sprinklers turned on. A couple more days of sun and then a little cool off with some thunder storms. Today is Cinco de Mayo but there will be no drinking around here. We’re all out of cake too, bummer, it was soooo good!

Take care, God Bless.

Happy Birthday!

Today the love of my life turns 50, although after last nights party, I’d bet she feels 70! The day went fast and before we knew it we were speeding up to our friends house for the party. The weather was beautiful along with the food and champagne. We knew most of the people although some of them we didn’t know. We were home by 9pm and then the fun began. Helen and Peggy, our Aspen girls, along with Michael and us sat out front by the fire Jagger built in the pit. Then our friends from jagger’s baseball team stopped by on their way home from the Rapids soccer game.

The kids all then played (they have two boys that are the same age as our boys) and we all sat and talked around the fire. Before anyone knew it, it had to be 11:30 or so which is late for us. Peggy had gone to bed earlier as this morning I’m running her and Helen to the airport as they’re off to Vegas for 3 days. Good news is Peggy is leaving her Ferrari with me  to drive. It’s fun to drive but hard to get in and out of. Oh well, it looks good in the driveway, ha ha.

Time to run as I have lots to do, hope all’s well, call and wish the misses Happy Birthday. Grandpa Bob already did at 7:30 meaning 6:30 his time! God Bless.

Birthday weekend

This morning Lori is going down to our friends spa for a treat from our friend who owns the place. Meanwhile Jag and I will be getting him a haircut at 9am in Cherry Creek. Mr. Ty spent the night at Vinny’s last night and we’ll pick him up this morning at 11am. Then later today after the Kentucky Derby we’ve been invited to a joint bday celebration at our friend who lives up in Genesse. Her birthday was earlier this week but she was in South Beach (Miami) and didn’t get to celebrate here. She also wants us to meet her new beau.

Our friends from Aspen are in town and will meet us there for some fun. We’ll be home early though as the misses actual birthday is Sunday. It’s also supposed to be hot, in the 80’s and no doubt, Lori will want to get some yard work done.

Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

The weekend

Here’s a couple of comments,

  1. robi says:

    HAPPY 50TH LORI!

  2. Annette says:

You and Serena look 10 yrs. younger than you are. Eat what you want!

As I said, I agree with Annette, Lori looks great! Ok, last night we had the 5th and 6th grade concert at school. Normally these are really good but last nights concert was just painful. It was with african drums, xylophones, and other instruments and none of it made sense. The only song that was any good at all out of the 1 hour 15 minute concert was the one from Jagger’s class. He and two other boys also performed solo songs on the tenor recorder which is like a flute. Here again, the other two boys struggled but Jag was fantastic! To throw in a little fun, he put on a bright green mustache and wore it throughout the whole show! He said he wanted to do a something a little crazy before it could get put in his permanent record. Too funny, he had lots of high fives from students and parents after the show! When he came up for his solo the music teacher said “wow, you grew a mustache, and I like it”!

Today we need to clean up around here and get ready for the weekend. Peggy from Aspen will be staying here tonight or tomorrow, we can’t remember. I have some errands today and Lori has work and Jagger has baseball practice tonight.

Time to run, lots to do, have a great weekend and God Bless.

And back up early!

4;13 am. Coffee is on, Mojo is fed and I’m dressed for the gym. Yesterday was a blur. I was out all morning and then picked the boys up at 1:30 from school to go to the dentist. They were both getting cleanings and while I was there it so happened they had a cancellation so they threw me in the chair to have a long awaited cavity filled. I was scheduled to go in May 10th or so but opted to go ahead and get it out of the way. Mr. Ty and Jag each have a cavity or two and will have to go back.

After that we rushed home to get ready for baseball only to get an email that the coach had a sick kid and couldn’t make it. This was a blessing as Jag had lots of homework. At 6pm we all headed to Manning, (Jag’s new school) for a welcome night. We made it home a little after 7pm, he’s all excited and met most of the teachers.

Today, well let’s see, let me grab my coffee and then I’ll tell you about it…….

Ok I’m back, coffee in hand, let’s see if I type faster! I have my last call this morning and then will hit the road to some appointments. Then I need to clean the house from top to bottom and get ready for the weekend. As you all know, Lori has her 50th birthday this weekend. We were going to have a party but a friend instead is having a little thing at her house Saturday night. The we’ll have a family party here at home Sunday, her actual birthday. Lori of course is eating nothing all week but cabbage soup trying to get in the shape she promised herself she’d be in on her birthday. I told her she looks fantastic, and by the way she does, and to instead pig out and eat anything she wants! Oh well, what’s a guy to do.

Last it’s May Day, here’s a brief explanation if you don’t know the significance.

May Day is related to the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Germanic festival of Walpurgis Night. May Day falls half a year from November 1 – another cross-quarter day which is also associated with various northern European paganisms and the year in the Northern Hemisphere – and it has traditionally been an occasion for popular and often raucous celebrations. Sounds fun right, throw in the misses birthday on the 4th and Cinco de Mayo on the 5th and it’s a busy 5 days!

Oh yea, in the 80’s this weekend, whoo hoo!

So lots going on, hope everyone is well, guess I’ll finish up and head out to the gym. Take care and God Bless.

Up late!

Yup, we slept in this morning getting out of bed at 6:30! We must have needed it. Last night we had the last parent meeting before Jagger’s trip to Washington D.C. and Williamsburg Virginia two weeks from yesterday. Sure sounds like they’ll have fun but all the parents including us, are nervous.

Tonight we have baseball practice and it’ll be windy again. It’s 35 degrees out now which is pretty cool for the last day of April.

Today it’s the same old story, work and school. Guess I’ll run, lots to do and Mr. Ty still has some homework to get finished. God Bless.

Up early

It’s 4:27 and I decided to just get up after lying awake in bed for 20 or 30 minutes. I think I can get to the gym and back before the day starts around here.

Yesterday Jag spent the day with Jennifer while Ty and I, after a morning of phone calls, went to lunch, and then managed to get him a much needed haircut, some new tennis shoes and a new book. We had a fun day together alone which we rarely get to do. Today they’re both back at school.

It doesn’t much feel like late April outside but it is. The rest of the country is being hammered by unsettled weather and bad tornado’s. Lori and I were saying how lucky we are to live in Colorado as we really don’t get as much severe weather as other parts of the U.S.

Our friend called from Aspen last night where it’s rainy, windy and just generally, in her terms, icky. The three of them, (girls) are coming down later this week and want Lori and I to go to some country bar with them Friday which I’m sure we’ll opt out of. Then after spending the weekend here, they’re off to Vegas! Helen, one of our friends, is of course bringing Teddy! You might remember Teddy, the cute tiny tiny little dog from a few months ago. As I said a few days ago, Peggy is staying with us but Helen, Kathy and Teddy are staying at the Hyatt. I’m sure we’ll have all kinds of fun!

Today I have another call, one more tomorrow and then I’m pretty much done with my 1st Quarter reviews. I need to do these but boy do they take time. Lori didn’t have a any headache yesterday which is great news. I need to try to get a humidifier installed but it’s way down the list. Maybe we’ll get some much needed rain soon.

I’d better run before I dive into politics or the economy or bills. Hope everyone is doing well, hard to believe its May 1st in a couple days. Time to start sighting in the rifles for fall hunting season! God Bless.

Lori working hard

All day long until 5pm the misses worked her butt off upstairs in the boys rooms. It took her two days but she finally finished both guys rooms. They were like black holes they had so much stuff in them. Under each bed existed a world of its own! Anyhow both are clean and now it’s up to each guy to keep it that way! We made it quite clear, they will never let their rooms get that messy again.

She’s still on a mission with the other two bedrooms upstairs in her crosshairs next. Our friend Peggy arrives Friday for Lori’s birthday weekend so I’m sure she’ll get the guest room finished before then.

Today the boys are off school and Jag is going to Jennifer’s so Ty will be with me. His friends are in school as their last names begin with letters in the back half of the alphabet which is how they split them up. I have calls this morning and then a few errands this afternoon so he’ll be hanging out with dad.

Time to run, it’s 5:36 and I need to get moving. I thought we were getting rain and snow but it seems ok outside right now. The wind is supposed to be really strong today, batten down the hatches! God Bless.

Purge Day 2

Yesterday didn’t produce much change if you just glance around but if you look closely, we made a lot of progress. We must have 8 to 10 large black trash bags full of trash and clothes that will soon be removed from the house. On the surface it’s difficult to tell as we started with closets and dressers and Ty’s room but believe me, a lot of useless stuff was separated out from stuff we actually do use!

Today we’re going to hit Red Rocks Park early hopefully before the high winds and rain hit. Then we’ll be back at it working on the clutter. For me, my closet is next but this takes time as you need to actually try some things on to see whether or not they still fit. Then I’m making turkey chili for dinner tonight and bbq’d turkey legs for the boys.

Time to run as I need to hit the gym and be back by 8am and it’s now 6:52. Hope all’s well, God Bless.
